I was SO excited to read this book. The blurb really intrigued me. And the cover is beautiful.
So, did the book live up to my excitement?
Abso-friggin’-lutely.
To be super transparent here, supernatural and/or paranormal reads aren’t usually my go-tos. I’ve been pushing myself to check out different tropes this year, and Story had advertised this book in one of the reverse harem fb groups I’m in. I’m so glad they did, because man, this book was impossible to put down. The first chapter or two was slow, and i had to push through it hoping the story would pick up quickly. And did it ever.
Our FMC is Avalon, and her bestie/ adopted sister is Gabby. Both are elementals and have unique powers due to that. In the supernatural world, they are at the top of the ladder….and honestly, quite snobby/rude to the rest of the supernatural world. They don’t mingle with the rest of the world and look down on everyone else. 🤦🏽♀️.
There’s a third elemental named Peter whom the girls grew up with. He becomes a “golden child” who gets all the praise from Avalon’s dad- whom is the big boss in the elemental world so to speak. All three were super close growing up, but they drifted apart with Peter “ghosting” them and become a teacher’s pet to the dad.
To skip ahead a tad, all three enter a competition together to try to find the missing crown that’s SO very important to every realm. This story follows their journey in the competition, and we meet several other supernaturals that intrigue Avalon and draw her eye. Her feelings towards Peter change as well.
I won’t spill anymore details so I won’t ruin anything, but from chapters 3 or 4 until the final page, I could NOT stop reading. I’m highly intrigued by Krios and Athan, and I’m bummed I now have to wait a few months for book two!!! Yes - this ends on a cliffhanger. :(. But I immediately preordered book two- so that should tell you have crazy good this book is.
If you’re into slow burn, dystopian, supernatural, reverse harem books, you won’t be let down with this book. 💜💜💜👹🧛😇🐉👺🐺

Okay so I’m not usually a survival games person but dang do I love this story. There is so much happening and never a dull moment. I couldn’t put it down and am already in love with all the characters.
We start we Avalon on a mission with her best friend Gabby. They are supposed to take out a target who knows too much. The mission doesn’t go as planned but they do learn something interesting. The next day Gabby’s dad sends her out to find some more information about what they heard. While out they run into Peter an old friend who ghosted her to become her father’s, go-to man. They catch a crowd and go to see what is going on. From there they find out about the Deadly Wishes a game to see who can survive pretty much whatever is thrown at them. The price? The lost Sapphire crown that's been missing for years. From there they enter the games and meet a few others who end up joining them. Athan, a vampire, Krios, a fallen angel, and Thorn a demon. With their supernatural skills and Avalon. Gabby, and Peter’s elemental powers they are a force to be reckoned with. But the games aren’t so easy and with others trying to kill them there are a ton of obscures they have to overcome.
This story isn’t only about the fight to survive we are also awarded with some serious steam. Avalon and the guys can feel something between them and can’t resist the urge to test their feelings. I enjoyed seeing how the guys acted around Avalon but one of my favorite things was that even though they were protective of her she didn’t let them boss her around and showed just how strong she is. Of course, as much as I love Avalon and her guys I can’t not talk about my favorite character. Gabby is simply amazing. She says what she wants and doesn’t hold back. What most think is humor is just her personality. I honestly couldn’t get enough of her. You would think with the book mostly revolving around mountains and climbing the author would get tired of the cliffs but this just goes to show you that even though she is new to the writing world she still knows how to toss us off the ledge. Now I am going to stalk her until she promises me nothing bad will happen to my babies.

Man, this book surprised the hell out of me in the best way possible. It was filled with action, tension, and some HEAT.
Avalon has grown up to be the best soldier, always trying to impress her father, who just pushes her to the side. Being part of a powerful family, she believes that she owes it to him to be perfect. While on a mission, she gets sucked into The Deadly Wishes Competition with her best friend/partner in crime, Gabby, and also her ex-best friend/arch nemesis, Peter.
In this survival competition, the winners get the Sapphire Crown, which was stolen from Avalon’s people. Every person has a different agenda on why they need that crown. As they further in this competition, most of them are not prepared or expecting the savageness of it.
Along the way, some new members are wanting to join their group. A vampire, fallen angel, and demon all want to be part of their team. They all have different reactions with one another due to a history of hatred/prejudice between each other’s supernatural. But, they all feel a connection with Avalon, and are willing to somewhat be around each other to try to get to Avalon.
Their group comes across a bunch of different challenges throughout the course. There was a lot of action, in more ways than one *wink wink*. We get some STEAM. Their dynamic is interesting as a whole, I really liked how they respected Avalon and how she was not afraid to fight. A lot is happening, and you just have to prepare yourself to be engrossed with this story. I absolutely loved it, and after that ending, I need the next one!

Gabby is the best friend that everyone should have. She is freaking hilarious 🤣. It shouldn’t be a shock that my favorite quote of this book is from her.
Ok, now on to the rest of the book. Story Brooks has created an awesome paranormal world & this book is full of twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down and I cannot wait for book 2.

My first Story Brooks novel, and I’m obsessed! A fast paced survival game story. You meet Avalon and Gabby first, and their relationship is everything. I am completely obsessed with Gabby, she’s hilarious without trying. Peter was an old friend of Avalon who has elemental powers. She then meets Athan a Vampire, Thorn a demon, and Krios a fallen Angel. They are a complete dynamic force, with lots of sexual tension. They have to work through their attraction while trying to survive. Waiting for the next installment with baited breath. 10/10

Oh my sweet lord! THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. I hadn't read anything by Story, but from the first page, I was hooked and wanted more. The magic system and world-building are superb. There are so many layers to the different races and realms and we've only scratched the surface in book one. There are some massive truth bombs dropped here and I can't wait to see how they develop as the series goes on.
We meet Avalon and her BFF Gabby as they are on a mission to take out a human who knows too much about their world (it doesn't happen often but when it does the supes need to take care of the leak) From there we get a creepy prophecy and a lead to follow. We meet Peter, her childhood BFF but now nemesis along the way. The real meat and potatoes of the story comes when Gabby, Peter and Avalon accidentally enter a death race/Hunger Games-like competition - the prize is a priceless crown that's been stolen from their people for decades.
This leads to her meeting the rest of her new crew and harem. We've got Peter the Pecker, Athan the cold vampire, Thorn the sexy as sin demon prince, and Krios the quiet fallen angel. We also get my favourite character Tibblet - he's not part of the harem, but his know-it-all sassy nature won me over immediately.
There's a pretty big cliffhanger at the end of this one, so I'm stoked to get the next one as soon as possible.

After entering the competition, they team up with Athan (a Vampire), Thorn (a Demon), and Krios (a Fallen Angel), and an adorable know-it-all Goblin, Tibblet (not part of the harem, he’s got his own little Goblin wife he’s devoted to!). Each person has their own reasons for wanting the Sapphire Crown, which throws a little intrigue in there, leaving you wondering about everyone’s motivations. The team has to work together to get to the top of the mountain, battling deadly obstacles that come their way. The action and tension are intense! And the heat gets turned up as each male realizes they are drawn to Avalon, and she to them. 🔥

I absolutely loved The Reaping. I don't read a lot of PNR books, but this one is so unique that I had to read it. As the series title suggests, it is a game of survival and a fight to the prize at the end of the games.
We meet Avalon along with her friend Gabby and they are thick as thieves. They feed off each other and Gabby definitely brings some of that comedic relief we all need in these books. Avalon has only grown up knowing what it's like to be a soldier for her father and sees her opportunity to prove her worth by entering The Deadly Wishes competition, Gabby in tow.
I love the rag tag group that has come together for this mission - Avalon & Gabby, their childhood friend/not so much friend any more, Peter, a Vampire named Athan, a Demon named Thorn and a Fallen Angel named Krios.
I was completely sucked into this world and I am fully invested in these characters. There is so many things going on that I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. By the end I was SO sure it was going to go one way and now I am questioning EVERYTHING.
I NEED ANSWERS! I cannot wait for The Chase!

Avalon and her boys and the lore and the creatures..and this mystery. Just. Yes. I. Am. Addicted. Again. I always get stuck on the mystery in a good plot/storyline. Easiest way to reel me in, dangle an acehole above my jeans, and feed me a good mystery. I will walk right into the trap willingly, and you have a reader for life. 💯💯
I love how Avalon is highly unsure of the mate bond with her Fated in this book while also dealing with family drama(in a sense) and I was right. Krios, ironically enough, is indeed my favorite of her boys. Just. 👏👏👏👏
The steam/tension is enough to make up for the lack of sex scenes in this book. If you're not one to read a lot of sex scenes but love good tension, The Reaping is totally for you. It all fits beautifully and doesn't feel rushed or out of place at all.
Also. Tibblet. 😍😍 I don't think I need to say more. Tibblet will speak for himself in The Reaping. Definitely read to find out about Tibblet!! 🥺🥺

This is a fun adventure-style book, with a similar feel to Hunger Games. I love the world-building, with the different supernatural species, a rich history of the world and inhabitants, and the way magic and special abilities work there. The characters are interesting! Avalon and Gabby’s friendship is inspiring and hilarious- Gabby’s unfiltered outbursts had me literally laughing out loud. The men that join their team in the competition for the crown are all unique individuals with different personalities and histories, which come across well thanks to the multi-POV writing. Avalon’s relationships with a couple of the men are a bit perplexing, as she starts out with negative and/or conflicting emotions toward them and then moves to romantic feelings rather quickly without much resolution to previous issues. I have a feeling that this might come into play in future books though! The spice is medium-burn and the plot is fascinating and keeps you guessing as you go, with a few surprises tossed in. Overall, I enjoyed this story and will absolutely read the next one.

Avalon has spent her life training to be the best, as was expected by her father. When a mission goes ari she learns of her betrothal to her best friend turn enemy Peter. I absolutely adore Avalon, her strength and her willingness to go into a fight head first.
Upon discovering the Deadly Wishes Competion Avalon knows she has to enter because the prize is the coveted Sapphire Crown that has been missing for years. With the support of the best, best friend ever Gabby and Peter together they enter but they're not prepared for the brutality that is to come.
I love the guys that join Avalons team Athan, Krios and Thorn. The connection that they have with her is a tangible thing their need to explore it grows as they battle to survive the challenge. As their bond grows and their protectiveness of Avalon increases I love how she is still able to be herself and face everything head on.
That ending, that ending..... I NEED to know!!!

Creative start to the series
After reading the blurb I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a supernatural version of The Hunger Games or not. This Reaping ended up being so much better. The creativity that the author wielded for the story was just magical. There are lies, deception, manipulation, some romance and steam and, of course, plenty of twists and turns.
There can only be one victor so although our heroes are currently working together, keyword is currently, this pact is going to be tested. It already has been but I’m sure it’s going to get worse. Just when we thought things were going one way, the author completely threw us for a loop, especially with that final chapter.
I am thoroughly enjoying this saga, I’m loving the twists and turns and not knowing what’s going to happen next, both with the characters and within the game. I am prepared to be heartbroken while being on the edge of my seat.

Now when I tell you that my Peter Pan obsession is soul deep then know how much I died inside when Avalon was referred to as Peters Wendy. Full on fan girl glee!!!

If I could make one change that would be Avalon and Gabby running off together, for real I think it would be perfect. Sadly both seem to be into guys. Although... Armon? Hell yes. I will take that leap.
As much as I loved the interaction between Avalon's love interested and meeting their characters and seeing there personalities there was one guy that stole my heart and as far as I'm concerned her can keep it. Tibblet is goals. Can't change my mind. His wife is one lucky wee lass.
My jaw hit the floor with the shock factors and I'm still recovering from some of them. Cannot wait to see what Book Two has in store for us and I also can't wait to dig into more of Story Brooks books.

I’ve been Reaped and I loved it
Story Brooks is my latest obsession! The Reaping is a fast paced survival game story.
This book had me hooked from the very first page. Avalon and Gabby are best friend goals, like seriously BEST FRIEND GOALS!!!!
Peter is Avalon and Gabby’s childhood friend who turned into their nemesis. I can tell that there is a story behind why Peter turned against the girls. We do get little hints about why but not the full story. Peter ends up joining the girls when they enter the games.
Once they enter the game they meet Athan, Thorn, Krios and Tibblet. Tibblet is not a part of the harem but I feel like he’s an intricate part of the story, plus he’s just so stinking cute 🥰
The Reaping is a PNR RH that does end on a cliffhanger….

Story Brooks took us on such an adventure with this book. You get plot with plenty of action and twist and turns. You get a hilarious and ride or die best friend, yeah Gabby I'm looking at you over there. You get a strong and powerful heroine who isn't afraid to face whatever is thrown at her head on. Then you have the guys... They are protective and oh so delicious. Also, a major plus for me in this book is it wasn't run down with s*x scenes but y'all the steam and sexual tension in this book was so freaking good and I'm still over here fanning myself. Now I do have to talk about that ending because Story Brooks done went and threw me over the cliff without a safety harness. I can not wait for book two!

The Reaping is a reverse harem paranormal romance with some serious Hunger Game vibes which I absolutely loved. I really like all of the characters except for Peter which was an instant dislike for me. Athan, Thorn and Krios are very intriguing characters. I can’t wait to find out more about them.
I absolutely love the friendship between Avalon and Gabby. I like the way they have each other’s back and their banter made me laugh out loud so many times.
I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book especially after that cliffhanger

I didn’t know what to expect when I first went into this but it did NOT disappoint.
I was sucked in from page one alllllll the way to the end, the writing was flawless and the story was brilliant. There was a massive plot twist/cliffy at the end and I will now be sitting in a corner crying until I get book 2😩

This book pulled me from the first page. Avalon and Gabby are gold. Their banter and friendship is amazing! I love the guys I can’t wait to learn more about their back story. The ending left me very concerned and slightly scared so Story I beg you do not break my heart. I can’t wait for book two! I am already obsessed with this story and need more!!

Well....I read the 1st chapter at the end of Deadly Seven series & got hooked....so I downloaded it & blasted through it & now....now I'm desperate to know what comes next & let's not even get started on the teaser for Foreverland.....not fair at all.

Definitely likes this way more than I thought I would. This is a new author to me and I can say that she’ll be one of my favorites going forward. This has a twisted survival game, RH, PNR going on with lots of secrets to keep you guessing. I cannot wait for the second book because the ending left me reeling!

Avalon is an elemental (and oh boy do I love her and her sassy friend Gabby)
Both of them followed by Peter the golden boy (he got a tender heart underneath I know it) enter the games to retrieve the lost sapphire crown.
They team up with athan a vampire, krios the angel, thorn the demon
And the exceptionnal platonic helper Tiblet.
The games is divided and their first step? Climbing a ruthless mountain.
I am hard-core pnr lover, I am always overjoyed when I see different types of creatures
Elemental, demon, vampire, troll, goblin, dragon ? What more could we ask?
This book is in the fast burn side as Avalon do the horizontal tango with one of the guys and we are all here for it 🌶️🌶️🌶️
