A beautiful patience

Rate this book
It sometimes may be hard to factor in contemplation and determination in the fast-paced life that the current day and age provide. Nevertheless, there stands a timeless fountain of wisdom that lasts through ages, the Quran's purely divine words hidden. Through the profound teachings of Surah Yusuf, "A Beautiful "40 Life Lessons from Surah Yusuf" helps to mold readers into individuals who are well-equipped to deal with the challenges in life. It seemingly narrates the same story, that of Jacob's favorite son Yusuf, but presents forty priceless lessons that convey the depth of life matters. Dreams' Prelude From the outset, the readers are sucked into the captivating tear of Surah Yusuf in the initial chapter. Instead of this part showing only his dreams, it tries to teach that following dreams sometimes might require you to become a pillar, like a character in the story who keeps chasing his dream no matter what the obstacles are. Handling Envy This chapter expresses jealousy's case study, seen through Prophet Joseph's eyes. Readers understand that the deadly sin of envy can lead to all sorts of fallacies and that one needs persistence and tolerance to sail through the turmoil. Therefore, through his experiences, the main character finishes learning this truth. The Betrayal Tapestry When an author uses lying in the story of Surah Yusuf, it gives the reader something to contemplate-- i.e. the fact that lying and trust are all very connected. It is in this part where readers are reminded to practice patience because a betrayal is a good test for the present moment since it helps one grow as a person. The Resilience Well The Punishment by the king of Egypt who threw Prophet Yusuf into the well is a symbol of the troubles that we go through in life. In this chapter, resilience becomes the subject matter. It delves into the deeply profound wonder emanating from the learned art of being patient but, at the same time, unwavering in the journey of darkness and endless sadness.

This book honestly felt like a conversation with a friend. It is simple and yet to the point. I really enjoyed how the author / Ustadh not only stated what the lessons were from different parts of the Prophet’s life but also added in tidbits such as; the viewpoint of psychologists (different forms of criticisms), morphological breakdown of words (link between hubb, love and habbah, seed) and their own two cents such as ‘life is such that nothing is a coincidence”. It is super digestible and one that I would recommend you get for your young children & siblings or anyone else that is not familiar with the surah, it’ll be a beautiful introduction (no pun intended).

Side note: I read the chapter on consulting others at a really good time. I just got off the phone after panic calling a friend because I made a decision in haste. Felt super calm after reading the lesson on it, truly nothing is a coincidence, alhamdulilah!

“…though we might not know what is happening to us and what the outcome might be in life, God certainly does know for He is Al-'Alīm - possessing knowledge of what was and what is. Not only this, He also knows precisely why He has decreed something for us in that moment and why it is actually good because He is Al-Hakīm - The All-Wise.”

could have literally highlighted every single page and word in this book as it is full of so many incredible reminders and advice.

may Allah swt bless and reward the author abundantly, ameen <3

I wouldn’t say it was the most perfectly written, but my God, it left an impact. I think I’ll be thinking about this one for a while. Surah Yusuf is such a beautiful Surah as it is. He was so inspiring.
