Poppies

Rate this book
Poppies is a book of poetry that details one woman's journey through war, loss, and change. It's about death, and of people, of memories, of identity. It's about dying men and women, in love and in war and in family. It's about how grief is just another way to love; loss brings people together and frees us to love more fiercely. --------- Poppies is the debut collection from poet, Amy Sexauer.

One of the best collections of poetry that I’ve read in a very long time. It’s easy to write poetry, start with a phrase, make it rhyme and show your friends. Amy Sexauer writes poetry that lobs your head off and leaves you sitting in a dark room thinking about every emotion you have ever felt. I look forward to reading more of her work.

As a fellow female serving, I really connected with these poems. They are honest and raw and wonderful.

Amy bares her soul and scars in this stark yet heart-filled collection (much of which is her time in the military).
