**This is an updated version of my previous book, The Rule of 5. It’s no secret that kids are sicker than ever before. Many of us are aware and see the need for change, but knowing and doing are two different things. And if life wasn’t stressful enough already, the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged our ability to adapt, to communicate, and to parent. A panic about infection and the strength of the immune system has set in. Our search for answers has intensified. With so much information out there, many of us have become confused about what action to take. Fret no more. In this book, I outline simple actionable steps to boost your family’s immune system and protect your children from chronic disease and viral illness.
We cover topics ranging from picky eating to guides on purchasing eggs or poultry to which sunscreens or toothpastes contain the least toxins. Each chapter provides clear information and advice that you can implement in your family today.
This was a super quick and informative read. The author has lots of great breakdowns on labels and ingredients and I can see myself even bringing it to the store to use as a reference. I bought this book out of desperation coming out of cold and flu season wanting to make sure I was doing everything in my power to prevent the never ending sniffles x3. Since reading it I’ve become even more intentional about maximizing plant intake and buying organic whenever possible.
I also like that the author included specific brands she recommends and where to buy certain things. It was all very straightforward and practical.
That being said, I think that fully implementing this book in my home would lead to some major “almond mom” behaviors and a negative relationship around food for me and my kids. I’ll take the helpful info on eggs and how much omega-3 my kids need and leave “send them to bed without dinner for disrespecting the chef” behind.
I quickly followed this book up with “Fat Talk” which is the other end of the spectrum on this topic with the hopes of balancing things out.
This book was wonderful! So helpful not only as a parent but as someone wanting to live a more “natural” life. Dr.Ana Marie Temple combines so much time and research into this book, all to make it easier to put into “action.”
If you need a deep starting place on how to live a cleaner more natural life- this is the book for you. With her easy to understanding writing, and the way she captures the “5” points at the end of each chapter this books helps you take a huge amount of information; and turn it into action.
As a mom it’s so nice to have read something and been affirmed in the choices my family has made, to live cleaner. As well as an insight into what next steps I can take!
Highly recommend this book- as well as her Instagram page!
Very simple and down to earth, quick read! Highly recommend for any parent. It felt like I was just sitting down and having a conversation with my pediatrician and hearing her talk about all her research. It was so affirming and relieving to hear a pediatrician talk about things I’ve researched for years now but always got pushback from my local pediatricians. Thank you, Dr. Temple, for taking the time to research all this information and then gather it together in a concise, easy to read and follow book!
practical ways to keep your family healthy and boost immunity
This book is so timely for where we are as a culture today in the US and the entire world. The 5 pillars are essential in terms of raising healthy kids and boosting immunity. Can’t recommend highly enough. A must read!
What a great, informative book in this world of very overwhelming information when trying to make sure you and your family live a healthy life. Thank you so much for making this easier with well organized info which is totally doable. I love her social media info as well. Highly recommend!
An easy introductory guide on healthy living hacks. If you are just getting started, this would be great for you. The author keeps things simple and easy to implement. She uses her own family's transition to healthier living to show you how to start and also to laugh about the challenges. If you want something in depth, this isn't it. I'll be keeping her avoid lists and recommendations handy!
As hard as it is to hear how much things have changed in nutrition and toxic loads since I was a child, it gives me a starting off point to figure out root causes for my kids issues. Based in science.
This contained information in a digestible amount with suggestions for next steps in a ways. I was grateful in the kindle edition for the links that took me to some master lists.
