Ok meri taraf se is novel ko 1 star....
1 star is liye Kate ga kyu k story bhot basic thi Matlab bilkul basic aur predictable thi koi khaas kahani nai thi
2 star Katey ga zaberdasti k spiritualism ka..Mujhe religious topics zaberdasti add kiye howe lag rahe the like writer puri tarha se apne thoughts ko express nai kar paye hain,wo chahati thi bhot deep jana but wo us tarha se express nai kar paye aur jis tarha k topics per unhu ne baat ki hai aur jis tarha se ki hai ,I think unko khud itni knowledge nai hain deen ki....bhot basic baatein thi like talaq kyu zaruri hai yeh samjhne k liye muslim hona zaruri nai hai koi atheist koi gair musalmaan bhi ache se samjh sakta hai koi rarely bewakoof insaan hoga jisko yeh baat samaj na aye aur iska jawab sara dr.zakir ki videos se copy paste kiya gya tha ..writer ka apna vision nai tha kuch bhi ...Matlab qari relate nai kar pata hai in topics se jaise peer kamil mai bilkul feel howa tha emotions Bahar aye tha but yaha sab zaberdasti lag raha tha pata nai kyu.

3 star Kate ga makafat e amal...seriously i mean seriously writer ne kya soch k likha tha makafat amal ....RJ ki bhen k sath jo howa wo Rj ka makafat amal tha? Bhen ka kya kasoor tha ...I think hamare writers ko is soch se bahir ana chaiye bhen Maa se aghe badhna chaiye ..

4th star: mana k fictional hai but phir bhi thora toh lihaaz karen koi 3 ya 4 Saal mai itna badha scholar nai ban sakta chahe kitna bhi iq na ho aur Upper se celebrity scholar 🙂...aur haanam ne ek Saal tak usko dekha nai...uske itne followers the naam tha but hanaam ko kahi uska chehra nai dikha ek Saal tak?..aur wo kyu nai deakhna chahati thi chehra uska koi realistic reason de sakti thi writer aur end was terrible

Mai is novel ko criticize karne baithi toh ek book mai bhi likh hu ...I don't know instagram pe yeh famous kyu Hai itni? Or may bhi it was not my cup of tea

"Woh chahe nafrat kare ya mohabbat, lekin shart yeh hai ki mujhse hi kare"

translation -whether she hates or loves, but the condition is that it should only be for me.

.my thoughts.
honestly sulphite would not be the worst book I ever read after all, it has its own speciality that I actually liked and enjoyed.

I cannot agree on the fact that it was a copy of peer-e-kamil. I mean was it similar to an extent? yes of course it was.

But people saying that it's actually a copy makes it immensely sad, because this book did have an originality that I adored and loved.

I don't really want to give you an exact comparison, because I didn't liked peer-e-kamil that much, but I loved the way it delivered the message it wanted to, while Sulphite on a romantic aspect was so much more better, they had interactions and debate, and just a 5-6 years move on (not me saying 'just' as if it's small but lmao), so I can agree yeah they talked had a conversation so of course they might have fallen in love.

Even though I have rated both the books the same rating because of two different reasons is so crazy but who cares.

Author actually had such good originality but sadly till the end it was grasped with the similar concept, but I actually appreciate the way she's written from the start, the scenes when fmc teaches and he doesn't listens, and when in university they meet again, ugh!! i actually loved their conversations , and the scene where the photo was taken by Murtaza😭🫶 because that scene was actually so good?!?!

after the marriage again there were more scenes that I adored, and they had such good interactions afterwards excuse me?!?! I was in love! And the way RJ thought that 'how will she fall in love with me when she keeps sleeping' i burst out laughing😭🙏

First half 5 stars worthy and second half was predictable 2.5 stars worthy 😬
I didn’t find it similar to peer-e-kamil, I mean okay there were little déjà vu scenes but just because it was based on “coming towards Islam” trope it doesn’t make it “peer-e-kamil” ki copy🤷🏻‍♀️

Looks like the writer is so inspired by umera ahmed's "peer-e-kamil" that she decided to write her own version of it. The writing style was very immature, but considering that it was the writer's first ever book, I'll let it slide.

The only thing I liked about the book was whenever that question-answer session thing happened because I learned a bit or two from it. Another thing this book taught me is to never pick up a book to read without reading reviews and I thank it for this.

Overall this book was a mess and throughout the book i felt like i was reading a 15 year old's version of peer-e-kamil.

Third class, badly written, copy of peer e kaamil. She copied the exact same sequence of events. He despises her, takes a major step to spite her and then in his guilt, comes towards the right path. But none of it carried any substance or weight. Things were just.....happening? Like the nikah which wasn't a nikah Bec a) he wasnt a Muslim and b) she never said qubool hai. Chu- qisam ki book thi y'all hype up anything

"I want to express my dissatisfaction with this book. Firstly, I noticed that the author has copied the entire story of Pir-e-Kamil. Secondly, I didn't find the main character, RJ, likeable and relatable. Lastly, I couldn't understand why the writer chose to kill RJ's brother at the end of the story. The plot twist didn't make any sense to me. However, I must admit that I did enjoy the classroom debate scenes in the novel."

2.5 stars for now
First of all this book was so much inspired by Peer e Kamil but that's okay everyone has the freedom to be inspired since everything is a copy of a copy of a copy in this world, It got problematic for me since I have read Peer kamil so the whole plot felt quite predictable and basic to me like there was no thrill in what's going to happen next
Secondly there were a few things that I didn't really like in this book for instance the concept of sulphite so in this book. Okay I got it RJ was a sulphite but Hanam couldn't be named as a sulphite keeping in view that everyone else in the story was declared bromide. (Like the kind of intellectual Hanam held can be seen in so many people around us)
Another thing I didn't like in the story was how the wrongdoings of Mickey and Rj fell upon their sisters(when they got divorced etc the boys started thinking that because they character assassinated Hanam, it all happened to their sisters), in Islam no parent sibling friend life-partner or child has to pay for someone else's deeds so that concept was disturbing to me.
Plus when Hasham died his whole personality role even the name was given to his step brother which was such injustice to not only Hasham but also has step brother.
There were a few good concepts in the story as well but I didn't find most of the things very unique. It all felt too common nothing felt very thought provoking.

Sulphite marks my first read of 2025 and I must say I'm not disappointed at all to read it.
Whilst the storyline slash plot is quite cliché & dramatic (I get you all) here comes a but, BUT the concept overall is quite intriguing. It wasn't the storyline or the characters that had me on chokehold most of the time but the concepts discussed (yes the long paragraphs that people usually not read) Infact, a lot things in this novel were thought provoking and have you staring up at the ceiling at 2 in the morning. So yes, if it's in your TBR do give it a try. I'm sure you'll share the same sentiments as I.

The Male lead was pretty interesting, a well written character!
Everything else was along the usual Urdu novel storylines....

It’s a 3.2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me bcz of the characters like Hasham, Hanam, Rohan and a few others. I couldn’t ignore the weird resemblance between Sulphite and Peer‑e‑Kamil (I mean who doesnt right?) Till the very end I kept spotting similarities just in a slightly different way.

Maybe it was inspired, I wont comment on her writing style, but some scenes honestly felt really immature. The story itself was good but the Islamic touch imo felt kind of forced BUT i read some and it was touching ngl🙏🏻

The ending felt rushed like everythng was suddenly going in Rohan’s favor way too quickly (smjh se bhr)

But that last scene, where Rohan sang for Hanam in the rain……HOLYYYY SH… that was SO romantic 😭😭 if there had been a guitar too it wouldve been or zyada ROMANTIC 😭🩷 Couldnt love em enough honestly.

And how could I forget about Hashammmm man? This guy is literally Allah Miyan ki gaye. I cried at his part (ykwim) I rlly cried. No Jordan could ever take his place tbh. He’s Angelman🪽

I’d choose Hasham over any other man in this book for sure👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏻

I’ve heard very mixed opinions about Sulphite. At first, it might give off Peer-e-Kamil vibes, but as the story unfolds, it takes a very different direction. While there are some surface similarities, calling it a copy feels unfair,Hanam is nothing like Imama, and Rohan’s character is quite distinct from Salar.
I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Hanam; there are moments when I really admire her, and others when I don’t quite connect with her choices. On the other hand, Hasham completely won me over, his character and his bond with Rohan were genuinely heartwarming.
At times, the story felt a bit dragged, like hasham's step sibling one part feels a little extra .personally, I would have preferred to see Elif and Rohan together, as I found them more compatible. Still, the book has its fair share of heartwarming scenes, even if some moments felt slightly off. Overall,Sulphite was a educational and decent one time read.

I recently finished reading Sulphite by Noor Rajpoot, a novel that evoked a mix of emotions, ranging from admiration to frustration. It’s a book that kept me engaged enough to finish its 445 pages in just three days, but at times, I found myself cringing at the writing and narrative choices. Overall, I’d give it a solid 3 stars—a balance between its merits and shortcomings.

The story explores themes of redemption, spirituality, and self-discovery, often compared to Umera Ahmed's Peer-e-Kamil. While I disagree that Sulphite is a direct copy, there are undeniable parallels, particularly in the "coming towards Islam" trope. However, the book does attempt to carve its own identity, especially with its unique seminar and question-answer segments, which I found to be some of its strongest moments. These discussions provided thoughtful insights and logical reasoning on religious topics, which were genuinely enlightening.

The first half of the book was captivating, deserving a 5-star rating. It set up the characters, conflicts, and emotional arcs beautifully, keeping me hooked. However, the second half faltered, feeling predictable and overly dragged. The pacing slowed, and certain plot twists lacked depth, making it a 2.5-star experience. For instance, the tragic event involving RJ’s brother felt more like a forced shock value rather than a meaningful twist.

The writing style reflects the inexperience of a debut author. At times, the narrative felt juvenile, and certain spiritual elements seemed shoehorned rather than seamlessly integrated. While the intention to discuss Islamic principles is commendable, the execution lacked the depth and emotional weight of its inspirations. The dialogue, especially around serious topics, often felt like regurgitated material from popular sources, which diluted its impact.

That said, the relationship dynamics between Umm-e-Hanam and Ruhaan Haider Jabeel were intriguing, albeit inconsistent. The “sulphites and bromides” analogy, while abstract, added an interesting layer to the narrative. Yet, the resolution of their story felt rushed and unrealistic—becoming a scholar-celebrity within three years stretched believability.

For those who appreciate stories of spiritual awakening and redemption, Sulphite offers an engaging, albeit flawed, reading experience. It's a decent start for Noor Rajpoot, and I hope she continues to refine her craft, focusing on deeper, more cohesive storytelling in future works.

Despite its imperfections, Sulphite delivers moments of reflection and learning, particularly for readers interested in Islamic themes. It’s not a book I’d revisit, but I can appreciate its intent and some of its standout moments. "Sulphites are not bromides"—a fitting metaphor for a novel that tries to be unique but struggles to escape comparisons.

**SPOILER ALERT**

Okay, so first of all, I must say that the story didn’t seem exceptionally remarkable to me — it felt rather basic overall. Now, if I go into detail:

The story seemed to aim at portraying:

1. The struggles of lower middle-class life
2. An atheist embracing Islam
3. The transformation from enemies to lovers
(Perhaps there were other elements too, but these felt like the major ones to me.)

What I liked:

The relationship between RJ and Hisham

RJ’s acceptance of Islam and the doctor’s explanation in response to Rohan’s question

Later, Rohan answering other people’s questions at Al-Noor in the light of Islam.
(I appreciated that the author made an effort to bring the topic back towards Islam.)

What I did not like:
In my opinion, the author wanted to convey many things, but did not manage to explain any of them thoroughly. There was a sense of haste in everything.

The first and most unrealistic part was RJ’s education. From what I researched, it is not possible for someone from a commerce background to do a master’s and MPhil in a science subject in the way portrayed. Was he doing a double master’s at the same time? I’m still confused about that.

From the very beginning, the enmity between RJ and Hanam felt forced — as if they were deliberately made enemies. Some of their encounters seemed entirely baseless, along with RJ’s unnecessary attitude. It felt like the author was trying to portray him as something extraordinary by showing unrealistic traits, which to me came across as unconvincing. And then, suddenly, the topic of RJ’s engagement was brought up but never concluded.

The story was heading in a somewhat acceptable direction when RJ began moving towards Islam, but even there, some implausible events were shown. I personally don’t believe that someone can become a scholar in such a short time after conversion, no matter how high their IQ.

Now coming to another major turning point — RJ’s feelings for Hanam. When did they develop? How did they develop? This could have been shown much better.

Their marriage, and the fact that Hanam’s family so easily accepted everything despite knowing the full situation, seemed quite strange and unrealistic to me. I also felt that women were portrayed as overly dependent in this story (for example, Hanam and her mother).

There were also unnecessary characters who had little to no significance. Jordan is the prime example. The author showed his and his mother’s struggles, yet when he kind of getting everything together author left him to live his life under another person’s name and identity. Because of this, Mahi, Hisham, and Jordan all suffered from injustice.

It felt as though the author wanted to present deep and meaningful ideas but got lost in the process of writing. Nothing seemed to be in the right place, and there was an impression of a forced attempt to make things relatable

This was so disappointing. And people saying it's not similar to peer e kamil probably didn't read it right. Ok the main story was different but the important milestones of the story was the same.

1. Salar and Rohaan are both very smart . Not normal level smart but extremely intelligent that no one in there school, college cones close. Also rohaan had to had posters of other women just because salar did. Thankful he didn't copy salar in his suicidal tendencies.

2. Both Immama and Hanam both are conservative.

3.Both couples get a nikah for some reason when they were young.

4 Both think their respective husbands are dead.

5 Salar and rohaan both fall in love with their wives when they are away from them.

6 Both get married again not knowing who the person is second time ( except rohaan)

7.Both get a mentor who teaches them about Islam. In salar's case it's his doctor friend furkan who takes him to the scholar. And in rohaan's case it's two in one t, the doctor and scholar are the se person.

But Peer e kamil is way better. When salar changes you can feel it and also the way imama accepts him in the end is so heart touching. In comparision here the conclusion just happens after a long rant from her sister.

Coming to the rest of the story which is not similar , we have one more brother who wants to marry Hanam and also one classfellow to loves her and also rohaan' friend was also intrested in her. (Too many people) .

I also don't understand how this book jumps from point a to point b. Like hasham liked Hanam and even proposed to her she said no and then this brother said he loves her so he without feeling any thing just arranges their nikah. But before he knew rohaan is obsessed with her (and also knew about their nikah)and thinks she is dead but he doesn't tell him he knows where she is. And Hanam's family just accepts this and fools Hanam in to getting married knowing what rohaan did caused her to have a mental breakdown. How can they do that, didn't they cared about Hanam.

Lastly personality wise Rohaan is Salar Lite with way less charm and charisma and Hanam is not good Enough to be imama's shadow.
In the end hasham dies and his half brother takes his place and name like why couldn't he have his own identity while being there for the family. What's up with that.

Lovedddd ittt!!! Amazing🤍
My most fav characters were HASHAM JABEEL and ROHAN JABEEL.
I really loved Hasham Jabeel and Maheen Hamdan's story. I wanted them both to be together sooo much. But he dies. And I cried my heart out on his death.
"Hasham Jabeel ko Maheen Hamdan se muhabbat bhale hi na ho magar aqeedat bohat thi"
"Yeh mat kehna ke Maheen Hamdan ne Hasham Jabeel ko maaf krdiya hai. Mein chahta hu ke woh mujhe kabhi maaf na kre. balke nafrat kre"
"Log zinda reh kr fatah krte hain. Magar tumne toh mar kr sab kuch fatah kr diya"
I think on of my main reasons behind rating this novel 5 stars is Hasham Jabeel and his and Maheen Hamdan's love story🩵
I also loved RJ and Umme Hanam's love story. Their love story was so beautiful and so precious. The transformation from RJ to Rohan Bin Haider Jabeel. Also their whole story and how he loved her sooo much.
My heart also ached for Hasham as he loved Hanam so much. But I wanted him and Maheen to be together. I wanted him to accept Maheen's love for him. he may have liked Hanam before but I think he also liked Maheen (as he said as well "mujhe maheen hamdan se muhabbat na sahi magar aqeedat zaroor hai). I think he liked her more than he thought. And if he wouldn't have been bounded by so many different things, I think he would've given his love a chance and I think he would have loved her so much. But then he died as well😭
I also liked Elf's character and her love for RJ was so beautiful as well. I felt sad for her as well. But not as much as I felt for Hasham.
RJ and Hanam were made for each other and nobody could've come between them🫶
"Mujhe hooron ki khwahish nahi rahi Haanam"
My most fav scene is when he sung "Wajah Tum Ho" for her in the rain
"Kya jaane tu mere iraade..."

Well i have mixed emotions about this book. I started Sulphite with so much excitement and i'm not gonna lie it did disappoint me. Firstly i see why people compare this to peer e kamil. It's basically the same storyline and i mean the characters and their development throughout is the same. Reading this i got the deja vu feeling like i've read this somewhere. So for someone who has read peer e kamil don't read this at any cost cuz you're gonna be very bored. RJ's character is the same as Salar. I don't wanna compare these two books but how can i not its the sameeee😭😭😭
RJ aka Rohail Jabail is a spoilt brat he's from a feudal typa family in multan. The only person he gets along with is Hasham his cousin who is more like his cousin. Now here comes the female lead umme hanam. Oh my god this lady got on my nerves so much. So yeah she's from a not so settled background she's an orphan and the eldest of three so she the weight bearer of the family. She decides to teach for three months in a college due to some desperation and there she meets the famous RJ. Now one thing i noticed was that RJ now is a famous singer but hanam here has never seem to see him on TV. Her siblings are die hard fans but she doesn't seem to recognize him.Well, it got interesting at the end and emotional too. Hasham and Mahi's story really shattered my heart. RJ and Hanam get their happy ending but what about Hasham and Mahi💔💔
I will just like to say Hasham ko marna zaroori tha kyaaaa

I must say Salar's Aura hits Different

Yeah, I read it after my other most favourite urdu novels, but here am not going to say that its similar to peer e kamil, though its one of my favourites novel. But the readers who are sulphites✨ they really feel the importance of words, meaning, the message which a writer is trying to convey to readers, they will never use to say that it's similar to other characters or any more.

Instead of comparing it to other novels, try to understand what the important message it is conveying.

Here I wanna say that it's a good beginning of a younger writer, should be appreciated if she continues it in same way of preaching Islam.
The most favourite and inspiring aspect is that it shows us that being a Muslim we should be aware of our religion and its worth, and its also tells us that life is completely a journey of practice and challenging embrace it and just move on.

Okay so this was a genuine bookstagram inspired book, and i bought it just because of all the hype but actually regretting the decision now …
The first 30% book was amazing the characters were so good in the start.
And in the 60% book was supposed to be end but writer dragged it just to give each character an ending.
Don’t know why .
The communication between the main characters was so good in the start 40% of the book.
Taking ideas from the other stories and writers are appreciating until you have guts to write your own story but not just the other version of the similar stories.
Also there was not a love story there was a roller coaster but at the point the other stories were ignoring the main characters story.
It’s not what i expected so this was my last book which i ever bought without reading the comments and reviews.

And these 2 stars are just for the 40% of the book.

The first 1/3rd of the book was gripping. I was fully invested in the story and the writing. However, that did not last throughout the entire book. The plot was quite predictable, and the characters didn't have a unique touch to them (really reminded me of Imama and Salar).
I know it's not fair to compare the two plots with the same trope as they are bound to have similarities. However, these two stories were so alike. It was hard not to compare.
Personally, I disliked how Rohan Jabeel reverted back to Islam. There was no flow to the process. It felt very forced and quick. There was no illustration of his inner turmoil through the process and him becoming an "Aashiq'" out of Nowhere... it just didn't sit right with me.
It wasn't a terrible book, but had a very predictable plot that deterred my interest.
