Alessio ♡ Anna

*phew! mafia, phew!*

❝All the actions and twists were just fine but I felt like both MC's were detached, disconnected and just not doing anything. I think this book could've been more better with authentic chemistry and emotions between the main characters.❞

Another book that is tough for me to rate. I liked parts of it, but there were also a lot of things I didn’t like.

*********SPOILER AHEAD*********

What I didn’t like:

The situation with the wedding night. So, Alessio was drugged and hallucinated. Okay. That explains why he suddenly strangles her, but his actions before that were also not great. Yes, she was the one to say, they should consummate the marriage, but take her virginity without any kind of foreplay. Nothing to make it good for her? From how the scene reads, he is still having his senses at that point, asking her if she is sure, but then just goes about it like a bull in the china shop.

When Anna’s brothers turn back up, Anna planned to go back to them and take both kids with her. BOTH kids. Never mind that Emma was not her child, she just wanted to take them with her? I get that she is young, but she didn’t think for a minute about the kids, especially Emma, with her decision.

*********SPOILER END*********

Another thing I didn’t like was the romance. I didn’t feel it. The intimate scene after that wedding night disaster was boring and again, Alessio disappoints with being either a selfish or boring lover. Can’t tell which is it. But the whole thing didn’t excite me at all. Some sentences were weird. I think there were words missing, and it made it hard to read at times.

I think there is another book coming, but I am not interested in continuing the story.

Conclusion:

It was okay, but couldn’t interest me enough to read more. Parts I liked, but the parts I didn’t like ruined it for me.

In order to join the two mafia families Anna marries Alessio who is the Italian mafia leader. Being an arranged marriage it starts out on a bumpy road but as time goes on they slowly get to know one another. I loved the bond between Anna and Alessio's daughter. The author does a great job developing their story and kept me glued to the pages reading and left with wanting more with the cliffhanger ending.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

This book was well done. It was easy to get into the story to the point where I had to read through the night. I thought that the relationship between the main characters, and between important side characters, developed well.

Also there were some scenes that didn’t make much sense.
So be careful as is...

****spoiler*** time:

I thought that the night of the wedding was written a bit strangely. It was unclear to me why the drug caused hallucinations in the first place, unless I missed it somewhere but I don't think so. Also, there was no foreplay between the main characters, and that lack of passion never really increased as the book went on, sexually. And few different scenes that there is no romanticism at all.

Also the moment when Anna wanted to move out to her brothers with kids, she wanted both kids, and it just hit me when she wanted to take Emma also. But fact to be said Emma is not her daughter, so why she wanted to take her??? I understand Daniele but her.....

Also why Ronan takes her to the same place of torture again second time.

But nonetheless book is quite good.

This is listed as a dark mafia book...not really dark. Story of Anna and Alessio. Alessio is too soft for a mafia character. Anna is very strong and tough for being raised the way that she was. Nothing makes sense. Then, when she meets his daughter....that whole relationship is instant and not healthy. The overall story was good and definitely has potential right up until the end when the book just stopped. The end was abrupt and felt unfinished. Was it meant to be a cliffhanger? Because nothing is really pulling me back for more. The book needs editing!

I received an ARC through Voracious Readers in exchange for an honest review.

Not a bad storyline it was pretty enjoyable. I feel like the intimate scenes weren’t fully formed/ fleshed out in a way that would add to the story. I think Anna got knocked out at least 3x the amount of any other heroine I’ve read about. There’s a lot of things “going dark” for her. All in all a decent read I don’t know if I will ever reread though

2.50 overall rating. The h was too young, the story felt under-developed and the editing needed allot of work.

This book was just okay for me. This was another novel with a heroine that is barely 18 and has no life experiences. She was still calling her dad "Papa" even though he was a complete monster. This genre has been written about allot making it a difficult theme to write something captivating and different. I am always looking for an author that may be new or new to me that can provide that special story in this genre.

Alessio was certainly not the bad-ass anti-hero that he was painted as in the book blurb. His treatment of his very young/age gap wife was "too good" compared to other book anti-hero's in this genre. His character at times felt like a "push over". Anna's character was a mixture of maturity vs. immaturity. Some times she acted like a 17-18 year old and other times she acted very mature; unfortunately there was no continuity in how her character responded to events in this book. The night of her wedding she uses unprotected sex and then is surprised when she gets knocked up....what century is this?

This book had some major editing issues including: misspellings, punctuation, sentence structure etc., that definitely played a big part in the lower rating. An author needs to invest in getting a good proofreader/beta-reader. This book didn't flow for me and the so called slow-burn love connection was skimmed over and spotty at best. The sex scenes were just okay, nothing special, even when Anna loses her virginity. I never felt a love connection between these two characters, even by books' end. It's fine if the character's end a book without a love connection but attempting to make a love connection and only delivering a mediocre one, just doesn't work for me.

The writing wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. The story had merit, but didn't feel fully developed in places throughout the novel. There was what I refer to as " too much filler" instead of pertinent dialogue that added to the plot. A story needs to flow and have a sequence of events that are all interconnected. This author definitely has the right idea and hopefully will continue to try and develop a story in this genre that "stands out above the rest".

The idea that Anna let Alessio's daughter refer to her as "mama" right off the bat, was just plain creepy. The child was young and impressionable, but it was clear this woman was not Maria yet Anna never took the time to try to explain to the child who she actually was. The instant connection with the daughter was good, but some of the dialogue between Anna and this young child hinged on "weird". The little girl had lost her mother and yet she made references to Anna as if she was Maria.

Oh my goodness, 1 out of 5 stars (sad face). I was so disappointed with this book right from the first chapter. Poor use of English, missing words in sentences, tautology, please what else? The plot didn’t flow at all. Although I liked that there were an equal amount of chapters in Alessio’s POV as in Anna’s POV, there wasn’t cohesiveness to the story and the events. There are just no words for me and I don’t want to take the review further when I feel like I read a draft book not a published one. Bye Ruthless King, you were ruthless to me.

Anna has been given to her dad's enemy so that they can form an alliance.
Before that, her dad had her locked away and was physically abusive to her.

It was a decent storyline, although very predictable and could definitely have been developed more. At present, it just feels incomplete 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm sure if the author continues then she will grow and better herself. 2/2.5

And a Ruthless King he is!

Throughout Anna’s life, all she’s ever known is cruelty at her father’s hands, she’s had to learn the hard way what happens if she crosses him, she does everything in her power to please him, but it is never enough.

When Anna is forced into an arranged marriage with Alessio, she remembers her father’s words and vows to uphold her duty. Anna is fearful of Alessio and rightly so.

And then she meets Emma, his daughter, and they hit it off instantly, at first Alessio is concerned but can see his daughter has warmed to her and they are forming a bond.

Then unexpectedly Anna is pregnant, at first she’s at a loss, but comes to accept the life growing inside of her, Alessio can’t help but be happy at this turn of events. But her father has ominous plans for Anna and her child and will do anything to gain the upper hand in terms of power.

When Anna is kidnapped and hurt, Alessio does everything in his power to find his wife and daughter, and he does, this puts him on the defensive and will do anything and everything to keep his family safe.

Anna begins to feel comfortable in her life, in her role as wife and mother, at finally getting her freedom, and she isn’t hesitant in telling Alessio her thoughts on the matter. Alessio begins to understand Anna better when she reveals to him the trauma she endured living under father’s rule, he can’t help but be angry for her.

And when Anna goes into pre-term labour, once again they are on alert, for the danger hasn’t passed. Alessio, Anna and Emma settle into life with a new born, and it’s nice to see them be a family, have that normalcy and familiarity.

And then comes the news of her father’s death and the re-emergence of her brothers Nikolai and Maxim changing the dynamics for everyone and in doing so re-affirming there allegiance to one another.

This book has it all alpha dominant, controlling, possessive man, one woman who is learning to find her way, romance, murder, madness, mayhem, revenge, vengeance, violence, adrenaline seeking suspense, friendship, loyalty, twists, turns, truths and betrayals.

This story is told from different POV, it will take you on a wild ride, having you turning page after page. This book had me from beginning to end. This author definitely knows how to write and I’ll be coming back for more.

And those s*x scenes, the trust they built between themselves was bittersweet, when they finally admitted to each other there love for the other, the scenes had all of the feels especially there happily ever after, they are the best!

What I loved about this book was that it was the perfect blend of strangers getting to know each other via an arranged marriage and an action packed mafia life. Alessio is the Italian Don and has a child who needs a mother. But the marriage is for an alliance between the Italians and Russians. Anna is a beautiful soul after all the suffering she had to suffer at the hands at her father and then after her marriage. There is plenty of drama and action. This is not boring. The story begins immediately with an important scene. There are twists and turns, dangerous surprises and a scary reunion of sorts. This is a must read. I highly recommend it. On to book two.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed
Haunting
Page-turner
Romantic
Realistic
Twisted
Unpredictable
Wonderful characters

Why should you read this book?🤔
👇🏻
It has those “Ruthless” 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

👍🏻 Omg! I literally had goosebumps by the cliffhanger of this book! This book is really well written and for her debut author Kiara has me in love with her work! I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book! I loved her writing style and character and story build up! 🖤

👍🏻 The story starts with a ruthless beginning, one would expect from a mafia romance, but there is definitely something about this books that keeps you reading more...it keeps building the anticipation!🙈

👍🏻 The book is a short read with 90 pages but will be continued in the next book, and I am holding my breath, quite literally, for it❤

👍🏻My recommendation: If you looking for a mafia romance, this book is definitely for you!

Anna and Alessio

New author to me. This was a arranged marriage, mafia, locked up virgin 18 year old. Where do I start? Good things Anna had a back bone or got one. And they get a sort of HEA even though the book ends not knowing what’s happening in the mafia. Some things that irked me, he marries her the day she turns 18 and then at home he just takes her V. No nice words, no hot scenes, nope just thrust and done. That one scene is the only time they come together for 8 months and then after 3 weeks of having a C-section he is just thrusting again. The characters have zero chemistry it isn’t a romantic love story - nope it is a mafia, kidnapping, story with mention of the rest. For me I needed more.

This book finds Anna, the abused daughter of Yuri Petrov who is the Russian Bratva Pakhan, and Alesso, the Italian Capo of his Vitale Mafia Family, who marry in order to strengthen their Russian and Italian Mafia Families from the Irish Mafia. After Anna finds she is pregnant, a plot with planned kidnapping and murder is disclosed. Their story is a well written dark romance with great characters, intrigue, abuse, violence, unexpected twists, suspense, and a difficult journey finding love.

This is my first book from this author and I am anxious to read more from her! Anna is a bratva princess and after years of abuse by her father, she is married off to Alesio, a NYC mafioso as a business move on her father's part. Alesio and Anna will soon learn to respect and love each other, making a good life for themselves and his daughter. However, this is short live because her father wants to harm her family and Alesio's fierce ruthlessness will come to play. Love this story and I can't wait to rea more about this mafia family. I volunteered to review this story.

This book was really good. I definitely recommend to anyone that love a good, forced marriage, mafia, drama, secrets, crazy plot twist, unbreakable brother bond, or just a good old mafia romance book. Once I started reading this book it was so hard to put down. Since it was so hard to put down, I was up until 1:30 in the morning reading this book and part of the second book. This is a really good series and its very addicting. I would love for a fourth book to come out and it have her brothers in it more.

I enjoyed Anna and Alessio’s story and all the suspense that came along as Alessio tries to figure out who wants to hurt his family. Even though Anna’s had a bad childhood growing up, she’s still a strong character and her instant bond with Alessio’s daughter was just perfect. Can’t wait to read more as the ending left off on a good cliffhanger.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Kiara Morgan; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is the 1st book in the Vitale Family Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Anna & Alessio; she is a mafia princess abused by her father, then he arranged a marriage for her to Alessio, another mafia family to merge the two families.

Had potential but fell flat

Anna and Alessio’s story had potential but both allowed themselves to be manhandled way too much. Alessio was supposed to be in his mid thirties and a big Capo but he came off as a young hot head. Not a seasoned leader. Anna was a pawn throughout the whole book. I really wanted to enjoy the story but there were so many off putting moments. It wasn’t a terrible book but it also wasn’t mind blowing. I won’t continue the series.

First book to be read by the author Kiara Morgan. I do not know why I waited so long to read this, but I am glad I finally read it today!! I absolutely love the herione Anna. Her maid told her she was stronger than she thought, and she proved it throughout the entire story. I loved Alessio and Anna relationship because the saw the intimacy on a emotional, and mental level. Great read!!

What an emotional read this was. Alessio and Anna definitely had an unconventional start to their relationship, but such is life in the Mafia. Poor Anna has been thru so much in her short life, but she is definitely tougher than she is made out to be. This read is full of everything I want, action, suspense, love and an amazing story line.

I was pleasantly surprised by this story! I was expecting it to be more Sopranos style but it was not and I loved that! The bond that both main characters have with their siblings is just the best even if not the healthiest. I really love how the story progressed and I am looking forward to book 2.

great story

I have never read anything by this author but I am glad I chose this book. I loved the relationship and the story. Although some parts of the book had grammatical errors, the book still had me hooked wanting to read more. There were some areas that seemed a little rushed but overall a great story of the young virgin given to the mafia boss and falling in love.

I love a good mafia story. This one has so much potential but so much is missing. I almost pit it down when I noticed the first misspelling on the first page but kept going. There are so many errors that the editor should have caught that just threw me off over and over again. If you can get past those it’s okay. I feel like so many questions are left unanswered.
