new author for one of my new favorite themes. sadly this one was a meh vanilla Dr. baby daddy. not badly written, just way too predictable in a boring way. liked the southern locale but everything else was lacking. only thing I could get even a little worked up for was the you’re the daddy reveal and that played out like elevator soft jazz 🙄

While I could get into why the heroine is horrible, it comes back to the author who wrote her that way. The writing needed some polishing up. There was a lot of simplistic feeling instead of showing actions. What was the motivation for their actions? Show me don’t tell me. heroine has daddy issues. But I don’t know anything about her feelings of abandonment. Her daddy left her at 2 so that is supposed to explain why she is they way she is. Stories are meant to intertwine us in fictional characters lives but I never felt like I was part of the story. Unfortunately this wasn’t the book for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I have read several books of this type but this one put a different twist to the story. Both characters did not want their connection to be a one night stand but a simple accident on one persons part made their next meeting six year apart. Not only that but their connection of the one night left a life long lasting connection and that is were things get tricky.

I love the way that Crystal made the characters seem so real and individual. I could clearly see how Sage would be hesitant on telling Barrett of their child. My heart really went out to her and her circumstances. On the other hand I could understand Barrett’s feelings as well. It was amazing to see how these two came together once again and to see how everything was going to work out.

I have to be honest though about one thing. So many authors today feel that graphic sexual acts are what sells the books. I have also admit that sadly this is true. However I truly believe that this book with such deep feelings for the characters the descriptions of their encounters really don’t add that much to the story line. Crystal Monroe is a gifted writer who in my opinion is going to really expand in her career.

horrible leading lady

The heroine in this story acted like a victim through the entire book when the hero was an amazing individual. Her number gets lost and it is all his fault according to her but she didn’t take his number, or ask his last name. Everything was poor me she hid his daughter not because he was of questionable character but because he might break her heart and because she had a crappy relationship with her own father. Ugh I hated her, he was amazing and I just wanted him to leave her sue for custody and live happily ever after. She was horrible, poor kid.

Ugh I hate to say it but...no. This was way too corny for me. A secret baby troupe is one of my favorites but this was just too sweet. Sage was annoying and kept it a secret for far too long. Barrett was upset for 2.5 seconds and then all was forgiven. The best part of this troupe is to watch the dad bond with their child and considering he found out with like 30 pages left in the book there was no time for that. If your a fan of a little conflict especially with this type of story, keep looking.

Sometimes two people are meant to have a second chance at love. Sage and Barrett met when he was out celebrating his graduation from med school and they had a steamy night together. She left her number but he lost it and tried to find her. She tried to find him when she found out she was pregnant but didn't know his last name. Fate brings them back together when she takes a job as a lawyer in his home town and her mother sets them up on a blind date. Fear pops it's ugly head and threatens their happiness. What happens when he finds out that Eden is his daughter? Do they let fate bring them together again? This is a sweet romance that ends on a happy note. The book was well written with an entertaining story line and likable characters with amazing chemistry. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a good read. Barrett and Sage have a one night stand. Years later they run into each other. He is happy but she has kept something from him all these years. This complicated things between them. However, in the end everything works out and they get their happy ending.

I wanted to love this….

I’ll start by saying secret babies are my jam. I love them. But I feel let down with this one.

Barrett and Sage met in a club in Atlanta when she was out with her college friends celebrating graduation and he was with his friends celebrating graduation medical school. They have insta-attraction and spend an earth shattering night together. In the morning she’s in such a rush to get back to her hotel to check out that she can’t wait the extra 30 seconds for him to find his cell phone, so she scribbles it on a piece of paper. Which he instantly loses. They both wanted to see where things could go, and both spend the next six years pining over the other. She also spends it raising the daughter he knows nothing about. She accepts a job in the small town he happens to live in, and their paths cross. Here is where the problems start. She believes he “used” her and never intended to call her (which let’s be real, regardless of their sparks it started as a hookup. You can’t be so mad). He is still head over heels and wants a relationship. She is supposed to be an attorney, but she is sort of TSTL. In six years she never considered what would happen if she found him? She said she would have to “start looking up Georgia child custody laws”. Really? As an attorney, particularly one more this might be pertinent, she never did that before? Then she goes on and on about how she always puts Eden first, but spends a month dating and sleeping with Barrett while hiding her existence. She tells herself she’s deciding if he’s trustworthy, but she must think he is trustworthy enough to date and sleep with.

“ I could date him without getting Eden involved for a while, and check him out. I could make sure it was safe to involve Eden before I told her about him and introduced her. I deserved a chance to be happy, right?”

What is that? She deserved a chance to be happy playing boyfriend/girlfriend before telling him he has a daughter? Pure. Selfish. She honestly behaved like a teenager and not a grown woman who is supposed to be an attorney. This book is like 90% internal dialogue, so you get front row seats to the immature thoughts. Overall, it left me frustrated.

I’m a sucker for this trope, but wasn’t crazy about either of these main characters. Very one dimensional characters with inner dialogue that made me cringe for both characters. The premise was good but execution fell short for me.

We met Barrett in Doctor Wrong and now we get to see his story and there are still sneak peaks into Whitney and Ryder's lives in this book. Barrett met Sage 6 years ago in a bar in Atlanta and they shared an incredible night together. He lost the paper she wrote her number on, but he never lost his memories of her. 6 years later they happen to meet up in his hometown in Georgia after Sage moves there for a job. What Barrett doesn't know is that the sweet girl he waited on in his clinic is his daughter that he had with Sage.

There are some ups and downs in this story, as in any love story, but there is a very sweet and swoon worthy happily ever after. Their connection is scorching and you see if from the very beginning and every time thereafter. I like the flashback at the beginning to 6 years back isn't rushed and is told through several chapters. It really sets the flavor for the book nicely. There were a few side characters in this book that I could see getting their own story next - Penny the best friend or Debbie, Sage's new boss. Personally I felt that Debbie had something going on as she was very hard on Sage when she first started working at the firm and seemed to be hot and cold in the limited interactions we see her in. There has to be more to her story there.

Sage and Barrett met one night, burned up the sheets, she wrote down her number and left in a hurry to meet with her friends as they were leaving. She never got his last name, just that he was supposed to be starting his residency. He never called her but she never forgot that night, especially two months later when she found out she was pregnant. She tried to find him but none of the hospitals where he said he would be doing his residency had a doctor with the first name Barrett.

Barrett still has not moved on from meeting Sage six years early, he still cannot believe he lost her number, why did he not put it in his phone right away? He agrees to a blind date set up by a patient, and in she walks and leaves as soon as she sees him. She is in his town, he will have to find her, he still loves her after all this time.

Sage believes Barrett ghosted her, but it is not just her involved, they have a little girl. She not sure if she should tell him, what if he leaves her after she lets him into his daughter's life, it would crush her. The chemistry between the two is still smoking. Will they have a second chance to get things right or is it better to leave the past in the past?

Barrett and Sage met and hooked up in a bar whilst celebrating their respective graduations, they spent the night together in a nearby hotel, but in the morning when she left she wouldn't wait for him to find his phone and so wrote her number down on a piece of paper which, of course, he lost!

Jump forward six years, she's a lawyer and a single parent to their five-year-old daughter, she never tried to find him to tell him about their child as she believed he'd not meant to keep in touch and had only wanted a night of sex.

In fact, he's never really stopped thinking about her in the intervening years, yes he's gone on with his life and has his own pediatric clinic in his hometown but he often thought about the girl he met. Unbeknown to both of them she's just started a job as a lawyer in the same town as him. So when her daughter got hives it was he she went to for treatment, but he had no idea she was his daughter.

Later they are both set up on a blind date by Sage's mother, when she realised it was him her first thought was to just leave but six years too late they do talk. Barrett wants to pursue a relationship, he feels they could be perfect for each other but will he still feel that way when he finds out she's kept his daughter from him?

I have to say, I was a bit hesitant about this book. When I saw it was going to be another pregnancy story, I nearly rolled my eyes. While I am getting tired of this theme, I was drawn to find out anyway. This was a very sweet story. I not only learned more about Barrett but also about the woman who got away that was briefly mentioned in the last book. Fate plays a strong role in this story and is very romantic if I say so myself. I’m hovering between giving this a 4.5 and a 5, simply because it wasn’t the best book ever but high enough to warrant a higher rating. With that being said, I opted for the high end and gave it a 5. What I enjoyed about it is the backstory with Barrett and Sage. The book went backwards, instead of starting new and fresh, it starts in the past which was different. It developed the characters and made me drawn to Sage and Barrett and invested me into the story. I also enjoyed reading about Sage and Barrett falling in love again and reconnecting. It was like it picked up right where it left off for them and it was nice to read. I’m now on the last book in this series and the very story that got me interested in the series as a whole, as this was the one I really wanted to read.

Barrett and Sage meet at a night club and there is an instant spark between them. He is celebrating becoming a doctor and she is celebrating being about to go to law school. They abandon their friends and end up spending the night together. Unfortunately, Sage has to leave early next morning as she and her friends have to check out of their hotel or be charged an extra night which they are unable to afford. Sage leaves Barrett with her phone number written on a piece of paper.

However, he loses the piece of paper and cannot find her even though he looks everywhere.

Sage is disappointed when Barrett does not contact her. She thought they had a real connection. Then Sage finds out she is pregnant. She hunts for Barrett but without knowing his surname it is impossible to find him.

Six years later they end up together on a blind date but Sage refuses to have anything to do with Barrett as she believes that he deliberately ghosted her.

This is an interesting book with a few steamy parts in it.

I loved the story.

Doctor Daddy is the story of Barrett and Sage. They meet at the end of college and have a one night stand. You know what they say, “Once is all it takes”. Since they didn’t exchange last names, they are unable to contact each other. Fast forward six years and they relocate to the same small town. Barrett, the town pediatrician, meets his daughter before reconnecting with Sage. Eventually they reconnect and end up happily ever after.

I was looking forward to this story because I enjoyed the first book in the series. I like series where characters appear throughout the different stories. I read and enjoyed the first book, “Dr. Wrong”. Unfortunately, the story did match the first. This story just dragged on for too long.

Prologues should not be six chapters long. The entire story was too long. I don’t know if the authors have to reach a certain word count but much of this story was just filler. I felt like I was dragging myself through the book. That being said, I will read the next in the series.

Sage just graduated college and is about to begin law school.
Barrett has just finished med school and is getting ready to begin his residency.
Sage and Barrett meet while out celebrating with friends and the sparks fly from first sight.
After an amazing night together, they lose touch with each other due to unfortunate circumstances.
Forward 6 years, by miraculous design, Sage and Barrett finally cross paths once again and the spark they felt that night 6 years ago is still shining bright.
But Sage has a secret and due to her own insecurities from her own childhood, she is afraid to let Barrett in on the secret. Will the secret tear them apart, or will it make the bond between them that much stronger?
This story had me from the beginning. It is so well written that it was like I was reading someone's life story. I could feel the heartbreak in the pain and the joy in the laughter. It does end with a beautiful HEA.
I highly recommend this book and can hardly wait for the next one.

Sage and Barrett meet when they graduate college/med school. After their night together Sage has to leave quickly, but Barrett agrees to ring her later.

Unfortunately, Barrett loses Sages number and even though he tries everything to find her, he isn't able to.
As Barrett doesn't call Sage, she thinks that Barrett just used her for sex and when she finds our she us pregnant she decides to keep the baby.

6 years later, Barrett gets set up on a blind date who happens to be Sage. She runs away but when he tracks her down and tries to explain why he didn't contact her years ago she doesn't want to believe him and thinks he is using excuses.

Now its up to Barrett to prove to Sage how he feels about her. But what will happen when he finds out they have a child together.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend reading it.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Gertrude "Sage" Barclave and Barrett Finley. When this story opens we find that both of them had just graduated from college and were on to knew things. Sage to law school & Barrett his internship to finish becoming a doctor. They had one incredible night together. The next morning they were rushed and so Sage gave Barrett her number on a piece of paper. The inevitable happened it got lost. Now six years later without knowing it they are both living in the same city. The thing is Sage has their daughter that Barrett knows nothing about. Can these two find a HEA or will their rein of bad luck continue?

Amazing story from this author. The ups and downs these two go through will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Second Chance at Love

This is my first story I've read by Crystal Monroe & I was totally absorbed into reading "Doctor Daddy". It was not rushed & started with a one-nighter with a permanent reminder of an awesome night together. Both Sage & Barrett have an instant connection & it takes them 6 years to find each other again. It was like time stood still when they meet again. Sage is the overprotective mama & needs the reassurance that Barrett will be a good father to their daughter once he finds out the truth he's a father. He works at developing a stronger bond between Sage & with his new daughter, Eden. I love how the story works out with a family being brought together & the parents realizing they can have a HEA. If this story is any indication on Crystal Monroe's other novels, I will look forward into reading more of her creations.

Some things are meant to be

Doctor Daddy is the second book in the Doctors Down South series. The story is about Barrett and Sage and has an interesting twist to it. It all started when Barrett and Sage met at a bar while they were celebrating their graduations. They ended up spending the night together at a hotel and had more than a little private celebration. The next morning she goes to leave and he wants her number, so she gives it to him. The only problem is that he lost the piece of paper he wrote it on. It is now six years later when their paths cross again in a very unexpected way. She is a lawyer who has just moved to a new town to start a new job. With her is her sweet and beautiful five year old daughter. He is a doctor who is about to learn a big lesson in the "birds and bees".

Barrett and Sage met six years ago, skyrockets fired and when they separated the next day, he lost the paper with her phone number on it. They only had each others first names and that they were both in college, he was in medical school and she was in law school. Over the six years, she became a single mom with help from her own single mother. Now both back in the same town in Georgia, they keep crossing paths and finally give each other a sporting chance. Just telling him about the little girl gets a bit dicey as to what will happen.
The characters are terrific as they deal with their backstories and feelings. Luckily they both felt the same over that six years and kept looking for each other. The storyline had good flow as the near misses and high emotions took their toll. Loved their chemistry and how important family was to them all.

Their Trip Of A Lifetime -
After Barrett and Sage’s night of unbridled pleasure, they planned to keep in touch and explore the potential of a relationship, but an unfortunate event changed their plans. They realised the chemistry was still between them when they met years later, but the hurt from Sage’s past made it difficult for them. However, Barrett would soon discover that night years ago, was the beginning of the bumpy road of their lives.

The sizzling sexual encounters, romance, secrets, small town feelings and emotional moments, makes this a fantastic story that will keep you entertained and engrossed, whilst you turn the pages. I have only read a handful of Crystal Monroe’s books and I can say she is becoming one of my favourite authors, whose books I look forward to reading.

I received a free copy of the steamy Peachwood, Georgia set novel Doctor Daddy: A Secret Baby Romance: Doctors Down South book two: Sage and Barrett by Crystal Monroe, and this review was given freely.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Irony, a strong attraction that spans years, near misses, an adorable little girl, and an interfering mother are just a few of the things that make this steamy second chance at love story with an unplanned pregnancy interesting and captivating.
A one-night stand during a girls' night out to celebrate their undergraduate college graduation comes back to haunt Attorney Gertrude “Sage” Barclave and Pediatrician Barrett Finley when fate, friends, and family push them together.

I was very excited to read this second book as I enjoyed Dr Wrong. Barrett and Sage met at a nightclub six years earlier. After an amazing night together they go their separate ways with Barrett promising to call Sage. Unfortunately that doesn’t happen and even though they both look for each other without complete contact information it’s impossible. Barrett was easy to fall in love with from the beginning, he was so real. Sage on the other hand was a hard character to connect with. There were so many choices I disagreed with, she was hard to read. Halfway through I was ready for the story to end, it was difficult to finish. Normally I don’t count the chapters till the end I’m so lost in the book I don’t keep track. The first book was definitely better.

Missed the first book but I enjoyed this story. Sage and Barrett have the most amazing night together. He was celebrating medical school. After that night he tried to find Sage as he'd lost her number. Sage looked for him for two months. Now it 6 years later and there is a lot of water under the bridge. Her Mom set her up with a blind date and when Sage sees who it is she just turns and walks out. Sage has a secret that Barrett doesn't know about and she is afraid to let Barrett in on the secret. When Barrett finds out what Sage is worried about will it destroy their relationship or bring them closer together. Some drama, amazing chemistry and great characters. Will they fight to reach their HEA and become a family? I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Meant to be
Doctor Daddy by Crystal Monroe is a heartwarming secret baby, second chance, fated/meant to be romance. It seems that fate has kept Barrett and Sage apart all this time, but it’s also fate that brings them back together.
The plot is fraught with fear of the unknown, maintaining walls and protecting Eden for Sage and the absolute certainty, determination and persistence of Barrett. It’s a mental battle on both of their parts and really, they just need to get out of their own heads to allow their hearts to lead them in the right direction!
Overall, fate will not allow fear to deny what is clearly meant to be, a HEA for Sage and Barrett, together at last and their family made whole.

Crystal Monroe has written a story about a couple that meet one night, fall instantly in love and then lose each other. The writer took the time to develop the characters to point the reader was invested in their success and/or failure. When these two people met they were celebrating graduating from college. The chance meeting resulted in an instantaneous attraction. Unfortunately, circumstances conspired to keep them apart. Of course, that happens when you only get first name. Throughout the story the writer brought her reader along for the ride. This book is well written and developed. I felt myself invested in what happened to the characters and not just the main characters

This is a nice story about Barrett who is a doctor and Sage who had a one night stand and he then disappeared without her knowing how to get in touch with him also to let him know she is pregnant with him

If or the universe playing with it, they meet again years later. Barrett wants a second chance with her, but is unaware that he is the father of a daughter.
This was a beautiful story about second chances and doing anything to get that chance and a chance at happiness. This is definitely recommended!!
