Dive into the heart-pounding world of "Blood Sapphire's Revenge," where the stakes are high, the tension is palpable, and every page brims with adrenaline-fueled action. Author, Dr. Bruce Farmer delivers a tour de force military thriller that rivals the best of Jason Bourne and Jack Reacher.

Meanwhile, halfway across the world, New York City detective Wolf James is thrust into a covert operation in Ukraine, his dreams haunted by the enigmatic dark-eyed woman he once glimpsed atop Mount Rainier. As Wolf grapples with his own demons, he finds himself face-to-face with the woman of his dreams, joining forces with her without hesitation.
Against a backdrop of global intrigue and impending doom, Haddy and Wolf embark on a perilous journey to save the world from Armageddon. Dr. Farmer weaves a complex web of secrets, twists, and heart-stopping moments, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the final page. "Blood Sapphire's Revenge" is a character-driven masterpiece that explores the depths of human resilience and the power of redemption, leaving readers breathless and begging for more.
With a life as diverse and thrilling as an epic adventure novel, Bruce Farmer has traversed the globe and delved into myriad careers. From the rugged peaks of the Cascades to the bustling streets of Portland, Oregon, his journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.
An intrepid outdoorsman, Bruce finds solace and inspiration in the wild, scaling mountains and carving through snowy slopes. His passion for nature seeps into the pages of his novel, "Blood Sapphire’s Revenge," infusing his characters with the essence of the great outdoors.
From the adrenaline rush of emergency room medicine to the contemplative halls of academia, Bruce's career path has been as dynamic as the characters he creates. Whether healing bodies or enlightening minds, his experiences have shaped his storytelling, breathing life into the vibrant world of his novels.
A dedicated family man, Bruce cherishes his role as a father and grandfather, finding joy in the laughter and love of his three children and five grandchildren. Nestled just beyond the city limits of Portland, he continues to spin tales of adventure and intrigue, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the lives of Haddy and Wolf.
Asked to read this novel by Dr. Bruce Farmer, I gladly accepted the challenge. It is peppered with military maneuvers and has a decent thriller aspect to it, accentuated by a strong female protagonist. Told from a number of perspectives, Farmer lays out his point early and repeatedly. While a decent read, it did not grip me as much as I might have liked.
Haddy Abrams, has a fearless side that is only tempered by the demons that lurk inside her. A military sniper, Haddy is handed a mission that will test her mettle and put a target on her back by a ruthless killer half a world away. Known only as “X”, this killer sets his sights on Haddy, in hopes of exacting a retribution he feels is necessary for the murder of a contact in the Muslim world.
All the while in New York City, Detective Wolf James is pushed into a case he could not have expected. With ties to Ukraine, Detective James finds himself grappling with his own demons and a childhood he thought he could shelve. Haunted by his past and yet pushed to make a difference, Detective James finds himself on a mission to solve a case that many would think too difficult to crack.
In a story that spans the globe and uses a heightened sense of struggle, Haddy and Detective James will conquer their fears and face an enemy they could not have known existed, forced to move well out of their comfort zones. The story meanders and leaves the reader curious about how it will all come together, though things are definitely not as intense as they might be. Dr Bruce Farmer does well, though the spark that could have made this book explosive is surely missing.
I have high hopes of books offered to me for review, particularly because others have already deemed it well worth my time before it even crosses my radar. When I received this book, the dust jacket blurb lured me in and left me wanting to know more. Dr. Bruce Farmer does well to weave his story, using a fast-paced story and a decent narrative from the outset. While there are some great scenes and each seems to run parallel to offer a number of plot lines, I could not find myself properly connecting to the overall story or really find myself linking to anything. The characters are developed well and seem to have a backstory that may would enjoy, though I could not find myself really hungering to learn more. This could be my own fault, though as a reviewer, I am not to share my sentiments, rather than parrot what others have aid to fall in line.
Plot points seemed to work well for many, though I was less than enamoured with the various twists. Farmer does his best to tell the story and keeps the reader in the middle of things, though I remained on the outside, peering in and wondering if I might be missing something. While I thank Dr. Farmer for the reading experience, I will likely be in the minority and not laud it as stunning.
This seems like the perfect kind of book to share on International Women's Day, because it features a strong independent woman who is unlikeable and doesn't give a d**n. She is not fitting into your stupid boxes, and that is okay!
This book was very well written, and the characters were very well developed. Overall it was thrilling, edge-of-your seat action that kept the book moving, and the world the characters lived in didn't feature a dull moment. But it wasn't really my cup of tea. If I'd been a little more careful reading the blurb, I'd have realized that, but apparently I overlooked the military part of "military thriller." I know how ever that there are tons of people who LOVE this. My own dad, if he were a reader, would read this in a day. If the author can get a movie deal, my dad would watch this for a week straight.
I have found a love for domestic and crime thrillers in the past year, but I'm really not into war and high action/fighting books. And this book helped confirm that for me. But if you are into those, this is a really great one. It is full of action, strong female leads, and nihilistic flavor. I have a hard time with that because of my own nihilistic tendencies and this hit on some triggers I'm not comfortable dwelling in. I can handle them in passing, but really digging in is rough for me.
Those who love military and action thrillers will love this book. If you love Jack Reacher or Jason Bourne, this is your kind of book. But this has some serious triggers, and they hit you right off the bat. Both of the main characters deal with some serious issues, so check your triggers and make sure you're in the right headspace to proceed.

This is an exciting action packed military thriller to rival the likes of Jack Reacher or Jason Bourne but with a brilliantly strong female lead.
Following Haddy after her last mission, where she took out a notorious islamic extremist, she now has a target on her head. After escaping one attempt on her life, she's determined to settle the score once and for all.
This was a full on rollercoaster ride right from the off. With a gripping introduction I couldn't help but be hooked in and raced through this.
I loved that this was written in a diary style, following Haddy on her journey across the world, which kept us grounded and with a clear view of our timeline. Being set over only 27 days and travelling through 4 different countries, you really get that sense that speed is of the essence and I was swept along on the edge of my seat! The last day broken down into hours built up that tension and I'm not even sure I was breathing for the last few chapters!
There was a large cast of secondary characters and it took a bit of concentration to keep up - but given the widespread setting, this was definitely necessary. I loved the authenticity of each and every one of this cast but especially connected with Haddy and Wolf, who although flawed themselves, had me rooting for them all the way!!
A fast-paced, full-on adventure which will keep you turning the pages. I'd be interested to see what comes next from this author as the writing was amazing!
*I also read this as an audio book and although my review for the novel still stands - I have to say that it was rather difficult to listen to the audio copy. I usually love a book read by it's author, as they know exactly how they wrote it, what's happening, when and what the characters are thinking/feeling etc - so was really looking forward to this.
However, I found the narration extremely slow and disjointed throughout. I normally put the speed up to 1.5 to read at my normal reading speed ....but this, I had to ramp right up to X2 and although slightly better, I still found the disjointedness really made it hard to get immersed in.
Luckily, I'd already recently read the print copy and was able to remember how I'd connected with certain bits of the story.
Still a 4* read for me....but the narration really wasn't for me this time I'm afraid - sorry
"Blood Safire's Revenge" by Bruce Farmer, is a story of intense emotion and unrelenting Military suspense. The lead character Haddy Abram’s is a fantastic female character that you will be cheering for the entire book. I enjoyed the fast pace, action packed story that continued right to the end. I loved the dynamic between Hatty and Wolf and rooted for them as they tried to save the world. If you like action packed books with a storyline of assassins, war, armageddon and a strong female character you will enjoy this 400 page read. I liked that I felt connected to the characters, stayed focused and interested through the entire book and felt satisfied as I read the ending. I would definitely recommend this book if this is the genre you enjoy.
A debut novel by Bruce Farmer; and what a debut it was. The layout of this book was great. Crisp prose and dialogue, short chapters and fast paced storyline has a lot a thriller fans will enjoy. Told in several points of view, the main two being Haddy Abrams, Israeli special ops sniper and NYPD detective Wolf James. These two have a past that is not immediately apparent. But as the story progresses they are drawn into each others orbit. This story is told in a very cinematic way, with fast paced action encompassing several worldwide locations and the short chapters keep the reader engaged. If you are a thriller fan I recommend this book to you.
I wasn't expecting this book to be as good as it was! I found myself not wanting to put it down. It was really nice to see a strong woman protagonist. I would also like to point out that I enjoyed the plot and the way it was written. Definitely worth a read!
This is a globe-trotting action packed whirlwind. I have to admit the first few chapters didn't initially grab me since I don't normally read military themed fiction. After that I was hooked. The characters are masterfully interwoven and the story will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Haddy is a super soldier that gets targeted by a criminal syndicate after her latest mission. I felt like the book was dragging in the early chapters with endless military descriptions that went over my head, out of the blue character flashbacks and unnecessary philosophical quotes. But then the action really takes off and I couldn’t put it down. The ending was a little rushed for me but overall it was a very enjoyable book.
"Blood Sapphire's Revenge" by Bruce Farmer is a military page turner with some romance involved. Staff Sargeant Haddy Abrams and New York police detective Wolf James are each on a mission to revenge family deaths and get involved with trying to stop a bombing of a country. Intrigue, mystery, fighting, and romance. This book has it all.
By Dr Bruce Farmer 3.5 rounded to 4/5 stars This was a military suspense novel. It was completely action packed. The author, Dr. Bruce Farmer knows exactly how to write about a total kick butt, fearless, strong, FMC Haddy Abrams. She had a lot going on within her own self, and with the many obstacles of being a special ops agent. Haddy was my favorite character. There were multiple characters, settings, and point of view in this book. Fast paced, action, packed, highly detail oriented. If you were a military fan, suspense, or thriller fan, you'll definitely want to check this one out.
Here’s my review for Blood Sapphire’s Revenge by Dr Bruce Farmer
I found the start of this book very hard to read but once over that and it settled down a bit more, it was a bit more of a story that was easier to read. It was character driven and moved location a lot but very action packed. One moment you could be in Yemen, then in New York, then in Russia for example. Haddy was one of the main characters and she killed a Islamic extremist in Yemen, a price was put on her head by an Oligach called ‘X’. Haddy dreams of a man but she doesn’t know who he is but then she gets to go on a training course and the man is on it. He has been dreaming of her too! What will happen? The author spent a lot of time researching for this book and that does show in the writing of the story. There is a lot going on in this book and it can be very intense at times but it’s based around military thrillers but this is very tense and nothing like a Jack Reacher book.
Blurb :
Character driven. Action-packed. Boiling over with tension and angst.
Blood Sapphire's Revenge is military thriller inspired by the genre that brought us Jason Bourne and Jack Reacher. In a globe-spanning tale of adventure, this gripping story full of twists and turns, and secrets from the grave that may just trigger the end of the world, will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.
Dr. Bruce Farmer has created an arresting story that follows Haddy Abrams, a dauntless female warrior full of determination and boldness as she resolutely battles both personal demons and a heinous villain out to destroy the world. And yet, secretly, in her dreams, there is a man. A mysterious man she only met eyes with so many years ago – and who seems more a ghost than anything else, now.
After shooting a notorious Islamic extremist in the Hadhramaut Mountains of Yemen with a record-setting sniper shot, Israel Defense Force Staff Sergeant Abrams finds herself in the crosshairs of a diabolical Eastern European oligarch known only as “X”. Haddy narrowly survives a targeted assassination attempt, but this only fuels her determination. Still traumatized by the attempt on her life, Haddy sets off to settle the score, even as she is plagued by inner demons set on destroying her before she gets there.
Across the globe, the dreams of New York City police detective Wolf James are haunted by visions of a mysterious, dark-eyed woman he once encountered while summiting Mount Rainier in Washington state. Assigned to a covert training operation in the Ukraine and on the eve of his wedding day, Detective James suddenly finds himself face-to-face with the mysterious female warrior, who has captivated his dreams for months. He soon finds himself working with her – with no hesitation.
Painstakingly researched, Dr. Farmer has created a novel full of intrigue, mystery, and moments of nail-biting complexity. The plot revolves around the strong, determined characters of Haddy and Wolf, a man and a woman who resolve to fight to save the world from Armageddon – all the while hoping to find a moment, just a moment, for themselves.
" [...] A Purple Heart just proves that you were smart enough to think of a plan, stupid enough to try it, and lucky enough to survive. [...]"
The book "Blood sapphire's revenge" is the literary debut of Dr. Bruce Farmer's. To be honest, it's hard to believe. This is a very good story. The end of the book is suspenseful, and the ending gave me hope that the author has not yet written the last word here. And one day he will return to finish this story. At first, this novel was a bit boring for me, but as I read on it got better and better, and the ending was literally a masterpiece. The topic of suicide and suicidal thoughts is discussed here. If you have these thoughts, don't be afraid to ask for help. I am glad that the author drew attention to this huge problem.
One of the main characters is Staff Sergeant Haddy Abrams. She is a very brave woman, yet she struggles with huge mental problems. She can't cope with them. Will someone help her with this? Or will she end her life? Will the demons get her? This character is like Wonder Woman. She is also an Israeli special operation's sniper. She is not afraid to shoot Islamic extremists. Thanks to this, she put her life in great danger. I admired Haddy for her smarts, courage, strength and tolerance for pain. You absolutely must meet her.
Another important character is New York Police Detective James Wolf. It is worth knowing its history. He also fights very dangerous people. Will he be able to save the world from the real Armageddon? Will he find his family's murderers?
It is worth mentioning one positive heroine. Her name is Brianna. She's like Mata Hari to me.
Ivan Juric is a beast in human skin. I advise you to stay away from him.
The action of this book takes place in various countries and cities, including: Yemen, Beirut, Israel, Odessa, Moscow and Southampton. Towards the end of the book, the action picks up pace and is so suspenseful that you can't breathe. I was rooting for the main characters.
An interestingly crafted plot. I know this is pure literary fiction, but couldn't similar events happen in the modern world? I kept my fingers crossed for the main characters so that they wouldn't let Armageddon happen.
Are you ready to stop time before the rockets take off?
Congratulations to the author of this debut. I'm glad that after a poor start, I didn't put this book on the shelf, but gave it a second chance. Now, I would love to see this story on the big screen. It's worth giving debutants a chance. Thanks to this, you can discover wonderful gems.
If you like military and psychological thrillers, go ahead and read "Blood Sapphire's Revenge". You won't be disappointed. Also, noteworthy is the great cover, which shows one of the main characters. Do you already know who I'm talking about?
Get ready for an amazing experience, because when Abrams and Wolf enter the action, the earth literally shakes and blood spurts.

Blood Sapphire's Revenge, by Dr. Bruce Farmer, is a multifaceted thriller that takes readers on a gripping journey across various global landscapes, expertly weaving multiple storylines filled with complex characters. Set against a backdrop of military operations, international crime, and deep personal struggles, this novel showcases Farmer's talent in creating a vivid and interconnected narrative. In Yemen, we're introduced to Staff Sergeant Haddy Abrams and Sergeant Shira Alian on a high-stakes mission against Al Qaeda leader Anisur Salam. Farmer's detailed depiction of their harrowing journey through Yemen's rugged terrain and their fight for survival is both captivating and intense.
The narrative then shifts to Ukraine with the character "X," an oligarch involved in illicit activities. X's haunted past and his ties with Salam add a dark layer of complexity to the plot. This subplot provides an insightful glimpse into the world of international crime and the psychological depth of its players. Parallel to the action-packed sequences, the book explores Haddy’s internal battles. Her character development, marked by personal demons and a nuanced relationship with Shira, adds a significant emotional dimension to the story. Adding to the novel's diversity, the storyline of Detective Liam “Wolf” James in New York introduces crime and police procedural elements. His dedication and personal vendetta against a drug lord contribute to the novel's rich tapestry of interconnected plots.
Farmer's skill in blending military action, psychological drama, and intricate global intrigue is noteworthy. Each subplot, while distinct, seamlessly contributes to the overarching narrative, making Blood Sapphire's Revenge an engaging read for fans of complex thrillers that span continents and delve into the depths of both external conflicts and internal struggles.
At first blush, Dr. Bruce Farmer's breakout novel is just a taut, globe-spanning thriller with some unapologetically raw, often brutally-violent, blistering action. You know, your typical “good guys vs. bad guys” narrative that's been worked to death by the big names of the genre.
It's only on a closer read that one begins to appreciate the deeper thematic explorations at play. Whether it's fate vs. faith in modern society or the toll of physical, mental emotional trauma, Farmer draws upon broad life experience to pose questions and traverse novel territory in the often overdone and trite globe-trotting military thriller genre.
While the majority of the internal existential conflict lives and breathes within the tortured protagonist—Krav Maga expert and certifiable Israeli Defense Sniper badass Staff Sergeant Haddy "Haddasah" Abrams, her fellow characters are no less traumatized or intriguing. Each might even withstand a deeper dive on their own.
From the conflicted Russian escort Brianna Ivanova to the quirky nuclear genius Professor LeCompte, Farmer does an excellent job of pitting each of his characters against their own demons, both external and internal. In crafting characters that must do battle within themselves while struggling against questions of larger meaning and purpose, Farmer’s breakout offering makes a lasting impression.
While one could argue that some of the evil characters are a bit overwrought, you can see that in developing a more malevolent evil, Farmer makes the ultimate triumph of his female protagonist all the more powerful. A unique read that will carry any fan of the genre into new territory.
This is a heart-pounding journey through the world of revenge, intrigue, and global conflict. From the first page to the very end, readers are thrust into a whirlwind of danger and suspense that refuses to let go. Farmer's narrative mastery shines through in the intricately woven plot that spans multiple countries, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with every twist and turn. The action sequences are relentless, filled with raw intensity and pulse-pounding suspense that will leave readers breathless.
What sets "Blood Sapphire's Revenge" apart is its rich cast of characters, each meticulously crafted with depth and complexity. From the dauntless Abrams to the intriguingly complex Brianna, Farmer brings his characters to life with authenticity and nuance, exploring themes of faith, trauma, and resilience in the midst of chaos.
The chemistry between Abrams and New York City police detective Wolf James adds another layer of depth to the story, creating a dynamic duo that resonates with readers long after the final page is turned. Farmer's attention to detail and authentic portrayal of military and police procedures further enhance the novel's realism, immersing readers in a world where the stakes couldn't be higher.
"Blood Sapphire's Revenge" is more than just a military thriller—it's a gripping tale of courage, redemption, and the unyielding spirit of those who refuse to back down in the face of adversity. For fans of Jason Bourne and Jack Reacher, this is a must-read that delivers on every level. Highly recommended for anyone craving an adrenaline-fueled adventure that will keep them hooked until the very end.

I did enjoy listening to this audiobook. I loved that the author narrated it. I loved how crisp and clear his voice was. I could see what was happening in my head like a movie. I did like the cover. Full of action. Which I loved. This was very well researched as he knew the different guns missiles etc. I loved Haddy she was my favourite character. I did like it when Haddy and Wolf met. Very bloody and gory. Which I love. I did love the ending. 5*.
Blood Sapphire’s Revenge by Dr. Bruce Farmer delivers a fierce female lead, military intrigue, globe-trotting protagonists, and a fast-paced adventure. Haddy Abrams, a powerful protagonist and military sniper, is fending off direct attacks on her life after successfully neutralizing a target. It's refreshing to see a woman in this genre who doesn't need rescuing and whose role isn't limited to being a love interest.
Detective Wolf James, the male lead, finds himself entangled in an unpredictable case. Both protagonists grapple with their own demons as they navigate life-threatening challenges. In a genre reminiscent of Jack Reacher or Tom Clancy, female characters often fall into the roles of romantic interests or damsels in distress. Farmer breaks this mold with Haddy, who is powerful and self-assured, facing her inner turmoil without undervaluing her worth. The narrative is fast-paced, spanning approximately 27 days and covering extensive ground both figuratively and literally. While the short, engaging chapters keep the story moving, the multiple perspectives can sometimes be challenging to follow. This technique maintains reader engagement but requires attention to keep track of whose viewpoint is being presented and its connection to the overall plot.
Readers who enjoy military settings, strong female leads, and action-packed stories will find Blood Sapphire’s Revenge a compelling read. Despite its twists and occasional complexity, Farmer's debut novel makes a strong impression. Readers will be eager to see whether he continues with these characters in future works or delves into new stories. This book is a valuable addition to any action lover’s collection.
Blood Sapphire’s Revenge by Dr. Bruce Farmer follows Israeli Defense Staff Sergeant Haddy Abrams, a special ops sniper and martial arts expert, as she overcomes her own feelings of dark despair, hopelessness and traumatised past to take down a sadistic power-hungry oligarch, codenamed X who is intent on annihilating Israel and ultimately taking over the world whilst also putting Haddy on a hit list in revenge for someone she killed on her most recent mission.
This is an action story that grabs you from the first page to the very end. It is brilliantly written, well-researched and takes you to the edge of your seat. The author has created a complex cast of characters, all unique, compelling and mesmerising. The action-packed plot occurs over four countries simultaneously and concludes in a final 24-hour nail biting ending.
Blood Sapphire's Revenge is an absolute rollercoaster of a read! This book is like diving into a blockbuster movie, with a plot that's as fast-paced as it is gripping. The characters, Haddy and Wolf are the kind of heroes you root for, flawed and real, navigating personal struggles while trying to save the world. The author's attention to detail and the depth of his research can be seen at first glance, making this thriller both thrilling and thought-provoking. If you're into edge-of-your-seat adventures, this is a must-read! The ending was satisfying and it was good to see a strong female lead.
The cover is incredibly striking, and that combined with the blurb made me want to read this.
It is clear that a great deal of time and research has gone into creating this book, as the story is rich in detailed place descriptions and even military operations.
It sometimes felt like you were easily watching a movie in your head!
I loved Haddy, and it was great to see a strong and resilient woman as one of the main characters. X is a cunning piece of work, and I just loved Liam!
While this book was not for me personally, I can see why the reviews rave about it as it is a fantastic book, but I personally just struggled.
Would I ever watch this book if it became a series adaptation? Absolutely! Given the details and the different viewpoints and locations, it would be a fantastic visual story, and I would love to watch it.
I have rated the book on its quality, attention to detail, and chatters and how I feel someone who enjoys this format would perceive it (I'm thinking of my husband as I write this)...
Blood Sapphire’s Revenge by Dr Bruce Farmer starts as it means to go on a hard hitting, no nonsense and straight talking. The book has a strong female lead, Haddy who pulls no punches and shoots directly at her target literally. This book is a fast paced, suspense thriller. Haddy the main protagonist is flawed but is also a fearless female, wonder woman this creates a character teeming with tension and angst. Dr Bruce Farmers attention to detail from meticulous research helps with the authenticity of the book enhancing this globe spanning tale. The plot is filled with twists and secrets that kept me on the edge of my seat as the book unfolded one chapter at a time. The book came together like cymbals crashing loudly in an orchestra, like a thunderous crescendo near the end and it is all worth wating for. In conclusion this book is a hard hitting, fast paced action-packed thriller. Haddy is a memorable strong female you will love and Wolf, well you will fall for him as much as Haddy does.
This was a book that hooked me right from the very start and kept my attention right from the get go until the very last sentence. It was well written with a compelling story line and well developed characters. The pacing was really good and matched the tone of the book and the tension within the story line really well and the chapters were really short and snappy which really helped keep me engaged, but, again, I think worked really well in keeping with the pace, tone and tension of the plot line.
There is so much going on in this book, with it being action packed right from the very start, but more than that there is so many themes that I would love to explore closer on a second read. Things such as trauma and its affects on both the body and the mind as well as the inner conflicts that happen throughout the book. I also think there is a lot in this book about the faith that people have and its place in both that person as a single and in society as a whole.
Blood Sapphire’s Revenge by Dr. Bruce Farmer is an action packed, fast paced rollercoaster ride that will have you eager to turn the next page.
It’s a military thriller, maybe comparable to say, Jason Bourne. But here we have a brilliant, strong, female lead character, Haddy, which is great to see.
I found it to be an incredibly well researched book, with lots of complex military talk, it’s well written, the storyline flows well and is gripping.
We have a great cast of characters with good depth, quite different to each other, raw and real. The story exposes the character's flaws, but it also highlights their strengths. The story is written in diary style as we follow Haddy on her journey through 4 different countries. This style is quite different to what I usually read, but i enjoyed the difference and read this book in 3 sittings.I'll definately be keeping my eye on this author to see what comes next.
Military Thrillers are not often something I go for but I really enjoyed this one, it has definite Jason Bourne and Jack Reacher vibes but with a tough strong female heroine in Haddy and is one cracker of a debut novel. Its action packed from the get go, its a short timeline set over only 27 days but we visit four countries in that time, the fast pace & speed of the story just add intensity to the adventure & drama keeping you hooked and on the edge of your seat.
I loved the authors style of writing and despite the fast pace and constant changing location and action I never lost track of where we were. I really enjoyed the large cast of characters feeling it added to the action packed timeline particularly the main characters of Haddy & Wolf & I left myself wanting to know more about them, their connection and past.
If you are a fan of action packed Thrillers this one is definitely for you, it's easy to see why it may be adapted for screen, it a story perfect for the screen.
This was an action-packed and adrenaline-fueled thriller. The author's attention to detail in the military jargon and activity and the rich character dynamics between Wolf and Haddy made the compelling action scenes and mesmerizing emotional connections that formed much more enticing.
The way the author brought such a strong and badass female protagonist to the page was great to see and much needed in the military thriller genre. The tension, chaotic atmosphere, and the chilling antagonists the heroes must face make this thriller stand out, compelling the reader to get lost in this mesmerizing globe-trotting suspense drama.
The Verdict
Harrowing, engaging, and memorable author Bruce Farmer’s “Blood Sapphire’s Revenge” is a must-read thriller. The twists the author gives to readers throughout this novel and the compelling military action fans of the genre have come to expect make this a remarkable story.
Blood Sapphires Revenge is Dr Bruce Farmers debut novel, and the first book in this series.
I definitely stepped outside my usual genre to read this book, but I’m so glad I did as I was hooked right from the very start! Fast paced and action packed, the story is told through several POVs, the main two being Haddy Abrams (an Israeli Special Ops sniper) and Wolf James (a NYPD detective).
A lot of concentration is needed for this book as there is a lot of information to process. The whole book covers less than a month, spans over four different countries, and is filled with multiple characters, each with their own stories that need to be told. I do feel like it was a bit too fast paced in some areas, but each chapter is quite short and the POV changes regularly which really helped me!
The plot was intricate and well written with lots of twists and turns, which kept the tension high and my butt right on the edge of my seat. I’m sure I missed some important parts of the plot, but I’ll definitely be giving it another read and I am very excited for book two in the series!

Blood Sapphire's Revenge is not my usual type of book. However, I was drawn to this book because of the Jack Reacher comparisons as I loved these books. I am glad I stepped outside my usual comfort zone as this was a nice change from my usual readings. It was very action packed and gripped me from the start. It follows a few different characters (think my favourite has to be Wolf) all set in different countries, so it does jump around a bit. You definitely need to be paying attention to be able to keep up with what everyone is doing and who's "side" they're on. The whole book is set over a relatively short time frame of about a month so you definitely feel the tension building. This will definitely translate well to a screen production. I've heard this is being made into a Netflix show and I will definitely be checking that out. I hope it is able to do this fantastic book justice.
This book almost has immediate action. It happens quite quickly. There were many different points of view. Many of them I simply wasn't expecting. Characters fighting their own demons make them more rounded and give them a sense of reality. It was interesting to see things from different perspectives. It's fast-paced with short chapters, which was nice. There was a great attention to detail, and it really felt like the author took the time to get things accurate.
🔫 Thriller 🔫 Military 🔫
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into this one. It was difficult for me personally. It felt like it jumped around too much. I just failed to catch and hold my attention well. But the overall plot and characters were well done. Maybe I’ll try again at another time. I think it would be worth a shot.
Firstly, let’s start by saying that book was jam packed full of action! However, some of it for me, was a bit too far fetched when reading it. I liked that it was short chapters which made it a very quick read as I kept reading chapter after chapter squeezing them in whenever I could. There is A LOT of different gun talk and the use of Roman numerals which sometimes I had to stop and google. The story is told through three different POV’s which I liked, reading about their individual story and then how they all came together at the end. Haddy seemed to get her perfect ending and I like how the book felt finished and wasn’t left on a cliff hanger… love a happy ending!
Looking forward to watching this one on the screen!
If you enjoy military action thrillers you need to check out this book. It is action packed with a lot going on with the characters and the plot. It’s hard to believe this is a debut novel but I can see many more books coming from this author. It is a down and dirty military story with plenty of swearing, intimate scenes, and doing things for a higher power. I can see this as a short series or movie on a streaming platform (definitely not network tv material!). I was not a fan of the swearing and intimacy scenes but that is just my personal preference. I loved the sniper scenes and the military action scenes. I know a lot of people will really enjoy this book. It even earned a great review from Kirkus!
