More than a month has passed since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022; the war rages on. Turns out it is incredibly difficult to conquer another country, even in modern warfare. If China were to attack Taiwan, the difficulty would be tenfold. Taiwan is an island, much like Britain, which neither Napoleon nor Hitler was able to conquer. Therefore, it follows that China would only wage war as a last resort.
This leads to one logical conclusion: the real war does not happen on sea or land, but in the "cloud". Cyber warfare is the name of the game here, and it has already begun.
It is a great book about the Taiwan Strait. It clears the misunderstanding around the military of the two sides. It is a good read after seeing the war in Ukraine. The info and argument in this book must be easier to understand when the Ukrainian defenders showed the possibility.
