Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.

Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.

Don't care what nobody says, this book is a GOOD TIME ! If you're in for a book that refreshing, fun, and full of energy, this is the one ! We've seen stories like this done before, its like Iron Fist meets a hint of Dragon Ball. This was so much fun and its a fast paced read !

Okay, so I enjoyed this and I think I will continue it...but I'm just a little surprised by how narratively generic it all felt.
Everything from the characters to the overall setting and premise just feels SO paint-by-numbers...and while the resulting picture IS still pleasant to look at, you can't shake the feeling that you've seen the same picture telling the same kind of story countless times before.

Higher than a 3 but not quite a 4. Lets say 3.5
Overall it’s a well told story. There are lots of fun action sequences and dialogue amounts vary with the story.
The art is very nice but I just don’t like the wispy colours being overused throughout. Looks like the printers failed to print the colours. This is probably my biggest mark against it.
I loved the characters, I Loved the outfits and I loved the scenes.
If this is just book one, I’m in to see where it goes next!

Recommended by a follower of mine to read this book and what an enjoyable read it was! A truly action packed story with lots of twists and turns along the way with an ample amount of character building placed in! Kirkman is clearly a great writer and has got the skill down to a T, and Samnee compliments his work so well! An absolute dream team!

I love the family dynamic and I really enjoyed how such a simple concept has been fleshed out to this fantastic (half) of a story!

I'm really looking forward to picking up book two!

Fire Power Book One By Robert Kirkman and Chris Samnee is an excellent beginning to hopefully a long lasting story that follows Owen Johnson as he goes on a journey to learn about his Birth parents he never got to meet but gets led on a much different path than he ever expected

The plot for Fire power is nothing new, and i think Kirkman knew that, even though i’ve seen this type of story before there was something special about it this time, the characters were VERY charming and interesting from the start which is always something you want to get in a comic, and the Samnee art is really the highlight of this book, a lot of the story is told strictly through the art and kirkman really couldn’t have picked a better person to handle that job, i won’t spoil anything but especially in the prelude there is a bunch of spectacular panels that made me say wow out loud, after the prelude the story slowed down a little to focus more on the family elements and the story of the clans that we learned a lot more about in the first 12 issues which i appreciated, this book had a lot more twist and turns than i expected it to have, i just know Kirkman has some crazy stuff planned for the future

my only issue with this book is it’s ongoing so i will be waiting ages for another volume of these beautiful hardcovers 😅

Super simple story, barely any words to read, but fun!

It's a kung-fu story with some twists, but it's very linear, easy to follow and a very fast paced read. This book can easily be read in a single setting in about an hour, since there's way more action than talking here. There are some plot twists, but most of them can be seen from miles away.

The artwork is fantastic, the artist is able to convey the kung-fu fighting really well to the panels.

I'm happy to read the next volume, although this book stops at a point, where the comic simply could have ended.

My single gripe with the story: The protagonist Owen is an invincible killing machine, who never loses a single fight and can spam his hadoken without any effort. Aside from him protecting his family, there's barely any stakes, since he is just too powerful.

Still a very fun read -> recommended!

Fire Power by Robert Kirkman & Chris Samnee

I love everything Kirkman does and Samnee is a hell of a artist so this kungfu comic was kind of a no brainer, its a bit of a mix between Ironfist and Doctor Strange, but it works, and Kirkman nows how to make the story flow fast and make it his own. The action scenes are ridicoulously fast paces ans keep the story going as this has not to much dialogue. Its a pretty big hardcover but i just finished it in a couple sit downs. Really fun fast paced book. Killer artwork. Whats not to love?!

There's no doubts about it, Kirkman, Samnee, Wilson and Wooton solidified the fact that they have a new hit on their hands. Fire Power is a crowning achievement of how something so simple and usually boring can be intriguing and interesting. This is a new take on a somewhat classic matter. As for art, Chris Samnee is great. Fire Power is a deeply real and adult take on a martial arts world with stunning and measured art to go with it. It has the page turning quality to keep readers hooked and feels poised to deliver on the promise of so much more to come. One of my favorites right now.

Got recommended this book. it was really good for what’s essentially a graphic novel. Robert Kirkman is brilliant, and the storyline was both nuanced and reminiscent of comic books, that I used to read as a kid. Really brought me back. I like the characters enough that I would be willing to keep reading this series, Owen’s motivation to just live a normal life and be done with his past is very relatable. Top-tier artwork too.

Hot damn! I was hoping for this to be a good read, but it was a great time! There were definitely some Iron Fist vibes at first, but I love the direction the story has taken and cannot wait to read Book Two next!

A really good read. Very likable characters with a good twist. The vegetarian dog “peanut butter” was my favorite character. Would highly recommend and excited to read book 2
