WHAT IT'S ABOUT He’s a flirt who won’t commit. She’s a broken-down country singer.
Caleb Black dances and flirts to his heart’s content—that’s all he’s capable of since his high-school sweetheart went off to chase her dreams. He’s made quite a name for himself and the horses at Black Rock Ranch, but watching his older brother fall in love shows him what a hole there is in his life.
Singing and writing music was all Jo Manning ever wanted. But when she breaks down under the relentless schedule and the pressure to produce—and when her manager runs off with all her money—the only place to heal is her family’s small ranch in the Colorado Rockies. Her parents need help, her daughter needs a place to call home, and Jo? She does not need help from the man she left behind.
MY TAKE I loved Adam's story in the first book of the series. There we got to see what a great guy Caleb was, so I've been looking forward to his happily ever after.
Well, evidently he was in love with a girl in high school. Her dream was to head to Nashville and pursue a career in singing. Caleb reluctantly let her go and wished her luck. But it's ten years later, and Jo's back supposedly to help her parents after her dad had a heart attack. Now, though, she's divorced with a 7-year-old son, and her life and career are a mess.
When Caleb's father asks him to help fix up Jo's father' house, Caleb agrees. But he has no idea Jo's there, so it's a shock when she opens the door. And promptly shuts it in his face.
Jo's dealing with a lot of stuff, much of it ruffling her pride. Seeing Caleb who knew her before when she was so full of dreams brings out her defensiveness. It doesn't help that he's hotter than ever.
So begins a rocky journey of old friends / sweethearts getting reacquainted. It's full of strife, sweet reminisces and rediscovery. Add in some misunderstandings, a life-threatening situation, and hot kisses, and you've got a great cowboy romance!
Readers who love clean, wholesome, ranch-based, second-chance, Christian threads stories interwoven with deep conflicts, real characters, and realistic situations… snatch up this series!
This was s very good story. The characters were very real and were very well written, and seemed real. No had a music career that was pretty much a disaster and her father was having a difficult time recovering from a health issue. She came to try to get her life and career straightened out. Of course her high school sweetheart comes into the picture, when his father asked him to go lend a hand with getting repairs, etc. done on the ranch. The story becomes even better as they both realize they are falling in love again, or that their love had never died after all, and they both have to deal with huge decisions that seem nearly impossible. I believe anyone ho likes a good, clean romance would fully enjoy this book!it's
Caleb and Jo were childhood sweethearts. When her parents thought she was too young to be married as soon as she graduated she set off for Nashville to make it big with her music. Caleb stayed at Black Rock Ranch becoming a horse trainer. After 10 years Jo has come home to help her parents while her dad heals from a heart attack and make some major decisions of her own. Will she and Caleb be able to find a second chance at love?
Resisting the Rancher is a sweet, heartwarming, second chance romance for Jo and Caleb. This well written book shows how Jo will have to heal from being betrayed and beaten up by her stardom. Caleb, Jo's daughter, Jo's family and being home all help with the healing. Caleb needs to learn to communicate rather than jump to conclusions. I could not put the book down. This is a great romance.
This is a wonderful read that is full of emotions. Jo and Caleb's story is a sweet heartwarming second chance romance that will keep you turning the pages. This is great read that you don't want to miss. I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write q review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Lots of twists and turns for the couple, from Caleb getting burned, his horse getting hurt to Jo deciding if she is going to give up her singing career. I cried n places and laughed in others. I strongly recommend this book and series to everyone.
Great story of second chance love. Mental health concerns were addressed in a very real way. Consequences of poor decisions and the weight of decisions impacting the future was real too. Facing losing something or someone important is the impetus to action for all of us, these characters, too. It was great to see the development of this beautiful story. I really enjoyed it.

Loved the story and especially loved that the author was familiar with horses. I love Westerns but sometimes the authors know nothing about horses. Loved the spiritual parts, shuttle but there.
I liked how real the story felt. My heart went out to Jo and the things she struggled with. I especially liked the conversation she and her dad had by the fence. Caleb was man enough to be vulnerable with Jo. I cannot wait to see how it goes with Micah.
Boy Jen ,you sure did a wonderful job on Celeb and Jo's story. I sure love it. The storyline was incredible and interesting and all the characters were believable and heartfelt.
I am so thankful I found this series. The older I get, the more picky I get with the books I read. I want to make that time enjoyable and uplifting and this series certainly is. Ready for Micah’s story.
Loved Caleb and Jo's story. The characters are well written and likeable. Both families had struggles to overcome and I can't wait for the next in series.
Two neighboring ranchers with a past history have a lot of tough situations to work through. They try to navigate issues as they learn about each other.
Caleb - the flirty brother whose heart is his own. Or so he thinks. Enter Jo - the one woman he loved and lost. Can they find that love again? A great book!!!
Jo was a music star on the rode always. He still loved Jo even though she had married and had a little boy Ethan. Long story short, you gotta read this awesome book.
Be careful what you wish for. Jo Manning thought singing and music was the life she wanted, but then the reality of tours, pressure from fans, pressure from record company and a dishonest manager makes life more difficult. I will admit to not understand why Jo thought an ex-husband would be a good idea to keep as a manager but we all live and learn. Jen Peters has again drawn us into the Black family and involved us in their lives. Caleb has a dream but unfortunately it includes Jo. I enjoyed this book.
