Homicidal Instinct

Rate this book
--- You can take a killer's memory, but not his instinct ---

All Seth wants is to live free with the man he loves. But escaping death at the hands of the mafia is just the beginning of an uphill struggle. When Domenico wakes up from his impromptu surgery and doesn’t even remember Seth’s name, Seth’s world falls apart. Suddenly it’s him who has to plan an escape from New York City and navigate their way to Mexico. All that without even knowing if the man of his life will ever love him again.

Domenico doesn’t know who to trust and what to believe. The man who introduces himself as his brother seems to hide dark secrets behind a cheerful smile. With the mafia breathing down their necks, there is no time to piece together the puzzle of Domenico’s life, and each time he thinks he’s solved it, a new part appears to be missing. Dom needs to find out who he really is, what he’s capable of... and what is the real story hidden behind Seth’s intense eyes.

*** 5 Stars for my gorgeous boys,Dom and Seth ***

This book sees Dom and Seth on the run from the Mafia.Dom is suffering after the traumatic events of the last book and has Amnesia. He thinks Seth is his half brother but still finds himself lusting after him and he's got a total fascination with Seth's tight ass *fans self*,( so have I !!)
All he can do is trust Seth and believe everything he tells him.

Seth is struggling as he has to take the role of protector. He is tortured by the fact Dom cannot remember how close they were.

Dom is my fantasy man!!
Sexy, bossy, controlling and, holy hell..he's got the long hair, that's always going to do it for me!!
Have to say in this one I found myself loving Seth more and more. He's a big man but so damn cute with all the fussing and cooking ( I'd have this man in my kitchen any day)

The action takes a raw and gritty turn in the last third but I wouldn't expect anything less from these brilliant Authors.

Dom and Seth together are raw and dirty but so damn sweet as well and the sex scenes definitely got me going.
I am just loving these boys so much and for fans of M/M books on the darker side I cannot recommend highly enough!!!

“We’re quite the couple. Who did we kill to be together?”

This is simultaneously the most humorous and the darkest book of the series so far.

Seth has many moments of introspection. It’s understandable that he would not necessarily want to tell Domenico everything at once, especially given some of the situations that they find themselves in.

The emotional anguish of Dom losing his memories, especially as experienced by Seth, is as difficult as the physical agony that comes further on. Authors trying to write “angst” ? Read. This.

K&A know how to write gay sex like no one else. The shower, by the fire, the old house—versatile, rough, loving, cowboy…A+++

When Dana mentions Mr. Tropico, a shiver went through my whole body. So yeah, I’d say I’m pretty invested.

The emphasis on smell is stunningly accurate and enhances the experience. It’s exactly how being in love actually feels.

“That’s racist,” Dom said. LMFAO. I can’t. Domenico’s hypocrisy, all the Snickers bars and the cookies, Theon the global-warming warrior, the damn hen, the piglet…so many legitimate laugh-out-loud occasions here.

The ending is brutal but necessary. While some adversaries are squashed, something tells me that these boys are not going to have smooth sailing for quite a while yet. And I’m 1000% here for it.

“Whenever they kissed, it brought back all the emotions that got them together, the unbelievable closeness of knowing there would never be anyone else for either of them.”

I really do not like the amnesia trope. There genuinely isn’t much I can think of that I appreciate about the trope, and this book was no exception.
The fact that it was Dom who lost his memory made it worse: I think I would have minded it less if it had been the other way around and it was Seth with amnesia. But alas, that was not the case.
And the most annoying thing about it was that Dom didn’t even get his memories back until the very end, so the whole book basically feels a bit useless. Like filler. I wanted to see Dom and Seth move forward in their relationship; not watch them having to build a whole new one from the ground up. Add to that that Dom didn’t even seem like himself anymore and it was just weird…
I hope the rest of the series will get back on track now that Dom’s amnesia is over. Fingers crossed.

5 HUGE stars are NOT enough, so I will go with ALL THE STARS!

Reread in May 2017 - I adored it even more! Each chapter, each scene, each word. I highlighted SO much and got to share this adventure with my best friend, which made this even better.

DOM
Smoking hot Domenico! :D ******************Goodreads | Lisa *-* GiViNg It To YoU * LoCk StOcK & TwO SmOkiNg BaRrELs (Essex, England, The United Kingdom)'s review of Guns n' Boys: Book 1, Part 2:
Seth
Jonathan Guijarro as Seth VIllani #SethVillani #GunsnBoys:

This series gets better and better with each book! I loved Guns n' Boys: He Is Poison but I admit it's not an easy read, and it's definitely not for the faint of heart.

The second book, Guns n' Boys: He Is Mine kept my stomach in knots.

BUT this one, this one undid me!
(BONUS: a HUGE relief, because I WAS RIGHT!!! *Doing the happy dance*)

I recognized the pattern K.A. Merikan use: keeping the most surprising but absolutely awesome scenes for the last chapters. Again I had my heart in my throat, again I was barely breathing while reading. But it was another wonderful, wonderful book!

When DOM woke up after being severely wounded, my heart sank. I felt each and every tear, frustration and panic Seth felt. It broke my heart Dom lost his memory and the very thought he might never remember Seth and what they had, made me ache so bad!

I have to be honest and admit I've read the presentation of this book before reading Guns n' Boys: He Is Mine. I am that curious! But this time finding out about Dom losing his memory made me really afraid I will not enjoy it as much as I did the other books. Yes, I didn't see it coming, but of course I didn't. Because K.A. Merikan!
Well knowing such an important thing, before I even started reading the book, took the shock I would have had. And I think it would have been a HUGE shock.

Anyway, I was in for a bigger surprise: I loved this book even more than the others, AND I fell in love with Dom all over again. He was so different from his old self. but he was so frustrated of not remember anything. He learned to trust Seth and it was exactly like the authors put is:

"Even if Dom didn't remember Seth, his body definitely did."

Oh my, and what an adventure it was! From the moment Dom opened his eyes, he was mesmerized by Seth. When he was told who Seth was, he had a lot of trouble fighting his attraction, but in the end, it was even better than I imagined, him falling for Seth, and Seth learning to adapt to the new side of Dom.

It was another amazing experience, reading about my new favorite MM couple. I have no words to describe how much I LOVED each and every scene with the two of them, even with all the madness around them, the bullets, the chase, the torture and all that BLOOD! God, so much blood!

I ADORE THIS SERIES!!!

OMG! I cried like a baby reading this novel. 😭💔😭 So much heartache and sadness yet it was masterfully balanced with heartwarming romance in-between and in the end. For a change, a huge change I have to say, in this story, Dom is not the leader. 😌 He has lost his memories after he woke up from the brutal escape from their mafia family and now he couldn’t remember anything, not even his name. And our sweet and shy househusband Seth has to become the protector for Dom and himself. 😁 And needless to say, he has no idea what to do, where to go or whom to trust except himself and Dom. Meanwhile, Dom doesn’t know whom to trust too. Seth claimed that they are brothers but he’s inexplicably and irrationally attracted to his alleged brother/protector and he’s feeling very guilty. 😉 But for better or for worse, they have no one except each other and they have to stick together. And they need to keep on running because their family won’t relent until both of them are dead. 😭 Will Dom regain his memories or does Seth has to convince him all over again that they belong together? Their future together is uncertain, difficult and hopeless. 😢 Yet, if they want to overcome everything and prove that love truly wins in the end, they’ll need every wit and effort they have to survive this mess. 😌

God, this was a brutal read, especially in the end. 💔 Things were not going well but not that bad in the beginning. Seth was trying to do his best to protect both of them and attempting to escape from the States. And he’s doing a stellar job at that. ☺️ And while Dom still doesn’t remember who he was or what he meant to Seth, he has started to fall in love with Seth all over again and seemed like there finally was a hope for them. 😌 And then, hell broke. 😭 It took me 3 days to finish this novel because I couldn’t bring myself to read Seth’s torture scenes without crying like a babe. 💔😭 Half of the book, I had to hold tissue in one hand to dab my eyes while the other was holding my kindle. But I think everything was worth it in the end. 😊 Seems like that chapter of their lives is finished and they are going to write their new destiny. But knowing K.A. Merikan, I have no idea what kind of hardships and struggles our heroes have to endure again in the future but hopefully they will end up ok. 🙏 After all, isn’t Love worth it to endure whatever it comes in our lives? 😌

Favorite excerpts from the novel: 💗💜💗

If Dom couldn’t remember him, he couldn’t love him either.

Even though Dom didn’t remember what they shared, his body sure did, reacting to Seth’s scent like a feline to catnip.

The amount of care and tenderness was overwhelming. It felt like Seth not only loved him, but worshipped the ground Dom walked on. If Domenico asked him for a foot massage, he’d probably get it.

Seth grounded him, helped him find his place on Earth when everything else turned into a blur.

“You like it when I cum in you?” “Yeah, you complete me.” It sounded strangely sweet in the accompaniment of groans and skin slapping against skin.

The expression on his face was so hypnotizing it made Dom know who he was even if he didn’t remember the past. He was Seth’s lover. Seth’s protector. And he’d do anything to stay where he was at now.

No man before Dom had had this effect on him. This hazy lust, mixed with a profound sense of belonging. No one else could even compete with that.

“Love your lips. They’re so soft,” whispered Domenico, as if he were afraid to shatter the silence of the RV. “They’re all yours. I’m all yours,” Seth said in a trembling voice

You loved the lifestyle you had with the Family, so when you chose me over them… That’s everything I could have wanted.”

This wasn’t some random guy Domenico wanted, this was the guy he wanted with all his being, and that comment left him cold.

“I can’t live without you. It took time, but you understand me so completely. I’ve never felt this for anyone before.”

“You… you once promised me that you’d let me die without pain.” The depth of pain he saw in those amber eyes stabbed him in the heart like the sharpest knife. “No pain,” whispered Domenico.

“It’s always love with you. Even when you fuck me so hard I don’t know who I am anymore,” he whispered.

“You know how I want to die? I want to fall asleep next to you and never wake up.” Domenico stared at him, his face slack before he picked himself up and chuckled, hiding his face close to Seth’s ear. “Hope we’ll both be very old by then. With broken bodies. I don’t want you to leave me behind.” “I’m sure your heart will stop the moment I die.” Seth gave him a gentle kiss.

“You have the power to crush my heart, so how could anyone else resist you?” Dom asked, drilling his intense gaze into Seth.

“Mine.” “Well, you saved me, now you have to keep me.” Seth nuzzled him gently. It was as if Dom’s memories never disappeared. When they got together in bed, the pure carnality of it transcended the mind. Even if Dom didn’t remember Seth, his body definitely did.

“You did. You chose me, and I will always be yours.”

“Whatever happens, I won’t let them get their hands on you. We’ll always be together.”

Seth Villani is crumbling under too much tension, too much fear. They are on the run from “the Family” and Dom is suffering from severe amnesia: He doesn’t even remember his own name! His mind is like an empty jar and Seth doesn’t know how to remind him of what they once shared…

If Dom doesn’t know Seth…then he can’t love him either. Will Dom even want to be his boyfriend now…knowing that they’re half-brothers? Will he come to love him again with time?

DOM: “I suppose someone like me would be lonely.”

SETH: “You’ve got me.”

DOM: “Yeah, there’s always…FAMILY.”

Dom Acerbi is crumbling under too much tension, too much fear. The only thing he knows about himself now is that he has a Sicillian accent and that he is most definitely gay, salivating for the big hairy chest with thick pecs, the tight ass and the intoxicating masculine smell that belong to his brotherGODDAMMIT!

Dom wants to trust Seth. He is all Dom’s got now. But he is confused... What if Seth is lying about everything? What if he is just after the money? What if he is taking Dom to a trap? What if he betrays him?

description

Seth has to man up and take care of the man who left everything behind for him now. No matter what happens, even if Dom never remembers him and everything that they’ve been through together, and never loves him again…Seth will protect the love of his life and keep him safe.

But what if he just…isn’t enough for that job?

“You know how I want to die? I want to fall asleep next to you and never wake up.”

“Hope we’ll both be very old by then, with broken bodies. I don’t want you to leave me behind.”

“I’m sure your heart will stop the moment I die...”

OVERALL: I love these crazy dudes! You can feel the affection these two have for each other seeping from the pages and it makes you feel all warm and tingly. Continuing without interruption in the timeline, Domenico Acerbi and Seth Villani are on the run from their mafia family. Complicating their situation is the fact that Dom is injured and has amnesia.  Since he's always been the trainer and protector, Seth must now assume that role. As they navigate from New York to their previously planned destination, missteps are made putting them closer to harm. Learning who to trust becomes tricky and relying upon blind instinct is all Domenico knows at this point.

“I can see what the old me saw in you. Even if you can be a lying, chaotic prick.”

Domenico's memory loss certainly provides for an interesting dynamic on multiple levels because it not only forces Seth to take the reins but their personal relationship is tested. With Dom being such a predatory and dominant man, it’s only natural for him to exercise what he innately knows despite not having any memory. For Seth, it’s also reactionary but feeling the loss of their past begins to cause Seth’s insecurities levels to rise, as all he wants is for Dom to know what they uniquely share.

“You missed this, huh?” “I like your force,” Seth admitted and swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing with each big breath.”

When Dom first awakened from his injuries, I was shocked to read about his amnesia but appreciated how Dom battled with nature versus nurture, and interestingly, it was a relief to know Dom was still very much himself though he may have revealed some sweet secrets to Seth that he may want to retract. Lol. While wholeheartedly loving Dom’s character, Seth is still in the process of finding a balance in the relationship dynamics but Dom is more than willing to comfort Seth.

“Domenico pulled Seth’s face down so their foreheads met. “And I need to sink into your beautiful warm hole. I will fuck you. First soft, then hard, and then I’ll come inside you.”

With Dom and Seth, there always seems to be a sense of foreboding whether they are enjoying a tender moment, quarreling over jealousies or dodging gun fire. Due to breached loyalties and a family insurrection, danger presents itself at all times in this tense and action packed installment paralleled with layers of character dimension and some unexpected twists. While it appears Dom and Seth may have earned their freedom, certain factions remain and it’s doubtful they will relinquish their pursuit.

What I’ve come to enjoy with K.A. Merikan is just how effectively they can lure you into the lives of their characters, as the dark humor, realistic dialogue, action and scorching hot kinky times are addictive. For those who enjoy MM, I highly recommend this series! And, it is too much to ask for one bi moment? Just a quickie? [inserts self] Haha!

Obscurely funny and very, very thrilling.

A strange road trip. Two sexy and intense guys on the run. The perfectly imperfect couple formed by this funny and gritty killer called Domenico Acerbi and Seth— that lovely man with the wtf ideas, moods and tantrums—. A ride to shinny beaches that took an unfortunate turn to hell.

The Merikans and their dark comedy, their superb humor and the way they play their cards are something I don’t want to miss. I need them in my life. They are the juicy steak and wine after a week of Diet Coke and salads. That good and welcome.
And the beginning of this third installment couldn’t have been better: it catches up exactly where Guns n' Boys: He Is Mine ends and it starts with an amnesic Domenico and that gives the plot a new beginning vibe making everything better, more exciting, sexier, sadder... because these two are destined to be together and this book proves it.

This story full of those brilliant nonsenses that make this couple so special (and I’m not sure if I’m talking about Seth and Dom or about Kat and Agnes. Both I guess). Because adversity join together two beings very different apparently but who share a mutual feeling: the love, passion, and need for each other. Forget all the fighting, and drama. If they feel menaced, they’ll be one to face it, to defend the other.

And there’s some nasty violence here to prove me right. It’s hard to read (but very, very well done I must say) and the perfect show to understand what I’m saying, the purpose of it all. There, in that precise moment, you’ll perceive perfectly how these two love and live for their relationship. You’ll be able to breath their love and even if tough, witnessing this huge and pure commitment tells everything we need to know about Domenico Acerbi and Seth Villani’s story.

So yup. Amazing experience where funny and dark converged in a imperfect but addictive love story and some ridiculous situations worthy of the best dark comedies.
A highly recommend series for those who love good writing, gritty romance and great but obscure humor.

“I can’t live without you. It took time, but you understand me so completely. I’ve never felt this for anyone before.”

What a thrilling read!

Homicidal Instinct picks up right after the last book. Dom and Seth are officially on the run from the mafia. I didn’t expect Dom to be in the state he was, and we got to see these two deepen their relationship once more. I love their connection, love and loyalty to one another.

Seth’s actions (and his reactions) at times were driving me nuts. He could be so infuriating, but that's who Seth is. He’s so soft and emotional with a major temper. Dom is…well Dom. I couldn’t hold most of his actions against him due to the state he was in.

It was sweet how Seth wanted to protect and not overwhelm Dom even though the half-truths came back to bite him in the ass. Considering the rough start to the relationship, it was sweet how he wanted take care of him while trying to keep those darker moments from their past locked up and focus on the positives of their relationship.

However, Seth sometimes seems to forget that Dom has lost a lot, wholly depends on him, and is the only person he has right now who he can trust and feel safe with. Goodness, these two really need a good shake, but when they cool down, the tender and sweet moments between them are so lovely. The sex scenes, as always, are hot and well written - perfection. Seeing a sweeter and tender Dom was so nice. When they have those explosive arguments and then come back together, I love it. These men genuinely do love each other despite everything.

“You did. You chose me, and I will always be yours.”

“You know how I want to die? I want to fall asleep next to you and never wake up.”

“If Domenico only could, he would give him the freaking stars in the sky.”

This story wasn’t light in tone - it’s pretty dark and violent - but goodness, it was hilarious at times. I think it’s the funniest so far. The banter and antics had me dying. The remarks and comments Dom makes are too much. The man has some peculiar morals and principles regarding certain things. He’s one twisted gentleman.

The last 30% were so wild and caused me some major anxiety. I was so scared for them, and while I am not squeamish seeing Seth hurt….oh that was so hard to read. I had to pause a few times. That epilogue...I can’t wait to start the next book. I can’t even start to imagine what is next to come.

4 'I need some FOODgasm' stars

description

I love being back with my favorite mafia boys! On a side not, do we still consider them as mafia since they are on the run away from the Family? Anyway, reading Seth and Dom's antiques and bizarre adventures bring me a sense of comfort like having chicken soup on a rainy day.

In #2 Homicidal Instinct, poor Seth was like a headless chicken with Dom being out of commission. The blurb already spoiled me with what happened to Dom after their ordeal at the end of #1.2, so it was not all that surprising. I enjoyed seeing this new side of Dom that is unsure of everything, but it didn't take him long to recover back to his natural asshole-ish way. I still wanted to slug him most the time when he bullied Seth. Old habit die hard despite memory loss, eh.

description

As for Seth, can he be any more cute? I know he hates anyone calling him that, but I really need my own Seth to provide me with some FOODgasm. His ability to come up with new dishes and sinful food every time amazed me. I wonder did the authors love cooking or they just make it up as it goes. Deep fried Snicker bars? Can anything be more sinful than that? Although Seth's naivety and clueless-ness still baffled me, I just want to hug him protectively even more.

description

Although the pacing for the first half of the book was quite slow and overall the plot development didn't move forward much, I enjoyed every moment I had with these boys. They bicker, they fight, they annoyed each other and then they will have some hot make up sex. What's not to love? We do get some intense action though towards the last 30%, Dom's badass-ness is awesome, cruel and graphic as usual. Oh my GOD! My heart can't take it.

"You know how I want to die? I want to fall asleep next to you and never wake up."
"Hope we'll both be very old by then. With broken bodies. I don't want you to leave me behind."

Regarding the little twist at the end, why do we need that again? Anxiously anticipating #3 and I'm so ready for Seth and Dom to move on to their next chapter. I will appreciate if Dana don't make too much of an appearance. I don't need chick in my m/m. Thank you very much.

***5 Stars for my favorite in this series so far***
I don't imagine Sam with a tattoo, but I like the pose.:

"You loved the lifestyle you had with the Family, so when you chose me over them... That's everything I could have wanted."

OH. MY. GOD.

It was probably a good thing that I already wrote most of my review yesterday, even though I had the ending of the book still ahead of me, otherwise it would have ended in utter chaos. I told a friend last night that I needed to go to bed, but decided to read one or two more pages. Bad idea, Simone. Bad idea. At least in regards to my sleep. Of course I was not done with one or two pages. All sleep forgotten, I could not put it down anymore. I'm dead-ass tired today, but this book is so worth it!!!

With Dom being put out of commission due to his injuries and the amnesia he suffered at the end of the previous book, this time it is Seth's turn to take responsibility in order to keep them safe. Without any plan, only his determination to protect Dom at any cost, Seth sees himself in the leading role to escape killers left and right, which turns into a road trip to hell until the end of the book. I loved him for his efforts, for his intentness, for how far he would go, despite being in way over his head.

To add insult to injury, he has a hard time adapting to the possibility that Dom might never regain his memory and will not remember anything about their time together, but he tries to repose confidence in their love for each other which is still there and will hopefully prove to be enough in the end.

I am amazed at his sweetness, at his gentle character, at how gullible he still can be, despite everything both men have been through. Sometimes, though, I still wanted to shake him and smack him upside the head for his naivity. Maybe somebody should have told him that parading in front of a TV camera is not the way to go while trying to escape the mafia. He really should know by now what The Family - his family - is capable of and the methods they use to achieve their goal.

I never thought it possible that I could love Dom even more than before. Not able to remember anything from his past and despite his innate predatory personality, he is set on trusting Seth with everything. I really loved this softer side of him...

... but it was also great to see his "old self" with slightly psychotic tendencies, his jealousy and his killer instinct shine through occasionally. ;-)

To see how he fell for Seth all over again was everything.
Seth grounded him, helped him find his place on Earth when everything else turned into a blur.

The sex scenes were once again burning-the-sheets hot, but after reading more than three books in a row now from these authors, I did not expect anything less. ;-) To my mind, it was each and every tender moment, though, what made them just perfect for each other.
"Don't force yourself to anything, Dom." Seth nudged him with his nose. "If it's meant to be, everything will come back to you." Domenico shook his head. "But I want to know. Remember what I felt when I first saw you. Everything is so confusing now, but I do know that you are incredibly close to me. There's this... pull in my chest when I look at you."

The story itself read like the calm before the storm. Although it was humorous at times, especially due to Dom's quirks cropping out during their trip, I felt an underlying tension the whole time, even when it was just the two of them together. I expected something to happen at every turn what kept me constantly on the edge of my seat.

And then I came to the end and... God, it almost wrecked me. Full of adrenaline, I could not sit still anymore and my blood pressure was sky high. Well, good luck with going to sleep after such a drama...

To be honest, I thought about taking a break from this series, to read something fluffy in between, because - let's face it - this story is sometimes so dark and brutal that it is bordering on the stuff that nightmares are made of, but there is no way for me to stop now.

~Updated for Gay Book Reviews~

... and then there was Dom, unharmed and sexy as fuck with his trusty Beretta in hand.

This series has become my drug of choice, and it's only getting better. Domenico and Seth are on the run. This book is their journey as they try to escape the mafia. It is full of adventure, surprises, impossibly hilarious situations, dark humor, funny and witty dialogues, steam, and most importantly, love.

After the gut-punching ending of the previous book, Dom has lost his memory. When he wakes up, he doesn't remember anything, not even Seth. In this installment, we got to see a different side of him. He 's confused, insecure, and lost. For the first time in his life, he has to rely on someone else. But it doesn't take long for his insticts and personality to take over even if he does not remember a thing. BUT... "You can take a killer's memory, but not his instinct:

Seth is stronger than before, less naive and more determined. Well...most of the time. But he's still the same sweetheart we met in the previous books. The one who cooks for his man, offers risotto to the enemy and buys a rooster so that the chicken doesn't feel lonely.

And that's what I liked the most about the book. The circumstances change, the MCs must adjust, but the authors stayed true to the characters. It's the same men we loved in the previous books.

The connection between them is stronger than ever, their bond unbreakable.

“You have the power to crush my heart, so how could anyone else resist you?”?
“Yes. I almost lost you today. I need to drown in you,”

The last 10% of the book had me holding my breath, because let me tell you, nobody writes action scenes like these ladies.

The ending is a cliffy, sort of, but my favorite kind. The one that leaves you warm and settled but makes you crave more of a love that will crawl under your skin.

Highly recommended!

Seth and Dom have such a beautiful connection. This book showcased their love in a way that I wasn’t expecting and made me fall in love with them even more.

The story begins right where the previous book left off, Dom has been given a fresh slate. Literally.

Seth grounded him, helped him find his place on Earth when everything else turned into a blur.

Seth is ill-equipped to handle this new burden. He does his best, but manages to get into SO MUCH trouble!! I will admit that some of the decisions Seth makes were so infuriating! However, it was true to his character and honestly one of the reasons that Dom loves him.

Seth wasn't the kind of person who made deals with cartels. He was the kind of person who made waffles with whipped cream and bananas.

Even though this plot frustrated me at times, it was an incredible tool to see the more sensitive side of Dom. This book was such a pivotal point in their relationship!

I could have done without the death of I guess it can't be all rainbows and sunshine in this world. On to the next one!

The authors KA Merikan have created a gritty, dark series with anti heroes that you can't help but fall in love with. But be warned - this series is not for the faint of heart or the easily offended. Seth and Dom have been through so much and their situation, which left them on the run at the end of the last book, continues to escalate in this one.

Dom has amnesia and that leaves Seth in quite the quandary. It's left to him to make sure they stay alive and escape the Family. Luckily, Dom's protective instincts are still there and he is still very much drawn to Seth. But the situation just broke my heart. Seth was dying inside not knowing if Dom would ever remember what they had.

And that ending!!! Fuck fuck FUCK!!!! It was intense and brutal. I can't wait to see where these very talented authors take us in book 3.

Damn! I just finished and I don't even know where to start because the last 10% was CRAZY! I can tell you this, I love, love, love Dom and Seth. Opposites definitely attract in this relationship and they are crazy in love. They love hard and they fight hard as well.

First, you really shouldn't read this as a stand alone. You definitely want to read the first books in the series or you will more than likely be really confused.

Poor Seth! Seriously! Dom is so good for him because he is take charge and Seth really needs someone like that in his life. Seth has a great heart and sometimes he doesn't really use his head to make wise decisions . He has a bit of a temper, but he always apologizes after and definitely tries to show his love through his food. Who else would try to offer risotto as a form of payment to someone giving you fake passports lol. That's just how Seth's brain operates. But one thing is for sure, he loves Dom with all of his heart. Seth has to leave his comfort zone in this one and he's not perfect, but he does his absolute best and the reason he's doing it is because his heart belongs to Dom and he doesn't want to let him down.

This was all too much for Seth. Too much tension, too much fear, but he needed to persevere for Domenico's sake. Show him that he knew how to man up and take care of Dom no matter how bad his injuries ended up being.

I thought it was really cute when Seth was having some fun with Dom

But this really sums up Seth's feelings the best:

Domenico stiffened under the touch. "Am I like your side project?" "No. You're my everything. I ran away with you. I want a life with you."

On to Dom...this was a hard book for him as well. He had to put a lot of trust in Seth because he didn't really have many other options. He slowly started to become more like himself as the book progressed, but he was definitely frustrated along the way. One thing for sure, his attraction to Seth never stopped. The sex between the two is always so hot.

It was as if Dom's memories never disappeared. When they got together in bed, the pure carnality of it transcended the mind. Even if Dom didn't remember Seth, his body definitely did.

Dom is almost always the protector when it comes to the two of them. Every once in awhile, Seth will pull through, but it's usually Dom who protects Seth and saves them in every situation. This has to take its toll on Dom, but Seth is always there for him after.

"Yes. I almost lost you today. I need to drown in you," he whispered, slowly twisting them around.

God, the last 10% of the book was just...let me put it this way...there is no WAY you are putting it down while you are reading this last part. Much of it is torturous to read, but the best part, for me, was right before

This was awesome and I loved it! I didn't finish it yesterday (when I got it) because I was trying to savor it....but alas, now I'm done and waiting for the next one! You won't be disappointed!

This was something rather special and so much better than I expected. I put off reading this for ages because I was so dubious a out the whole 'memory loss, now we're only brothers' thing. That sort of plot line usually leads to lots of heartbreak for the MC who remembers the past relationship and frustration and a need to fuck from the other MC. I'm not saying this didn't happen, but it was all managed very quickly, I really was expecting them to not be together for most of the book. I should have known K.A. Merikan can hardly go longer than 30% before having their characters fuck.

“You need that cock, don’t you?”
Seth gasped, rocking his hips against Dom’s hand and daring to look into Dom’s bright eyes... “I do…”
Domenico pulled Seth’s face down so their foreheads met. “And I need to sink into your beautiful warm hole. I will fuck you. First soft, then hard, and then I’ll come inside you.”

Anyway, this book was special because we get to see these two fall in love all over again, with just as must intensity but more devotion than last time.

He was a lost man, and he’d found his anchor.

Watching these two is like watching the sweetest, most romantic, most fucked up train wreck of all time and my-oh-my how I love it!!

He and Domenico were entangled so completely he knew there would never be another man in his life. And even the thorns of this relationship biting into his body wouldn’t make him back away. They only meant that they were more connected, no matter how much pain they caused each other.

As always this book ended with a BANG and it was full of blood and torture, not that I would expect anything less from Merikan or Dom for that matter.

4 stars for another intriguing installment in this series

I was so curious to read how Dom's and Seth's dangerous journey goes on and Homicidal Instinct was just what I've been looking for. The cliffhanger of the last part had me on edge and I was a little afraid to get back to my favorite (ex-)mafia boys, because - knowing the authors - I was sure that they wouldn't go easy on them.

You can take a killer's memories, but not his instinct!

All Seth wants is to live free with the man he loves. But escaping death at the hands of the mafia is just the beginning of an uphill struggle. When Domenico wakes up from his impromptu surgery and doesn’t even remember Seth’s name, Seth’s world falls apart.

Knowing Seth, it wasn't difficult to figure out that his attampt at planing their escape would keep a lot of funny moments handy. And I wasn't wrong on this point.

Dom and Seth are falling from one dangerous situation into the next, always followed by the threat of death. But while this book held tons of action and very hot sex, I also got to know Dom and Seth a little better. The fact that Dom isn't able to remember his past makes him somehow much more approachable and the authors were able to show another side of his character. And a real interesting one!

But even without his memories, Dom isn't easy to handle and of course their relationship stays - let's say - very dynamic. I won't say much about the credibiliy about this book; there definitly were a few really crazy scenes that I coud picture perfectly in a breathtaking hollywood movie - but all in all, the strangeness of some moments didn't end my fun.

A highly entertaining and incredibly hot read!

This little piggy went to market...and this little piggy...

That's right there are piggy's and chickens and who knows what all in this story because our boys end up at a market with a lot of Elvis impersonators apparently.

Dom and Seth are on the run there's a price on their heads and frankly Dom's head has gotten a little rattled so he's having to rely on Seth to keep them alive and if you read the last couple of books or even my reviews then you know this is so not a good thing. Thankfully for all concerned Dom seems to have retained his natural survival instincts and I definitely tip my hat to Seth he's doing the best he can and he's determined to keep Dom alive no matter what the challenge.

I have to admit Seth has finally grown on me and while he still has his moments where I'm not so sure that a smack upside the head would be amiss they are getting fewer and farther apart, although a couple of the ones that he had this time around were pretty epic.

This story is really starting to reach it's stride and I'm enjoying each book a bit more than the one before. I like the subtle humor that flows throughout and the way Dom and Seth's relationship had to redevelop because of events that transpired in book 1 part 2. Also while I'm not a person who would normally advocate for excessive violence, even in my fiction, I am totally down with whatever Dom did to Vincente all of it because in spite of my initial and to a small degree continuing irritation with Seth, he is too sweet and gentle natured for such violence to be perpetrated on and by his own brother? No, just no.

For me Seth has become that sweet and naïve friend who needs to be sheltered and protected from the ugly side of life and if not by his own big brother than who? He may drive you batshit crazy at times but you couldn't imagine not having him there to put a smile on your face when you need it most. Luckily for Seth, Dom has taken on the role of protector whether either of them realize it or not.

Overall I really, really enjoyed this book and it was the clincher for me. I will definitely be waiting for the next one to be released which I understand from my friends will be later this summer.

4.5 stars!

What a wild ride! I feel like I've been through so much with Seth and Dom. The authors that make up Merikan can definitely craft a story!

Seth....sigh. He's a big ol softy. He was thrust into the mafia life, never wanted it, and is now on the run with Dom, his fiancée. Except Dom now has amnesia after his accident and doesn't remember Seth. What was great about this is that it gave Seth the chance to stop relying on Dom to handle things. Seth had to step up and lead the way. And he did. Except for the TV thing......there are times when Seth acts like the cliché, dingbat blonde (I can say that since I was born blonde).

Dom....I just love him. I loved him in the last book, but I loved him even more here. Even clueless to his life from amnesia, he wormed his way deeper into my heart. He feels his connection to Seth, even though he doesn't remember him.

These men spend the book on the run from the Family that's after them. I will say this.....Merikan writes some VERY descriptive violence into her books. So descriptive, in fact, that I cringed. That's not easy for me to do. I'm in the medical field. I love seeing surgeries, procedures, etc. Nothing bloody phases me. But reading about particular body parts being sliced off......yikes. That didn't take up a lot of the book, trust me, just putting that out there for people who are squeamish.

There is no true cliffy here, just letting you know that their story isn't over. The romance here was really beautiful! This has become one of my favorite couples.

How the hell do they get themselves out of these situations ??? Dom & Seth are off the charts HOT ...and while I didn't care much for Doms issue in this book, it did allow for vulnerability to shine through. I held my breath at that ending and can't wait for book 4 !

Seth and Domenico, my favorite mafia badasses, are back, and they definitely know how to make an entrance with a bang. In this volume, Seth is the one who suddenly has to take care of everything since Domenico has amnesia – and we all know how Seth’s previous attempts at taking the lead ended. Not well. I kept hoping he’d learned a few things… Domenico is dealing with facing suddenly-unknown-to-him enemies, and it was fascinating to watch him deal with the situation. The only thing he has left is knowing that he can trust Seth, and his instincts—hence the title. I loved the exploration of that idea of “falling back to the basics” and how it affects both Domenico and Seth. This second book in the disturbingly gritty ‘Guns n’ Boys’ series picks up right after the cliff-hanger at the end of the previous book, so please consider anything mentioned in this review a potential spoiler for the two pars of book one.

Seth is finally a little less naïve than he was in the beginning of book one, and having the responsibility for both of their safety while they make their way to Mexico teaches him a lot more. They deal with Domenico’s recovery while trying to stay alive despite multiple attempts to kill them. The one thing Seth no longer questions is that he loves Domenico – and in that sense it is particularly tragic that Domenico has forgotten everything. But Seth is a survivor and he soldiers on as best he can. He still doesn’t really get the kind of danger they are in and some of his mistakes made me roll my eyes, but on the whole, he does manage not to get tem killed.

Domenico, who has always been in control and has survived due to his ability to read and manipulate people, suddenly finds himself operating in the dark. He tries to remember, but it is hard work and new information keeps popping up. On a fundamental level he is still Domenico though, a badass to the core, so in quite a few instances it is his instinct that saves the day. But when it finally all comes together, including a startling revelation from Domenico’s mother, it is almost too late and the suffering he has to go through may be less physical than what Seth has o deal wit, but no less agonizing.

This is yet another novel firmly rooted in the depths of the moral gray zone. Do not read this if you are squeamish in any way, and while the brutality is more psychological than real in most of the book, there is enough blood, gore, and torture to make me want to stop reading. Except I can’t. The warning in the blurb about this story “getting under your skin” definitely holds true for me. I just have to know want’s next for these guys.

So if you want to know how Seth and Domenico deal with being on the run, if you don’t mind things getting rough from time to time, and if you think you can deal with violence, brutality, and the torture of anyone who does not comply with Seth’s father’s wishes, then you will probably like this second book in the series. It is not a fluffy romance, but as dark as this thriller is, the love between Seth and Domenico is fascinating and multi-layered, and continues to fascinate me.

Have to say I really love these guy's. We start with the aftermath of Dom being shot and then being taken care of by Seth and his ex. there were times I wanted to cry for Seth. I have to say don't really like most of Seth's old friends. It was different with Seth taking the lead and protecting Dom, But it doesn't those take long for Dom to start behaving like his old self. I think the dinner scene with Seth's friends rank pretty high on my favorite scenes. The slaughterhouse scene was intense and all the action after keeps you totally on the edge and you don't want to put the book down. This has become one of my favorite series and I can't wait for the next.
