Now, months later and weeks from the birth of her baby, she waits tables at the Mountain Top Café. Struggling with grief and her faith shaken, she joins a college class on religion. But then a new professor turns up – her best friend’s older brother, Reggie Ellis. And Chrissy is left confused. Because she’s known Reggie for most of her life. So why has she never noticed how attractive he is?

Grief has no timeline!

Finding Home by Morris Fenris ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ohmygoodness!!!!!! I'm so glad I found this newer to me author. I can't stop reading this series. They are stand alone, (each about 1 of the 6 friends) but all connected to each other. So you can choose to read in order or pick one and read it. But I guarantee you will read them all.
This book is about more than a sweet clean Christian romance ( mention of a kiss) but grief, believing in the path that is right you. There are roadblocks in her way but she follows her heart.
No time to waste on to book 3. 😁

Finding Home is Book 2 in the Rocky Ridge Series by Morris Fenris. Personally, I did not read book 1 but I did not have to because I liked this book and understood its setting and characters. The author had a way with words that made you fall in love with the characters.
Chrissy Johnson is pregnant with her first child and is excited to let her deployed husband know. Thinking of ways to tell Elliot about their baby, she is wary when unwanted guests arrive telling her that her husband did not survive a roadside bomb. She is devastated. Months later, her landlord gives her the unwelcome news that he has sold the house where she is living, and she must move within two weeks. Chrissy has been getting by with waiting tables at her parent’s restaurant and had just started to take a college course on religion. She enlists her friends help to find a place to live so that she does not have to move back in with her parents.
This college course had to have a substitute teacher and Reggie Ellis became that man. It was a surprise for Chrissy because he was her best friend’s older brother. Because he was older, they had not had much interaction over the years. It turns out that he had a recently vacated room that he was willing to rent to her. Reggie also had just met up with someone from his high school days who was recently back in town, and they had started to date. This new interest did not care for Chrissy and tensions mounted.
This was the first book that I read of Morris Fenris, and it could be read as a standalone. However, I liked the book and will be interested in what the future holds for Rocky Ridge.

This is a story that entails working through grief, guilt and various unforeseen circumstances. Chrissy is so excited to find out she’s pregnant and can’t wait to tell her husband Elliott. Almost in the same breath military officers come to her door to tell her he was killed from a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.
Her next bad news comes when her landlord informs her someone has bought the cute little house she rents and has two weeks to vacate. She calls her best friend Faith because she doesn’t know what to do. Faith comes up with an unusual solution that gives Chrissy some breathing room. Reggie is Faith’s older brother and a college professor. He has a room for rent in his large house and offers it to Chrissy. But that’s just the beginning of the story.
I enjoyed getting to know Chrissy. My hat was off to her for waitressing in her parents restaurant in spite of being pregnant and habitually tired. She struggled with her relationship with God and knew she needed to reach out to Him in spite of initially blaming Him for her husband’s death.
This was a story that was not only inspirational but showed how certain situations are like real life.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Book Sirens but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise.

A well written story by a new (to me) author who's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Chrissy and her husband are expecting. She had gotten pregnant when he was home on his last leave before shipping off to Afghanistan, and she was so excited to tell him the news. And then that military car pulls up to her house. . .with news of her husband's death. . .and everything changes. Everything--her landlord sells the house she's renting, and she has a few weeks to move out before the new owner moves in. Filled with grief, stress, self-doubts, uncertain about her future, she turns to her friends while trying to put 1 foot in front of the other to carry on. I loved how her friends helped and supported Chrissy without suffocating her. And Reggie is a gem--going to lengths to help Chrissy. I also appreciated that the author dealt with the subject of grief in a very positive and healing way. I highly recommend this clean Christian romance and am looking forward to reading more books by this author! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily expressed my honest opinion in this review.

2.5 ⭐️

Keeping in tune with the first book of the series, this was an easy, quick read. The plot centered around one of Allie’s friends you are introduced to in the first book.

The two main characters were likable and easy to root for. They were two people you just want to succeed, regardless of where or what that means for them. While I did feel the character development and actual interactions between the two main characters in this book were significantly better than in book one, many parts of the book felt extremely rushed. I found myself laughing out loud a few times because the plot seemed a bit outlandish and rushed.

I did highlight a few passages to write down. The Biblical insights in this book were great!

All in all though, it wasn’t a bad read, just one I wouldn’t revisit again. But, if someone was looking for a wholesome Christian series and doesn’t mind a bit of a rushed plot, the ease of this book would be worth the read.

Chrissy can not wait to let her husband know they are pregnant, when a men arrive to tell her he is never coming home. Then the building she lives in is sold and she must move out immediately. Her best friend offers a room at her brothers place and she takes it. Reggie was older so they had not been around each other much, but now as weeks pass, feelings start sparking. The characters are heartwarming in their compassion, trust and support for each other. The storyline has a crazy brief girlfriend that causes an ER visit, major feelings that they are not sure should be said, revelations from his pastor father and great family support on both sides. Loved their chemistry and Ellie is precious and well loved by all. Great ending and visual.

I enjoyed reading Finding Home but I couldn't begin to describe all the happenings - good and bad - without telling the whole story. Morris Fenris has already written this book and done a far better job than I ever could. I suggest you read this story and see for yourself.

One of my favorite parts, being a big romance lover, was the HEA ending. Also that several characters often turned to prayer for guidance through difficulties as well as praising and thanking God for his many gifts.

This is a clean, suspenseful romance but I think the suspense portions might be upsetting to younger readers. For that reason I recommend this story for older teens and adults.

Finding Home is Book 2 in the Rocky Ridge Series by Morris Fenris. I thought this inspirational story was very emotional. Finding Home opens with a positive pregnancy test and a few pages later, the death of her military husband, Elliot. Chrissy moves back home to her parents and close friends. She is struggling with her faith, and I believe that many people might struggle when faced with an unexpected death. She becomes friends with her friend Faith's brother, Reggie. This friendship leads to even more emotion and some guilt. I felt the the strong writing of Morris Fenris brought such a realistic feel to the storyline and characters. He took me on a rollercoaster throughout the story. Finding Home is an awesome home run. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Finding Home by Morris Fenris is the second book in the Rocky Ridge series. It can be read as a stand alone but is better if read after the first book. This book follows the story of Chrissy and Reggie. Just as with the first book in this series, I loved getting to know these fantastic characters.
Mr Fenris writes a great story that draws you in quickly. His characters are very relatable. Overall, a great book!

THIS is an amazing story
Grief, joy, hope, despair -- Allie feels all of it. Her husband is blown up overseas -- and during their 3 years of marriage he was mainly there -- not home with her. Now she is pregnant and a widow. And her landlord sold her home and she has to go somewhere -- BUT WHERE???? As a friend steps in it helps . . . .but life gets complicated when he starts to date a woman who is NOT a Christian . . . . I absolutely LOVED this book!!! Chrissy is pregnant and has nowhere to live. Her friend Faith takes her to her brother Reggie's house so she can rent a room from him.I really enjoyed this book. The faith the characters have is wonderful. Even out of brokenness, God can make us whole again as Chrissy learned. Reggie showed so much compassion for Chrissy, it just warms your heart.

Loved this story with Chrissy who finds out she is pregnant on the same day that she finds out her husband Elliott has been killed by a roadside bomb so she almost turns her back on God. When she has to move it is her friend who offers her older brother Reggie's vacant room and soon a friendship if built and she begins to rely on him and he is happy to help. Maybe she is getting a second chance at love after all the heartbreak she has gone through.

This was a wonderful book! The story starts out with a prologue which really set the stage for the rest of the book. The characters, Chrissy and Reggie, were complex but relatable. I really liked how they grew and developed throughout the whole book. Even if there was an unexpected "twist" it was still relatable. The plot line was not cheesy or monotonous, I had a hard time putting down the book!

A good Christian read

This book actually show you that even people of faith struggle with faith, with their walk with God and can sometime doubt themselves. But it does give you direction on how to handle it and what you need to do to strength you walk. I will say that I was disappointed in how Reggie left his guard down and got hurt. But I’m overall glad how the book progressed.

Chrissy and Reggie, I liked their story. Like the first book in the series, this book had grammatical errors and the ending felt rushed.

The book is a quick read but still has unexpected moments and complexity. Both main characters are trying to find their way in the world.

Finding Home: (Rocky Ridge Series 2)

I really enjoyed reading this book! It held my interest throughout the entire story! Although it started out sad when Chrissy's husband died while serving his country, she was pregnant with their baby! Then she and Reggie became friends and later fell in love with each other!

Grieving does not mean you stop living

A very heart rendering story about losing a love one and finding that God wants you to move on and love again. This is a well written story about sorrow and then finding happiness in a new life and a new relationship. God really does care about us.

A lot of difficult changes to begin with. It's lovely how friends and family are there to assist. I really liked the increasing faith and commitment aspects of the story. Good advice on grieving too. I enjoyed it. Interested in reading more of the series. Left me feeling good.
