She's looking for closure, not love. But who can resist the sexy cowboy who helped get her car out of a ditch.
Emma Wallace has it all in New York, but she can't help but wonder about the family that gave her up for adoption. When she finally tracks down her biological father and sister in Montana, she jumps on a plane hoping for answers and closure.
Otto Prescott is determined to build a relationship with his young daughter after moving back to Montana following his military retirement. The last thing he needs is a distraction in the form of Emma—the outrageously beautiful city girl who got stuck in a ditch. But a one off date couldn't hurt, until he discovers he hooked up with the boss's long lost daughter.
As they navigate newfound family ties and the challenges of starting a relationship, Emma and Otto must choose between their individual priorities and their growing love for each other. When Emma is offered her dream job back in New York, she must decide whether to return to her old life or start afresh in Montana.
If only the scars of her abandonment didn’t run so deep, making it hard to trust and let go of the past.
Fish out of water, single dad, opposites attract, in love with the boss's daughter
Standard small-town/ranch contemporary with some steamy sex scenes. The set-up if fairly weak - with the 20-something heroine who aged out of foster care arriving unannounced on her long lost bio dad's doorstep - AFTER her bio mom said vile things to her and slammed the door in her face. Her lack of caution after that experience was puzzling. But once she's on Daddy's ranch, he encourages her to stay and she meets the hero, who works for Bio Dad. He's fresh out of the military, divorced, and his ex is being squirrely with custody of their kid - which, he's got a job, he's not a criminal, he's not a scumbag - I'm having a hard time figuring out how she has that much power over him re: seeing his kid when they both have legal representation. Anywhoodle...
Once past the set-up, this settles in. Both hero and heroine have baggage that makes relationships hard for them, and it settles into the standard Will The Big City Gal Give It All Up For Small Town Life - and, I think we all know the answer to that. If you're personally tired of that expectation/trope, yeah - this one isn't going to sway you.
It's fine. It's pleasant. But ask me in another week and I probably won't recall much.
Interesting story and characters but I didn't engage with the writing. To be fair, I had the same issue with the first book in the series so probably should have skipped this one but thought maybe things would get better as the series went on. Also to be fair, this is just my opinion and I'm sure others will absolutely love the characters and story as well as connect with the writing.

This was a wonderful addition to the series. While it is a part of a series, you don't have to read the prior one to fully understand and enjoy this one. I will say that there is a one scene that the author really did a good job run filling in when some of the first book was discussed.
I adored Addy (Otto's little girl). She had some really great scenes and lines. She had some snarky at times to her as little girls are prone to have on occasion. It really made her more life-like.
This book is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse helps me to connect better to the characters. I better understand their actions and words so much better. Here it helps as Emma was given up for adoption after she was born but she wasn't. She was moved around in the foster care system. It is believed that since her father may come and claim her, no body wanted to risk the emotional turmoil that may cause.
Emma lives in New York City. She finds her dad through a private investigator. She had located her mother (what a snotty character thank goodness she was just a mention!). Her mother did give her her father's name and location. Since Emma is temporarily unemployed after being laid off, she decides to head to Montana for some answers to a few questions.
Otto is a fairly new hire as a ranch-hand after leaving the military. He moved to Montana to be closer to his ex-wife and and their daughter, Addy. Otto is such a gentleman. He stops when he sees a car in a ditch. He is on his way to see his lawyer and will be late if he stops but he can't in good conscious leave someone stranded on the side of a road that gets little traffic. Otto helps the gorgeous lady in the sunflower dress before rushing off in his now dirty suit!
Otto and Addy have an immediate connection. These two characters are just prefect for each other. Both are kind-hearted and caring. I adored getting to see some of the prior couple of the first book and secondary characters throughout.
This is a really great feel-good romance. There are a few sexy scenes but nothing overly graphic in nature. I was really sorry to see this end. I hope that there are a few more books in this series in the future.
Otto and Emma are definitely not looking for romance when he rescues her car from a ditch. Both have family drama and angst to deal with that has put guards up around their hearts. As a child, Emma was shuttled around the foster care system. She has learned to be Independent, determined and brave enough to go after what she wants. When she aged out, her search for both of her birth parents took her first to a mother who refused to have anything to do with Emma other than give her the name of her father. After hiring a PI, and currently between jobs, Emma has come to Montana to meet her birth father and the sister she just discovered. To say both father and sister are shocked is an understatement, especially since Emma’s birth mother left her father without warning and never told him she was pregnant. Emma never expected to see her rescuer, Otto, again, but he happens to work for the father she has just met and who has asked her to stay on his.ranch. Otto is dealing with child custody issues with an ex wife who is determined that he gets very little visitation with his five year old daughter Addie. His unexpected and fierce attraction to the newly found daughter of his boss just sets him on edge. Since Emma is doing her best to pitch in and help around the ranch, Otto can’t avoid her especially during mealtimes at the main house. Both find that each interaction just sparks up their mutual attraction further, until they succumb to their desire for each other. Though they tell themselves it is a one time only, or casual encounter, the truth is neither can forget their passionate encounter and both want more. Is a relationship even possible for them when her life is in New York and they both have messy family matters to resolve? Their path to any future together is definitely bumpy, but will they fight for a chance at a happily ever after? They both have a turmoil of emotions and residual pain to confront before that can happen.

This story I found is quite good. The storyline is there, the good characterization is there. There is just one thing I was wondering and that is the tense being used in the story which is for the most part present tense, with some in past tense, but as I am not an English specialist - it being my fourth language - I am not sure if they are used correctly, or it is just that most stories are written in the past tense... So that leaves me in a small conundrum but then I decided as I really liked the story itself and could not put it down until finished -it helped I am a bit of an insomniac- and this with the tenses is not my expertise I am giving this story fabulous four stars.

Emma travels from New York to Montana to meet her biological family. Her car goes into a ditch right before she can get there, and a kind cowboy named Otto helps her. He is just out of the military and has moved here to be closer to his ex and daughter. Sparks fly and the fun situations start, along with great banter and backstories. Loved the chemistry between Emma and Otto as they try to forge a relationship that will last, even with the ex making problems. Big decisions, surprises and lots of drama and airport trips keep you hooked. Great ending.

Taking the steps to meet her biological parents was big for Emma, but she had no idea making this decision would turn into so much more and before she even meets them she meets Otto. Otto and Emma are made for each other and both deserve some good in life and add in Addy who is the sweetest kid you want them all to become one family. There are some highs and lows as well as some good laughs while they not only get to know each other but deal with life's hurdles. A great read that leaves you with a smile on your face.. I really enjoyed this book, especially since I'm a sucker for hot cowboys🤠
I did enjoy the whole thing though, the story was good, the writing flowed really nicely and I liked how the chapters flicked between Otto and Emma, I love getting both perspectives in these kinds of books!
Plus, the characters were great. I liked how the author included the supporting characters too, it was nice to see their involvement in the story and they definitely added value.
The story itself was just the same vibe as most in this genre, but I enjoy that kind of story so it didn't bother me that it felt similar to others I'd read.
This was just a really nice read and I enjoyed it!
Emma wants to know her biological parents, that alone hooked me. The characters were wonderful and who does not like a cowboy. Emma gets some help when her car gets stuck. The story picks up and it kept me engaged. This deals with relationships and I loved Otto and Emma together. They both have other relationships that need some work but plans do not always work out the way they want. This is just a great story. Glad I had the chance to read it.

A well written romance that pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages. The characters are endearing, enjoyable to get to know and realistic. Following them on their journey of love, romance and HEA will put and smile on your face and keep it there with every turn of the page.

This reads well as a standalone, giving enough info about book 1 in the series to understand the dynamics but also to pique my interest to read it myself. There are cowboys, ex military men and dogs, long lost family and obsessed chickens!

I've read book 1 and 2 and I love the stories and the people. My only complaint is that there were so many missing words and grammatical errors that it took some of the enjoyment out it. I was auto correcting as I went. Someone did a poor job of proofing. I'm available for the job if you need me to proof. Cheri
Can love conquer all? This book supplies the answer. Two people who both need to find a way past hurts they have lived through just May have found the secret to happiness at last. Good book.
This book was really sweet. I loved that Emma found the love she had always wanted with Otto. But the way her dad instantly loved her without proof of DNA or anything was amazing
The great plot was beautifully written, and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!
The fish-out-of-water dynamic with Emma meeting her family at Three Keys Ranch worked very well. The relationship between Emma and Otto was sweet, hot, and had me rooting for them the whole time.
