They had both declared themselves done with romance and love. God, however, had other plans.
Her: “My marriage, career, and reputation just crashed around me and eliminated the little trust I had left in myself to make good decisions. I packed my bags, shook the dust off my feet, and started driving, begging God to tell me where to go. He brought me to a tiny, charming Northern Michigan town, where I’m recreating my life from scratch – without men.”
Him: “My whole world turned upside down when I lost the love of my life and had to start over as a single father. I am now both mother and father to my little girl and have built my life around taking care of her; and protecting my heart from ever being hurt like that again. Love is not a part of my life anymore.”
God: “We’ll see about that.”
Can two people who have sworn off love stop fighting their attraction long enough to see that God is doing something? Can they trust Him enough to risk giving happiness another try?
Katherine Karrol is both a fan and an author of sweet, clean Christian romance stories about imperfect people with imperfect lives. Because she does not possess the ability or desire to put a good book down and generally reads them in one sitting, she writes books that can be read in the same way.
Her books are meant to entertain and even possibly inspire the reader to take chances, trust God, and laugh at life as much as possible. The people she interacts with in her professional life have absolutely no idea that she writes these books, so by reading this, you agree to keep her secret.
If you would like to contact her to share your favorite character or share who you were picturing as you were reading, you can email her at KatherineKarrol@gmail.com or get social with her on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Bookbub, and Goodreads. Click here to join her mailing list!
Emily and Joe have both suffered losses in their lives and are hesitant to persue love again. As they spend time together repairing an old bed and breakfast, they begin to see the possibility. A clean romance.
The story was cute and quick, easy to read. This would be perfect for a teen or young adult without a lot of time. I wish the characters were fleshed out a little more and the whole story was longer - which is a good thing... I wanted more! I'd read this author again.
Second Chance in Summit County (Summit County Series Book 1), my first read from author Katherine Karrol. If you enjoy Lorana Hoopes, Robin Merrill, or Naomi Rawlings you'll love this book and I was ecstatic to discover that it's the first book in a series. Stand-alone books are fine but series books with recurring characters. I've read almost 500 books so far this year and this book is among the best of them. A must-read! No spoilers from me, read this book. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author as I get them. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I loved this book. The storyline and characters. Can’t wait to read more and see their story continue! The author does a great job of descriptions and drawing you in to care about the characters.
My first book by Katherine Karrol. I was excited to read another contemporary romance set in northern Michigan!
This sweet, slow-burn romance starts right off where many stories don't: with an already repentant and seeking heart. Emily's already aware of her mistakes and already asking God for help. She just doesn't know where or when it'll come or what it'll look like. Meanwhile, Joe's not really looking for anything. He sort of falls into it, but he's not sure what to do when he gets there.
Lots of heart. Super sweet. A sincere focus on God and his guidance. If you're looking for an sweet Christian romance with as much emphasis on God's love as there is on the romantic love, I recommend this book!
What I loved most about this book was the constant conversations that were going on between the characters and God. I really believe this is the highest form of prayer, when you include God in all those moments of your life, consulting Him as you go through your day. So, I really appreciated being able to hear those prayers.
I was also impressed with how this story could have been taken out of today's headlines, but it was presented differently than what we usually would hear. It showed us the point of view from the victim you don't usually hear about, which gave a fresh and honest vibe to the story.
Both of the main characters in this story were holding on to burdens and guilt that they didn't earn. I love it when God comes into the picture and things start to change.
I loved how beautiful and descriptive this book is, both of the locality in which it is set and of the people and challenges they are facing and then how and what they did to change their situation. I am a simple person who wants at the end of the day to have more feel good energy and happy ever afters, than mental disquiet. This is why I read what I read, to feel good and hopefully not feel pain. I then in turn am more approachable, willing to see others with a look of love and compassion and how can I help you get what you want. And you though you were just reading a book
Emily, publicly humiliated by her ex-husband, and Joe, single widowed father, are drawn together by a divine hand in picturesque Summit County.
This was a story that had me hooked from the beginning. The author did a great job with making her characters realistic, and allowing the readers to hear their innermost thoughts a prayers. A sweet, Christian romance that can be read in an afternoon and leaves you wanting to get to know more about the other characters of Summit County.
Emily left California after finding out her husband for five years had been charged with sexual assault and working place harassment. They worked together on a home improvement show and Emily was unaware what was going on. Read to see if she can start over where no one recognizes her.
This is a story about second chances. When one door closes another opens. The story ended too soon. I would love to see another book continuing their story.
Love this story!! This is a sweet, clean romance. This is all about second chances and the storyline moves smoothly. The characters are realistic and have their share of weaknesses and problems. The characters grow in faith and trust. It's just an all around good, fun quick read!
A lovely story of second chance love and starting over! I love the focus on keeping the Lord front and center of their lives and the slow build of relationship. Highly recommended!
There is second chances after tragedy and betrayal and Joe and Emily's stories entwine to make a great and enjoyable read.. Thanks much Have a blessed day and enjoy😇
This is a sweet Christian romance. A very believable story. It kept my attention all the way through. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good love story.
New-to-me author, but will read more. Great story, fun cast of characters, good spiritual points, and sweet small town. Looking forward to more from this series.
I loved everything Katherine wrote about healing and finding happiness in these book. Emily was so hurt and broken when her husband treated her so badly in LA she left. She went back to Michigan, where she ran in Joe, who had lost his wife during child bearing. They worked restoring a b n b and found love. It was a wonderful book that made you feel like you were right there. Know that others will be just as good.
free ebook her x husband got in trouble for sexual harassment, they were getting a divorce. she moved from la and drove around till she found a small town to stop in. the b&b owner let her stay in exchange for helping out
his wife died in childbirth. both sets of grandparents help out with the daughter. he was helping the b&b lady with repairs at her house

The book is well written and is a very good live story and about healing. It just need some kind of action in it, like the life before she arrived to town that brought her to that point.
This book was slow in the beginning, once the couple to be met though, the pace picked up. I particularly liked the fact that the author did not feel she had to have explicit scenes. She kept the book safe for the morally conscious readers. Thank you !
