Key is not really Doctor Key. I’m over that part, but it wouldn’t shock me if he really was a doctor. He definitely wasn’t lying about getting arrested. There are now three people at my museum who can translate the missing page from the grimoire as easily as breathing. This isn’t good. This isn’t good at all.
But I trust my new houseguests. They have intimate knowledge of Thorunn and the Cult of the Aether Sisters. They all have their reasons for stopping them and yeah, I just met Sleipnir and Bjorn, but they are planning some sort of reckoning on Valentine for what he did to me.
The only problem is that Bjorn sees the future and he hasn’t seen us stopping Thorunn from coming back from the dead and starting a new cult.

Pre-read (5/5/2022): I will be reading and reviewing this after Finals next week. Despite coming out of the worst reading slump of my life, I won't let one of J.B. Trepagnier's books pass me by without giving my opinion on it. Especially since I adored Ravyn in book 1 and the Norse myths have so much plot power and after that kinda "cliff-hanger", I am so excited for this. Even if this has to be my post graduation celebration... I will be reading this in May.
Pre-read (5/14/22): I am starting!! This picks up right were book one left off <3
Final Review (7/18/22): 2 months later, I am here to write this review as always I took notes so don’t panic. To be honest this review is really just the combining and polishing of a chaotic couple of notebook spreads. I really did enjoy this when I read it in May and I often find the 4 & 5 star reviews to be the hardest to sit down and compose because I am not ranting in book anguish.
Into this novel. Actually to back up to my review of Disabling Relics for Dummies, I made a promise to include character reactions to 2 of the harem, who I deemed to spoilerly for my book 1 review but I am trusting y’all to have learned of these characters if you are looking into book 2.
Sleipnir son of Loki (Dr. Key) who was freed in the first book. In myth he is the eight-legged horse ridden by Odin in this rendition, that remains the same but takes the ethical angle that he was kidnapped as a baby and can shift to a human form but isn’t allowed to. Sleipnir’s narrative truly brings a familial, maternal side to Loki which brings a depth of characterization. Sleipnir himself has a lot of fun quirks as he adapts to a new world. Even though I like his character, I’m still not on board with mother & son being in Ravyn’s harem.
Bjorn I looooove him. He is such a sweetie. Also imprisoned in a “pocket world?” (I forgot to note the term Trepagnier used in this novel, sorry!) with Sleipnir. They are close friends. Bjorn is sensitive and kind which Ravyn’s harem seems to be lacking a bit of. Badasses all around these lots. Not that Bjorn can hold his own, the man was born in Ancient Norse times, but his focus is more scholastic and on his gift of prophecy .
As a reader I feel as if I need a strong affinity for characters then I can handle even the most meandering of plots. This wasn’t overly meandering but it does lay the foundation for the next book and other series in this universe. I loved the inclusion of the market and the fae grandma person was very interesting. I am actually kind of glad to have waited to review this because now I am ready to jump off from that cliffhanger into Battle of Witches is on GR labeled to be released on August 31 only a month and half from now!
Overall, 4 stars of classic J.B. Trepagnier’s writing style and content.
I wish this book had some comment in the description about needing to read the series about Ripley before reading this one. I felt like I had walked into the middle of a movie halfway into phase 2 of a series. It's seriously disorienting. "You should know this already!" I didn't like that feeling in college and I still don't.
So, editing. It needs it for clarity as well as word usage. In terms of clarity, there were times where I wasn't certain who was speaking, there were times where the sentences didn't make sense to me, and there were times where the point of view that was stated on the chapter heading changed in the chapter, only to change again. If we need to know what someone else is thinking, label it as their thought and maybe don't set the perspective in the chapter heading.
The cast: I like them. I give them 5/5 for relatable and likeable personality and physicality. However, they are a little light on the details. Height, build, and hair, but no eye color, hair texture, skin tones, etc. I understand that these are supposed to be Scandinavian people, but they have differences in skin tones. Details about clothing textures, accessories, etc are also nice. We know that Rayven has red hair, wears black lipstick, and wears black, but that's it. It's all of the details that help us become invested in a character or relate to them. I like the idea of the school, library, and museum of the profane, but massive amounts of detail are missing. The world building just isn't happening.
These are the reason that I have this book 3 stars. It could have been a five star book with some editing and extra details.
This ❤️ one seemed short and it ends with a cliffhanger
I love this author and every book 📚 of hers I've read so far. The Twins are awesome. I am stoked that you his twin gets the Norse men. It's Awesome to have gotten to know Bjorn more in this book. I'm assuming we will learn more about Sleipnir in the next one. I honestly just hate that I have to wait so many months for the next book. I wish her books were longer as well because I enjoy her writing but that's my only complaints. Dive into the world of the Twins and their HUGE family including Bella and Kaine. I'm hoping we will get more of this world after this series ends.
The gang tries to stop her ex from making a huge mistake and screwing them over but they’re just a little too late. This book flues by but does give time to get to know her two new men, children of Loki. The fact they call him mother was kinda annoying and took me awhile to catch on. It’s cool seeing Ravyn and her sister working together and having each others backs. Hopefully soon life will calm down at both the library and the museum, but working in a library myself I can admit they’re not always the quiet boring places they appear, same for museums 😜😜😜
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. I cannot wait to see what will happen in the next book. Ravyn and her crew are fantastic and the mythology will make you think about if the gods walk among us even today.

As a long time of the Trepagnier, I've read a lot of her books and she never ceases to amaze me with the books that she writes. This book adds in two new characters that are from an older time and have to readjust to the new modern world. Thanks to them, we really get to explore the more domestic side of things set in this universe. We got to visit the college; we got to see the characters go shopping and while that might seem boring, it's the slower moments that really give the story life. There are social norms in the paranormal modern world and the two new characters have to learn them and get confused by. It made things feel more relatable. I just loved this book with all the choices that it made. I also love that it doesn't shy away from the idea that some of its characters are bisexual and/or gender fluid. That just makes things even more interesting and I am all for it. I even did a whole book blog on it. I can't wait for the next book!.

J.B. Trepagnier's Museum of the Profane series continues with the second book in the series, Coven Relics, and not only do things get more witchy, but they also get even crazier. I loved it.
The twins are some badass witches, both Ravyn and Ripley are powerful in their own right but absolute devastation when together. How the twins not only treat each other but those around them prove what good people they are. Willing to help is fair, and do what's right and that message clear as crystal in this book.
Ravyn's and Killian's romantic relationship is excellent, still perfectly in sync, and hotter than ever. Best of all Loki has made amends, revealed his secrets, and is now involved with Ravyn and Killian. I love Loki, always have and this version of him is considerate (depending on the situation), smart, sexy, and fiercely loyal. I love the trickster and the fact that he is so utterly devoted to those he cares about is everything.
Why is this book full of adorable men? Seriously Ravyn got a good group. Getting to know Sleipnir and Bjorn was great, the two friends couldn't have been more different but they both care about Loki and each other. They're fitting in well with the group like it was fate and getting used to the new world they find themselves in. For such big guys, they are adorable when someone treats them nicely or they discover something they like. I like both guys a lot even if Sleipnir is a little gruff at times. Ravyn likes both guys and both like her even if Sleipnir is being stubborn about it. The coven aka Ravyn's harem is coming together, they just need to finalize things.
Seriously the book was a hoot, there were plenty of funny and light-hearted moments and of course plenty of drama and family comradery. There was a ghost playing pranks with sex toys, a robbery, a grudge reached its peak, talk of orgies, fabulous makeovers, raves, a surprise reveal, and Loki's sorted history was revealed. There was a lot more Viking stuff in this one along with more Norse mythology. After hearing things from Loki's side my heart went out to the playful god and after everything, he's still trying to make things right by stopping the resurrection of the supernatural version of some boogeymen.
Coven Relics was a great read, I was so incredibly comfortable in Ravyn's story, I just sunk into the book. The story just gets better as it goes along and I loved the characters since the first book, that's including Ripley and her guys. The books in this series go by so fast, I can't believe that there's only one book left I'm not ready for it to end but after that disastrous ending I'm dying to see how the story comes to its conclusion.
Trouble is brewing and our heroine is going to need help to fix things. Enter our heroes. Multiple heroes, that is.
This is book two of the series. It does pretty well as a standalone, but you will get a more complete experience if you start from the beginning of the series.
This is a paranormal reverse harem romance dealing with magical artifacts. What fun! The story is well written and easy to read. The characters are well done, with nice backgrounds and unique personalities. I really liked how the characters are coming together. The setting is also nicely done and really invites exploration. I can't wait to see more. On top of that there is a lot of action as well as a bit of steam. Overall, it makes for a nice addition to the series and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Highly recommended.

I'm not entirely sure how to rate this second book in the "Museum of the Profane" series. I like the way these characters fit together and especially how they can all be themselves without any kind of prejudice against them. JB Trepagnier creates some very original characters and I enjoy their personalities and interactions. Their different POV's are both lovely and funny, and they give me a happy feeling while reading. The only problem I had with this book was that it felt like nothing really happened until the end. All the action was saved for the final pages and the rest of the book felt like waiting for something to happen. Ravyn grows closer to her men, but nothing really fundamental seems to happen there either... I really love these characters, so I still think it was worth my time, but I hope the third book will have a faster pace than this one.
Book 2 doesn't leave us in suspense and takes off right where the last book ended. The group itself is going through major adjustments being together, and working on the battles that come their way.
Rayvn is getting what she wants but it comes with a price, and making sure they all come out together and out on top. The world building has been amazing and it's amazing to see them come together when they need to. I also like that there is a great flow from book 1 to book 2, sometimes in series things can be left out, or it can feel disconnected. This doesn't feel that way at all, the author has done an amazing job, making the series feel cohesive.
We're hit with a wall as our cliff hanger and I can't wait for book 3, I can't wait to see how they work out everything in the future books.

Coven Relics is book #2 in The Museum of the Profane series Ravyn and what seem to be her "to-be" harem or "coven" are dealing with the aftermath of Valentine stealing from the museum.
Another god on earth is revealed, backstories are delivered, visions about the future appear and spice and flirting within the coven take place.
The cliffhanger at the end of this book is fierce. The author does a good job of keeping somethings clear, while others are so up in the air. The twist in the final pages was crazy good and I cannot wait for book 3.

So book 2 in The Museum of the Profane series, Coven Relics picked up where book one left off. Ravyn is a very strong character and I am enjoying the fact that the harem isn't just jumping into things, but getting to know each other and establishing a foundation for the relationship. It took me a little bit to get used to Sleipner calling Loki his mother, it is correct but confusing if you don't pay attention. Jackson is so getting his butt kicked when they catch up to him, and a plot twist on who the big evil is. Interest piqued yet? Read the series it's worth it.

'Coven Relics' is the follow up book to 'Disabling Relics for Dummies' in the The Museum of the Prfane series. As a sophomore book it falls flat. I generally love this author's work but I found myself putting down the book to do other things. It didn't really keep my attention. The storyline is the lead up to finding and punishing Valentine, but it was more of Rayven forming her relationships with the vikings and less action. The ending was anticlimactic with a showdown that goes out with a whimper. I'm hoping the next book picks up the slack to a fabulous ending.

I loved everything about this book and about this world. Ravyn is awesome and the introduction of Sleipnir and Bjorn just makes things better. It’s interesting to see the bits and pieces of Norse mythology and to view them through Loki’s eyes and his devotion to his sons is sweet. The fact that her men feel very protective of Ravyn yet also fully acknowledge her ability to take care of business herself is great. Another strong point is the growing relationship between Killian and Loki. The cliffhanger made me crazy but it gives me something to look forward to! I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
As always, I love the wit and humor that the author writes with. The references she makes is humors and shows how much in touch she is with pop culture today. Most of the references I got. The characters were great and it is always fantastic to see some familiar faces. I loved the development as we got to get to know them more as the story went on. I loved the jokes and the way the plot line moved through the story. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I couldn't wait to dive into the next work.
Five out of five stars.

Ravyn's ex has stolen a page out of Thorunn's grimoire, and is preparing to bring back the Cult of the Aether Sisters. Ripley has her coven, and Ravyn's is gathering around her - and includes Loki. Will they be able to stop Valentine's plan in time? Is Thorunn really the one activating the plan? Will Killian survive their efforts to keep 2 school girls safe and stop the ritual? Cliff hanger ending - and I cant wait for the next book!!.

I want to prefice this by saying that I have given every single book in the Profane series 5 stars. I have really struggled to give this book higher that 3 stars because so much of it didn't make sense. There is punctuation missing, speech which is hard to discern who is talking and generally difficult to read in places.
The storyline is excellent, as always. I love Ripley, Rayvn and their guys and that's why I've been so torn with my star rating.

Love this book! I’ve been a long time reader of this author and was so excited to read the next book in the series and discover more about Ravyn and her coven. From the beginning it grabs your attention and from there it is just the most enjoyable book. I love how every character is just so accepting and supporting of the differences that exist between them (except Valentine and some others… you know who I mean). This series is will be one of my go to re-reads in the future and I’m excited to read the future books in this series!
Problem, searching, trouble, danger and laughter. I hate Gertrude. I love Bjorn and Sleipner figuring this century out. I love Ravyn statement I licked him so he is mine. I love what Loki says to the Succubus and her friend after the rave. I would love a video of Sleipner dancing. Mind blown with Minerva's secret. Valentine is so dumb. I can not wait til he gets his. Great twist at the end and thank goodness no one of Ravyn's group died.

I loved this book, I really did and I waited a long time to read this series because the last book wasn’t published yet. It should have been released today and I explicitly timed my TBR to start the last book directly on the release date. Only it wasn’t released. I hate that! Piece of advice: don’t publish release dates when you can’t hold your deadline. I was so annoyed that I cancelled my pre-order and I took a whole star from my rating for this shit. I don’t care if it’s the author or the publisher or the tooth fairy. Don’t set release dates when you can’t deliver!
This story is an awesome mix of Norse mythology and magic creatures. I was debating whether to give 4 stars, for the sort of cliffhanger ending, but I had to give 5 stars, because the book is so well written, with Loki and Sleipnir as standout awesome characters. Ravyn is a wonderful lead character, and I am totally enjoying the new perspective on the Norse gods.

Ravyn is growing closer with Killian (her familiar) and Loki, but after opening the puzzle box they ended up freeing Bjorn and Sleipnir. But her ex boyfriend Valentine has stolen a page of the Sisters of Aether grimoire and now everyone is trying to stop what is happening before the solar eclipse needed to bring them back from the dead.

Coven Relics is book two in The Museum of the Profane series and it picks up where book one left off. This is a paranormal reverse harem romance packed with interesting characters, a unique storyline, danger, drama, and unexpected twists that made this a page turning read. From the mythology to the amazing world this author has created I am loving this series and I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This book was a great continuation of the first . I will say that there were several twists I did not see coming . I love that we got to learn more about Loki and his family . I am also hoping that in the future one of Loki’s friends (no spoiler) mentioned in the book gets a spin-off! I love this world that the author has created !
Rayvn is faced with some challenges as this book picks up where the last ended. While the group is adjusting to life together and in a new century, they are also doing battle on a couple fronts. Rayvn finally gets what she wanted but it comes with a steep price. I cant wait to see how the necromancy plays out.
That cliffhanger tho! I want more! I enjoy the relationships between the characters, and the Norse Gods are fascinating to me, so I appreciate all the 'history'. I felt this book was a lot of repeating from different perspectives, but it wasn't the worst thing. I am looking forward to more, and I wish it were sooner!
A great story in this series and this world of the profane. Tons of action and drama. Steamy and romantic with plot twists to keep you guessing. Excellent FMC and all her love interests. Love the old Norse mythology and the blending of different beliefs. Can’t wait for more from this world. Definitely recommend.
Ravyn's story continues seamlessly from book 1 in this second additon to The Museum of the Profane series. While Rayvn continues her journey with Loki and Killian, there now the addition of two more characters. I am really enjoying the development of the plot and the all the Norse mythology elements.
