I was really gripped by the first few books of this series, and still remain interested in the end result. However, things are getting repetitive. Predictable. And sometimes downright frustrating when the main character acts a certain way over and over again. I think this series would have been much better if kept to 3-4 books tops.

these books are so predictable 😭 she thinks she catches the killer in like the last 5 chapters and then suddenly has a realisation she's wrong and works out the real killer just before anything serious happens in the last chapter 💀

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Girl Six: Forsaken by Molly Black (Audiobook Review)
Book six in the Maya Grey series, Girl Six: Forsaken, was another gripping installment that kept me hooked. This time, the case takes on an eerie twist as victims are discovered strung up like puppets, and Maya has to unravel the disturbing meaning behind the killer’s signature before it’s too late.
What really raised the stakes in this book was the personal element—Maya’s sister’s life is on the line, which made the story feel even more intense and emotional. I liked how Molly Black managed to balance the chilling details of the case with the urgency and heart Maya brings to the investigation.
As always, the audiobook narration was okay and could have been a little stronger. The pacing kept me engaged, and while there were a few moments that felt a little drawn out, the mystery was satisfying and had me guessing until the end.
Overall, this was another solid entry in the series—dark, suspenseful, and full of twists. I’m excited to keep following Maya Grey’s journey and see what comes next.

Really!! Maya walks in a house by herself. She doesn't wait for her partner or police.

Just curious, is she doing this for her sister? I don’t think she says it enough. That part is really annoying but not annoying enough for me to stop reading the series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)

Girl Six: Forsaken by Molly Black continues the Maya Gray series with more of the same: short, fast, and addictive — but also predictable, surface-level, and easy to forget.

At just 182 pages, it’s another breezy, bite-sized read you can finish in a single sitting. The pacing is relentless — you get the setup, the investigation, and the resolution all at breakneck speed. It’s satisfying in that instant-gratification way, but there’s little time for tension to truly build, and the twists don’t land with much impact. Most of it you see coming.

What does continue to work is the slow-burn progression of the Moonlight Killer arc. We’re edging closer to answers, and it adds some ongoing tension to an otherwise formulaic structure. Still, it’s moving at a drip-feed pace, stretched thin over too many books.

The characters remain functional rather than emotionally deep. Maya is easy to root for, but not particularly nuanced — the series just doesn’t give her the space for more introspection or complexity. Everything is in service of the plot.

And speaking of the plot — it’s fine. Solid. Clean. But once again, it’s all very familiar. The structure rarely changes, and while each book brings a new setting and case, they’re starting to blend together. The result is a series that’s easy to binge and strangely addictive, but also highly forgettable.

Girl Six: Forsaken is another quick hit in a consistently fast-paced series. It delivers what fans expect — just don’t expect it to linger in your mind after the final page.

Fast, clean, and just 182 pages — a reliable jolt of suspense, but not one that sticks.

Sorry, the plot gets tedious. The books are pretty much he same and I'm done. Curious about the ending of the series but not curious enough to keep on listening.

Still enjoying following along as Maya makes her way through these cases.

I do agree with one of the other reviews that said these books are falling into a predictable pattern, and that's one of the main reasons I went down to four stars.

I did like the motivation of the killer in this one, and the murder side of things. Hopefully soon she'll have some real leads to work with

Maya keeps working under a lot of pressure in order to avoid that other bunny - which can be her sister - getting murdered and sometimes, things seem to be getting out of control and she feels like she will not be able to do it. I believe this story has the most challenging mission for Maya so far and new information has been accessed by the FBI. The ending is unexpected and I'm looking forward to reading the next story in the series!
I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my unbiased opinion.

Just when you think you know where the book is going, Molly and the moonlight killer throw you a curve ball. He picks the cases because people attribute them to him but I also think he picks them because the obvious answer is never the right one. So many law enforcement took the easy way out and he’s making sure Maya fixes that. I’m beyond curious to know how he began killing and what lead him to maya.

Quick Review

I absolutely love this Maya Gray series!

What I love:

❤️This is a quick and fast paced read.
❤️The different crimes/cases (plots) to solve in between the books while the underlying main plot is to solve the kidnapped and/or murdered women.
❤️The fluidity in between books are easy to follow so I do not feel obligated having to read them one after the other. I could read other books in between and go back to the series easily.
❤️Likeable characters specifically Maya and Marco; their great dynamic in exploring and solving cases and their "budding" love story.
❤️Even with only 200-ish pages, there is no lacking of twists and turns which makes the book even more compelling to read.

⭐I like that the culprit here is different from the last one and is well developed for this book.

👍I highly recommend👍not just the book but the whole series especially if you love quick reads, police procedural type and filled with twists and turns.

Maya is still hard at work solving cold cases in exchange for the release of a 'bunny'. As usual, she gets a postcard with a new case to solve along with a timeline, a week this time. She and her newly appointed task force get to work, and now hunky Marco has officially joined the team. Maya is searching for a killer that strings up his victims like Marionette dolls and it's up to her to track him down or an innocent woman will die.

Another great part to the series

This has easily become one of my all time favorite series! I'm absolutely devastate to have to wait for the next few books after book 7. The storyline flows so well! I'm going to buy all the hard copies to add to my library even though I've read through kindle. 😅

Maya is still on the hunt for her sister’s kidnapper. He’s still tormenting Maya with postcards of his bunnies. One of his hired ‘helpers’ had to be eliminated. Things heat up between Maya and her police detective partner and once again he saves Maya from death. One false arrest but things proceeding and another bunny was released.

With this book, I think I am totally done with this series and Agent Gray. Molly Black has been way too repetitive for me even though the cases and areas were different in each book. But every book has same sentences about Maya,Marco and the kidnapper and serial killer named Frank. Took me way too long to complete because of that repetition made it too boring to read.

It’s a good thing Molly took a break after this one. Two shorter books with repetitive paragraphs. Let’s hope Girl Seven returns to form otherwise we’ll all be waiting for the last to see how it ends.

Enjoyable read

Another interesting book in the series. Unfortunately we know at the beginning of the series of books, how the next will be played out. Admittedly I want to see how it all ends for Maya,!!?

Audiobook
probably the creepiest case of all the ones so far.
Best kidnapper and other character development too!
You truly forget about the kidnappers bunnies in the second half, I was on the edge of my seat.
Would recommend and read again.

Six Down Six Up

Maya doesn't disappoint nor does Frank in his twisted compulsion to show how great he is. An excellent read, one that kept me riveted to the pages. And I hope the relationship between Marco and Maya will be a benefit for them all. Great story, very easy read.

Stories are getting a little better with the kick back of these cold cases. I like how the killers are fighter back to show us the Maya just isn't invincible.
The private eye being hired I didn't see coming snd I kind of wished got away to add an edge to the series

More of the same formula
Still like the quick reads, but seems like eatery book is more of a small chapter so we can get to 12 kidnapped girls. Kind of a brilliant move by the author/publisher

Her personal life doesn’t move much, but the cases move along.
I’ll keep going as filler books!

It was okay, I'm going to finish the series, but the books are getting very repetitive, they are good and if I had bigger gaps in-between books, I probably would like them better lol. But again, this one was good.
