i loved every page on this short story , i was hooked from the beginning , i love reading about vampires , wear wolves but from what i gather the series has many other monsters involver do ,im really looking forward to reading more in the kingdom trials :)

I was just getting into this one and it ended so suddenly. I have so many questions that I need answers to. I would have loved to read more...

I found this prequel tale of a land made up of all the different paranormals (fae, werewolves, vampires etc) a little too rushed to really get involved with. It read to me more like a contemporary American YA paranormal short, with little in the way of describing the world to make it seem fantastical. The fae characters come across as just a normal family, albeit with the potential to do magic. There's a bit of sudden fated mates romance and something about a war with a king of all the paranormals, but there wasn't much detail to go on to give it that hook factor for me. A large chunk of the book is taken up with a preview of the main series, making this a very short read.

Two years ago Ensley's brother up and left not long after the Kingdom Trials that seemed to change him leaving Ensley as next in line to rule, only problem is she is having trouble accessing her magic. Her parents have her start working with Oren to bring out her magic, what if she finds more than her magic in the process? As her parents visit with King goes awry leading her father to challenge King Alix for the throne, yet her parents are both murdered before the day of the challenge. As Ensley begins ruling Fae and hoping for vengeance for her parents death yet betrayal could lead to the downfall of not only her but the entirety of Fae lands.

Ensley, the human-trendiest Faery Queen ever imagined, is awfully cool about the loss of her family and of her kingdom. In the magical world where they belong, Ensley and her people are conquered and banished from their land. That's the prequel to a series about their adventures in hiding among humans, in a world more like ours.

It's an interesting plot premise, anyway. I found Ensley hard to take, but other readers might want to read more about her subjects trying to pass for humans.

This is a great series. This story is needed to give you the background into why the Fae kingdom was banished and about King Duras' rule.

I recommend reading this book as part of the series.

This book had me gripped waiting to find out how the fae sorted out King Alix but I thought it ended too quickly. It left me wanting to carry on reading about how the fae settled into the human realm so that it was easy to continue to follow the characters in the next book but I feel there is a chunk of the story missing.

Honestly, I was not expecting much from a novella. I was wrong. I love finding a little gem that will pull you in and have you hooked and ready for a journey through a series.
