Announcing a new book that showcases Detroit in the late 1800s through the 1930s with award-winning photojournalism of The Detroit News. From WWI to the birth of the auto industry, the Great Depression to celebrations, Prohibition to presidential visits, and more, this coffee-table book is full of dynamic photos of the past that is sure to delight.
I love history and vintage pictures, so this collection of pre-1940 photos from the Detroit News archives was a real treat. Each chapter covers a decade with a short explanation of events that occurred, and each image has a brief description and historical details. Since my ancestors on my maternal grandmother's branch of the family tree include many prominent French names starting at the very beginnings of Detroit, I am always fascinated with Detroit history.
This is an Excellent Photo Book from the archives of the Detroit News. Divided into years 1800-1899 and then the early decades of the 20th Century, it captures the historical and cultural happenings of those years. Detroit has captured my heart and I thoroughly enjoy seeing these images and hearing of it’s history.
