Orion and Safiyah have been best friends since the tenth grade—secretly in love with the other but too afraid to act on out of fear of rejection and messing up a good friendship. Attending the same college for three years, both Orion and Safiyah’s lives are turned upside down swiftly when her family uproots suddenly without a trace. Forcing Safiyah to leave not only school but her first love behind without a warning.

Despite the years and his best effort to erase her from his memory, Orion has never forgotten Safiyah. Living in a new city with his life on the upswing and his company on the fast track to international growth, Orion should be elated. However, an emptiness resides within him—his missing link. Attending his company’s annual New Year’s Eve Masquerade party, Orion lucks seem to turn around instantaneously, especially when he collides into a warm body. One that’s all too familiar.

A long-lost love. A lifelong companion. A lifetime of missed opportunities. A long-awaited reunion. Safiya and Orion were torn apart by uncontrollable events. Reuniting is by an unusual happenstance. Would one night of an unbridled web of passion bring them together for a lifetime? Or would the pain from their past be too great, ending their time together in heartbreak?

I am a reader, writer, blogger, daughter, sister, mentor, and friend. I'm a bit sarcastic and big on all things CULTURE. My mind is a bit twisted but it's fun there. I have decided that it's okay to share that side of me, through my stories. They are short spicy stories, build on instant connection, and give a happy ending, but always leave you wanting more.

Let’s Set the Mood Right Quick:

UnMasked: A Holiday Snack 2 by Dani Elle

Drink: Old Friend Cocktail

Music: Remember the Time by Michael Jackson

Safiya: If, “boss “B” energy,” was a person it would be Safiya. She rebuilt her life from scratch and came out on top.

Orion: If, “create your own lane,” was a person it would be Orion. He didn’t let anyone dictate how he moved.

This holiday short is book two in a series made up by multiple authors. The story is a super cute friends to lovers story with a scoop of sweet and a dash of nasty. These two show the beauty of rediscovering your love and that true friends are forever.

1.5 stars. It was overall entertaining. I mean… it was something to read for the new year. It is written in first person, which is something I usually don’t like, and sometimes the narrator speaks to to reader. When reading it I just thought of it as a story Simone was telling me over the phone, and that made my enjoy it more.

As a Jamaican, I also enjoyed the sprinkling Caribbean dialect throughout the book.

Good read!

Actually enjoyed this book. Orion and Safiyah reconnected after being apart for years. The love that they had for each other never failed, but his assistant, Kacey was so delusional that she kept them apart because she wanted him herself. He immediately fired Kacey and put a ring on Safiyah’s finger. Well written, flowed well and quite interesting.

Beautiful story

I truly enjoyed the story of Orion and Safayiah. Not being in each other lives in over 6 years and the love they had for each other didn’t change. I highly recommend this book.
