Tip #1 for dealing with dragons: be prepared for anything
My whole life, I thought dragons were majestic, wise, and fearsome creatures. Not to mention fictional. It’s been less than a year since that last belief was debunked. Dragons are real, they’re now living among us, and I’m the lucky realtor who gets to sell a house to their leader. I just have to impress his representative first. No problem—I’m a professional.
Except the dragon rep turns out to be the guy I hooked up with last night, and he’s fast disproving everything I believed about dragons. Unless “wise” actually means “addicted to glitter” and “majestic” is a euphemism for “overgrown frat boy.”
Hagen might actually be the most annoying person I’ve ever met, yet I can’t resist going on a date with him. One thing’s for sure, someone needs to write me a how-to guide for dating a dragon… glitter not included.
LOUISA MASTERS started reading romance much earlier than her mother thought she should. While other teenagers were sneaking out of the house, Louisa was sneaking romance novels in and working out how to read them without being discovered. She’s spent most of her life feeling sorry for people who don’t read, convinced that books are the solution to every problem. As an adult, she feeds her addiction in every spare second, only occasionally tearing herself away to do things like answer the phone and pay bills. She spent years trying to build a “sensible” career, working in bookstores, recruitment, resource management, administration, and as a travel agent, before finally conceding defeat and devoting herself to the world of romance novels. Louisa has a long list of places first discovered in books that she wants to visit, and every so often she overcomes her loathing of jet lag and takes a trip that charges her imagination. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she whines about the weather for most of the year while secretly admitting she’ll probably never move.
This was a fun, little romantic novella, but at just 88 pages, it was *only* about them meeting, having lots of sex, going on a few dates, then still happily together in the two-years-on epilogue.
As a quick filler read, I enjoyed it, but also felt as though some intangible "something" was kinda-sorta missing, too.
So just set realistic expectations going in and you should be good to go for this 3.5 star short book.
** PS. -- Vampire penis "spines" sound... disturbing.

This is a spin-off series from “Hidden Species,” and I'm not kidding when I say that these books must be read in the correct order, otherwise you won't really enjoy them. Even though key elements of the main plot are retold again and again, this is never done completely and is instead woven into the story, making it difficult to follow if you haven't read all the previous books. Here, too, the little love story of Hagen, whom we were briefly introduced to earlier, is told, and some earlier characters reappear. I love it. This is just a short interlude, but it's well done and definitely funny.
I didn’t fully understand it before, when Caolan asked me if I was prone to sudden fits of homicidal rage, because a day with a dragon might drive you to it. I thought he was joking. Or that it was part of a friendly joke between the dragons and elves. 🤭🐉🤭
When I say he swallowed my cock, I’m not kidding. Does he have a gag reflex at all? My dick is in his throat, his nose is pressed against my pubic bone, and there’s a blissed-out look on his face that makes me wonder if dragons need to breathe at all. Who cares? I’m not complaining. 😳🐉😳

This was a fun, little romantic novella, but at just 88 pages, it was mostly about them meeting, having lots of sex, going on a few dates, but still happy together in the epilogue which took place in a two-year time span. It's a short introduction to the bigger, hopefully longer :), Dragon series books by this same author.
It was "enlightening", seeing as how I learned some interesting as well as some "disturbing" info about both the Dragon and the Vampire species. Like did you know that a certain "body" part of the vampire anatomy has retracting "spines"? I didn't... but I certainly do now...and so does the dragon guy.! I'll never again be able to see Dracula the same way:)
I'm not sure if I'm going to continue this series or not, but I'm glad I at least tried it.
I read the series but how come I've never read this prequel? This was so much FUN for a novella. I was laughing through Hagen's dumbassery and teasing. 🤣🤣🤣
Jay: “Wait, does that mean you don’t know how to drive?” Hagen: “I’m driving now, aren’t I?” Jay: “Do you know all the road rules?” Hagen: “Mostly. Listen, could you put the name of the restaurant into the GPS? I don’t know where I’m going.” Jay: “You’re also on the wrong side of the road." Hagen: “Am I? Huh.”
Kind of a last ditch effort for this author, but yeah, they're not for me. I do think their world building has some interesting concepts, but I found Hagan to be obnoxious in the extreme and his immaturity and lack of respect for boundaries put me right off.
I absolutely adore Louisa's paranormal series and this sneaky prequel which goes back to the time when the elves and dragons had not long moved to Earth is blooming brilliant.
Hagen is a dragon with a devil may care attitude but he's also deeply good. He may play lose, but that's more that it's a role he feels comfortable with.
Meeting Jaiden changes all that and boy do they heat up the sheets. There's no other real secondary plot as this is a novella, but it focuses on the dragons finding the house we know as HQ.
Nice, short prelude to the “Here be dragons” spinoff of the “Hidden species” series.
This book picks up a few months after the “migration” that happens at the end of the Hidden Species series - elves and dragons now live on Earth and have acclimatised pretty well, up to the point where they don’t need to use translator spells any more.
Hagen is one of the dragons, and he meets up with a realtor (Jay, a vampire) to look at suitable houses for their Wing Leader, Brandt.
Is only 88 pages, so basically meet, start having sex, and end up being boyfriends. It’s sweet, but not memorable. Still, it kept me entertained enough to give it 3 stars. I MIGHT have been tempted to give it more, but then the author mentioned a fluttering pucker, and I just… couldn’t 🤣
Fluttering puckers? Really? We’re still doing that?
But as I said, other than that, it’s been nice enough to make me pick up Percy’s book now (the now retired Lucifer).
I do not like hagen. He is a childish brat, and it's not amusing. Jay is trying to be professional, despite their hookup the night before, because he is working and its going to be a massive professional thing for him, and Hagen is determined to be as large a problem as possible. He has no boundaries, and his goal appears to be as obnoxious as possible - like getting food residue on the inside of someone elses clean car. Rude much? I can't see how I'm supposed to like him, or why I'd want them to be together.
There's also a ton of infodumping, and internal monologue.
Overall, I was on the fence for this author, but this confirms I should move them to my DNR to save everyone the suffering.
The good ol’ “hook-up turns out to be my [fill in important person]”- trope. How original. But it worked, the characters where funny if not a touch superficial, the story very low angst, up to a point where it would have been boring if not for the interesting “creatures”. For as much talking about sex there were only a couple of scenes, so that was a plus in my book as well.
Meh, it was fine. The writing was readable, etc. But, despite being a .5/prequel I was pretty confused. It definitely didn't feel like it should be read as an introduction to the world. Plus, I just thought Hagen was annoying. I get that that was kinda his whole shtick, but I didn't enjoy him.
I loved Hagen! He is everything I’ve come to expect from dragons in this world. Jaiden was a great foil for him. This was fun and angst free with just enough sexy time.
This novella feels like much more than that. It is short, but the story feels full-fledged in a way some novellas don't.
We get a full story, where there is time to explore both a new love connection, the sexual relationship, and how the couple relates to their surroundings.
It is still pretty much insta-love, but as someone who is not a big fan of that, it has enough story development that it didn't ping my insta-love-radar too much.
I think you could read this novella at any point in the series as it only relates to the time before they had the big house. Hagen was a lot of fun and doesn't take things too seriously. He and Jay had immediate chemistry and it gets steamy fast. I adored their date, the teasing and interactions with thr other characters
I can't remember if Jay was mentioned in Brandt's story or not. Cute couple. Feels more of a sensible story thanks to the roommates stepping in. I did like the rolling out of bed quirk and the ongoing cooking joke. Appearance from Caolan and David but that's about it.

How To Date A Dragon is a short cute prequel to Louisa Masters Here Be Dragons series. This quick romance between Hagen, a dragon, and real estate agent, the vampire Jaiden is about 88 pages long. That doesn’t allow much time for character or relationship development. It comes with the expectation that the reader is already familiar with the characters and the world building behind it.
The purpose of Hagen and Jaiden meeting is to find the location for what will become in the series Here Be Dragons, the seat and home of the dragons on Earth. They meet hot and heavy, go on a couple of romantic dates, and then the epilogue flashes forward to find them into an established relationship.
It’s sexy, the couple engaging, and the entire thing short. Definitely a story that could benefit from more exposition and length. But it’s a cute addition to Louisa Masters series and dragons.
I love this world and I think dragons must be related to Hellhounds and they seem to be equally chaotic. Hagen is a dragon forced to work the weekend looking at real estate with vampire Jaiden. Only they realize they had a hook-up at a club the night before. Ooops. Jaiden tries really hard to be professional, this could make his career but Hagen doesn't see why they shouldn't have sex in some of the bedrooms and is very enthusiastic about getting together with Jaiden. It was cute and fun with Jaiden trying to cope with Hagen just barreling head with everything he wants and also being clueless about what might woo Jaiden with some help from his friends to steer him clear from my trying to cook for him. Was fun to see David and Caolan again.
I really only have one thing to say....When can I ride a dragon?
Seriously though, this was a great prequel story. I loved the setup of Hagen having to give up his weekend to see properties with Jay (after their one-night stand) and the story just got better from there. Great cast of characters and a ton of fun to read. I had no idea that this was a spinoff series so I'll be backtracking before reading the next book.
Dragon shifter x vampire realtor, one of the MCs was a bit annoying and lacked boundaries, I haven't read anything in this world or by this author, so I have no clue if this is the norm?
Intrigued with the world building elements, always excited to read about some dragons. Adding in a vampire LI was a new one. Please for the love of god, don't have sex on your roommates beds/public domain items when you share a space, I beg.
This was a nice intro to what I'm in for with starting this series. I hope there is plenty of these two in the books to come. I loved how easy their relationship was. Now to begin book 1.
*🤦♀️ back to edit that I didn't realize I read this series nearly a year ago and never knew about the prequel. 🤣🙄
