Needed: One dedicated, loving, protective, Dominant owner. A forever home is my dearest wish. Will do whatever it takes to become your perfect "pet." Wanted: One playful, adventurous, sexy, submissive "puppy.”A forever “pet” is my deep desire. As long as the “pet” isn't too curious ... and always stays away from the garden.
Cole Denton is an ocean lover who finds joy in almost all physical activities. He is especially passionate about baseball and surfing, indulging in them every chance he gets.
His other passion is writing. It began at a young age and followed him through to his time at a university in SoCal where he majored in screenwriting.
After moving to Sin City, Cole has put his knowledge and talent as a writer to work by pursuing a career as a dark fiction author. Cole is enjoying testing his kinky side, in pursuit of all things pleasurable.
Because this book started off exploring a fairly new to me kïñk and while it’s not my thing exploration into new things through books is always something to be happy about. But it took turns. With the trail of bodies heavy in the front end and then nothing at all substantive until the last page. I expected a lot more and I was ultimately disappointed. There was huge gaps in time where the relationship happened and then we just jumped to mundane day to day things. But the last page delivered just a bit.
I was awestruck when I read Bone Garden. Not because I was surprised at how freaking amazing it is…Cole Denton is a naturally gifted writer, but because he opened a whole new taboo world up to me that I got totally enthralled in. The idea of human pet play, was something I had never given much, if any thought to at all before. Denton weaves authentic details about the human pet lifestyle into the story as he tells it so it was able to play out in my head easily as I read. Bone Garden is a very dark and taboo story. It’s heavy with tragedy, loss, sexy time scenes and of course love. The characters, the storyline, the eroticism…all of the emotions it stirred in me - there is nothing I did not love about Bone Garden. Heed the trigger warnings and as long as you’re good with those, open your mind, be a good pup and enjoy! Highly recommended.
Cole never ceases to amaze me with his brilliant writing! Although this is a taboo and very erotic subject, the details and emotions he puts into his stories had me feeling for the characters from the very beginning. He has everything here; devastation, tragedy, hope, love and of course, hot sexy scenes! Definitely recommend if you are not afraid of triggers and being open minded.
1/5 - Is this supposed to be a romance book? horror book? What is this supposed to be? Dark Romance doesn’t fit imo.
This could have been a crazy good story. The topic of heavy pet play within the BDSM community isn’t explored much in fictional writing - especially in the Romance genre. There were so many opportunities to show the pet play community. To dig into Dusty’s head and learn all the when, where, what, how’s of his intro into this space of kink. Same with Gabe, how did he get into being a pet owner? From the book it comes off as just sex play. Pet play isn’t just that there’s so much more involved.
As for Gabe. There could’ve… should’ve have been more than being an alcoholic as a reason for killing two people and burying them in his backyard.
The perfect pet. This part of the story took a hard turn into body modification. That whole part of the book was comical and annoying.
Technically speaking, there’s a lot of telling. The pacing is hectic. The prose is basic which is why there’s telling instead of showing. The book is lopsided - heavy conflict in act 1, then nothing throughout act 2 and 3.
The 1* is for the last paragraph.

Okay I am conflicted and do not know how best to correctly express my feelings for a review. I will state this a very good read. Page turner even. However I guess my confusion is, I expected this story to be menacing, nefarious, vindictive, with all the hype and description. The clever, intelligent, manipulative, wiley serial killer designing strategic plot, revenge, the whole works. I blame this misinterpretation on reading many true crimes stories. Although there is an undertone of menace from the killer, it isn't what you expect. His kills are actually accidents yet he hides the bodies and even mourns them. So feelings, especially regret, depression and sadness. A different twist from what I've read. I actually liked it. Its different. It does make me suspicious about this couple's future. All I know is, am I excited to promote this story? Absolutely! Am I recommending this story to others? Perhaps. Like I said it is different. So I advise go into this story with no expectations.
Bone Garden is another amazing read by Cole Denton. This is a well-told and well-paced story. It was addictive. I have to admit when it comes to a lot of taboo subjects I'm naive (sheltered life?). However, Cole writes this story in such a way that by the end of it I had a better grasp of the subject. I love his descriptive way of writing. I started Bone Garden late at night. It piqued my interest and the next day, during work breaks and lunch, I continued to read and found it hard to stop. Unputdownable! Cole is never afraid to write about taboo subjects and never holds back, which is what I want and readers deserve. This story is suspenseful and filled with sizzling, steamy, romantic sex scenes. As for the main characters, likeable with enduring qualities.
As with previous stories, Cole inserts "Easter Eggs" which always make me smile.
And this is how you take a taboo never talked about kink and turn it into gold! Holy shitake mushrooms, I'm not sure what I was expecting with this book but that wasn't it. My mind was blown as my eyes were opened and I could not get enough. I soaked up everything this book had to offer and was slightly mad when it ended. (But that could be said about just about every book I read from Mr. Denton.) Bone Garden was like no other book I've read before. I have to admit I was starting to get worried about how things were going to go for sweet Dusty after reading the beginnings of this book. However, Dusty and his owner (or forever friend--freaking adorable!) were the cutest couple ever! They had me all swoony and smiley while I read about their bond and lover for one another. I loved this story and everything it had to offer!
Although the book didn't take the dark turn that I expected. It was still good. From the hype, I thought it was going to make me a bit nervous to read... which it did, cause you never know what to expect from Cole, but it didn't take that plunge that I thought it was ... which was a good thing. Gabe was not an evil person, he just made mistakes, which caused mishaps for others, lol. He really cared about the people he became involved with and really wanted to love. Dusty just wanted a forever home with his master. I hated what happened to him, but without that, he would have never found Gabe. I was worried about that changes Dusty was going to make, but he just kept wanting to please Gabe. They really loved each other, growing all the time in their relationship. The end kind of left me with a gasp... now I need to know it there more to this story???
In Bone Garden, Cole Denton takes you into the world of pet play kink and two characters who are searching for their perfect matches. Gabe is discouraged having had a couple of failed relationships with other 24/7 pets. Dusty is an enthusiastic pup, desperate for someone to give him a chance to show what a perfect pet he can be. Finally finding happiness in each other, Gabe and Dusty decide to take things a step further in making Dusty the “perfect” pet. As always, Cole Denton’s writing had me feeling the character’s desperation and sadness, as well as their joy and love for each other. In this darkly erotic tale of finding one’s forever friend, there’s only one rule…don’t go in the garden!
Not what I was expecting......but another brilliant book 🙂❤
When I read Cole Dentons books I never go In with my eyes closed because you never know what you are about to read and by God this is another brilliant book. I never realised that human pet play was a kink but the way Cole describes it in this book you get an idea in your head of how it may play out. The characters, well I just love Dusty he's a special one, Gabe I'm still on the fence for he's not quite won me over just yet. But Jonathan well I was welling up and nearly shouting at my tablet for him 🥺🥺. This book is a taboo story and could be triggers for some people so just bare that in mind when you venture into Bone Garden Another fantastic book Mr Cole Denton ❤🙂
I’m so excited that the Deaths Blooms World has expanded and I get to hang with my buddy Grey again! This book will not be for everyone, BUT if you have an open mind and love all things crazy and taboo, then you will love this book. I was introduced to a whole new world while reading this. It took me places I never imagined or dreamed existed and that’s what makes Denton such an amazing author and this book such a great read! Open your mind and give it a try!
Wow, just wow. I have to say this had a very interesting subject matter. I had no idea of how people want so badly to be treated as a pet. Such an intriguing story. You see how two people search for their perfect person, and what lengths they would go to. The desire to be loved by a special someone, is something everyone wants. Bone Garden had me completely captivated!
Cole has a way with a story and dark and taboo subjects that is not only erotic but very touching. In Bone Garden he does what he does best, he creates characters that you become attached too and root for their HEA. He gives so much respect and knowledge in the different Kinks he writes and human pets is no different. Another great book by Cole Denton, who has fast become one of my favorite authors.
Another well written intriguing novel by Cole Denton. I had no idea of these kinds of body alterations. All Dusty wanted was a forever home with master that loved him. After battling some demons of his own Gabe is ready for a new pet to play with and take home. To find out what happens when Gabe takes Dusty home you'll have to read the book for yourself. The open minded won't be disappointed.
This kink really isn’t my thing but, putting the kink to one side, I was curious and intrigued to know what was going to happen so carried on reading. I didn’t expect anything on par with Alfred Hitchcock but I did expect something. Yet here was nothing. It just ended up being fetish kink taken too far in my opinion. First book I’ve read from this author and the last. Not one for me.
This isn't really my type of kink to read. In fact I've read a couple and just couldn't do it. But this book... Cole is an amazing writer, that's all I can say because before I knew it I was sucked into this story and I totally enjoyed every word. The power play, the dynamic of these two. Drama, and some hard lessons for both. But love the way it blended into the Bloom world. So like me even if this isn't necessarily your thing, give it a shot. Highly recommend.
Highly 👍🔥Recommend-Different but you won’t regret it
I have rated this book 4.5 Stars. Although I don’t normally read books in this category (LGBTQ+ and “pet play” fetish’s), I was really captivated by the story and the love the main characters shared was beautiful. The author’s depth of knowledge in “pet play”was mind blowing 🤯!!! I have a whole new level of respect and understanding of the wide range of sexual preferences especially those that are considered taboo.
I have been a fan of the author since his very first book, Forged. It's been a while since I have picked up a book and stayed interested. This book definitely grabbed my attention and then some! One of the characters, Gabe is such a wonderful loving man who just pulled at my heart. Cole has created such a great set of characters and the storyline is non-stop unpredictable. In a book dry spell? This book will help you!
Wow!!! I had no idea what to expect going into this book. I did read Death Blooms first, but the plot of this book was different. I LOVE Dusty so much. I've never read this particular kink before so I learned quite a bit. It is an emotional book for sure but still pulls off adorable and hot at the same time. PERFECTION!
Another amazing story by Cole Denton. Dusty like going to the “The Pound”. All he wanted was to find his forever friend. His last time there, he ended up going through a devastating event with some college students. Lucky for him Gabe found him and took care of him. Gabe and Dusty clicked and ended being “ forever friends” with the biggest love for each other. Adult content and situations.
"When you can't find the perfect pet you make one" Bone garden isn't your average read. Puppy play isn't somthing that I've ever read before but I felt that it had good plot development and characters that I enjoyed getting to know. This book may not be for everyone. I gave it a shot and wasn't disappointed.
Bone garden is what it says. Gabe wants a forever puppy but he has issues. Dusty wants a forever but is waiting and waiting. Until. This dark and taboe story captured my heart. I have fallen I love with Dusty . Dusty was easy to fall in love with Gabe is still on the bench he is a good person but did some not so good things . Can’t wait for their next story.
Wiggle Tail I'm happy another amazing story by Cole Denton Bone garden brilliant I love Dusty just want to hug and pat him all-day But Gabe will he interesting need more of him to good to be true The end omg please say another book, Cole Another 5 stars
