Kresley

Well this was a pleasant surprise! Normally I would fall head first for the hero but that was not the case in this story. I wanted to be best friends with the heroine and help her because she was just one of those girls that you gravitate towards. I Just Need You was sexy, mysterious bodyguard romance that made you root for the forbidden romance because you KNOW that this one was going to be special.

Some would say that being the only child to billionaire parents is a wonderful thing but for 21 one year old Kresley, she will tell you that it is not always roses. Having to watch your back in fear of being a target is always at the forefront and unfortunately her worst nightmare became a reality. Forced to get extra security in her Senior year of college, Kresley has to adjust to her new life along with trying to secure a sense of normalcy. But when she meets her new protector, normal is not what she should be worried about.

Twenty five year old Tristan has been the best at his job for the past seven years. He’s level headed, a leader and he knows that his clients safety is top priority. But when he’s assigned to protect a college student who at first sight changes the course of his job, Tristan knows that this assignment is going to be different because of the blonde beauty. With danger lurking in the background, will Tristan and Kelsey survive each other?

I love that this was a body guard romance and quite frankly, that was what drew me to this story. I was sold on the forbidden but the banter between the main characters was the bright star for me. I LOVED it!!! These two had a connection from the very beginning and watching them try to fight it, was entertaining. I laughed, bit my fingernails, groaned in frustration, and shouted finally from the rooftops after taking a shot because let’s be real……

Now I was not a fan of everything in the story but I can say that I did enjoy most of it. The characters were refreshing and I loved that it had a little bit of mystery to it. If you’re like me and this is the first time reading anything from this author, I would highly recommend you start with this book.

I JUST NEED YOU by J. Nathan is completely irresistible! The story is intense, suspenseful and hooking right from the start.
“I don’t think a bad decision has ever felt so right.”

Kresley just wanted some independence and normalcy while studying abroad but is forced to go back home after a botched kidnaping attempt. Being a strong and resilient young woman, she’s determined to finish college albeit bit closer to home and with added security. She just didn’t expect to have a surly, arrogant and drop dead gorgeous bodyguard who pushes all her buttons.
“I brought the stars to you”

Tristan Stone has dedicated his adult life to protect those who can’t protect themselves and is incredibly good at his job. But his latest contract will test his limits and control like no other because the woman he’s been hired to protect provokes and fascinates him in equal measures. And even though he knows he’s there to safeguard her life, there’s no protection for either of them against the sparks between them.

J. Nathan’s books have become a staple in my reading shelves. Her books are a delight to read and I Just Need You is no exception. I loved how much Tristan and Kresley pushed each other’s buttons. Their push and pull was very entertaining and even though they got off on the wrong foot with a really bumpy ride, once they got to know one another they realized they were perfect for each other.
Tristan wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest. “You really want to fight every girl who looks at me?”
“You really watch me sleep?”

I loved their time together whether it was a date or not, there was so much chemistry and swoon! I also loved Kresley’s friends Eloide and Alice as well as Tristan’s security team.

I Just Need You is a standalone New Adult romance by author J. Nathan. I couldn’t put this book down and smiled from start to finish. It’s a college romance told from both points of view with a wonderful happy ending.

Another great book by J. Nathan! She has become one of my favorite authors and her books are always an automatic “one click” for me! I Just Need You was fantastic! The chemistry between Kresley and Tristan was off the charts and I loved that the book was written with their dual POV. I definitely recommend!!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘I just need you’ is the newest book of the writer J. Nathan. I have read and enjoyed many books of this writer so I’m always happy when I discover that she has a new book coming out. ‘I just need you’ is another new adult story but just like her previous books, the story isn’t a ‘dark’ new adult story. It has the perfect balance of a light and emotional read, with a sprinkle of suspense in it.

Kresley may wish that she is a ‘normal’ 21 year old student but she isn’t one. She is the only student in her dorm with two bodyguards, who monitor her every move. She doesn’t like it but she has come to accept it. That is one of the downsides of having very rich parents, you (and them) live with the constant fear of abduction. Because the reality is that some people will do anything they can to get their hands on a lot of money, even if they have to do bad things for it.
And when Kelsey is almost kidnapped in Paris, she herself wants and needs bodyguards to make her feel safe again. But her new young and hot bodyguard Tristan does a lot more than make her feel safe!! He makes her feel frustrated, hot and intrigued. Frustrated because during the day he treats her like some rich, spoilt princess and intrigued because at night he shows her a softer side, when he guards her against her nightmares. But who is the real Tristan, the cold, insulting guy or the caring guy at night? While Kresley is trying to find that out, danger is getting closer to her. Will she have enough time to find a way to Tristan’s heart or will danger find her first?

‘I just need you’ is again a great story. It’s an ‘enemy to lovers’ story. The story is told in both POV’s. Kresley is such a lovely character. She’s kind, intelligent, considerate, respectful, friendly, lovably and brave. It was very entertaining so see her try so hard to make her bodyguards smile. She and her friends (Elodie and Alice) even made me laugh out loud a few times, the humour is subtle but funny. Tristan is more a difficult character to get to know. In the beginning he’s very guarded almost cold, he’s bossy and arrogant but later on you discover other more softer sides to him. He is honest, mature, responsible, ambitious and of course, he’s handsome and very hot. There is an instant chemistry between him and Kresley, you could feel it in their banter too. And the secondary characters (especially Alice and Elodie) are very lovable and great too.

I enjoyed this story very much.

This is the last book of the year and honestly it kinda surprised me how much I enjoyed it. It's the first book I've read by this author but probably not the only one.

This is a bodyguard-falling-for-his-client romance so if you're a fan of this trope maybe you should check it out. It has spice but not so much of it and it's the first book in a while that made me feel it's kinda old school and it kept my interest.

There were some parts that could be more well developed but overall it was a very enjoyable read and a great book to end this year. 4⭐️

FIVE HUGE STARS.

I cannot tell you how much I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. It had everything. Drama, humour, off the charts chemistry and characters that you can relate to.

Such a brilliant read. I loved Kresley and Tristan's love hate relationship and fell head over heels for him. I loved how strong and stubborn Kresley is.

Beautifully written and fast paced, I know I'll be rereading this again very soon.

My favourite J. Nathan book to date!

Highly recommend.

Kresley is the daughter of a billionaire who is about to be raped and kidnapped at her home in Paris bc of his father’s fortune.
Months after the incident, she decides to finding her senior year of college in California. Her parents have hired bodyguards to be with her 24/7 and one of them is Tristan Stone.
Their relationship at first is somewhat bumpy since he does nothing but highlight the little importance that she gives to her safety, but she wants to live her life as normal as possible under the circumstances.
The attraction between them increases, especially when they discover the things they have in common, for example the nightmares. But Tristan is reticent to be with her since he fears that if he begins a relationship with her he will not be able to keep her safe from the imminent threats.
I ❤️the story and the beautiful HEA and I read it in one go.

“I didn’t get you a birthday gift.” My brows knit together. “I don’t need anything.”“You asked me for something last night,” he said, his voice low and gravelly. I closed my eyes, embarrassed that my memory had been spot on. “Do you remember?” he asked. “It was a request,” I explained, my voice shaking with the sudden nerves overtaking my body. “And you said requests don’t need to be—” His lips crashed down on mine. His tongue pushed inside my mouth, not waiting to request access. I opened for him and his lips devoured mine in a frenzied race. Our lips moved in sync, everything feeling so right. He was no boy struggling through a first kiss. He was a man taking what he wanted.

She glared at me. “It was a mistake? Is that really how you feel?” she asked, her lips in a tight line. I didn’t respond. Disappointment filled her eyes. “So, this is how it’s gonna be? After everything that was said, we’re gonna go back to how things were with us hating each other? Really? Coward.” She spun away from me with disgust in her tone and slammed her door, likely waking half the floor.

"You know this goes against everything I teach new recruits.” “Kissing the client?” “Falling for the client,” I admitted.

Where are our enemies-to-lovers, romantic suspense fans?? Y’all need to pick up J. Nathan’s I Just Need You today!

Kresley’s lived a privileged life—one that’s envied by many, to the point that her family’s wealth puts her life at risk. Shaken from an overseas kidnapping attempt, Kresley just wants to blend in with all the other college students, finish her degree, and make some lifelong friends. She definitely doesn’t want to deal with 24/7 security.

Definitely not 24/7 security when it’s Tristan who’s on duty. Or maybe only when it’s Tristan on duty.

Tristan did not live a privileged life. Orphaned at a young age, Tristan had to overcome a complete lack of parental oversight and make something of himself. Using his inheritance, he created his security company and has been actively involved in every aspect of the business. His first priority is the safety of his clients. Even those who want his protection the least. And even when he finds himself immensely attracted to his client.

I loved the banter and the spark between Kresley and Tristan. Loved that Tristan showed his sweet side and true colors just when Kresley needed it the most. I loved how fiercely protective he was of her—and would have been even if he wasn’t being paid to protect her. And I loved how the suspense of this romance built until everything was revealed in the end to a truly satisfying conclusion. ~ Missy, 4 stars

You know what I love about this author's work? Every time I read one of her books, I know I can just settle in for an afternoon and devour it from start to finish, reading something that's different and interesting and full of emotion. This one's decidedly new adult, with a few "what are we, 12?" moments that are typical of the genre, but the story is addictive, the characters are interesting, and the romance is compelling. There's a definite element of suspense that adds a few high intensity moments to a read that otherwise shifts between light and emotional throughout. I loved the moody, kinda intense hero and the heroine sassy enough to steal his heart. They seem like total opposites, clashing at every opportunity, but the more they get to know each other, the deeper their feelings run. It's not a perfect read but it is an engrossing one, and I finished it with a smile on my face.

The story follows Kresley, the daughter of a wealthy businessman whose life has always been anything but typical - even more so since someone set out to abduct her. Six months after the traumatic incident (a few triggers here), Kresley is trying to finish up her college degree while dealing with the frustrations of having a team of bodyguards. One of them took an instant dislike to her, and it has been nothing but bickering between them ever since. Tristan would love nothing more than to hate every part of Kresley, but he finds himself drawn to her despite his best intentions. As the two deal with the complications of falling for each other while fighting it every step of the way, they've also got to deal with the potential for danger.

I love a protective hero, and Tristan is definitely that. He's a bit of a grouch at times, but I loved just how much he cared for Kresley. There's plenty of friction and all kinds of tension, but the overall tone of the story is light with a young feel to it. There are moments when you can DEFINITELY tell that these two are young (22 and 25), and that works for a romance set on a college campus but may not be for everyone. The bodyguard/forbidden element is a major component of the story, and I thought the suspense took things up a notch. Overall, it's a story of two people who discover that they have more in common than either could've anticipated, and it builds into an uplifting, light read. I received an early copy via Grey's Promo and am voluntarily leaving a review of this suspenseful romance.

This was an enjoyable and quick read! My first from this author. I haven’t read many bodyguard books but i enjoy that trope.

Kresley and Tristan were both interesting characters, I just felt like their attraction to one another developed way more quickly then i would’ve liked. Their relationship was quite sweet though when it did develop. The climax seemed to happen quite quickly, and Kresley made a stupid decision at the time when she shouldn’t have, but things work out in a way.

The supporting characters were likable, and there wasn’t much drama outside of the main climax of the bad men searching for her, and i liked the hints of jealousy we got to see from both characters. I like that it’s dual POV.

“Fine. I’ll get in bed. But promise me Marco’s on duty tomorrow.” “Why?”“Because if you stay up all night outside my door, you need to sleep.” “It’s not your job to worry about me,” he said. “Then whose job is it?”

Honestly, that part did it for me. I loved Tristan from the moment he made his mind up that he knew exactly the kind of girl Kresley was. But what did me in was when he started realizing he didnʻt know her at all and vice versa. Kresley showed that even though she was the one needing protection, she knew that Tristan was human and wasnʻt a robot and she didnʻt value her own life and well being over him or others.

I thought Kresley was so strong and so hilarious. I loved her jokes and the way she tried to make Marco and Tristan laugh. I also love how she didnʻt let what she went through dictate her life. Tristan was IT. The way he developed feelings for Kresley slowly and then when he dove in, he was all in. That is what we love to see. His jealousy made me so happy and the way he tried to pull away from Kresley only to be pulled back in by her was my favorite. Together they were so beautiful and understood each other at a deeper level, they were more alike than they knew.

Can I just say...their first date was perfect and I was honestly waiting for something bad to happen and when it didnʻt, I was so happy that the author didnʻt make it predictable. This showed how different Tristan really was and allowed Kresley to be truly free. They both saw a side of each other that otherwise they would have to normally hide.

The story line was great, the pace was steady, and the development and HEA were everything. Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves bodyguard tropes. This is my second bodyguard trope read, but my first read by this author—but itʻs my FAVORITE! Such great writing and great characters.

5 Stars!

J. Nathan put me through quite the ringer in her brand new release and gah y'all!! I wouldn't have had it any other way quite honestly. I devoured this unforgettable beauty in one evening and all those feels, all that angst, all that heat, so much heart. I couldn't get enough of everything they threw at me.

I Just Need You Now was an intense, steamy, suspenseful, emotional journey that had me on the edge of my seat in some moments and swooning so very hard in others. I mean we have a fierce, sassy heroine, the broody, irresistible hero, and fantastic secondary characters... what more could you need?!

This is Tristan and Kresley's story and whew, these two, be still my heart. I'm a huge sucker for the forbidden-bodyguard relationship trope and they far exceeded anything I could've wanted. They had the perfection in that fine line of hate and lust... all that tension simmering between them... the push and pull they couldn't deny... coming to that pivotal moment when it all snaps. YES. YES. YES.

I've not read a bunch of this author's works but I have to say, she gets me right in my ticker every single time that I do read her.

If you like a steamy book with touches of suspense and heat then this is an absolute must read.

I highly recommend this book.

J. Nathan did it again. I was super excited to read I Just Need You as soon as I knew there was a bodyguard involved. As I've said in previous reviews, bodyguards are my catnip. Oh yes! And let me just say that Tristan was the perfect gruffy bodyguard. He and Kresley clashed from the minute they met. Neither one understood the other's history and what made them tick. They had both suffered traumas that haunted them and made it difficult for them to trust.

Tristan won over a piece of my heart when he realized Kresley was struggling with sleeping and he made it his mission to make her feel safe at night so that she could rest. Likewise, Kresley became intent on understanding Tristan better in order to know why he behaved the way he did. It was a great enemies to lovers story with some different and unique nuances. This book really did have it all....bodyguard romance....enemies to lovers....damaged hero....damaged heroine....college setting....forbidden romance (somewhat)....it was an absolute WIN!

Thank you to NABC and J. Nathan for this review copy. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are strictly my own.

I loved this one. Kresley comes from a rich family and there was a kidnap attempt on her. Even though she comes from money, she's not stuck-up. She knows she has to take her safety seriously but she just wants some normal. She transfers to a college closer to home. Tristan and Marco are her bodyguards at school. Tristan comes off as mean and cold at first. He has a job to do and it doesn't involve falling for Kresley. These two have great banter. They have this hate-love thing going and I couldn't wait for one of them to cross the line. I loved being able to get into both their heads with the story being told in dual POVs. I loved almost all the characters and hope that some get their own stories.

Any movie that references Grease 2 is a 5 star to me! Jk but seriously though that movie deserves more love! Back to Kresley and Tristan! This story was definitely packed with angst, emotion, mystery and steam! Everything I have come to love from a J Nathan book!

Tristan and Kresely were opposites in every way but when both took the time to look deeper, to notice the little things they realized that they truly weren’t so different! Both held on to demons that haunted them in the night and it wasn’t until they let each other in that they found peace in the darkness. The thing though, demons don’t want to stay hidden!

I loved the heat and the way their hate grew to understanding then lead to friendship. They were more than hot lovers they were each other’s rock!

I will say I would’ve loved to have known more about the why and also what happened to her friends? Even with some questions though I found this to be a beautiful book and now I have more J Nathan characters to love.

I loved this book! It was my first Nathan book and it did not disappoint. Enemies to lover tropes is one of my favourites and Kresley and Tristan together brought all the heat and fire you could ask for. The suspense and action of this book also hooked me right from the beginning. These two favourite things of mine when reading made this book hard to put down and deal with life when all I wanted to do was read! The banter between Kresley and Tristan made you fall in love with both of them. Kresley's sass was perfect and Tristan's moodiness made him the perfect brooding alpha male. I loved the secondary characters as well and would love to see more of them in the future! I will definitely be looking into Nathan's other books because I enjoyed every minute of this one and need more! Amazing!

This is a fast paced, entertaining read!

Kresley comes from a wealthy family and was the victim of an attempted kidnapping. Now she's at college with live in security as she attempts to finish her senior year. When she meets one of her new body guards Tristan, she begins to fall hard. I thought Kresley and Tristan had great chemistry and I was rooting for them from the beginning. I like that they had shared trauma and supported each other through hard times.

The kidnapping plot was interesting and kept the story moving. I was invested in Tristan and Marco finding the bad guys and keeping Kresley safe. The ending had a nice climax and wrapped up well.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

"He leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine, kissing me slow and purposeful. Even if this was just the shock of what happened, I still let him kiss me. I needed him and wanted him to melt into the kiss, needing it more than I needed air."

5 Protect Me Stars! J Nathan has done it again! She can do no wrong in my eyes!

Kresley comes from a rich family, and after a kidnapping attempt while away at school in Paris. She transfers to a college closer to home and she is assigned bodyguards. Tristan is one of those bodyguards and he takes his job very seriously! He wishes that Kresley would take it serious too, he sees her as a spoiled girl who doesn't take anything seriously. She can't stand him either because he's not willing to open up and he's way too serious for her blood. Together they push each others buttons, but what happens when real feelings develop?

J Nathan, can do no wrong in my eyes. I really fall in love with every book she writes and this one is no different! I loved the storyline and I loved the development of Kresley and Tristan's relationship. The push and pull they both have is so fun to read! J Nathn you've outdone yourself again!

Kresley comes from a family that has money and with that life comes with some issues like almost being kidnapped while attending school in Paris for a ransom. She doesn’t want this life and would prefer to be normal, but she knows that’s not the hand she has been dealt so she accepts her life is different like having security 24/7 and switching schools. When we first meet Tristan Stone, he is a gorgeous guy but man that attitude he has towards Kresley is so maddening. He comes off as a cocky jerk but, he is a kind guy that started a security business to help others in need and has a genuine heart, yet he automatically dislikes Kresley. The reason being he honestly thinks she is just a spoiled brat that doesn’t care about her safety at all. As we learn more about Kresley’s situation we know that his opinion is far from the truth because she kind and scared, but he still has his jerk moments. Tristan’s anger and resentment rolls off him and it frustrates Kresley like no other so their love to annoy each other ensues but chemistry is hard to deny. With her life on the line Tristan tries to stay in a strict professional mode but when he sees the true Kresley he knows he can’t deny his feelings any longer. I absolutely fell hard for Tristan and these two together are pure perfection, but can they survive what is coming for Kresley or will Tristan’s attention be divided and cause something tragic to happen? The author has a way to make readers absolutely fall in love with her heroes and adore her heroines and this book does just that.

3⭐⭐⭐

This is the first book of the author I am reading and I really enjoying her writing. It was a quick fresh read. This is a bodyguard romance novel and I have not read a lot of books of this trope but I enjoyed reading this one.

The story revolves around kresley who is the only daughter of a millionaire and people are after her to extort money from her family. She went to France for her graduation but because of an attack she had to return home and when she starts senior year two bodyguards are assigned to her and one of them is Tristan.

There is a lot of sexual frustration between the both which is visible from the very beginning and this book has a lot of angst. They started off on the wrong foot by hating each other but after spending more time with each other their opinions change. They both have their own demons and in a way they help each other to fight, overcome them.

I really enjoyed reading the character of kresley she is strong ,brave ,not a spoilsport and she values what she has and she was really funny.

So in all I liked reading this book and I'm looking forward to reading more books by the author.

I Just Need You, is splendid!!! I never knew I was a fan of bodyguards until now!! Beyond creative with the storyline, I love the way the secondary characters are amazing friends for a sweet girl.

Tristian and Kresley’s story starts off as a hate relationship. Perception and assumptions are made about each of the characters, yet they are so wrong about each other. Through time they learn that the hate is just a massive energy of sexual attraction.

With Tristan needing to keep Kresley safe, how can they allow a relationship? His number one rule would be broken, and someone may get to her. As a protector Tristan’s drive to jeep her safe will bring up old memories that he will have to face. Will he trust Kresley, allow her into his heart?

J. Nathan is one of my top 5 go to authors. She is always so creative, fresh, and intuitive with what readers what. Each time I read her books I think this is so amazing, the best. I love the growth she has with her creativity, as she becomes more talented with each story!

Kresley is from an extremely wealthy family, and while at college there is a kidnapping attempt on her life, which has agreeing to move nearer home to complete her college course. Tristan is a tough bodyguard, and when he is assigned to Kresley she drives him insane, while he tries to enforce that her life is in danger and she needs to take the threats seriously, and be more aware, while she just wants to live a normal life. The sparks fly between these two, and the chemistry is off the charts, but they know which buttons to push to set the other off, and I loved all the secondary characters in this story. This is a beautifully written story which is fast paced, intense, and has suspense, drama, and is a humorous and entertaining read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.

I really LOVED I Just Need You because I'm all about the sexy bodyguards, and frankly, we need more of them. Kresley is the daughter of a billionaire which keeps her at high risk for danger since kidnapping her would equal a big payday, so she ends up with 2 bodyguards when she comes home to attend college after a failed kidnapping in Paris. Tristan was the sexy dude who she had chemistry with, but while he feels that chemistry, he's trying his best to keep her away from him by being a bit mean. However, when the chemistry is that strong, it's just a matter of time. And since she's a spoiled(ish) young woman, she doesn't always make the best decisions (I wanted to put her in a timeout more than once). And that's all I'm saying about that. To see how it all plays out, you'll have to hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
