I love the King's Menagerie! ❤️
The first part of this story is awesome. It's a little like a Cinderella retelling. Nadir is a sweetheart. He seems a little oblivious, but he's adorable. I can't imagine the shock and upheaval of finding out what he found out about his parents.
Berkant is hot af. He's a badass. It's sweet and sad that he and Shafiq can bond over both losing their wives and Berkant his baby. I love how quickly they bonded over mutual understanding. It was super cute that Nadir made the first move.
I was not prepared for the 3rd part. 😅 Ender is sweet and smart. It's adorable that he makes up poems with his brother the first time they get to hang out. I was not expecting taboo from a Megan Derr book but it's well written to where it doesn't seem weird and it's just sweet and hot. It was cute when Berkant called them Shefiq's matching set. I love that they switch places. That cracked me up.
It's so funny when Berkant is at the back door of Ramsey's cabin. He knew exactly what he'd do. 😂 It's so sweet that Jankin already loved him. The author saved the best for last. They're all so hot together. 🔥

This is a very enjoyable set of five connected short stories that tell the tale of how King Shafiq finds each member of his harem. As the book opens, Shafiq is still grieving the death of his wife, although it has been a few years. He is a just and kind king who goes through his life, caring for his only son and heir. Although lonely, he doesn't realize he is open to love again until he slowly begins to meet each man. These stories are exciting with action, intrigue, betrayal, and passion. The interconnected love stories are just beautiful. I have spent many happy hours reading in the Tales of Tavamara and this is another highly recommended book.

I only read the first part Mongoose. My enthusiasm died after that. It started out really good. Cinderella-esk with a son being wickedly worked to death by his adoptive mother only for the king to notice his suffering and help. I was very into it. I love it when the MC is so love starved they think they don't deserve it. Then he stood up for himself, a guard called him a mongoose and story over. That was it. There was the potential for so much more. His biological parents could've wound up being important dignitaries from another country. He might've had to choose between a loving new life with his parents and his new love, the king. So much drama just tossed away! Whhhyyyy? 😭

I was not going to rate this book because I stopped reading after the second part. But I’m so annoyed that it did not CLEARLY DISCLOSE this is an MM+.
I loathe books that aren’t clear on this.
If I choose to read an MM+ then I have no right to rate it low. But if I accidentally read an MM+ because it wasn’t marked as one you will know my wrath.

I have looked at this book over the years and never read it. I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the 5 stories that were all tied together. Each story was unique and the last one was amazing. Definitely recommend reading.

I read the Lynx forever ago so reading about and getting to know the rest of the harem was very enjoyable
