After a teen pregnancy, William vowed to stay by Emilie's side throughout. He done the right thing. Marriage, a roof over their heads and a steady job. Twenty years later once their children had left home to start their new adventures, Emilie and William had to get used to it being just them. A lot of time had passed since it was just the two of them. They were both different people and both wanted different things.
After Emilie had doubts, William took her for a week away in the Maldives to see if they could rekindle their relationship, or was it just too late?

I loved this second chance novella. William and Emilie were so sweet together, and getting a glimpse into their past along with the preset was the icing on the cake. Now, I need more after that awesome ending! A fabulous 5 stars!
Review Ashlee's writing is so easy to get along with. This most recent book is a novella so it's short but that doesn't stop it being beautiful.
I think as life goes on we all get comfortable in our day to day comings and goings and it just reinforces that friendships and relationships still need to be worked on regardless to how long it's been.
A beautiful read from a brilliant author. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow. Ashlee can seriously write any story that comes to her mind, and she does it flawlessly with superb execution. Rekindle Us is a second chance romance about a couple who have fallen short in their marriage (no cheating, just taking what they had for granted). It’s a really short novella – about 20k words – and only took me about an hour or so to read.
Emilie is such an admirable character. She got pregnant young and ever since then she’s felt lost in who she is as a person. She knows that things have been off and now that the kids are adults and moved out, she realizes that this marriage isn’t what she wants anymore. It takes a lot of strength to leave a relationship – especially a marriage that you’ve been in for twenty years – so for her to finally put her happiness above everything else was an admirable thing to do. Her strength is inspiring.
William is a hard worker. He went into the family business, provided a life for his family, and got caught up in the perfect lifestyle that he forgot who he was living and providing for – his wife, Emilie. The way that he fights for her is nothing short of amazing. He’s not ready to give up on the two of them and he makes that very clear.
This story is absolutely beautiful. It shows the trials and struggles of what can happen in a marriage when you stop putting each other first. It shows that although one person chooses to leave, it takes two people to want to put in the work to stay. This novella is short, but it’s the perfect balance of emotional and heartbreakingly beautiful. And although it may be a novella, it has the perfect amount of backstory, what’s going on in the present, and a satisfying ending.
I highly recommend this novella!
***I received this as an ARC for my honest review***
this was a really cute second chance novella which followed a married couple, emilie and william, who had fallen out of love as they grew older after a teen pregnancy. Now the children are 18 and moving out leaving emilie as a stay at home mum and william a workaholic, emilie feels like they should break up but despite william always choosing work hates this idea and books a weekend away to the maldives to rekindle their marriage. It made me really appreciate my partner and hope i never end up in the situation of needing to be rekindled.
This short but deeply emotional second-chance novella completely stole my heart. 🥹
The story follows Emilie and William, a couple who built their entire life together after a teen pregnancy — marriage, family, responsibility… the whole “doing the right thing” package. But twenty years later, when their children leave home and it’s finally just the two of them again, they realize they’re no longer the same people they once were. And honestly? That premise alone had me hooked.
I loved how raw and real their relationship felt. The quiet distance, the doubts, the longing to reconnect — it all felt so genuine and relatable. Watching William take Emilie away to the Maldives to try and rekindle what they once had was both romantic and emotional, and it really made me reflect on how love evolves over time.
For such a short read, this packed so much feeling. It was tender, heartfelt, and beautifully written. And can we talk about that little surprise at the end?! I absolutely loved it — the perfect finishing touch. 💫
If you enjoy emotional second-chance romance, mature relationships, and stories about rediscovering love, this one is definitely worth picking up.
Honestly this book was beyond great, when you get married you don’t think of all the changes that come with life, kids and work. You get lost in the daily chores and the one core relationship gets lost in the shuffle.
It tells the struggle that Emilie has and not feeling wanted anymore and the changes she’s willing to make to make herself happy once again.
William is just going through the motions and not realizing that life passed him by, he may be an amazing father to there twins but work and the day to day have pushed his wife to the back burner an he didn’t realize it 18 years later.
Once things come to a crashing halt he gets a eye opener and he’s going to do anything he can to make sure the love of his life knows how important she is to him.
This is a quick read and will make your heart happy, especially if you have been married for a while sometimes you just need a reminder in the end it’s the two of you that started the journey and sometimes you need to Rekindle That!
* I received this book as an arc for my honest review.
Once again Ashlee floors with with her writing!!! first off thank you to Ashlee for sending me this ARC I loved every minute. This is a sweet, heartwarming, second chance romance novella. Emilie and William met in high school after a teen pregnancy and 20 years of marriage Emilie feels miles apart from her husband but William isn't ready to give up. Even tho this was a short read I found myself so invested and so emotional, my heart ached for Emilie and how neglected she felt. Even tho I was mad at William for not making an effort I couldn't help but love him because the idea of losing his wife made him finally open his eyes and you can see he genuinely loves Emilie just as much as he did in high school. I loved the realness of this story how it can we can easily lose ourselves in life and forget that we need to make time for each other no matter what. I haven't read a lot of second chance romance but after this I need more! honestly if you want a quick heartwarming second chance romance read this you won't regret it!!
Love that this was a quick read and love reading anything written by Ashlee rose and I liked that this story was about William and Emilia and being together since there were sixteen and they twins called Asher and Alana and they are going to there new chapters in the life and Emilia feeling lost without her kids and I like that we get to see William and Emilia in the past when they were sixteen and going on dates and I love that William wanted to fix his marriage with Emilia and not give up on what they have even though he hasn’t shown her the love she deserves and I love the ending when they go on holiday together just the two of them and rekindle there marriage answers it does work and she ends up pregnant again in the end and love that Emilia would do anything for her kids and love that William calls Emilia tink in the book and just love that this book was a quick and easy read

When life gets too comfortable, do you try to shake it up or throw in the towel? That is exactly what Emilie is dealing with when it comes to her life. She has been given so much as a mom and wife, but as the twins are getting ready to leave the nest for University it comes barreling down on her that she is a passing star in the night. Her husband is a successful lawyer who made partner, but he is working late and out golfing. Once the twins are gone, what will Emilie do with her time. Getting pregnant at 18 and having such a beautiful marriage seemed like her new dream and though life is great is it enough? When William forgets an important event, Emilie decides to walk away. The love she has for William doesn’t seem enough to hold them together.
I loved this sweet novella. It was perfect with a few tears and so much love.
What to say about this book other than its the perfect novella on rekindling love.
After 2 kids and almost 20 years of marriage sometime life just gets in the way and you forget to show the person you love that you do in fact love them.
I loved that there was no cheating in this book. It was all around a beautiful telling for finding love with your person again.
This story was absolutely beautiful. Ashlee Rose has done it again and this time with 20k words.
You meet Emilie who you instantly fall in love with. And William who even though has his flaws ( which they both have flaws) he refuses to give up on his forever love.
Loved this story. Instead of the hurdles to actually get together and be the ‘end game’ couple and live happily ever after this novella was about a couple that have spent the last 18 years together after finding each other as teenagers. It showed the struggles of marriage and how you can take the small things for granted. Once I had finished it I hugged my husband a bit tighter felt grateful to have him and it also serves as a reminder that if you truly love each other you can fight through it and get back to how you used to be if you both communicate and put the effort in
Now this was such an emotional and touching Novella, Rose manages to entrance us right from the beginning with this storyline. It seriously gives you the feels right off the bat, and the emotional connection you feel for Emilie (MFC) grows stronger the faster you are page-turning and chapter reading to the next. I was totally invested four chapters in, and no one...and I do mean no one could disturb me until I finished. Superb, simply Superb!!
A short sweet novella about a couple finding their love for each other again. After a teen pregnancy Emilie and William stay together but once their twins are all grown up they have to be just them again after so long. It was cute and sweet and the perfect little filler inbetween books. I hope we see some more short novellas from Ms Rose!
This was such a sweet read. I really loved it. It was light hearted and so relatable. This broke me out of a bit of a book slump. I would love to read more about William and Emilie, a wee high school romance story or how the navigate this next chapter would be such a good read! Ashlee you are incredible!
It’s us against the world tink!! I fell head over heels for William and how he knew at such a young age she was going to be his forever. This book talk about what it feels like to be together so long. How it feel like your falling out of love but that isn’t always the case sometimes you just have to remember why you fell in love in the first place.
A great little novella about rekindling a passion of love for each other.. 20 years on with 2 kids and a near seperation, these 2 head out on a beautiful holiday to rekindle their love an that they did!
Brilliant as always!

What an absolutely amazing novella. The story is about a couple with grown children who are ships passing in the night. But after 20 years together can they rekindle the love before it’s too late. I literally felt every emotion in this story.
This was short and sweet, it’s beautiful to see the way that william wants to hold on with both hands and not let go. They have had there whole relationship filled with their children and now they need to work out how to just be them again. I love them
This was such a sweet novella. This is a reminder for all of us who have been married a long time that even though things go stagnant, it doesn't mean it should end and that it can be rekindled as in this story! It's us against the world Tink!!
The romance between William and Emilie was what happens when you are married for so long and with something unexpected happens can they rekindle the romance and love they had for each that’s what I love about this story.
Cute short 2nd chance romance novella. Was worried William was going to turn out to be an asshole who was going to be tricking Emilie with the first date but was pleasantly surprised! Captures realistic relationship aspects.
Being in a 10+ year relationship with a child myself, I related to some of the feelings our fmc was going through so this book was a lot more realistic to read than others, it was beautifully written and just goes to show you should never give up on the ones we love 🩷
Ashlee wrote a book on something that marriages deal with sometimes. Most couples lose their spark, lose themselves, and question their marriage. This was story about reconnecting.
