Beware the quiet wolf. He's the one you don't see coming...
All is quiet in Kurrjakk when Jamie gets a call from an old friend. A family has seemingly vanished in the mountains near the border to the north, and the local polis have turned up nothing.

When Jamie and Thorsen arrive in the quiet border town of Etterange, it doesn’t take long for them to realise something isn’t right. An inept twenty-six-year-old is running the polis station, there’s been a spate of unreported missing persons, and there are rumblings of a strange community living out on the lake, shut off from the rest of the world.

When Jamie and Thorsen discover a crash site on the road, they converge on a place known only as The Farm, hoping to find the missing Boehman family safe and sound.

But with winter closing in, the nights freezing, the landscape untamed, and the animals that stalk it just as wild, Jamie and Thorsen will need to stick together if they hope to exhume the truth. But will that truth be enough? What secrets are hidden at the Farm? Where are the Boehmans? And is it already too late… to save them, to call for help, to get out alive?

***Quiet Wolf is the fifth novel in the DI Jamie Johansson series, and the sinister follow-up to Death Chorus. With a dark psychological edge underpinning the classic Scandi-noir themes, and plenty of twists and turns along the way, it’s perfect for fans of Mo Hayder, Jo Nesbø, A J Rivers, and Angela Marsons. Quiet Wolf is another harrowing adventure for Jamie Johansson and is sure to have fansreading long into the night.

Eeeek - that was even freakier than book 4 😱! It was really, really disturbing.

The Boehman family - dad, mum and seven year old daughter - are on a road trip heading to the far north of Sweden and ultimately heading to Tromso in Norway to see the Northern Lights when tragedy strikes. They are in the middle of nowhere, it is freezing cold, when a woman darts in front of the car and, although Ed Boehman tries his best to avoid hitting her, the car hits the woman. He gets out and his brain struggles to take in what he is seeing - her ears are missing, her mouth is a black hole where her teeth and tongue to be. But what really freaks him out are the empty sockets of where her eyes used to be. Clearly this is not a book for the squeamish!

The next day DI Jamie Johansson, who is still in Kurrajakk, gets a call from her ex police partner from Stockholm, Anders Wiik. He is concerned about his sister-in-law and her family who should have arrived somewhere by now but he cannot reach them. Unsurprisingly he is talking about the Boehman family….

Jamie grabs Thorsen, her current partner in Kurrajakk, and tells him it’s time for a drive, it’s only a few hundred kilometres! They head to the stretch of road where the family’s cell phones were last pinged and find evidence of some sort of accident - black skid marks on the road, bits of broken tail lights, and on the road itself, some blood and long strands of white hair. They head to the nearest town, Etterange, and speak to the only police presence there, the young acting police chief Lehrman.

He comes across as very hinky to Jamie. He says the family is safe, they hit a deer and he’s taken them to The Farm, a private settlement a little way out of town. Jamie and Thorsen know it’s not a deer the car hit but when Lehrman offers to drive them to the farm they reluctantly agree. Jamie just wants see they are safe and then get back to Kurrajakk.

But the farm is very off. The leader, Michael, appears very accommodating but the two officer are not convinced. The other people there seem like zombies and the Boehmans are not even there, they are across the lake at the ‘church’ and no, Jamie can’t go there as the only boat is already on the other side.

Welcome your nightmare! The Farm is some sort of cult like commune, everyone is creepy. And that’s before they start trying to kill Jamie and Thorsen. In this book Jamie’s determination and bravery are tested to the max. She and Thorsen are constantly on the move, trying to avoid being horribly murdered while still trying to find the Boehmans.

Not many books scare me but this one did. The story, the cult, the horrific practices were beyond gruesome. When you get to the end you get the meaning of the title. Yet, while they surrounded by danger and under enormous pressure Jamie and Thorsen open up to each other and become almost friends. They certainly have each others backs. I’m not sure where Jamie’s story heads next but there is another book in the works and I can’t wait to read it! And now I need something a little lighter.

First and foremost, a large thank you to Morgan Greene for providing me with a copy of this novel, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

Happy to have the latest Morgan Greene novel in hand, I rushed to settle down with Detective Jamie Johansson yet again. Greene develops another great crime thriller in rural Sweden, where Johansson finds herself in the middle of a missing person investigation. Still living in Kurrajakk, Detective Jamie Johansson has found her routine as she helps police the community. When she receives a frantic call from her former partner, Johansson makes her way even further north to look for a missing family. What she discovers is something far more confusing and sinister. Greene develops this series so well and keeps the reader on their toes throughout.

Detective Jamie Johansson has found her groove in the northern Swedish community of Kurrajakk. One of a literal handful of police, Johansson and her partner, Kjell Thorsen, must keep the peace. When Johansson receives a call from her former partner about a missing family in an even more remote community, she can Thorsen agree to have a look.

When they arrive, the sole police officer says that he is unsure what might have happened and cannot see any foul play, something that Johansson and Thorsen contradict when they make their way to the scene. Human hair and tire marks litter the road, depicting a worrisome crime scene. Now, it is a matter of finding them, left to wonder if there is a killer on the loose.

With the local police officer vowing that nothing is amiss and that the family has turned up at a local church, Johansson is not satisfied. When she and Thorsen investigate, they discover a group who call themselves the Wolves and act in a very peculiar manner. Their views are steeped in the Bible, as well as turning towards a leader who has all the answers. Alas, while Johansson and Thorsen want to help the family, it would seem that no one is going anywhere without a little push, something that might require help from all the way in Stockholm. A chilling thriller that will keep series fans on their toes and new readers rushing to get caught up with all that DI Jamie Johansson has to offer.

Since I was first introduced to the work of Morgan Greene, I have come to build a connection to Jamie Johansson. The strong writing Greene offers up and the storytelling never disappoints, leaving me to wonder what else is to come. I am always eager to see where Johansson will find herself, as well as how her new revelations will shape the series.

Jamie Johansson has definitely transformed in the last handful of novels, coming into her own as she tries to carve out a niche. While much of the book is about the cases at hand, there are moments where some inner development occurs, much to the delight of the series reader. Johansson appears destined to remain in Sweden, feeling that there is nothing for her back in the UK. However, that could all change before long and Greene will have to keep his protagonist on her toes as she tackles many of the issues that arise.

Morgan Greene has a way with his writing, pulling the reader in from the opening pages and sustaining the intensity until the final paragraph. His mix of great crime thrillers, Scandinavian settings, and strong characters make the books alluring to the curious reader. The narrative remains strong as it pushes forward through succinct chapters. The plot thickens and takes the reader on quite the adventure into some dark themes, which only adds to the allure. Continued peppering of Swedish into the text adds plausibility, being set in rural Sweden. I am eager to see where things are headed for Jamie and the entire crew, as Greene has announced a few novels set to release this year.

Kudos, Mr. Greene, for another successful Jamie Johansson thriller. There is much to enjoy with this series and I cannot get enough.

The Case Of A Missing Family In A Remote, Frozen Town

An intense thriller with a dark psychological edge that will keep you reading with All your lights on! Detective Jamie Johansson is a character I have loved from her first case. The author has done a fantastic job showing her growth, personality, and the need to always right every wrong in front of her. She is now in Sweden, in a small community where not much happens. Then a former partner calls, asking her to look into a missing family in an even more remote community not far from her. Then the fun begins...
Upon arriving in the town, both Jamie and her partner, Thorsen, feel evil in their bones. They find a car crash site with no one there, no car, only a swatch of grey hair, which has them believe a person was hit. Time to go to 'The Farm', where hopefully they will find the family. But, What is 'The Farm', and just Who runs it? One time in life where the truth may Not set you free, but put you in the eye of that Quiet Wolf, the one you don't see coming until too late...
A chilling read that you are pulled into quickly and are unable to get out until end the story.

It's unfair how good these books are. I wanted to binge all of Quiet Wolf last night, but it was actually scary so I decided to leave it for the morning.

I have no complaints, everything was perfect.

I love thriller books that can give you the same feelings when you reread them as they did when you read them originally. I think Jamie Johansson books will fall into this category, I can see myself loving them for years to come.

About this book specifically, it's spooky, the characters keep growing (or going backwards in Wiik's case at the end, or maybe I just got so used to Thorsen that I forgot how Wiik is? Who knows), and everything is completely insane, but in a good way.

I'LL REVEAL NOTHING ELSE, trust me, it's better to go into this not even reading the blurb. Just start reading it and feel the vibes. BUT, read alllll the books that came before this one first. Why?

1. Because you should.
2. Because I said so.
3. Because then, the ending might shock you more than it did me. And you'll also know who everyone is who might appear from the previous trilogies. Simple.

And that's my cue to read the prequel trilogy. I was going to anyway, and now I have time to do it till August. I have a feeling I'll be obsessed with *that* character. If you read it, you'll know which one.

5 stars, obviously.

Another thrilling entry into this great series and I'd give this 4.5 stars. Great chemistry between Jaime and Thorsen amidst an intriguing, gruesome and mysterious plot that isn't all it seems. I absolutely love this series. Each story sees us get to know more and more about Jaime and her inner struggles whilst she's kicking ass and solving the case....or not. The pacing is always spot on, the locations isolated, the baddies bad and the action top-notch. As always with these books, it's so hard to put them down hence me flying through this one. Another belter from Morgan Greene!

Although I often find the prose a bit clunky and I skip many of the long fight scenes, the author certainly knows how to keep a story moving. And this particular epilogue now has me reaching for the prequel Jamie Johansson books.

Gore score 3/5

#5 in DI Jamie Johansson

The last 2 books have gone in a darker creepier direction, one that I am loving as it gives something different.

It starts with a very strong hook!
Wiik’s sister in law, husband and daughter have been reported missing, Wiik had no joy from the local police and asks Jamie to get involved. As they have no crime to solve Jamie and Thorsen go on a road trip to the back end of nowhere, to a time warp Hicksville town, where the locals hate outsiders and have no intention of cooperating with the polis.
It has a real creepy feel to it, created by the weirdness of the people and The Farm.

I do like the developing relationship between Jamie and Thorsen, he doesn’t take her too seriously and kind of gets her despite her stand offish manner.

As I’ve come to expect it’s fast paced and action packed, it’s quite dark and gritty.
The epilogue includes a clever marketing device.

Another great instalment of Jamie.

There used to be a time where you'd read a fair few books and out of them you'd maybe read one or two that were phenomenal 10/10 reads. It seems in the last couple of years however the standard has really increased and a book really has to go some to gain that honour.
I'm a huge fan of Dan's books, and they have got better and better, and recently I've finished each one and thought wow.
Quiet Wolf is better than all of those!!!
The opening chapter is horrible and certainly sets the scene for what's to come.
The case takes Jamie and Thorsen off to a remote town, even remoter than the one they currently work in, after family of Wiik have gone missing.
As soon as they arrive in town they realise something is off but can't put their finger on why. The baby faced lead detective seems keen to get rid of them, smarmy horrible weak little man. He had no redeeming qualities whatsoever!
Eventually they start to learn the truth about whats happening in the town and its some kind of cult.
Jamie knows they have to be clever and find out what's happening and find the missing family and gather evidence without risking their lives and the lives of the family.
The sense of menace is present throughout, every single page. It doesn't let up. The cold, the quietness, the threat, it makes you on edge as you read.
Jamie is a great character and she has a complex background covered in previous books. In the previous book she was partnered with Thorsen and it seemed she may have finally met her match. He finally called her out on her crap, and there is a truly beautiful touching moment smack bang in the middle of this that reduced me to tears. Jamie has also rubbed off on Thorsen and he quickly accepts that the bets are off in this strange place and is more willing to bend the rules. The banter between them causes a few laughs along the way, much needed!
The more you read the more you come to understand the title and as it reaches its climax it really makes sense. Hints to coming back to this are possible and the epilogue brings back a character meaning the next book is already destined to be amazing.
Feels like my words can't actually do this justice but I've tried.

Firstly thank you to Morgan for the ARC of Book 5 in the DI Jamie Johansson series (book 8 in total) Quiet Wolf.

I have no words! Morgan has done it yet again. Another unputdownable book. Morgan has this way of pulling you in and getting you hooked from the very first word.

Loved the relationship between Jamie and Thorsen and seeing that grow over the course of this book.

I loved having some old favourites back throughout this book. I had been wondering how they were doing.

Ive said before will say again Jamie is definitely one of my favourite characters.

Thorsen has really grown on me too and I love him as a character. He’s the perfect match for Jamie. He cares for Jamie but can be tough when needed.

There were so many times I was on edge during this read and it had me up reading until the early hours.

The epilogue! Wow I did not expect that! Can’t wait to see what it brings for Jamie.

Let the countdown for the next instalment later in the year begin.

This is book 5 in the DI Jamie Johansson series and it’s another brilliant dark psychological read. I absolutely love this authors books and they near.y always feature in my top 20 books of the year; I’m pretty certain this one will be there. At the risk of annoying anyone with this oft repeated comment I really did find this almost unputdownable. I was quickly invested in the story and this classic Scandi Noir kept me reading all day until I finished it. As always it’s brilliantly written, fast paced and with a fabulous storyline.

Briefly, when Jamie gets a phone call from her former partner Wiik to say that his ex-wife has been in contact and her brother, his wife and child are missing Jamie and Thorson set off to to see if they can track them down. When they spot something suspicious they go to the nearest town, Etterange, to elicit help from the local police. They soon realise there is something seriously wrong and their investigations lead them to a place called The Farm. What they find there is beyond belief. Can they find the missing family? Or are they too late?

Jamie is a great character, clearly with trust issues, as she avoids getting close to anyone. However, her current partner Thorson seems to be breaking through that hard shell she has built around herself. As always parts of this book are quite dark and gory, but what we do see smatterings of is a slightly softer side to Jamie. Plenty of twists and turns and one really big surprise reveal as you near the end of the book. With a massive cliffhanger I am now desperate to read the next in the series, and as for the epilogue; wow! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book 5 in this brilliant DI Jamie Johansson series which gets darker with each one. I love Scandi Noir & these stories are all fantastic thrillers with a strong psychological element.

Jamie receives a phone call from her former partner, Wiik, who informs her that his ex-wife’s brother, wife & daughter have gone missing while on a family road trip. He asks if Jamie & Thorsen (her current partner) could investigate as the local police are not interested.

The pair set off unaware of what horrors lay ahead of them. They discover evidence of a car accident but no car & go to the nearest town in order to speak to the police themselves. When they get there, it is more than obvious all is not right & their investigations lead them to The Farm. A community like no other. A community where you don’t want to be. Is the missing family there?

I love Jamie for all her flaws &, in Thorsen, I think she has met her match. He understands her &, despite her protestations, wants to be there for her. Fast-paced, an easy writing style & enough gore to keep me happy, makes this another great read.

The epilogue came from nowhere & now I can’t wait for the next one. Highly recommended.

Morgan Greene has taken Di Jamie Johansson on a really trying story in which she is set up with a new partner Kjell Thorsen in what have as a new case involving a husband, wife and small girl found missing in a laboring town. After going there they found an interim police officer who was missing several immediate other police officers and had several missing keys. They however went to farm and found many people who let them follow along and showed them a church on the opposite shore where the said the missing couple were. Their boat was on the shore near the church and it was the only way to get there. Morgan takes us on various important sub stories where they found what was missing. If you read the story you'll find out what happened to the three missing people and what the farm was all about. I give Morgan Greene a lot of praise in this story because it is so far out there in describing the scenes with much realism and facts that some authors take for granted. I liked this book a lot and would recommend it if you like who-done-its.

This is another cracker from this author. This time Jamie and Thorsen head on a search for Wiik's sister in law and her family who seem to have disappeared. The local police department seem uninterested or just simply incompetent especially when it's clear to Jamie that they found thr tracks to prove the family's vehicle left the road.

Once again, the bleakness of the wintry countryside is quite vivid along with the hidden ongoing threat of the ever present wolves. Jamie and Thorsen encounter a cult-like crowd who live in a place known only as The Farm and it is clear that there is something unsavoury going on.

As usual, there is a lot of violence but this time we see a more softer and personal side to Jamie. Along with the constant twists, the ending was not something I saw coming and is a tantalising hook into the 3rd book in the trilogy which to be honest, can't come soon enough.

This is the first time in years that I was almost constantly scared while reading a book. Morgan Greene has managed to write a thriller series that had me literally chewing my nails and unable to go to sleep if I read it just before switching off the lights. I don’t scare easily but every chapter was nail biting and suspenseful. Jamie and her partner Thorsen decide to take a drive out to Etterange, a small border town, as a favour after a phone call from Wiik. A family on holiday went missing and he asked her to just check it out as the local police couldn’t find anything. They discover a crash site on the road near a place called The Farm. After arriving at the police station they very quickly realise that something is off with the inept 26 year old who is running the station and within a few hours of their investigation things turn hectic. I highly recommend Morgan’s books for anyone who likes Nordic Noir. I also hope that Netflix will make a series of Jamie Johansson soon!

Wow! Every single time I finish a Jamie Johansson book, I am always left wondering just how on earth Morgan Greene will top it, and every single time, he outdoes himself by creating masterpiece after masterpiece! I particularly enjoyed seeing a more vulnerable side to Jamie, who has been through so much and gone through one hell of journey. I also really enjoyed the growing partnership between Thorsen and Jamie, as he is not scared to call her out on things and shows her that it’s alright to be vulnerable and let your walls down sometimes. I cannot wait to see where there partnership goes, and where the next book, Ice Queen, will take us, as we were left on a bit of a cliff hanger! Until then, Quiet Wolf was a thrilling read, that at times made you feel uneasy and made you shudder, and at other moments, had me grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Highly recommend it and all of the Jamie Johansson books, this is easily one of my favourite book series!!

So far I have read every single book that Morgan Greene has written. All the DS Jamie Johansson books. With every one I keep feeling like that is the best one yet and Quiet Wolf has done it again. My first experience of this author was through Voracious Readers Only where I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review but after reading Bare Skin, the first of the Prequel books, I knew I had to keep going. As for Quiet Wolf, I just couldn’t put it down, I have read into the early hours night after night. I love the writing style, the depth of the characters and the nonstop ride of a storyline. I have said it before and will quite happily say it again Morgan Greene is most definitely one of my favourite authors.

Jamie grows as a person!

Despite the dark and morbid content, I liked this one more than the last, due to the growth of the characters and the relationship between them. Not sure about the epilogue, I haven't read the prequels so no clue if I'm meant to know what's going on.

ETA: I'm very confused about one specific character and have re read the ending to understand but there seems to be a plot hole with

Another great read

This was another great read from Morgan Greene. It's full of suspense action and intrigue with a great plot that pulls you along at a cracking pace. It reminded me somewhat of a cross between the X files and The Wicker man putting Jamie and her partner in all sorts of perilous situations. Putting them against a very dangerous and sadistic cult leader. The ending was a bit strange as I've not read any of the previous books which were based in the UK but I'm sure it will all become clear in the next instalment in this brilliant series. Now onto book 6.

Having read all the Jamie books so far and loving them all I can honestly say Quiet Wolf does not disappoint! It follows a more creepy feel like Dawn Chorus which makes it a gripping psychological thriller but with a fantastic fresh plot. I was hooked from the first page to the very last and absolutely flew through it within days. Thanks once again Morgan Greene for the ARC and as ever well done, cannot recommend these books enough!

“Quiet Wolf” by Morgan Greene is my first acquaintance with Jamie Johannson of the FBI. This book is excellent till it reaches the last 1/3 . Suddenly, you are bogged down in a never-ending scene of cops and robbers. Each chasing the other ad nauseam. After a point, I wearied of the circular chase, and gave up on the book, even as the last part was left. It was like the story suddenly got bogged down, and the flow got clogged.

3 Stars for the first part of the story.

I enjoyed this.

Dear Jamie isn't satisfied, although every one else is, until she feels it's finished.

Which of course puts her into situations in which she shouldn't be.

I thought parts of the story, particularly her actions, were a bit 'out there' and I hate hanging endings.

A good thriller, good characters, an odd story trying to get you on the edge of your seat, but

Which I will read

Another excellent page turning thriller in the Jamie Johansson series.

The book continues the development of the main character and her latest partner against a backdrop of some fairly dark and twisted goings on in a remote part of Sweden.

Looking forward to the next instalment...
