Avatar: The Last Airbender and 21st Century Military Combat Collide A secret censored throughout the modern age…
…A cataclysmic riot leaves the fate of the world hanging by a thread
There are a lot of things Wind Wielder Sion Zona wished he had taken seriously. But the following facts he neglected display his sheer ignorance.
One, an ancient tribe within his Elemental race wiped from the pages of time still exists.
Two, Sion and a band of eight other Elementals are the final descendants from that ancient tribe and hold the key to preventing the masses from falling victim to a one-world government foretold in a banned set of ancient texts.
Three, the global superpower wants nothing more than to destroy Sion and the others before they discover their importance to humanity.
So yeah, there’s no pressure in taking on a raging dictatorship.
Wind Wielder is Book I in Elementals of Nordica, an exciting speculative fantasy series featuring old-world epic fantasy tropes bent into modern-day society. If you are a fan of elemental magic, complex plots, and sword and sorcery with a sci-fi twist, Wind Wielder is a MUST READ.
After spending years devouring the works of J.K. Rowling, George Lucas, and the greatest thinkers in history, TC Marti fuses his imagination with Libertarian themes in his shared universe, the Renegades Epic. Be sure to follow TC on BookBub to catch new releases and sales https://bit.ly/46sKmUH.
Love a brilliant fantasy, dystopia novel ? Then look no further ! This was an absolutely brilliant read , it had me hooked from the very first page until the very last word!
This book is jam packed with action , it definitely keeps you on your toes and guessing what is going to happen next. The storyline is one that intrigues you , it keeps hold of you. The characters are brilliantly described , the setting set perfectly. This is the type of book that plays out in your mind , the action grips you and compels you to read on.
I received an advance reader copy of Wind Wielder for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Amazon listing for TC Marti's Wind Wielder describes the book as a cross between Avatar: The Last Airbender and 21st century military combat. With such a comparison, you should expect plenty of action... and on this front, Wind Wielder truly delivers.
While reading the book, I felt like I was sitting in a cinema, watching an action-adventure movie. At 285 pages in paperback or an estimated 347 swipes on Kindle (which is how I read the book), it may not be a particularly long book, but neither is it short. Yet, I managed to read it in two sittings over the course of the day; something I can largely attribute to the flow of this action.
No matter how well it-written and paced the action is, if that's all a book has going for it, the end result would be boring. This is not the case with Wind Wielder, a story about ‘mutants’ who wield elemental powers; long outlawed by the world of Nordica’s governments, thanks to possessing powers, effectively making them weapons.
Wind Wielder also includes some commentary on governments and their use of power, but the author doesn’t offer anything new in this space. This is entirely fine, but it would be nice to see such themes expanded upon as the series continues.
I've noted the listing's comparison to Avatar, but superpowered mutants would be familiar to fans of the X-Men franchise, and superpowered individuals being banned by governments is prevalent in Captain America: Civil War and the comic that spawned it. These concepts are not entirely original, but the author has built a great science fantasy world. The characters are fun, and their relationships are enjoyable. As the first part of a series, Wind Wielder is not a standalone story, but does not feel incomplete.
I will say that while the book includes some wonderful turns of phrase, other sentences and moments read as fairly clunky and could have benefitted from an extra round of edits. Likewise for the few typos in the book, but in the grand scheme, these were very few - and fewer than many books released by the major publishers.
If you're a fan of action adventure books and science fantasy, I wholeheartedly recommend Wind Wielder.
My full review will be posted on my website from 31 December, 2021. For my full thoughts (and thoughts about other books), why not take a look?
Wind Wielder is the first book in the Elementals of Nordica series by TC Marti. Wind Wielder introduces us to a new world of Elementals. Elementals are mutants with special powers.
There are different elemental powers and one person can have more than one elemental power that is mostly revealed as they become stronger. There are like eight Elementals who are the final descendants of an ancient tribe. A tribe that was thought to have been erased from existence a long time ago.
After the war, there was a law passed stating that elementals or mutants were not allowed to use their powers. Most tried to keep their powers hidden but were unsuccessful. More and more mutants are letting their powers out into the world as time goes by. Anyone caught using magic and their identities revealed they are dealt with as the law states.
Mutants are gathering together to form an alliance against the global superpowers who want all mutants destroyed before they realize just how powerful they truly are to the world.
What I really liked about Wind Wielder was the mutants and their magical powers. I also enjoyed all the battles. I could see the mutants as each and everyone used their powers. I also liked when they were practicing with their powers.
I think my favorite character was Rajae or Raj as she prefers to be called. I like how she will stand up against anyone. She is tough and stands up for what she believes. Raj is great, stronger fighter.
My next favorite character is Sion. Sion is stronger and a very handsome man who knows who and what he is and he doesn't hide it.
Wind Wielder sort of reminded me of The Witcher and The Gifted. Wind Wielder would make for a great TV series.
I would recommend Wind Wielder to all fans of magic, fantasy, science fiction, dystopia, and sword & sorcery. One-click your copy of Wind Wielder today for an epic adventure and introduction to a brand new world!
This was such a unique and engaging fantasy read. The way the author implemented modern-day tech and social structures into a world of magical (or superpowered, depending on how you look at it), people outlawed by this tyrannical government as mutants were just pure fantasy at its finest. The balance the author found between action-driven narrative and intricate character developments was absolutely perfect, as the world became much more vibrant and yet the reader was able to hone into the characters and their evolution over the course of the narrative.
What was so amazing to see the author develop was a larger-than-life mythos and truly engaging world-building. The foundation of any great fantasy, the story managed to develop the revelations and hidden truths of the world’s lost tribe and the intricate corruption that this government power held onto while allowing the world in which the narrative developed to feel well-established and well lived in, making this a gripping story to engulf.
A masterful, mind-bending, and entertaining read, author TC Marti’s “Wind Wielder: Elementals of Nordica” is the perfect first book in this brand new fantasy series, and will mark the perfect way to begin 2022 for fantasy fans. The world-building and mythology the author develops feel fresh and rich with history and culture, while the modern twist on this original world feels like a natural progression of the modern fantasy book experience. With a cliffhanger ending that will leave readers eager for the next installment in this series, readers will not want to miss out on this incredible story.

Review
There's a lot going on in this story that it can be overwhelming. At times, I found myself asking, "What on Earth is going on now?" Though the concept is familiar, the story is complex and multi-dimensional, and the uncertainties regarding the characters’ fate prevented me from putting this book down. I love that this book gives a mix of classic and modern feels because the powers the characters possess are classic, but the setting and overall approach is modern. I think this is the kind of story that would be best appreciated in the big screen for its aesthetics and battle scenes.
Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars for its great world-building and fascinating characters. It’s a story about mutants with elemental powers that have been banned by the government, but have gathered to form an alliance against those who aim to destroy them. The cliffhanger ending will entice readers to anticipate the next installment in this series. I highly recommend this book to readers who love supernatural and fantasy stories.
I received this book as an ARC and this is my opinion. This is a great start to a potentially interesting series. The main character is Sion Zona and he is gifted with elemental magic which is illegal to practice in his country. The story reveals a corrupt government that is controlled by the rich and powerful. Sion’s family is attacked and he wind surfs home to try and help, but the army is attacking the entire town. Many have been killed or arrested, but he is able to save his cousins by defeating a more powerful elemental, Rajae. Sion, his partner, and three cousins escape and join forces with a mentor and a group of elementals that have ties to a prophecy that will free the people. With many twists and turns, suspense, deceit, and action this book is an excellent read and I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I definitely recommend this book if you are into fantasy worlds and magic.
I was drawn to this book by the concept and book cover. Also, this comparison grabbed my attention...Avatar: The Last Airbender and 21st Century Military Combat Collide. Which I will admit that this is a pretty accurate description for this book. I could see elements of it all in the storyline and characters.
Regarding Sion, he was not very likable. I kind of thought he came off as a bit arrogant. The other Elementals were good. This is where the biggest struggle came in for me with this book. While I really liked the elements of this story; I could not fully embrace all of the characters in this story. Overall, there were enough other good parts about this book that I liked that I would read the next book in this series.
If you are a fan of traditional epic fantasy tropes infused with science fiction, dystopia, elemental magic, and modern warfare (with a sporty subplot), Wind Wielder will not disappoint you. Featuring an ensemble cast of characters, this is the type of book that will keep your eyes glued to the page and leave you clamoring for more.
Follow Sion Zona and company as they discover the key they hold to their world's survival by unveiling a truth the global superpower nation of Tamuria had covered up for nearly a millennium. Wind Wielder features a fast-paced writing style, complex plots, twists, turns, mis-directions, and thought-provoking themes that gear up toward a thrilling and shocking ending.
Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. The story starts pulling you in at the very beginning as a group of young people with elemental abilities run to escape the destruction of their towns and their families. Hidden from political threats they enjoy leveling up their skills and competing with other teams. But, they are on the wanted list, not only for what they can do, but for whom they really are. Always on guard, they band together, and when the political system comes for them, they are ready. Action packed battles portray their many strengths and growing powers with the fierce determination to win. The scenarios are nail biting and breath holding, with many twists and turns. Truly epic!
This is one of the best books that I have had the privilege to read in 2021. The plot is great and very well written, the characters are Teen Age temperamental, and the constant action mixed with so many twists and turns makes this book a page-turner. The author has a talent to virtually take the reader where the action takes place and experiment the joys and sorrows that the characters are subject to. Definitively a 5 STARS, I look forward to reading the next in this amazing series.
That cover really pulled me in and I love elemental magic. This books was faced paced with a lot of action straight off the bat. If you also enjoy sports in your books I’d recommend this one as there was a lot of Thrashball, the sport of choice, described in lots of detail. I personally am not a sport fan but it was done well. The main character Sion annoyed me, everyone thought he was really great but I thought he was an ass most of the time. I liked the parts with Rajae the most, she had the most spirit and was a kick ass woman and she really redeemed it for me
I loved every moment of this story, high in many different types of action. This book doesn't allow the reader to get bored. The book has well-defined characters, each with their own back stories. The descriptiveness of each setting brings a strong tangible image as you read. I loved the writing of the trash ball games. You will Bond with each character and will have to more about them. Looking forward to next book.
A perfect beginning for a new series. Action aplenty to keep you reading. This is definitely in the league of Avatar. I absolutely loved everything about the story and anxiously awaiting the next book.
