I don’t know whether to cry, smile, or do both. I can’t wait for the 6th volume to come out!

This slice of life manga has a nice and easy pace that I've enjoyed. I now look forward for every new release because it's both relaxing and entertaining.
Volume 5 has our two leads going on that planned club trip to photograph the night sky, and with the planning, and requesting permission, the story has begun peel the layers of our characters, and peek into what could have caused their insomnia.
The volume ends on a cliffhanger after the female lead took the initiative to change the nature of her relationship with the male lead. Don't get me wrong, but they have what can only be described as a "pure romance". I can't wait to see what happens next in the sixth volume.

“Truly amazing photographs are taken when you find something that moves you from within all of that. When the thrill of the moment presses the shutter for you".
Creo que es en este tomo cuando ya se empieza a ver una mayor profundidad en los personajes desde un punto de vista interno. Al mismo tiempo siento que es un tomo que destaca más por el dibujo, que no me cansaré de decirlo, es precioso, y los lugares que quieren fotografiar. Eso sí el final de este tomo es muy tierno y se puede ver que puede haber drama futuro, pero no creo que sea tan exagerado como otros mangas.

The summer heat brings a club trip to get some pictures in the countryside, chaperoned by Isaki’s sister. But, as the days roll on, Isaki and Nakami find themselves on their own and more vulnerable than ever before.
This is not slice of life, it’s the whole damn pie.
I absolutely adore this series and how loudly quiet it is. The moments in this series, when they happen, are like nothing else I’ve enjoyed in manga and they have this feel of young love to them that trumps anything in a supposedly more straightforward shojo.
Isaki staring at Nakami’s back, soaked with sweat, is just a couple of panels, but you can see how it means more to her than just what she’s seeing. The photo that Nakami takes with the cherry blossoms, too. It’s all gorgeous.
And then it doesn’t forget to be well written on top of that. Haya, Isaki’s sister, is a pretty great big sister, but that doesn’t mean she’s necessarily come by that position deliberately. There’s definitely some resentment from her over being the “healthy one” who nobody cares about.
But she sees straight through both of these two and their burgeoning relationship, even if Nakami is quick to blow off that confession from earlier (see if you blow off the ending to this volume, Nakami!) as just a friend being a friend.
This story is such an amazing piece of work from a very basic concept. Sure, it might be obvious writing to have both of them have insomnia, but for two very different and opposite reasons, but making it work takes skill. Nakami’s big moment of honesty here is heartfelt as heck.
And when Haya zips off to see her boyfriend, the whole thing turns shockingly domestic and you see our leads being themselves and simply hanging out like, well, a married couple and it’s just quiet moment after quiet moment of two people who are intently comfortable together.
I guess if you want high drama and action this isn’t your book. It is absolutely the sort of thing I could eat three times a day and it has so much going on underneath that what looks simple and understated is anything but.
5 stars - amazing in every facet and a true gem. Far and away the best ongoing romance I have right now.

After all the little bumps these two friends have had to endure, all the while growing closer and more comfortable they finally catch a few breaks, which are extremely satisfyingly and if you've been waiting for that moment of raw emotional openness, this book will not disappoint.
One of the things that I love about this book is that although it's about highschool students, and so they are emotionally very inexperienced, even inept, in expressing their emotions, the story is not driven by hormone-fueled decisions. Instead we have two young people realizing that the 'need' each other and that makes the book feel very relaxed, sweet, a complex combination of innocent and mature.
Ojiro also does a nice thing in how she builds characters. Not every frame or conversation is a direct confession. A lot of what we learn about characters is shown or hinted or revealed indirectly, or through side conversations. Friends, Parents, Sisters, Teachers, all have subtle inlets and tells that make for a fun and satisfying read.

Atmospheric. That's the word I've been looking for that I haven't quite found yet for this series. For as quiet and gentle as the story is, the art is atmospheric and ethereal. Everyone should read this for the break it gives you from the noise around us.

This newest installment of the series was so sweet! I loved seeing just Nakami and Isaki together, even if Isaki's very annoying sister Haya tagged along. This was very sweet and was such a quick read, I was surprised when I got to the end! And that ending!! :3 Excited to read the next one!

Not a complaint, but they've kind of moved past the whole 'Insomniacs' part of the title at this point.
Should just be called 'After School' maybe.

La verdad, este tomo me encantó. Tipo, a nivel disfrute personal, fue un 10/10. Me gustaría hacer una reseña súper objetiva y separar mis gustos personales de la opinión general, pero sinceramente ya no puedo. Esta saga me gusta tanto que me pone feliz cada vez que la leo. Literalmente.
Sí es verdad que a veces me cuesta engancharme en los primeros dos o tres capítulos, pero después entro en una y no puedo parar. Quiero seguir leyendo, seguir leyendo y seguir leyendo. Si pudiera, me compraría los 14 tomos de una sola vez. Y probablemente me los terminaría en una tarde. El problema claramente es mi bolsillo.
Ahora, tratando de ser un poco más objetiva, sí siento que este tomo quedó medio flojo en cuanto a historia. Me sigue encantando toda la parte de fotografía y la dinámica entre los personajes, pero honestamente siento que no avanzó casi nada. Es como el típico capítulo de serie donde no pasa nada realmente importante para la trama principal.
Sí, está todo el tema de que se van a la islita para sacar las fotos del concurso, pero fuera de eso y del beso del final, no siento que haya pasado demasiado. La introducción se me hizo larguísima y como que nunca terminaba de arrancar. Tampoco se terminó de definir el tema de la foto y encima presentaron a la hermana de izaki para que aparezca literalmente dos segundos y desaparezca. A menos que más adelante tenga importancia, me pareció un personaje bastante innecesario.
En resumen: me divertí muchísimo leyéndolo porque esta saga ya me tiene completamente comprada, pero si tengo que hablar puramente de la historia, siento que quedó medio corta y medio vacía. Lo único que realmente rescato es el beso del final. El resto… bastante meh.
Por último, como siempre, las visuales y los dibujos del libro están buenísimos. Creo que fue de las cosas que más destaqué durante toda la lectura, porque posta están muy bien logrados y siguen teniendo esa estética que hace tan linda a la saga. Pero bueno, nada…
