Tempest in a Teapot

A detective is assigned what seems like a slam dunk case. A young woman is found murdered in a stressed out former Marine's apartment. The vet is missing in action. The detective is distracted by her faltering romance with an FBI agent and her teenage sister's disappearance. Worse an abusive ex is assigned to partner with her on the murder.

This book has too much going on. The murder mystery is one, the sister's disappearance and secrets, another. Throw in her cold mother, criminal father, domestic violence, shaky romance and troubled friends and it gets to be too much. She is given far too much leeway in the sister's case to be plausible. The whole romance with the abusive cop being a secret is a laugh. Cop shops are incestuous. Everyone knows who is doing who. Especially when one of the party,'s cheats in his lovers bed with a court employee who gets knocked up. The end result was that Kate, the lead, is a drag and no empathy is generated for the victims.

Truly good read.

After completing 1st two books I could not stop reading. The final result is you have to buy further books. There is an aggregate of 5 books in the series and it's hard to stop as you get vested in the characters and the ending.

I had to find out what happed next. I am so intrigued by Detective Kaitlyn Carr, both her passion for her career and her expiring love with the sexy and sweet FBI Agent, Luke Gavinson. I finish them because of the plot.

This book was truly awful. "Girl Found" is never found; it just keeps going on and on. Doesn't anyone read the manuscript before publishing? It had so many grammatical errors, it was as if it was written by someone for whom English is a second language. Embarrassing!

GIRL FOUND is the fourth instalment in Kate Gable’s contemporary, adult DETECTIVE KAILYN CARR murder, mystery, suspense series focusing on LAPD Detective Kaitlyn Carr. GIRL FOUND should be not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of GIRL LOST

NOTE: There is a prequel novella GIRL HIDDEN that introduces some of the background, characters and players in the series.

SOME BACKGROUND: Kaitlyn Carr’s thirteen year old sister has been missing for several days, last seen when she was dropped off at home by the mother of a friend. From there, Kaitlyn’s sister’s whereabouts are unknown. Big Bear Lake is out of Kaitlyn’s jurisdiction but when a second thirteen year old girl goes missing, the FBI is called in to investigate bringing Kaitlyn’s current friends with benefits, FBI agent Luke Galvinson, back into her life.

Told from first person perspective (Kaitlyn) GIRL FOUND continues to focus on the hunt for Kaitlyn Carr’s missing thirteen year old sister Violet but as Kaitlyn struggles with the disappearance of her sister, our heroine begins to reflect on her own life, her family, and previous relationships, but one relationship in particular that involves a colleague and a secret affair.

Although not able to work directly on the investigation into her sister’s disappearance, Kaitlyn, along with FBI Special Agent Luke Gavinson begin to amass a large amount of information from Violet’s friends and fellow students, information that reveals several different sides to the sister she thought she knew.

Meanwhile, Kaitlyn is assigned a murder investigation when a body is found in a former Marine’s apartment, a Marine who is currently missing and the prime suspect. Believing the circumstance could be linked to a domestic dispute, Kaitlyn begins to interview the neighbor, a man whose story spins an unbelievable tale.

GIRL FOUND is the ongoing story of Detective Kaitlyn Carr, and her search for her sister; her tumultuous relationship with Agent Luke Gavinson; and our heroine’s assignment that often place her in direct communication with a former love, whose reputation is following a familiar curve. The premise is intriguing, suspenseful and engaging; the characters are charismatic; the romance is limited to as the story focuses on the professional life of our story line heroine. GIRL FOUND ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

This book was a waste of time. A very shallow plot, with no twists or complexity. Most of it is expressing the feelings of the protaganist. Very little action. Introduces the guilty party early on, never suggests any other potential suspects, nothing to suggest the investigation was thorough. Nothing to even really suggest that the protaganist is a good investigator. Just a a lack of substance and credibility. The side story of the missing sister is never resolved, apparently left for a follow up novel. I'll never know, as I won't be reading it.

How does this series have such a high rating?! Yet here I am, moving onto book 4 to get answers to the missing sister case that kicked off book 1… legit could have been one GOOD book with editing. 😑

Another exciting story of Kaitlyn's search for her sister. Lots of action from start to finish, with a few murders mixed in. An edge of the seat story. Looking forward to reading number 4.

Kaitlyns cases get more and more interesting even though there’s not much updates on her most important case, finding her sister. Looking forward to reading more in this series

A generous 3. I should have known when I first started reading it that this was a continuation novel, and the story would not be finished. I don't understand why authors do that...it really does not inspire me to want to pick up another book by the same author. I feel like it is giving you cheap popcorn just to sell you a $10 bottle of water afterwards. Even though I didn't like that fact, the rest of the story is ho hum. It is poorly written, and terribly edited. I found a number of errors that should have been picked up by someone who read it before publication. One day she is sobbing on Luke, and the next day sobbing on the lawyer saying she hadn't cried like that in a long time (the previous day is a long time?) There were errors in names, repeated sentences, incomplete sentences.....ugh! The author has definitely not spent much time with thirteen year olds...the level of sophistication in language is so unrealistic. There was a lot of fluff and nonsense to pad the pages....how about eliminate those and tell a good tight story? I really thought that the author was putting so much into what should be secondary that the main story got lost in the shuffle....and what is the main story? Nick and Jadine, or Violet? Suffice to say that I won't be picking up another novel by this author.

Edit once finished with series: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. HORRIBLE ENDING FOR FINDING VIOLET. The fact that these books went to print is crazy to me. I trucked through all 5 to find out what happened to violet. The author couldn’t even get the killer right. On one page she said it’s someone’s dad, the next page it is the person and not their dad. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. A waste of time a money.

This is the best one in the series so far, writing wise. Not nearly as many discrepancies as before but there are still some. This book doesn’t really talk much about Violet’s disappearance, it focuses more on a marine that is missing but somehow the main focus is still character development for Kaitlin. We get a lot of the old stuff but a good bit of new I for into her past. I thought the story of the marine was wrapped up kind of quickly and wasn’t the best solution but this book was definitely still good. If you’ve made it past the first two books it’s worth reading this one too.

As a retired teacher, I quickly came to the conclusion that this story had been written by a 12-year-old!
Too many one-sentence paragraphs. Too many boring conversations. Too much boring, and unnecessary, information. Too many juvenile errors in English grammar. Did anyone - even the author - proofread the book prior to publication? I, too, am an author (non-fiction), and would be embarrassed to publish anything as poorly written.
It is also, as almost always seems to be the case with modern authors, not a "series", but part of a "serial". There is a world of difference between the two. I was left with a number of questions -that will remain unanswered because I will not be purchasing another volume! I read it quickly, as, a lot of the time, I was simply "skimming and scanning".
I would write more - but cannot find my comments on the book!

I don’t know how this book was even published. The number of grammatical errors and general typos is atrocious. There are a ton of contradictions in character development between the first two books and this one, it almost feels like it was written by someone else who didn’t read the first two books!

Pass

Main female character is morose and completely unlikable. Additionally, the logic behind the reason for killing the female is irrational. Definitely not worth reading.

GIRL FOUND is the third book of Detective Kaitlyn Carr Mystery. While Kaitlyn’s sister, Violet, disappearance as well as another student from Violet’s school has not been solved in Big Bear Lake, Kaitlyn is afraid their disappearance may go into a cold case without many leads. Worried about that, Kaitlyn has another case to solve in LA of a college student found dead in a US marine’s apartment, who is now missing. Who killed the college girl in the apartment and why? Where is the marine who owns the apartment? Kaitlyn’s boss assigns her ex-partner/boyfriend to the case as well. Now, we also get to know why Kaitlyn and her ex-partner/boyfriend broke up. This is as much a novel about the characters as well as the disappearance of each missing person. We get to know all about the characters, and we get to see how Kaitlyn’s mind works, and how she goes about taking the clues solving cases. Not everything is fun and games, a lot of personal issues, and family dysfunctions comes to the fore. This book is gripping, suspenseful, and gratifyingly unpredictable detective work. The plot is thrilling, with a twist that knocked me sideways, swiftly followed by another one that knocked me back in the other direction. There were plenty of surprises and Kate Gable kept me on my toes. I was thoroughly engrossed in this book and hated to put it down. Kate Gable has an ability to make you feel as if you were right there watching the events unfold. I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait to read the next book. This is book three in A Detective Kaitlyn Carr Mystery Series. Kaitlyn's sister Violet is still missing and so is her friend Natalie, but now they have found clothing and other items that she was wearing the night that she disappeared then found Natalie's clothes folded the same wait neatly in a bag, were they kidnapped or had they run away?

When a woman is found dead in a apartment owned by a marine Kaitlyn goes to investigate who killed her but nothing is adding up so Kaitlyn will have to think out side of the box to catch her killer. She gets teamed up with her ex Thomas and he tells her that he wants her back, but then he shows his violent side again.

After talking to another of Violets friends she discovers a whole new side of her sister that she knew nothing about, but then gets a call and has to go back to LA.

I absolutely love this book and series and I can't wait to read the next book. I couldn't put this book down as it was a real page turner that takes you in right from the start and you have to keep reading until the last one. Kate's books have so much depth to them and have characters that you can engage with and you also feel like you are there going through everything yourself.

Nick, a marine, is missing and a dead girl, Janinie, is found in his apartment. Did Nick kill Janine? Where is Nick? Kaitlyn gets the case. Unfortunately, her boss also assigns her old flame, Thomas, to the case. Thomas and Kaitlyn do not have a good history so working together is not something she wants to do.

Meanwhile, her sister, Violet, and a school friend are both still missing. There wasn't much in this installment about that case. There hasn't been much progress made and it is quickly approaching the dreaded status of a cold case.

I love this series and look forward to seeing how it all wraps up. I'm dying to know what has happened to Violet. I am curious to see if Kaitlyn's new relationship with Luke turns into anything promising. This is a hard to put down series and well worth the read.

Although there is a prequel novella titled Girl Hidden in this Kaitlyn Carr “Girl” series it is not mandatory to read it before tackling the rest of the series. With the other five books in the series it is necessary (or at least much more enjoyable and less confusing) to read them in order as the five novels have a key single story line that runs through all five books as well as one other story line that is featured (and concludes) in each of the novels. These five books are really one large (over 1300 pages) novel divided into five separate volumes sold individually. That said the “Girl” series with Girl Missing, Girl Lost, Girl Found, Girl Taken and Girl Forgotten have an interesting, realistic female protagonist and page turning plots. There is some extraneous content in the novels that could have been removed in editing to make the novels into even tighter page turners.

I think the author has had horrible experiences with men, because every single one she's included in her books is an asshole.

The sister and a friend are missing now, and we are nowhere near finding out what really happened. You could be thinking, why if you are already in book 3? Turns out that everyone in the LA police department is unprofessional and incompetent.

The side story is another murder for Detective Kaitlyn Carr and doing almost nothing besides talking and pissing people off, she ends up solving it and taking all the glory. Let me remind you she didn't do too much besides talking with suspects and the suspect doing all the work to get them in trouble.

Don't even think about trying the audiobook, it's the worst narrator ever. Total waste of money.

Girl Found continues the story of Detective Kaitlyn Carr as she is still searching for her missing sister Violet as her job allows. The FBI is called in to investigate the disappearance of Violet as well as another young girl. Kaitlyn is reunited with FBI agent Luke Galvison. A new case is assigned to her which involves the murder of a coed in her apartment believed to have been committed by a Marine. This well written book has ever increasing layers of plot complexity and will be continued in the next book which is Girl Taken.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Full bodied suspense

The story picks up with a new case and new developments in the relationship front, but no real new finds in the case of her missing sister. This series does a great job of showing her work as a detective and the work of view of her role as a sister and victim family member. The insight into her former relationship and personal views on trust was fascinating. The book developed the roles of an ADA and the FBI agent Luke more. Violet is an intriguing character as she has no real time in the story as an active character, but all the pieces of her personality that others provides is quite interesting. Can’t wait to see what the next book brings!

This book kept me turning the pages and sucked me in. I was confused as to why so much time was spent on the Marine case when the title clearly states Girl Found. Her sister is missing and silly me thought the Girl (would be) Found. Nope. The Marine story wrapped up bluntly, in a rush. Then I sat up in bed to find out what happened to the sister and turned the page…. Thank you for reading. What? My phone just about sailed out the window. I will never get sucked in by this author again. Looking at the books in this series - the sister seems to be missing for all 5 books and doesn’t appear to be GIRL FOUND in #5 either.

Good story, but...

This is the third in the series that I've read. The stories are interesting and engaging, and I find myself not wanting to put it down because I need to know what's next.

However. The formatting on my Kindle is really wonky, and that's annoying, but minor. A much bigger gripe is the awful grammar and punctuation. My brain automatically fixes the sentences instead of taking in the meaning, and then I have to read it over again. (That part is probably a me problem, but bad grammar is bad grammar.)

Three books in, I still don't like Kaitlyn very much. But I don't have to like every character to enjoy the book. I just wish it were edited better.

So many grammar errors. So many inconsistencies and the story. I don’t understand the whole dad was a drug dealer and shot in the stomach twice but they think it was a suicide. Also he was super high up but they have zero money. Her mom changed the room but then later she states how it’s never been changed? So much retelling of something we know so much already it’s exhausting. I think I skimmed most of the book to be honest so much unimportant details. I read in another review you only find out what happened to her sister by the 5th book. Not sure I can make it though. Only read this far to get to my 52 books for the year since they are such easy fast reads lol.

I am thoroughly hooked on this series. The mystery and suspense is so exciting. Kaitlyn is still looking for her missing sister and the case seems to be growing cold. At the same time, she’s working on solving another murder case. There are so many twists and turns and dead ends. And the ending was a surprise. On the romance side, I’m anxious to see where her romance with Luke goes. And I am especially interested in reading more about Thomas. *this honest review is based on a complimentary copy from the author*

2 1/2 stars. I really have mixed emotions about this one. Overall, the book was okay up until the ending when it abruptly just stopped. (I read the book on my Kindle and literately rebooted it several times to ensure that it loaded properly. That the entire book had loaded) I mean, there was no real ending, just a starting place for the author's next book in the series. Could be one of the worst novel endings in literary history. And no, I will not be seeking out the next offering in the series.

WOW!!!! I can't believe how this book ended. My jaw damn near hit the floor with all the twists and turns in this book and in this series alone. I absolutely love it. And cannot wait to see what's going to happen next with Detective Kaitlyn Carr and her sisters case and Kaitlyn and Luke. This series and this book are a MUST READ!! Kaitlyn is still searching fir her missing sister and has found out things she didn’t know about her. But she still has cases to solve so that she keeps her job. As she works things are getting interesting and intriguing. But at times things seem to come up with dead ends still she keeps going. She has new characters that she’s talking to and even becoming closer to someone. Will she find the answers she needs? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Kate Gable brings us another great installment. Girl Found carries on the search for Violet, as Kaitlyn is pulled towards another case this time involving a murdered girl and a missing marine. Can Kaitlyn get to the bottom of the case even though everything seems very simple. Nothing is as it seems. Another great read. I was lucky to receive an advanced readers copy in return for my honest review. Cannot wait for the next one

This is the third book in this series. Kaitlyn is struggling to work cases as a Detective in LA and also she’s trying to find her missing sister back home in Big Bear Lake. If this isn’t hard enough her ex boyfriend has also popped up to help her with her latest case. Things didn’t end well and Kaitlyn was actually punched by him. Will his temper have disappeared or will it rear itself again. There’s lots going on keeping you engrossed from page one.
