It took me a good minute to get into New Year, New Ci. Honestly, I almost DNF this book at least twice. Cienna was such a dislikeable character. For a 34-year-old, she was overly dramatic and entirely too immature for my taste. The amount of crying this chic did annoyed TF out me. In the beginning, I completely understood her emotional breakdown. Between losing her job and the unexpected betrayal by two people she trusted, Cienna was more than entitled to crawl into a dark hole and sit with her feelings. But, it just seemed like she reveled in her emotional distress. Cienna required way too much hand holding and there there for me. Her woe is me attitude was exhausting. She was unnecessarily a lot. Curt was a breath of fresh air. He had the patience of Job because, I don’t know how he put up with Cienna. But, the heart wants what the heart wants and Curt’s heart wanted Cienna. As much as I disliked her, Cienna and Curt were perfect together. He was exactly what she needed to help her balance her neuroses. I was only too happy when she finally found her footing and got her life together. I loved, loved, loved Christine. She's the BFF we all deserve. Christine had no problem doling out tough love and telling Cienna when she was doing the most. New Year, New Ci didn't quite give what I was expecting but, it was still a decent enough read. The heroine was a little underwhelming but, overall, I’d still recommend it.
I can always count on this author to give you sexy yet funny stories that are relatable. I wasn't sure what happened at the beginning of the story but it became clear as you continue. Curt was the man from the onset and his care and adoration for Ci were genuine. Ci went through a lot yet her lemons became her lemonade as it pushed into her destined place in life. I really enjoyed this book.
This book played with my emotions because I was hottttt about how Ci was being treated and even more bothered by her allowing her wrong doers to see her sweat. But all in all, this was a great story about a woman taking the time to heal from a bad break up and not doing that alone. The least expected showed her how love is supposed to be. The growth was lovely and Curt was a man who didn’t have time for games. 💕💕💕
This was an excellent well written story. Ci hit rock bottom in the beginning of the book. The author did such a great job with the build up of Ci. The evolution was beautiful to see. I loved the relationship between Curt and Ci. He was exactly what she needed. She finally had the man, friend group and profession that was meant for her.
Whew. Ok so Ci low key got on my nerves, but as a woman, I get it. Curt was definitely a man’s man cause baby he got Cienna together a few times about her actions and reactions to his “sister” and her “situation”. I’m glad Ci had real people in her life though. And she owed Candace a 3rd ass whooping 🤷🏾♀️
This was decent read, good length book. I'll start by saying I've never taken issue with anything this author has written in the several books I've read from her catalogue.
I would've given it a 4 rating, if not for the Hobby Lobby mention. Knowing what we know about hobby lobby why have the character shop there and have them say they were shopping there "despite their questionable practices". It's said as if it's something that can be looked over. There's not really a question about their practices, what they do is wrong. Why even give it a mention? The author could've had the character go to Target, TJ Maxx, IKEA, Home Goods, a thrift store, or a fictitious store. It was completely unnecessary and not unique to the story so the author literally could've put anything else in it's place. That makes we wonder where this author stands on particular issues since she was compelled to put Hobby Lobby in her book. Does she give her dollars to a company that engages in hateful practices? I know every company in general sucks and we can literally find fault with every place we shop on race/gender related issues, but some are far worse than others and I just don't think it was worth the mention here, especially the way it was mentioned.
This is the first I've seen of this type of message from this author in her books so I'm going to keep a watchful eye. Don't let a company like that take up any degree of space on your pages when that same company would probably never give you the time of day. Give that same energy.
i honestly could NOT have chosen a better book to start the year with. new year new ci was an excellent story on how to deal with your life after it has completely fallen upside down, as well as about new beginnings & self-reflection. this book probably has some of the best familial & platonic friendships ever like i am obsessed with each individual in cienna‘s lives: her mum who is awfully supportive of her but never lets up with being real and calling her out on her bs while being HILARIOUS doing so. her best friend steen who is so ridiculous but you can‘t help but love her & just the way she rides for ci.. i need steen in my life! but also her stepfather who is so attentive & caring. not to mention the relationship between her & curt.. like wow! him quoting musiq soulchild had me SWOONING? i love this couple so much? i just love everything about this book, go pick it up please <3
Cienna, my girl went through it, under it, and over it in this read. When I say I wanted to lay hands for her, I wanted to mf’ing lay hands for her!!! Violence is never the answer, except in this case! Ok, I said what I said.. anywho… This one takes you on a journey with Ci. Through pain, anger, self doubt, resignations, and then healing. I give it to Ms. Falls for conveying all of those feelings in this story.
Curt was everything! Like, that man was just waiting for the one and blessed that Ci was, it was her. His character was an enigma. At first he came across as just a friendly dude with hella jokes, when in fact he was the strong silent type with a tenderness reserved for special people. What a book bae 🥰
I honestly can say that I loved everything about this book. Cienna, though a little weepy say times lol, was so realistic. I found myself in her character more often than not. I also loved the relationship she had with her the friends and family. Then there's Curt. Just a truly refreshing male character. He was firm, but not pushy. Loving but not overly mushy. Excellent communicator. I loved how he met her where she was and then bolstered her into the stratosphere. I am going to miss these characters, I really am. I honestly didn't want it to end. Maybe we'll get to see them again. Overall, great job Ms. Fails!!!!
This was an interesting read for me because I enjoyed the story, but not the characters. I found myself chuckling numerous times as I read it. I loved how Cienna “reclaimed her time”. Unfortunately, I didn’t like Cienna. She was too dramatic for me. It came off as immature. Curt was super charming and witty. Yet, I didn’t find him to be sexy at all. Despite the characters being underwhelming for me, I did enjoy watching their stories unfold.
The perfect read for the new year. Simple and cute. I adored Curt and the way he showed up for Ci without any pressure. He was himself, he was honest and most importantly patient with her.
Cienna was a realistic character going through big changes all at once. I liked her vulnerability and I loved the way her step father Theo came to her rescue. The mother daughter relationship was on point too!
This is a good friends to lovers journey. Ci needed help getting past a prior relationship and Curt was the perfect man for the job! The pacing of the journey was perfect. The dialogue was humorous and relatable. The sexual chemistry was smoking hot. This was fun and delightful. I enjoyed from beginning to end. This was a good first read for my new year.
This was a great new year story. Cienna's life crashed and burned both professionally and personally on New Year's eve sending her into a depressive state. After she is forced to take stock of her life by her mother she slowly starts to rebuild her life finding a new career and a new man in Curt. The year ahead for Curt and Ciemna was filled with bumps, curve balls, as well as fun, passion and good times. A good read from Nicole Falls.
Great story by NF! CiCi got on my nerves just a little a few times (no too badly) because she was in her head too much and was doing some self-sabotage, but she pulled it together. Curt was a real one because not only did he become a great boyfriend for her, he was just a great friend in general who reignited her passion for interior design. She wouldn't have come to the conclusion to jump back into that (at least not right away), if he hadn't reminded her and let her design his home.
It was a good story and growth captured in the setting of a year.

I'mma have to get on over to the Patreon if Nicky Nic over there writing like this. Cienna and Curt were everything! Ci was doing absolutely too much overthinking and second guessing at times, but just shy of getting on my nerves, but Curt was steadfast and proved his love for ya girl.
I loved this book! Cienna got hit with some hard blows but her family and friends helped her bounce back even better. She thrived in the new year and didn’t allow those blows to keep her down. Her journey was such an inspiration of not allowing our bad moments to define us or keep us down and I love to see it.
Another great Nicole Falls book. Ci started things off in the worse way but what a difference a year makes.
There was a slight format issue where some sections weren’t spaced properly and I was completely thrown off that it was a new day or topic bc the sentence just followed the other sentences in the paragraph.
this could have been 30-50% shorter. I enjoyed the lead characters, their support network and the story overall. But there were was a lot going on and it felt overly descriptive with too many people and bits of information that didn’t really add anything to the story that was unfolding. I usually enjoy this authors books but this was just ok for me.
This is a book that takes you through hurt, betrayal, love, and healing. The hurt may not go away but time can lessen it. I’m glad Ci finally moved passed everything. I wanted to hear more about here interior decorating and how she evolved
Ci took all of the mess thrown her way and made it stepping stones to level up. Curt was the perfect man to aid her in her upgrades. This book was full of characters that I loved as well! Awesome read!
I’ve got nothing but smiles and the good old adage: ‘thank God for growth!’ There were some moments that I was worried about our girl but her supporters?! 10/10! Highly recommend this book!
This is very new for me from you and i gotta say you nailed it. It can definitely become a series to remember if you want to keep up with them. Plenty to play off of also. Great read and i savored this read until i had to finish it.
Perfect time of the year to enjoy this story of a new start for Cienna. She had a crazy start to the year but, as they say, things happen for a reason. Curt was a great guy and I enjoyed the family and friends as well.
We all find ourselves taking what we can get but not feeling like we have reached our destiny. Take the journey of betrayal, finding love in the least expected place, and fulfilling your potential with Cienna.
I really loved this book. Realistic let downs. Meltdowns, and break downs. Every thing was just the way I like it. Sometimes we hold on to Things we were never meant to hold on to. So good to know what could be waiting.
I see what the author did with this story. It was engaging, thoughtful, and showed us what real love looks like in a romantic tale. One year made a considerable difference with two friends and the man in the mix.
I have read Nicole Falls entire catalog and this one is hands down my favorite!! New Ci grew and changed so much. It was great taking the journey with her.
