Sirius clunks about in his Doc Martens and listens to The Stooges and smokes cigarettes and wears his hair much too long and spends more time serving detention than not.
And is way too forward about his sudden feelings for Remus.
(A story about teenagers and summer love in the 70s.)
Believe it or not, I actually quite liked Sirius’ characterization in this one, and the writing style was my cup of tea.
However, it was a bit shorter than I’d expected (Chapter 7 was only a playlist, in the end) and left me wanting more, and also rather fast in terms of romantic development. I think that’s my fault though, I knew the general length of the fic when I chose to read it, and I’ve been known to prefer longer fics because emotional depth is more prevalent in those.
Non-lesbian Marlene and Dorcas are always a shock to me, but making Marlene be so irritatingly needy and then suddenly apologetic was unrealistic to me idk. Not just for her character, but generally-speaking.
The summer vibes in this fic were kind of immaculate though, I must admit. And the rope scene had me wanting to rewatch The Notebook.
I rate this a 3.25 maybe a 3.5 I enjoyed it overall but jeez was I struggling with some of the things that happened there was a lot more miscommunication then I thought there would be and it caught me off guard but I enjoyed it and the ending was cute at least
