As a teenager, Faye used to read at night with a flashlight underneath her bed covers. She fantasized of bad boys who stopped at nothing to capture the hearts and bodies of their women, and of equally strong heroines. Make no mistake, there are no damsels in distress in her world.

Her addiction is the “enemies to lovers” trope, and maybe that’s why when she first met her husband, their chemistry was just as sizzling as their disapproval of each other. But as in her novels, passion won, and now they live through their happily ever after.

By day, she is taking care of her household. By night, her shadow self emerges to satisfy her undisclosed desires. Literary and not.

It's like 50 shades mafia style with a little more personality

⭐⭐⭐.5/5  🌶🌶🌶🌶/5

To be blunt the beginning of this story is extremely inconsistent and totally unbelievable. Maxine goes through a life altering traumatic experience which causes her to live a very anxious and avoidant lifestyle especially when it comes to exposing and drawing any sort of attention to herself. Then one random night her bestfriend/ stripper roommate is suddenly ill out of nowhere and can't make it to the club that night and will somehow earn enough money all of a sudden to cover her tuition payments she's behind on? When she low key pressures Max into replacing her, Max, who is supposed to have this consuming fear of exposing herself especially to men, caves within just a few sentences. Like I'm sorry but that's ludicrous, and the beginning reads like a Wattpad pic me girl. She has evident physiological trauma that is unresolved yet makes these sudden breakthroughs via her unexpected BDSM initiation. She is extremely passive and allows herself to be taken advantage of and by half way through the book I am glad that characteristic was addressed and thankfully brought about a bit of positive change to her character.

Now we have Daulton who has this big rule of not mixing business with pleasure when it comes to his employees, yet while in the middle of a serious work situation he just suddenly happens to pay close attention to this random dancer he's never seen and decides to indulge himself to her. . .
*If you're triggered by non consensual situations, BDSM, and other kinks I highly suggest you check the trigger warnings and do not read this story.*

It takes a little while until the cheesiness turns into actual steamy moments and situations that grab your attention and keep you hooked because of Maxine's self discovery of masochism/ submission and Daulton's desire for complete dominance over her. Their chemistry is undeniably delectable as their relationship progresses with each interaction.
There's a decent subplot to the story that brings an enjoyable element of danger to Maxine and Daulton's journey. One thing I really did enjoy about this story is the characters chemistry growth throughout the book and the consistent energy it produced that helped to keep me interested and engaged from start to finish. The most e enjoyable aspect about this story is the characters chemistry growth throughout the book and the consistent energy it produced that helped to keep me interested and engaged from start to finish.

One thing I will say is that this book needs a good editor. All my highlights are just noted mistakes. . . I gave up on chapter one then salted and peppered them here and there when I felt like pointing out mistakes.

I received a copy of Master’s Captive from the author Faye Pierce in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

This is the second book I have read by the author and really liked it ! The best thing for me is to feel I can relate to the characters and storyline. Maxine Heavenly is to good to be found in a place of sin filling in as a stripper for her good friend who needs the money towards her tuition. Dalton sees her awkwardly working her way thru her performance only to find himself immediately drawn to this girl.

A chance meeting after that puts Maxine back in his protective care when she is attacked little does he know at the time it’s partly due to circumstances from her past. Dalton is so overly protective - I just love when he starts doing things that really please her like a simple cooked dinner - gifting Maxine here favorite books - things she has never had anyone care enough to do for her before ! I read this book in one sitting - loved the happily ever after ! Great read !

Two Broken Soul Become one ❤️

The beginning start with Maxine's poor life. who was almost raped and saw her father murder After that incident, she survived.

in delton's world He was a heartless, cruel man the first time he met Maxine. He was very mean to her. But I saw the lust for both of them. It made me want to know more and want to know What kind of man was Delton?

And I found that under a cruel mask He hid his tenderness. And it's for Maxine only. The two's chemistry and relationship were slowly building up. The starting point may be from lust and sex. But if you keep reading You'll find what connects Delton and Maxine. it's more than that

Delton didn't just want body or sex from Maxine. But he also took good care of her. give her everything It gives her comfort, luxury, and teaches her to be strong and to love yourself. Choose to speak for yourself.

“I think you know those bad things happen, and you must also know that we can't let them define us forever. I could have been a victim that day. I could have let it destroy me that something so evil exists in this world - that a monster like him can be allowed to do things like that, especially to a kid.” He rolled a shoulder. “I chose another path.” He looks at me pointedly. “That's what fighters do.”

Delton's words really touched me. He can be so mean at first that you might be hate him. But if getting to know him better You will find that he is a man with the same good angles.

I'm glad Maxine is happy. For her, Delton is something new. Although he is not Prince Charming. But he's the protector, the savior, every time she say stop. He would stop immediately and never push, never pressure, and always comfort Maxine. Even though it was difficult for a man like him. But he changed himself for Maxine.

And yes... love has made him change.

For me this is a bit dark romance. If you like and love I highly recommend that you read it. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

captivating

Two broken individuals, with a dark past. Let just say this book is dark and may trigger some by the context and situations Maxine and Dalton have endured with a that said proceed with caution but if you enjoy Dark Romance you will definitely enjoy a Master’s Captive. Maxine and Dalton story will definitely captivate you until the end.
Maxine at a young experience a traumatic event that not only impacted her outlook in men but also the loss of her father. Always making sure she never attracts the attention of men by hiding behind shapeless and oversized clothes to conceal her body. She does everything to avoid being in dangerous situations until one day she couldn’t help but help her best friend and found herself at Leonas a strip club testing every fiber of her body, but she didn’t count on catching the attention of Dalton... he comes into her life like a Hurricane turning her life upside down but proving her with everything she didn’t think was possible until she met him.
Dalton a ruthless assassin/right hand men to the Negrini Family. He doesn’t have time for women but when Maxine catches his eye everything changes. He will go through any means to get what he wants and what he wants is Maxine and there is no stopping Dalton.

captivating mafia romance

I didn’t know it was the second in a series. But after reading this book and the blurb for the first I’m pretty sure it’s not a big deal to have read out of order. Now to the actual book.

The prologue starts out hard and heavy (read the triggers) Maxine was dealt a really crappy hand in life at a very young age. Causing her to be very suspicious of men and doing everything she can to try and keep her self safe and keep the attention off of her. So when he roommate falls ill and isn’t able to make it to her shift as an exotic dancer Lauren convinces Maxine to take her place for the night. Maxine is super shy and isn’t into the attention being on her but she is determined to make sure she is able to earn the money Lauren needs.
Dante is not only in the mafia but runs the club that Maxine is dancing in that night. He can tell she isn’t into it and doesn’t know what she’s doing but something about her draws him in. He tries to make her his that night but she gets away. But he’s Dante and no one tells him no. So he tracks her down and soon he has her and refuses to let her go. But someone else is out to get her and he will stop at nothing to keep her his possession.

This is an interesting journey, with some very dark undertones. Maxine experienced some significant trauma when she was 12, assaulted by her uncle, and seeing her father murdered. As you would expect, it dramatically impacted the direction her life went in after that. It would almost seem unbelievable that she would agree to cover for her best friend as a stripper, knowing how much her friends needs the money, because she is so opposed to it. But one of the things that is clear, is that she can’t say no to her friend. She feels compelled to help, at any cost, and so she agrees for one night to do this.

Dalton sees Maxine on stage, going by the name Heavenly; she is awkward and clearly uncomfortable, but he is immediately intrigued by her. He knows she is filling in for a friend, but he doesn’t know anything else about her, but he wants to know her better. Their first face to face encounter has him pushing her limits, wanting to be physical, and she is pushing back. He doesn’t understand what might be holding her back. Meanwhile, she experiences a mixture of panic and surprise when she finds herself both repelled and turned on by the stranger, when she’s never felt that for anyone before. Somehow his dominant hand seems to be exactly what her body needs to come to life, which scares her to death. But they’re interrupted and she manages to flee, with him not having any idea who she is.

Of course, Dante doesn’t give up that easily. He essentially bribes her friend to give him her real name and where she works, and he goes out to find her and get what he’s craving. When someone shoots at them, he whisks her away in an effort to protect her, and the story just keeps getting more intense. There’s an interesting twist, and plenty of spice, making it a good read.

I don't normally read this genre but fallen in love with the writing of this author and loving every book I have read, this book had me hooked from the start.

Following on from Masters Toy this book is about Constantino's right hand man Dalton and Maxine.

Dalton looks after the club Leonessa, he doesn't normally pay much attention to the girls apart from that they are safe, but when Maxine goes on stage for her friend Laura who is sick he is intrigued as she seems awkward and definitely not a dancer, he is drawn to her.

Maxine has had a hard life, her uncle tried to rape her when she was twelve and then shot her father in front of her so Maxine and her mum ran and kept on running. She couldn't form intimate relationships with men, just didn't like them touching her, that was until Dalton, who treated her like a slave and is cruel to her, but the more time they spend together he softens. He needs to protect her all the time and gives her a guard to watch her when she isn't with him.

I could see what was coming next but still enjoyed reading it.

The Master’s Captive keeps your interest until the end!

Maxine was abused by her uncle who killed her father as he was attacking her. Throughout her young life and to adulthood she had to live with the fear through nightmares of the attack. She was told her uncle was killed in prison and she was able to have some symbols of life. She was in college and working at the bookstore. She was orphaned at fifteen and lived with some relatives. Her best friend and roommate got sick and asked her to work in her place as a stripper. Maxine always wanted to be a good girl and she didn’t feel right working at the club. Dalton saw Maxine on stage and knew she wasn’t a dancer but he became fascinated with her and he thought she would be available to him. He pursued Maxine and made her his. She did not know her uncle was in the club and saw her. Things started happening to her, which Dalton thought they were trying to get to him through her. This book also deals with sexual abuse of a child but the story is well written with a beautiful HEA.

so manny mistakes

There were a few things that turned me off with this book. There were a lot of editing errors. Mostly misspelled words or missing words.
The fmc was crying like all the time. I understand that she had some trauma, but it got a little annoying how often she broke down into tears. I’m not sure the author even edited this at all. There are chunks she missed. One chapter he would mention that he shot at them for putting hands on her, then the next chapter would be her wondering if he’s the man that shot at them. How can she miss that if she’s editing?
Also, It was predictable.

I know there’s a lot I’ve complained about but for the most part I actually enjoyed it. Just had a lot of mistakes.

I received a copy of Dangerous Desires for an honest review, and Master’s Captive was up first. I never really read reviews or anything but I would really recommend looking at trigger warnings before this read!

The first couple chapters made me really uncomfortable, but I enjoyed the way the event was handled and addressed throughout the rest of the story and that Dalton helped her become someone more than her trauma and allowed her the space to come to terms with it without shame or misunderstanding was amazing—even if it was a little unconventional.

Overall, I loved Master’s Captive and I can’t wait to dive into Savage Lord! 🔥🔥

OMG

This book got me hooked from the first chapter, I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't put it down until I was finished. Faye Pierce knows exactly how to get you hooked. This book is darker then her other books but I was living for it. Maxine has been through so much in her life that she keeps everything and everyone at arms length. Until one day when her roommate and friend is sick and asks her to fill for her at the Leonessa. There she meets Dalton, he knows she is different from all the other women and he is intrigued by her. Dalton wants Maxine and Dalton always gets what he wants. Maxine is attracted to Dalton but because of things in her past she doesn't want anything to do with Dalton at first. Dalton is very persuasive even if it might be a little unconventional. Once Maxine gives into Dalton they explosive 🥵🔥🔥🔥. Dalton is over the top possessive but no one will hurt Maxine on his watch. When a ghost from her past puts Maxine in danger, Dalton will do anything to protect her. If you are a fan of Faye Pierce, I definitely recommend reading this book.

I was so kindly given this arc for an exchange of my honest opinion.

If you like Dark Romance with extra spice this will be right up your alley.
I was hooked from the very beginning and devoured this in one day.
I loved the writing style, the plot of the book and how possessive Dalton became of Maxine. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed but overall it was told beautifully. I am very excited to continue reading more of Faye Pierce’s books.

Maxine and Dalton have the best story!
The beginning is a little questionable but their chemistry ends up undeniable.
If dark mafia romance, forces proximity, etc are your thing, you’ll love this.
It’s quite the thriller as well!
If you are triggered by any of those things, steer clear.
Be sure to check the warnings!
If you aren’t bothered by those, enjoy!

This is a dark romance, if you have triggers beware. I enjoyed this story of Dalton and Maxine. They both have a dark past, but the chemistry between them is awesome. Once you start this book it will be hard to put down. This is my honest review of an ARC.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt the connection between the main characters. The only reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 stars, is because of a few spelling/grammar issues and a couple of timeline inconsistencies. Other than that, this book was a very good read.
