Told from Leila's POV
The Paragon agreed to Leila's request/demand for some time to train with a few vampires before her transfer to the Night Court. Josh, Gavino, Celstrina and Rupert train her on different weapons, while teasing Rupert about his budding relationship with the wizards, which he continues trying to deny despite the obviousness of it all.

This is best placed as a prequel for Crown of Shadows and a #3.75 for Hall of Blood and Mercy

The congrats card the vampires sent to Leila was the best bit of this one.

This takes place right at the beginning of Court of Midnight and Deception. It has some spoilers for the first book in that trilogy, so maybe read it after you've read that series, not just Hall of Blood and Mercy. But definitely worth picking up.
