3.5 stars Another brilliant addition to the escape to the cornish bakery series! I loved the main characters olivia and scott, although I feel like with this book there were some loose ends and undeveloped back stories, especially with scott, which is common in short stories and is uncommon so far from what I've read in this series.
The main "gripping" scene was sooo good I did not see it coming at all and was completely hooked! I also love how each story introduces you into the next.
I can not believe what little chapter we got on elsie and ian finally!! They deserved a whole book...
Overall, I recommend the series but this wasn't my favourite of them all so far...
This very short story follows Olivia as she starts volunteering at a busy bakery as a way to get a free holiday and away from the past. Her vintage car breaks down and the mechanic eventually understands why it's so important to Olivia that her car is looked after well. They bond over past trauma and their relationship develops very quickly. I shouldn't have read this before lunch as I got really hungry at the various mentions of delicious food (nothing fancy, just pies, pasties, etc. I would kill for a British style Lincolnshire sausage roll and a massive fish &chips with mushy peas 😋😋😋).
New Year at the Cornish Bakery is a contemporary romance set in a small town bakery.
The book starts with Olivia coming to Penworth Bay for volunteering at the Cornish bakery when her car breaks down and Scott is the mechanic who saves the day.
I liked how their chemistry developed through their mutual interest in cars and both of them understood each others' state of minds, they were supportive, loving and mature throughout the book.
It was a sweet , fast paced romance perfect for a cozy day in bed!
Beautiful book and much better than the second one according to my opinion. Wonderful characters in the name of Olivia and Scott and nice inclusion of Ian and Elsie's story in there too though I would have loved for them to have their own book with much build up to them in this book or in the next 2 books. The whole town is so gorgeous in the way it is phrased as usual. One thing I found here was that I was correct in my assumption that every book had that one thing in common where one of the main characters found themselves in a pickle of a situation and previous book's protagonists helps them as I said in my book#2 review here.

Oh how I enjoyed this little novel. It was a relatively quick read, and totally enjoyable. So enjoyable I have downloaded the entire series onto my Kindle.
Olivia has decided to answer an advertisement for volunteers at a bakery in Cornwall. Anything to escape the trauma of her life as it is. Little does she know just how much her life will change as she enters the tiny village before her.
This is a lovely read, it will put a smile onto your face. Hoghly recommended.
I love this book series. More than the romance, the friendships and sense of community and fun are really uplifting. I got this on my kindle unlimited, but I will have to limit myself, or I’ll be reading all the time. A nice series for those snow days coming up in winter! If I can wait that long!
The tight knit community of the bay and the fairy godmother of a baker, Elsie, make lost and lonely souls welcome. The romances bring soul mates together, often with a bit of drama inbetween.
Loved this book and this new to me author! I loved the descriptions of the people, good and landscape. This author reminds me of Jenny Colgan who is one of my all time favorite authors. I read this out of order but will definitely be reading the others!
A great story about how funny ways life brings people together. People who are hurt in life, and how they can find a new life and happiness. This is one story you will enjoy. A must read. Debra H.
This book was so fun and great. I really loved the characters. They were so loving and kind. The romance was awesome. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
i wasn’t really sure how i felt about this book at the beginning but the last 5-6 chapters have changed my mind about it. it’s a cute and quick to read story. 3/5 stars
