Cyborg Marine Ranger Darken Wolf is coming to Earth to become a law enforcement officer in the post-apocalyptic American West and meet his genetic mate. When he arrives, she is missing.

Gina Malcolm’s best friend points him to Overlord Devlin White, from whom she escaped several years before. Darken steals into the Overlord’s compound to free her, and they flee. Of course, it couldn’t be that easy.

A fighter plane follows Darken’s sky cycle and shoots them down over the New Mexican desert. While the landing was a little rough, the bigger problem is that Darken’s CPU shuts down, and the sky cycle burns along with Darken’s only comm. He is not even sure where they are but decides going North is the best plan. It could be a very long walk.

This is only the beginning as they get acquainted and embark on a life as a couple. All they have to do is survive long enough to share a future together.

About the author

Clarissa Lake grew up watching Star Trek and reading Marvel Comics. She attended science fiction and fantasy conventions where she met many well known science fiction author and attended their readings and discussion panels. They included scifi greats Anne McCaffery, CJ Cherry, George RR Martin, Ben Bova, Timothy Zahn, Frederik Pohl, Orson Scot Card.
While she loves scifi, she always thought there should be more romance so she started writing it hot and steamy.

Commentary I wrote while I was reading - it's scathing, brutal, and grammatically incorrect. Just train of thought. Please don't read it unless you really want to know what I was thinking.

Did a man write this? Someone who lives under a rock? What are your views on strong females with a backbone?

Times I questioned why I was reading:
1. He has extensive psychological trauma and they just kind of gloss over it. And her psychological trauma of being a sex slave (in a "harem")
2. She puts her hair tie in her pocket instead of on her wrist
3. She’s weak and dizzy and nauseous after not eating for 24hrs
4. I slept on the hard floor and my body hurts oh no - shut the fuck up
5. “I was hoping the universe wouldn’t be so cruel” as to let the overlords hurt me before you came to save me. Ma’am - he literally been on the front lines of intergalactic war for 95 plus years and was abandoned without an arm and a leg for months in the snow on a planet. Can you please shut the fuck up. Your trauma is your trauma but sure as hell your trauma doesn’t compare to his. Okay maybe that's disrespectful of me to say but the way that the h said it just made it feel like she was disregarding the shit she knows cyborgs went through. Like yes, the universe CAN, IS, and WILL EXCEED that level of cruelty.
6. She’s feeling too sick to walk and keep her eyes open and then she’s suddenly thinking about fucking?

And that was all before Chapter 5.

7. He doesn’t want to kill wolves because his last name is wolf. So he speaks to them in wolf to show the wolves that they - and I quote - “were not the the apex predators in this desert; he was” - end quote. I’m going to pee my pants from laughing.
8. The writing makes the girl so pathetic.
9. Oh god they’re just going to have sex under a random tree in the desert after she woke up from a nap. This is so pathetic.
10. “Do you wish to breed with me know?” / “Oh yes, I surely do” - I can see this robotic talk from the cyborg. But the human? No. Please. I would bully you.
11. Words/phrases that have no right being in a sex scene: “Relished his touch” “intermittently to divest them of their clothing” “relishing” “at length” “relishing” “outer nether lips” “Ah, Draken” (why does this 'moan' make me want to laugh? Ah.) “cooing” (gag at this word) (yes relish was used 3 times - gag)
12. She’s going to “cry out” at his one finger entering her but not his dick? Yikes we know what that means bestie.
13. h saying that the wolves look like big dogs and the H lecturing her that they are wild wolves. Makes the h seem like a child
14. “You’ll come with me (on my super dangerous law enforcement jobs), and we will train between trips, so you will know how to back me up.” / “Great!” — Miss gurl - do you have a job? Have you been gardening since you were initially rescued 2 years ago? You’re fucking useless. And based off of the fact that you did absolutely nothing except being carried around during this rescue mission, I predict that you’re going to be absolutely useless in the future.

FUCK. That was chapter 7. There’s 19 more chapters left and an epilogue. I can’t fucking do this.

Okay. Just shutting my brain down and skim reading the rest of this shit show. Will inform if it gets better.

Okay. I'll say that maybe some people enjoy to read books like this.
However, I do not and did not enjoy this.

Rebuilding Lives

America, Canada, and Mexico is largely in ruins after a long war. Brave cyborgs like Darken have volunteered to help rebuild the countries and possibly find their genetic female matches. Darken has been fortunate to find his match. During the process the cyborg assigned to the the area encompassing Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado learns of human trafficking in the area. Finding and rescuing these missing young men and women is dangerous business and loving Gina puts her in the crosshairs. Plenty of action and sexy moments. I am loving this series and really looking forward to reading the next book.

Great story

I love this world that has decided to keep it's promises to it's Veteran Cyborgs, and find the genetic mates for them. It will take a long time to form a register of all interested women, and collect DNA samples to find their matches, but the lucky ones are brought together. Who wouldn't want a man, who is a perfect physical specimen, wants only you, and will be so grateful for the kind of gentle touching, and hugging because it really means something to them. Darken had me wiping tears, at how much he loved his mate😢😍. I really loved this book.

Darken is a Cyborg Ranger assigned to patrol the old southwest on earth. He finds his mate Gina when he is matched to her genetically. Fighting to maintain law and order, he adapts to married life. Another well written book in this series full of fighting and loving to create a new place for cyborgs.

Dark Protector

I know that each story is a telling how each couple came to be however Gina and Darken were perfect. I love it when the MC just states his truth...You are mine and I am yours and I will wait for you to catch up.

This proves there is someone for everyone.

I'm glad Devlin got his just due..now that cyborg, Price...where is his story? Hint, hint

Action Filled

This was an action packed cyborg romance with just as much action outside as in. With old and new familiar couples. I thought Darken would be more emotionally scarred based oh his history but he wasn’t. And he loved his genetic match Gina. Great read.

The second book in the Cyborg Rangers Series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Cyborg Marine Ranger Darken Wolf and Gina Malcolm’s story has suspense, drama, danger, villains, and romance. I hope there is going to be another book in this series. I read this book through K.U.

This is a great cyborg romance series. It reminds me of post apocalyptic cyborg cowboys. It's interesting and exciting. It has sweet romance and lots of adventure.
