Pursuing Peacefulness in Christ

Rate this book
Do you wish life were a bit more peaceful and uplifting? This is possible with a traumatic brain injury - even with a traumatic brain injury. Christ can provide us with calmness and contentment when we feel crazy.

Those of us facing a traumatic brain injury would often appreciate it if the world would simply press pause so that we would have time to catch up with all that is transpiring around us. However, pushing the pause-button is generally not an option.

Patina Malinalli is an up and coming author who published her first eBook, "What Can I Do Now That I Have a Traumatic Brain Injury?" in 2021.  She has an interest in reaching out to people who face a traumatic brain injury like the one she herself sustained in a car accident.  Pursing Peacefulness in Christ focuses on how we can pursue peace in times of trauma.

2.5 stars, maybe?
The author shares her experience and tips about finding rest and peace while dealing with a traumatic brain injury. Some of the things she talked about felt very irrelevant (like efficient shopping habits), and she tended to digress a lot and get off track. She also repeated herself often and said many similar things, and I found the writing to be a bit mundane overall. With some things I was just, like, "what?" because I didn't see how that related to the main point of the book.

Honestly, not a very stimulating read. But maybe that's just because I read it right after coming back from working at an English summer-school/day-camp and I was in a completely exhausted state of mind. Still, though, I won't be rereading this. It felt more like a person's ramblings on life in general with a few spiritual maxims and thoughts and poems thrown in here and there rather than a book that actually focused on teaching you something. However, I do give the author credit for pushing through her struggles and looking to Christ through it all. I'm happy for her that she's found peace in the midst of her TBI.

Great book for those who feel like they have to do everything, especially for those with a traumatic brain injury (the author really targets and speaks to those folks through her writing, scriptures, and custom poetry).
