All 151 pages of this book whipped me around like a napkin in a wind tunnel.
I know these books are just for the ooey gooey romance kiss kiss fall in love but for sticklers for details or logic it's rough. The story is a car with 'Just Married' slathered on the back window and I am the empty cans of peas attached being dragged along behind. It's fast and bumpy and I'm in the dirt but I gotta go for the ride 'til the end.
I commend anybody that writes a book and admire your dedication to finishing something. Ms. Meadows has dedication and I respect her craft. She makes an entertaining story albeit maybe not for the reasons she intends.
There's a lot here I think could use improvement. It would be best to experiment with voice and writing more descriptively. The novella is mostly written in a very basic style. Most dialogue ends with "He said." "She said."
The descriptions werent especially flowery either, riddled with "He did this." "He kissed her." Phrases are also recycled and just about every emotion "washed over them". The word tingle or variations of it were mentioned 22 times in this little book. Variety is the spice of life which very much includes writing. I strongly recommend a writing workshop or some honest beta readers.
I'm not looking for a literary Van Gogh but some real meat to the descriptions could flesh out these stories immensely. They lack the substance to carry a story to a fulfilling conclusion.
There's also definitely a sense that these are books created pretty quickly and they get the job done and many are satisfied with that. And thats fine. But there's something about reading these that leaves you wanting more than Guy A and Girl B macking on each other and indulging in poorly conveyed sexual scenes. The setup is there, execution isn't.
There were several flawed plot points and missed opportunities to improve the story with suspense and conflict that just were not taken. I felt the character of Eddie was wasted by not utilizing him as a true antagonist instead of an obstacle that doesn't really provide any lasting consequence for either of the leads.
The son of a millionaire is killed without consequence? Fat chance.
Some sequences in this book were so ridiculous I couldn't help but laugh and highlight them because it was just so out there. Example: both Veronica and Rick about to cream themselves over a cinnamon roll. Or Veronica's less than empathetic response to Rick explaining his father was mauled by a bear.
Anyways, I'll read more because it's hilarious. T

This book finally had a real ending. It told you what happened to the bad guy. Well in a way.

This is book five of the Cowboy Dragon’s Inn series and the main characters are Rick and Veronica. Rick is one of six men who inherited a ranch and a run-down inn from their mentor Dean, who had helped all of them when they were teens. He brought them all back together years later with his death and they worked hard to get both businesses up and running successfully. Three of them concentrate mainly on the ranch side of things, whist the other three concentrate on running the inn. Four of the six have found their fated mates and it is just Brian and Rick who are on the shelf. When Rick literally runs into a woman as he exits the grocery store in town, he couldn’t forget her. He noticed her black eye and knew someone had obviously hurt her recently, as her reaction had been to run away from him. He was collecting snacks for a staff night of fun at the inn and a game of spin the bottle leaves him placed on a dating site reluctantly. As is veronica by her only friend in town, Debbie, who was supposed to have placed her own profile on the site and was doing one for Veronica as well, until she made it plain to Debbie that she wasn’t looking to date. Rick saw her incomplete profile and asked her to meet him for a coffee. Quite a tame comment considering some of the ones she received! She wants to back out, but Debbie pushes her to go and tells her that he is a good guy and a bit about him and his friends who run the ranch and inn together.
She meets him for coffee but doesn’t agree to go out with him, explaining she isn’t looking for any romance at the moment and he asks her about what she is running from. Her ex Eddie, is a wolf shifter and he has managed to find her in three different places she ran to so far. Rick asks his police chief friend to look him up and check what sort of danger might be coming for her, as he works out how to protect her! What he finds out is quite worrying, as Eddie is from what seems to be an organised crime family, with a lot of influence and power, plus he has avoided prison and ended up in psych wards for mental health issues. So he is clearly dangerous. Rick offers to take her for a horse ride out at the ranch, as friends, and they end up having a late night picnic under the stars instead. He finally opens up to her about his past and the problem he has struggled with since his own father’s death right in front of him. Something he hasn’t even told his friends. They take things slowly and she soon begins to feel comfortable with him and in his arms. He is willing to wait until she is ready for any romance and he takes his cues from her. They eventually arrange to go away to a cabin for the weekend, but that is advanced a day, when she spots Eddie in town and they get away from him.
Eddie soon gets onto their tracks, but not before they spend the perfect night together and his magic comes back to full power, even she feels their connection through the bond they form together. Eddie hasn’t come alone and they are faced with a large group of wolf shifters. Only Rick turning into his dragon form will get them away from danger, but he hasn’t been able to access that since he was a teen. Rick won’t allow Eddie of his friends to hurt her, he would lay down his life to protect her and keep her safe. They have to escape to a hidden spot and hope to keep them at bay until help arrives, but a night out in the woods allows Veronica to think about all the time she has wasted being scared of Eddie. She doesn’t want to act scared anymore and is willing to stand up and fight for her freedom and the love she and Rick share for each other. A bit of encouraging magic from his old mentor Dean doesn’t go amiss, as she stands her ground and he accesses his magic, in a fight to stop Eddie once and for all! His friends finally get a call about the danger they are facing, but the two manage to cope all on their own. Now only Brian is on his own, but the end of the story allows us a small insight into who he is going to find and not long to wait, as his story will be told in the next book. Serena Meadows has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Veronica and Rick. Veronica has moved to town to get away from her ex-boyfriend Eddie. The last time he found her he put her in the hospital. She has gone to the grocery store but tries to go in the wrong door and she almost gets knocked down when Rick tries to come out and it won't open. He sees that her face is bruised and he has a feeling that he needs to protect her. He tries to get her to go and get a coffee with him but she tells him, no, and she is not interested in getting involved with anyone at the moment. He tells her that they could be friends. She still tells him no. Things happen and she ends up seeing him while she is out with Debbie. He goes up to her and asks her to dance. They have a good time together. After their dance, he asked if she wanted a drink? She tells him that she needed to go and find her friend Debbie. they start walking and she stops all of a sudden. She thinks that she sees Eddie. Rick tries to get her to tell him what is wrong but at first, she doesn't say anything. Rick gets her to sit down and tell him what happened. A few minutes later, Debbie comes up with Scott and she wants to know what happened. Unknown to Veronica, Rick goes to see his friend Taylor, the sheriff, and tells him what he knows about things between Veronica and Eddie. Rick tells her that he is not going to let anyone hurt her again. Taylor calls Rick when he gets the information back on Eddie and it is not good. Taylor tells him that he and Veronica need to get out of town for a few days until he can come up with a plan to get Eddie. Rick had planned to take her out of town the next night anyway just to let her relax. Rick takes her to a cabin in the woods and tells her that he likes to come there to just get away from things. They hadn't been there long when Rick hears the horses having a fit. He tells Veronica that something has upset them and he is going to check on them. He makes sure that he can protect herself before he goes out. While Rick is outside, Eddie gets into the cabin and tells Veronica that he is taking her back to where she belongs and that is with him. She tells him that she is not going with him, she can't stand him, and that she will fight with everything she had to stay away from him. When Eddie takes her outside, she lets out a scream and elbows him in the ribs as hard as she can, and takes off to the woods. Rick is facing six wolves and hearing Veronica scream is what makes him shift. Once the wolves scatter he goes looking for Veronica. He sees her going into the woods and sees a wolf following her. He dives down after Eddie. Rick sends Eddie into the trees and then goes to find Veronica. He finds her sitting under a tree and he lands and tells her that they have to get out of there. He tells her about a cave on the top of the mountain and that is where they head. She has gone as far as she can and she asked "How much further?" He tells her that he can fly her up the mountain and all she has to do is hold on if she can handle that. They get up to the cave and Rick puts Veronica to bed and he keeps watch. The next morning, when she wakes up, she sees Rick sitting be the opening of the cave looking tired. She tells him that she will stand watch for a while so he can get some rest. He starts to argue with her about needing to get the sat phone charged up so they can call for help.

When their old friend Dean died, he left his ranch and hotel to six boys that had gone through high school together and spent a lot of time on the ranch with Dean. The one stipulation is that the six boys restore the old hotel and fix up the ranch. Fast forward twelve years and the hotel is a success as well as the ranch.
Rick lives in the hotel with the only other single one of the six boys, Brian. They are having a staff night of games and Rick is at the store picking up snacks. He is leaving the store when a woman runs into him. He drops his bags and catches her before she can hit the ground, shocked at the zap of feeling that shoots up his arm. She takes one look at him and runs away. He can’t help but notice the black eye she has. That night at the hotel, they are playing spin the bottle and when Rick’s turn comes Brian dares him to post his profile on a new dating web site called Mountain Men Only. Well, he was never one to back down from a dare, so he posts his profile.
Veronica is fleeing from her abusive boyfriend Eddie. She loves the small town of Alma so she stays there thinking Eddie will never find her. She has settled in after a month and has a job and an apartment. She and friend are having dinner one night when Debbie is telling her about the new dating app called Mountain Men Only. Veronica laughs and says no way when Debbie suggests she put up her profile too. Veronica is horrified and refuses. She is done with all men!
Rick hasn’t been able to forget Veronica, even though he doesn’t know her name and they only touched once. He has looked for her in town, but can’t find her. He starts getting lots of hits from his profile on the website and just deletes them until Veronica’s picture pops up. He immediately replies and asks her out for coffee. Veronica’s phone has been going off all day and she can’t figure out why. When she checks it at her break there are over a hundred responses from the profile on Mountain Men Only. She is furious at Debbie and goes over to yell at her after work. Debbie is really embarrassed because she thought she had hit send on her profile but must have hit the incomplete one she had set up for Veronica, hoping to get her to agree later. They both laugh it off and start going through the emails. Most of them are from total losers. But when she sees a response from Rick she recognizes him as the guy she ran into at the grocery story. Debbie talks her into meeting him for coffee. Even though she tells him that she didn’t put up the profile and she has no interest in dating anyone, they are both drawn to each other. Eventually, fate takes over and they are both hooked. When danger comes calling, will Rick be able to protect her from her violent ex, who just happens to be a powerful wolf shifter?

'Cowboy Dragon's Brave Blind Date' by Serena Meadows is the fifth book in her Cowboy Dragon's Inn series and tells the story of Rick, a dragon shifter and one of Dean's boys, and Veronica, who is hiding from her abusive ex, Eddie. Veronica moved to the small town of Alma to get away from her ex. She really liked the small mountain town and already had a job and friends. Her friend Debbie was trying to get her to go out but Veronica was done dating for awhile. Rick had run into Veronica at the shops and noticed her black eye and wondered what happened. But he was more intrigued with the spark he felt when they touched. Rick believes that he and Veronica are fated mates and just needs to convince her. But Veronica doesn't want a shifter boyfriend after dealing with Eddie, who was a wolf shifter. However, when Eddie shows up and tries to kidnap Veronica and Rick comes to her rescue maybe a dragon shifter mate isn't as bad as a wolf shifter.
Ms. Meadows has written a compelling addition to her series. This story has drama, suspense, abusive exes, action, trust issues, and plenty of steam. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of drama with their romance. I can not wait for the next book.

This is the fifth book in the Cowboy Dragon Inn series. When their mentor Dean passed away, six men were gifted a ranch with the stipulation that they get the Inn up and running together. What they didn't realize at first was that Dean was trying to pull them together to be family since they're all dragon shifters. They're succeeded and each book in the series is one of the guy’s stories of meeting their mate and falling in love. You can read this as a standalone but there will be spoilers to the previous books. Rick is one of the two lone single men in their group and though he tells everyone he's happy with the way things are he's starting to feel lonely. On a dare his profile is setup on a dating site where he matches with Veronica, the woman he can't seem to forget even though they barely met and he didn't know her name. Veronicas on the run from her ex who is an abusive wolf shifter. She’s looking to date or put down roots. Her profile was accidently submitted by her friend. She only agrees to the date to make her friend happy. Will Veronica let Rick after her experience with shifters? Can Rick show her he’s different?

Dragon shifter Rick was just exiting to store with bags of snacks to the staff games night at the hotel when he bumps into a woman almost knocking her over. He drops the bags and grabs her arm to stop her falling he feels a tingling up his arms and looking into her face he notices she had a badly bruised eye like she had been punch. As soon as she is free the woman runs off. Rick finds his mind keep wandering back to her. Veronica is on the run from her ex hoping that the small town of Alma will keep her safe. She had been lucky last time that she had escaped with only a black eye as the previous time he had found her she had been hospitalized. She was ashamed of the way she had panicked when the man at the store had bumped into her but had got on her car and driven off.

When she pulls away and quickly drives from the lot, he just stares after her car. What in the world? He can't seem to forget her and doesn't believe it when she turns up as a match on the dating app he joined on a dare. Rick and Veronica meet at a small store as she is trying to get away from an abusive ex, hiding a black eye. He is there to get munchies to game day. These two later connect again and sparks fly. With bad past relationships on both sides, they need each other to heal and find a future. The characters are well developed, determined and have intense feelings. The storyline has great backstories, suspense, danger, steam, a great festival, a cabin, a cave and much more. Loved their chemistry and the bond between the men. The ex, wolf-shifter Eddie was very nasty and well connected. The ending wrapped it all up very nicely.

Fantastic! I loved it!
This book is amazing! It’s time to head back to the Cowboy Dragon Inn for Rick’s story. He will stumble upon his mate, literally. He and Veronica will meet when he bumps into her outside a store in town. He can’t seem to forget about her. She is on the run from an abusive ex and doesn’t want another relationship. But feelings will develop between the two and soon, they are following those feelings. They will need to deal with her ex, Eddie, but it will be an ordeal they will face together and it will lead them to their happily ever after.

Rick is a dragon shifter, and Veronica is in need of some help. Eddie her ex is an abusive jerk and follows her to a cabin and is going to take her back with him. He has put her in the hospital before. When he goes into the cabin she fights and runs off into the woods. Rick shifts into his dragon and takes Veronica to safety. She is his mate. I love a good shifter romance and this checked all the boxes for me. Great story with wonderful characters and a little action and a little steam. Great book.

He is curious about her and the black eye he saw. During a dare he downloads a dating app and her friend accidentally added Veronicas profile instead of her own.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of the fifth book in the Cowboy Dragon Inn series by Serena Meadows, Cowboy Dragon's Brave Blind Date. I really enjoy the reads in this series. While on the run from a violent ex, Veronica runs into Rick. Rick quickly realizes that Veronica is his mate and his protective instincts kick in. This story has action, drama, danger, and Dragons! A fun read and a great addition to the series. Mature Themes make this a Mature Readers Suggested read.

Rick has just purchased an abundance of junk foods for game night at the Inn when he literally runs into a woman trying to get into the store through the exit. On the run from her ex, Veronica is attempting to hide the black eye he gave her when she is run into outside the grocery store in Alma. This story contains some action, romance, and steam includes a HEA, and ends in a cliffhanger. Highly recommended.

This is already book 5 in this series and just as great as the others. Serena wrote us a beautiful story that takes us into the lives of Rick and Veronica and is one that you can't let go of. She is on the run from her ex and is not ready for any kind of relationship. However, Rick knows what he wants and is willing to wait for her. But will he be able to keep her safe???

This series just keeps getting better with each book. I’m so into handsome, considerate, protective dragon shifter. Veronica ex was abusive to her and she was scared of giving her heart to another man. Rick was lonely and out of touch with his dragon side, but when Veronica was in danger his dragon came to life to protect them.

once again she can not even follow her own book storyline.
As with all of the books in this series the epilogue in the previous book is where the next one begins. In Book 4 epilogue Rick was buying groceries for Mrs. Anderson, the ranch cook. In this book Rick is buying junk food for an employee game night party. The stories in the middle are not bad buy why not just do it correctly?

They were signed up on a dating site, when Rick and a group playing spin the bottle was dared and had to// Veronica’s friend put her profile on the dating site. Were matched so did a date and then things got complicated but got figured out. Can’t wait to read the next book by Serena Meadows!

This is Veronica and Rick's story, I liked this one they are great together. I liked how they initially ran into each other only to later realise that they were mates and then for him to discover that he wasn't broken after all! Lots of drama, some danger with an enjoyable love story at its heart. I'm looking forward to the next book.
