Nukes, spooks, and kooks

Shane Collins and Lucas Maddox are the last two US Marshals after a global cataclysm that destroyed most of modern civilization. They’re still on the job, fighting the good fight, although they’re no longer fully human and maybe not entirely sane.

Shane and Lucas get a distress call from an enclave in Pennsylvania near a compromised nuclear plant guarded by ghostly guardians. A group of creepy cultists believes the Fae will take them through a rift in time to before the Events that destroyed civilization. Nearby, a suspicious military group has seized control of an abandoned missile silo, and a strange forest spirit roams the woods.

Can Shane and Lucas get to the bottom of the chaos before everything melts down?

Shutdown Crew is an action-packed near-future post-apocalyptic thriller full of grim ghosts, legendary creatures, shifters and elemental spirits, brave survivors, loyal friends, and found family.

Fourth novella of the Wasteland Marshals series (which I understand will be collected into one volume for release in Feb 2022), and the absolute best of the lot.

Our boys Shane and Lucas continue to bring as much law and order after the end-of-the-world as possible. This time, the call comes for strange doings around an old nuclear reactor. In a world of slowly waking old magic, what new disaster is leftover from the Before times around this site. Is it a magic beast newly woken, hungry for human flesh? Is it a end-of-the-world cult basking in its craziness? Is it preppers who are really, really enjoying the fact they were right? Or the "normals" at the university, now commune, hiding something in their ivory tower?

Cops see what happens when someone does horrific things because the voices in their head said to. Somehow that does not seem as pathetic and pitiful when nuclear meltdowns are involved and post-apocalyptic survival of the species is in issue. The authors have put together a horribly plausible paranormal and supernatural crisis that calls for the talents of the last known US Marshalls in existence and made it more real to me with their relatable believable characters, their starkly described environments and their deft ability to weave a story that resonates as much as it surprises. I am hoping that Shane and Lucas will have more adventures for my reading.

Fantastic Mission!

Great continuation in this series. The main characters are believable and relatable (love the dry sarcasm lol), and the new/side characters were fun and intriguing - even the`bad' guys.
Innovative `missions` with spooky and woo-woo elements thrown in. Def NOT boring!
Also appreciated the recap from past books at the beginning of this novel. It really helped to get my mind in the right order to read this new offering.
I'm looking forward to future journies/missions. :)
