She has matrimony on her mind … but not necessarily for herself.
As summer slips in over the countryside, Melinda’s focused on giving her farmhouse the facelift of a lifetime and preparing for Prosper’s first Founders Day festival. Her to-do list gets longer when Horace’s great-niece suddenly needs a wedding venue. Melinda and her friends vow to give Jen a celebration she’ll never forget ... but will Jen be the only one to make a commitment?
Love may be in bloom, but things in Prosper aren’t so simple and sweet. Auggie’s grand plan to expand the co-op has many residents seeing red, and the stability of Prosper Hardware could hang in the balance. And when a beloved community member is sidelined, an unexpected visitor is determined to pick up the slack.
Through it all, Melinda has to confront her past and consider her future. Can she make the right choices to secure the life she wants? Don’t miss the final installment in this heartwarming series!
Melanie Lageschulte is the author of the "Growing Season" women's fiction series. She grew up on an acreage in northern Iowa with a menagerie of four-footed friends. She’s spent much of her professional life telling the stories of Iowa and its residents, including several years as a features reporter and editor for the Des Moines Register. Melanie holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in American history from the University of Iowa.
Having read this entire set of books I can say I’m so sorry they’re finished. As I read along I felt as though I knew these characters and genuinely cared for them and their storylines. I became invested in the story and loved reading about this woman who found herself, her voice, and her power and vulnerability after moving back home. She isn’t perfect, her life has heart-breaking moments but I was so sorry to finish that last book knowing this portion of the story had ended. I am excited to see what new stories arise in Prosper!
What a cute series! Sad its over, but enjoyed every book!.I felt like I had met every person in the series! Sometimes just need some down to earth stories that you can relate to!Just great relaxing stories that involve no mystery, violence, or over the top romance .Just real life!.
The storyline is fantastic small community real. The farm life with cats, dogs, sheep, donkey, opened gates, squeaky screen doors; & best of all love of neighbors & love between two people taking their love slow & easy savoring their time together until he next step of commitment.
The characters are believable for small town doctors, veterinarians, store owners, Mayor, librarian, et. al. are alk there with the main character a young woman who came Home. I loved this book, it's Home to me as well. Melinda came Home &found her love in community, Parents, Aiden, Horace & finally Josh. Well done Ms Page Schulte. Great read.
This isn't the kind of books I normally read. No mystery, no exciting romance, no who did it... I was happy to see in this book that we are finally introduced to Craig, her fiancee' she broke up with years ago. Although the meeting didn't go as I thought it would, who would have thought someone could still carry so much resentment.
We finally see Susan and Cassie again, when Melinda makes a trip to Minneapolis.
Josh tells her that his mentor has died and the wife as offered Josh his practice, which will make him closer to his son. Melinda, of course, doesn't want him to go but yet won't tell him because it has to be his decision. Sometimes I just wanted to scream at Melinda.
Melinda gets a donkey in this book to add to her flock of animals. I just don't understand why the author felt in every book we had to hear about going and doing chores and how she did them. We already knew it in the first couple books.
I'm glad I finished the series. I kept hoping something exciting would happen but other than the shouting match with Craig, nothing ever did.
I hope the author will liven things up in her next books.

Now touted as the tenth and absolutely last visit to Prosper in the Seasons series, it is only marginally better than book 9. There is a bit more conflict with one business owner and long time friend making waves in town with an idea to compete with Melinda’s family business. There is an offer for Josh, and part of the book explores the ramifications if he takes it. So, a bit more depth here, but it still has the feeling of being the absolute last one. The predicted happy ending was right on cue. Certainly what we want to see in a series end. Ms Lageschulte states in the authors notes that she might revisit the town with a new character as the central protagonist, but that remains to be seen. Currently she is writing cozy mysteries, which for me is unfortunate, as I don’t ever want to read another one of those. I’ve had my fill of them and more.
This has been one of my favorite series and I'm sad that it's come to an end, even though all went well. I love all of the inhabitants of Prosper, although Augie definitely tried my nerves! There was young romance and old romance, and a great wedding at the end. And all the animals, from cats, dogs, chickens, sheep, and then a donkey all became a great part of the story, too! Hoping for a new series from Melanie, and hoping some of these people make an appearance in it, too.
Books 1 - 8 were good. 9 obviously didn’t get proofread, and felt like it had been rushed, overall. (Publisher pushing?) 10 was thin, more of the same, and really wearing reading about Melinda’s constant inability to deal with life. The outcome - of a series of 10, should have been tidier. One was hoping for a happy wrap-up. I was drawn into this series because it somewhat emulates my lifestyle, but the last two books reminded me why I am NOT a series reader. Few authors can pull off series writing.
I became hooked on this series with the first book. The characters are so real, and the story line hooks you almost as soon as you begin reading. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a series more. The author had a way of putting you right there with the characters and pulling you right in. I have to read more novels by this author. I highly recommend this series to others who enjoy a good read about real life and without even one vulgar word!
It's not that I didn't enjoy this book or series, I did. Some were much better than others. But, there are just a lot of farm and garden facts that are just not realistic. And what grown woman stays so clueless? Then there's the whole move here, can't move there, oh what shall I do...we can just see the back of Melindas hand against her forehead. My point is, I was always aware of the fiction, the untrue, so never got so involved in the storyline to believe for a minute these were real people.

I am a first time reader of your novels and it certainly won't be the last! I think this is the best series I have ever read! There are so many obstacles that Melinda Foster has to overcome and it takes a strong woman to conquer all the good and bad that she deals with. I love the closeness of her family and her "adopted family" and the way they share the burdens of life. Thank you for sharing your talent with us the readers.
This is one of my favorite Kindle series, set in rural Iowa in a small town, Melinda works at the hardware store and takes care of her farm. This story was similar to the previous 9 in the series but surprisingly the author chose to end with a quiet storyline rather than a big climax. I was a bit surprised but the story is so good I am happy with the author's choice.
A wonderful story to end the series. I enjoyed how the author based the books on the seasons of our life. It was heartwarming to get to know the characters and see that Melinda's life comes full circle. She comes back to the small town after family illness necessitated her return to work the family business after breaking her engagement. In this last book she realizes the feelings she's having and how they factor in her plans for the future.
So sorry to see the end of this series! Felt like you really know and care about this small community. So easy to picture living there. Refreshing to read their struggles and triumphs with a touch of reality and maybe just a touch of envy that life can be this simple and rewarding. Melinda and the rest are so well written that you want to live there too.
Love this series! I was so happy when Alexa told me it was available. Then I got to the end and it actually said THE END! Wait, whut?? Who proposes? How does Horace handle Wilber's passing? I guess all good things must come to end😊. Looking forward to your next book!
I loved this entire series. While each book stands on it's own, to read the entire series is a natural main character development Clean wholesome reading. Face the challenges & joys of life Melinda faces as she becomes part of her new Iowa life. I'm from N.E. Iowa & loved the realistic description of life there
Great wrap-up for a great series! So sorry to see a gently told story of interesting people (and pets) come to an end.
I'm grateful for the author's note that there will be more stories set in the Prosper area that may give glimpses of these people. I don't reread novels, but will probably reread this series when the next one is announced.
5 stars! The Most beautiful joyful series I ever read
I cried a little, I smiled and laughed a lot but mostly I sighed over this beautifully written series. I hated for it to end, Melinda Foster had become a cherished friend. Thank you Melanie for giving me these wonderful characters and incredible stories to read and enjoy.
This series brought back many happy memories of my own time with ownership of a farm . The clarity of hard decisions . heart warming and heart breaking poignant reflections on animal care and the helpfulness of a small community. Melinda and the entire cast of characters all lent their Grace to this series.
I so enjoyed this contemporary romance. This series was by far one of my top pick ever. The characters are so likeable and their rural town is waking up with anew life and all the possibilities that awaits. I hope Melanie Lageschulter decides to write more in this series, I know they will be wonderful.
This whole series has such a wholesome and heartwarming air. It is the perfect way to sit, relax, read and enjoy. I have had very few series that have so much joy and comfort. It is full of goodness and light.
I loved this series so much! I just can’t believe it’s over. All the characters and their stories were absolutely captivating. I really hope for more soon. The books are so good you just speed through them and it all went too fast. Bravo!
I have come to the end of the this series, and I'm sad, that it's over, though I'm glad the series ended on a happy note. I have so enjoyed all the characters and the rural settings in the small town of "Prosper"!
I so enjoy this series. I want to live in Prosper! The characters are down to earth country folks, heartwarming community members and have flaws and all. The animals are so charming you can't help but love them all . I can hardly wait for book 11!
Loved the last book in this series. I look forward to more books by the same author. Each book has been wonderful, exciting and fun. You could not ask for more.
Glad when #10 popped up on website.Ms Foster did a great job of winding up her series.Melanie finally feels totally at home after making the farm house her home little by little..
I loved reading all the Season novels focusing on the adventures of Melanie. I’m sad to know this series has come to an end before Melanie and Josh are married. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
Title: Firefly Season. Search text: firefly. No results. Great story, plenty going on, one wedding, on not-wedding, end of the book leaves a promise but makes me wait again??! Come on already.
I needed a break from the heavy reading and a friend suggested this series. Sweet reading, well thought out characters. I laughed out loud and I cried at times. This was my first experience with this author, it will not be the last
Was disappointed where she ended....10 books in...what's another....or a few more chapters. I know there another series directed at prosper..hope story line gets completed there.
Thank you Melanie Lageschulte for such a great series. I am sad to see it end I would have loved 10 more books. This book was so good and some good closure points. Melinda and Josh worked things out. This was a good book from start to finish.
