A conquering eleventh century Viking chief who doesn’t believe he can lose his heart to a Saxon slave will hand it over willingly.
Welcome to book 3 in the fabulous series Echoes in Time by New York Times Bestselling author Paula Quinn!
When actress Camelee Pendrey is hurled back in time a thousand years and finds herself caught under the nets of deadly-looking men on horseback, she’s sure of one she will never survive. Eleventh century Britain is nothing as she imagined. To begin with, there is a Dane on the throne! Worse, there’s one in her bed. They are everywhere. Conquering, capturing, enslaving the Saxons acre by acre.
But Camelee isn’t a Saxon, and she’s nobody’s servant. Not even the deadly Viking who claims to own her and then promises to own her heart as well.
Chief Wolf Kristiansen is the king’s most dangerous warrior. When his men capture a beautiful new servant beneath their nets, he does not know where she came from, nor does he care. She is his now. That is all that matters. Along with his possession comes protection, and he is called upon many times to keep Camelee Pendrey safe. But it’s Wolf who is in danger.
His heart is given up for one woman and casts him into a fight with a king and his legendary sword, an enemy sorceress out for revenge, and the very fabric of time itself.

Very enjoyable read, some great characters from the start, and some that take a little more time to get to know. I loved Wolf, and Finn intrigued me no end. Camelee took a little longer I must admit, she’s strong and as would be expected didn’t settle into being a slave well. I would love to read more on their lives maybe before they met, see what shaped them into the characters they are. Great addition to the other ones in the series.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
I have so enjoyed reading the Echoes in Time series, each book so filled with strong characters and breathtaking scenes. Add time travel and magic and you have the perfect stories to keep you spellbound. Paula Quinn has a mighty pen and she knows how to use it! Being the last book in the series, many loose ends are pulled together and answers to many questions are given. A perfect ending to an enthralling series.
This is Camelee and Wolf's story and what a story it is! When Camelee finds herself amidst a battle between Vikings and Saxons, she doesn't realize she's just gone back in time over 1000 years. A rude awakening for sure, especially when the Dane who has captured her thinks he owns her now but leave it to Camelee to tell him exactly what she thinks of that! lol In a world where killing someone is an everyday occurrence and women are treated like servants, Camelee realizes she's very lucky that she "belongs" to Wolf, at least he treats her well and is fair. Attraction turns to passion and when all is revealed, when heartaches are mended and the evil is vanquished, only then can they have their HEA.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I found this a very engaging story and am looking forward to reading the earlier books in the series. It was much lighter in tone than I expected, with little of the brutality of realistic Viking life depicted. The Vikings use modern language and understand American terms which bothered me a bit, but on the other hand it did make the book easier to read than if the speech patterns had been historically accurate - so on balance I’m okay with that. It is an easy read, with no angst or dark themes and some really great, relatable characters. I was gripped by the story and read it all in one go.
A MATTER OF TIME A Viking berserker, an antique brooch and a NY actress. Traveling back in time, finding your love, only brings questions of why. Then you find out who you really are and the family you never you had. A fantasy time travel between the real world and magic. Enter a different realm of happiness. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Another time travel romance for me. It seems to be my thing lately. As a reader- you always have to go into these time travel stories with the knowledge that they are going to be a little quirky. Time travel is a tough thing to write. These historical novels always feel watered down - not in depth historical wise - unless you are reading Outlander.
So knowing that- I found this one pretty good. I really like Paula Quinn as a writer. I always enjoy her books.
The FMC Camelee wasn’t my favorite female character here - but it seems to be this way in MOST time travel romances. I’m sure it’s this way to make the couple complete opposites and brew conflict. This is a story about a woman from New York City in the year 2019 inheriting a broach that sends her back to 1017 AD. She is an actress and very high maintenance woman. Kind of a diva personality. I typically hate females written this way. Unrelatable. She has a true New Yorker vibe to her. So I found her irritating. Again ☝🏼 females tend to be written this way in time travel romances.
The MMC is a Viking war commander under King Cnut of Denmark and temporarily King of England. This MMC Ulf is a warrior but yearns to return home after war to start a family and tend to his farm. I loved his character- naturally.
☝🏼 bonus points to this time travel book for writing Emma of Normandy and her new husband Cnut into this story - and in the years where Cnut ceases control over England. This is my FAVORITE part of European history. My roman empire. This probably made this book more intriguing for me honestly.
Despite not really caring much for the FMC- I enjoyed the romance between the couple. The MMC pretty much takes the FMC under his wing as a “servant” but as a protective role. So if you enjoy protective MMC’s - you’d enjoy this one. He pretty much has INSTALOVE with her. Not my favorite trope. But their romance is slow building despite the instant love because this FMC simply wants to go home and feels out of place in this time period- this hinders their growing love.
Motherhood is a big theme in this story. The FMC doesn’t ever want to be a mother but finds herself taking care of an orphan child while stuck in the Anglo Saxon time period and basically being a mother. It “softens” her heart towards children. The couple play at being a “family” even tho they aren’t a family. They aren’t married and this is an orphan they found. This helps build their relationship.
Overall I liked this book but at the same time it’s just ok.. I probably need to take a break from time travel and read actual historical romance for a change. I don’t know why but I’ve just been binging these time travel novels for fun. 🤷🏻♀️
The last 100 pages kind of dragged for me. I feel like the conflict wasn’t overall organized. It was just a “I want to be here and love you but I want to go home to my actual time” conflict. And oddly enough- religion played a factor randomly in the end. I feel like the author didn’t mention faith much throughout the book until the very end- Christianity being a popular topic of discussion all of a sudden. And I like that inside a historical fiction book - I love cultural differences - but it felt thrown into the ending just to have something to talk about. I don’t know- all the random God talks and Christian modern holidays discussions like Christmas and presents under the tree for the child felt odd. That’s the thing about time travel- when there is a blur of modern time period in a historical read. This probably didn’t bother anyone other than me. Just made me feel like the book felt modern at times inside the Viking time period. 🤷🏻♀️
There also felt like a lot of filler fluff inside the end chapters. Like a snowball scene and building snowman’s. Yep. A bunch of Vikings throwing snowballs and King Cnut getting hit in the face with snow. 😬 Just unserious fluff. No historical depth.
There is also a bunch of magical fantasy crap connected to the time travel at the end that I didn’t care for at all.
This all sounds negative. 😬 Idk. It’s a time travel romance. Don’t expect much. 🤷🏻♀️ if you want a mindless romance read here ya go. I’ve learned to never expect much when it comes to time travel romances and yet I still read them…
Ulf is a chief in the Viking raiders of King Cnut. He and his men are killing any Saxons who stand in their way.
Our hero is typical of his time, a strong and ruthless man. He sometimes slips into Berserker mode when he fights. That could prove to be very helpful.
Camelee is a modern woman who suddenly finds herself in the middle of a Viking raid. Our heroine is normally a pampered, famous actress who trusts nobody. Her heart has been broken and sealed away. She is now well outside of her comfort zone.
That is a very dangerous era for everyone who lives there, constant battles with no mercy shown.
This is an emotional story full of fabulous characters, some you might have met in previous books in the series. We have a little magic sprinkled in with all the action because this is a very special family after all. You don't need to have read the others to enjoy this one, but it will definitely tempt you to read them all. This is the final book so it has a "winding up" scene at the end where the whole family meet up.
Another exciting addition to this engaging series that throws the pampered heroine into Viking times. Can you just imagine, being here in modern times and the next in the brutal times of the Vikings? Well no, I think I would just have a heart attack!
Lucky for her, she is captured by a strong, mighty Viking chief who claims her for himself! Being right in the mist of their battle with the Saxons, that is not a bad place to be...
Fierce warriors, amazing location and a wonderful ending to this exciting saga that pulls everything together and leaves your mind back in this century!!
The Warrior's Echo by Paula Quinn is the last in her series about the children of King Arthur and the magic that sent them to find their true loves, no matter what century. This is about Camelee Pendry, adopted by parents who were too busy to care for her; she has spent her entire life looking for someone to love her. She is a TV star and has a cadre of people looking after her, but after a series of short romances, is convinced there is no one for her. She finds herself in 1017 in the middle of a battle between Danes and Saxons. There is so much blood. What an elaborate joke this is. Wait until she finds out the perpetrator. The chief, a man named Wolf, seems to have become her protector, she his slave. Never!
This has been a terrific series. I am sad this appears to be the last book. It is clever and original, until it comes to the ending. I hated it. It made no sense and did not being to live up to the standards set by the earlier books. I understand the author not knowing how to end it all, but she is so talented, she could have done better than this! Camelee was a good character. It was fun watching her become adjusted to her new circumstance, to watch her begin to care about people, which was a new experience for her. It was fun to watch her fall in love with Wolf. She found her mother, and he daughter. The ones she didn't know she had. They loved her and it was a completely new experience. It was, overall, a wonderful story arc.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of The Warrior's Echo by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #netgalley #dragonblade #paulaquinn #thewarriorsecho
Camalee Pendrey is thrown back in time to a place that is definitely a place she does not want to be. Women are basically slaves to men and under their rule. When she catches the eye of the Chief Wolf Kristiansen.
Camalee was abandoned by her parents to an orphanage and her adoptive parents never had time for her, so her outlook on life and well as men is definitely tainted. Now she will have to navigate in a time where she is has a lot to be afraid of. Camalee has no choice but to fall under the protection of Wolf, but it will come with a price!
I have read the first two in the series and loved them both, but the story will unfold in this book. I definitely loved this story. I loved both Camalee and Wolf and was just surprised at the ending!♥️♥️ I definitely recommend reading all three you will love them!
I've recieved this book as an ARC and I was very excited to read it, loving higlander-type historical romance. I had a few issues that irked me with the writing style. I couldn't get close to the characters at all, feeling like I was kept from connecting with them by the way the story was written. It felt to me like a play by play telling of a story, never stopping to explore what the characters were actually feeling. The premise was good, the plot was good but I feel the writer had missed an opportunity to write a spectacular novel by skimming over all the important parts. To me the story felt rushed and incomplete and I finished it feeling very unsatisfied. The romance was dull and everything about the book felt forced and rushed. This is the first book from this author I've read. I feel it could have been much much better if not so rushed. Beacuse of this being an arc I have read the whole book, I don't know if I would have if it was a purchased book.
I'm very sad to rate this book only 1. I really wanted to love it.
If you love history, Arthurian legends, time travel, magic or even just love in general, you will probably love this series.
I know that other reviews have said that these don't need to be read in order .... that you can read The Warrior's Echo, the third Echoes in Time tale, without having read the first two.
I suppose they are correct in that you CAN, but should you?
Absolutely not.
I cannot imagine getting as much out of the third without the set-up from the first two. I devoured all three in a few days time -- grabbing the first two, Echo of Roses and Echoes of Abandon, from Kindle Unlimited after receiving the eARC for The Warrior's Echo from NetGalley .... and then spent the $5 for the permanent digital copies so I will still have them all together once my KU membership ends.
I cannot say that one is better than either of the others because they truly are not separate stories -- only separate books. It is one epic and glorious story told in installments that will quite probably make you ignore your TV .... your weekend chores .... and your bedtime.
That was so confusing, it started out so well, I loved all the characters, especially Wolf, he gave me butterflies, and camelee was a really interesting character. Overall, I really liked how the story was going, and then suddenly it went into a downward spiral. The whole magic thing and secret family was done so poorly, everything felt so rushed and dull. The book just turned from a romance into general fiction, it lost all the spark. The ending was quite cringe worthy since there was no good leading into the finale. *I received an ARC of this book through netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
What a fantastic book, and series! Camelee Pendrey is an Actress. She touched an object and is thrown back 1,000 years. She lands in the middle of a war. Chief Wolf Kristiansen is a dangerous Warrior. Wolf’s warriors capture Camelee. Wolf claims her as his. This story will captivate you from Page 1. There is treachery, betrayal, wars, kidnapping Kings, magic, History. What a wonderful story that fills your heart and makes you believe in true love. Paula Quinn, I love your books, your stories and the Warriors who love your Strong Women!
I've read the whole series and when the magic part of the story goes in full swing not sure if readers will understand all the Camelot character's and references. I hope you read book 1 because it sets up the series nicely.
I had a hard time connecting to the h. The H was a dream and not as violent as Vikings you usually read about - he had a kind heart while being a mighty warrior. The h wouldn't allow herself to feel connection to people.
When you read time travel stories, I want to feel the shock of the person traveling. How about the food, it certainly would be a unique experience. They don't have deodorant so I would expect the h to mention body/breathe odor. Those are the things I want to hear about but none of it was mentioned - I know it is a weird thing I want to know about - lol!
Some violence, attempted rape - not described in detail, groping before being saved! Very mild lovemaking within marriage, heat level 1 out of 5, if that. Some editing issues - wrong name used, some typos but not enough to cause a problem.
Interesting secondary character's, unique story line, no cheating, no cliffhanger for our couple, but wanted to know more about what their future looked like. Little on romance and a small tad of spice. I didn't explain the blurb because many have done it better than I. Just what I got out of reading it. (ljb)
Ms. Quinn has crafted a captivating tale in this third installment of Echoes in Time series. I have not read the previous books in the series, but I enjoyed this nonetheless and plan to go back and also read those when I get a chance. I haven't read many time travel books, but this one sure gives me a reason to do so. After having traveled back in time, Camelee finds herself in the presence of a battle between the Viking and Saxons. Camelee has had her heart broken and does not trust anybody, but she is a strong and feisty character. When she is captured by Wolf who thinks he now owns her, she certainly doesn't hesitate to give him a piece of her mind. Wolf takes good care of her and treats her well., and the two are attracted to each other. It doesn't take long for that attraction to turn into passion. Ms Quinn has penned an engaging story full of emotion and strong characters and I have really enjoyed reading it. I will definitely be going back to see what I missed!
I received a complimentary copy from Dragonblade Publishing via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
When I saw the cover and that this is a time travel romance, I immediately wanted to read this book. The story is very engaging, and I didn't want to stop until I finished. This story is about Camelee, who is sent to the eleventh century in the middle of a battle between the Vikings and Saxons. There she is captured by Wolf, who claims her for himself, and then we can see how their relationship will develop with time.
In my opinion there were some facts that weren't historically accurate but it wasn't that much and didn't bother me too much. Also their relationship could be a little better developed
In addition to that this book is very easy to read and it caught my attention that I read in one go
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Except for the brief, obvious time travel aspect presented upfront, the subdued spotlight on it during the majority of this story had it playing out more like a stereotypical, historical Scottish romance. No, that isn't a typo or criticism, folks. Though the hero was Viking, thankfully he had a less ruthless alpha male streak than I expected or have experienced in that genre, i.e. how he dealt with the heroine and her newly found companions. Alpha possessive but protective and determined seemed to keep his misbehaving in check. This sassy heroine seemed to open his eyes and heart to sides of life he had not given much thought or credence to.
All was actually going pretty well until about 70%. What can I say? The too large cast of time travel characters that popped up out of nowhere combined with the all over the place attempt to tie them individually and cohesively together with past events and the current threat was just too much to digest and keep straight. Ending result = I tuned out. Skimming to the end as fast as I could, I started taking quick mental snapshots of what was likely happening and just pieced them together enough to convince myself there was an actual somewhat wrapped up conclusion.
There's a fair chance fans of The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley may really fall for this book, btw. As long as you can handle the handling of what I just mentioned. I can't shake the feeling the author stumbled somewhat in scripting the last portion. Perhaps it was simply just too much to try to compact together in the first place.
Title: The Warrior's Echo, Series: Echoes In Time (Book 3), Author: Paula Quinn, stand-alone but part of a series, alpha possessive, protective hero, sassy heroine, get to know each other first, time travel element, some steamy scenes late in book, no OW/OM drama, no OP after meeting, romance safe IMO.
Book 1 - Echo of Roses Book 2 - Echoes of Abandon Book 3 - The Warrior's Echo

Throughly enjoyed Paula’s Quinn’s series Echoes in Time. Truly wish there was a few more to the series. Wolf was a s suprise to the ending. Never saw it coming. Hopefully there will be another series similar .
It took me so much time to get involved in the story. I didn't like the heroine, an actress from the 21st century who travels back in time. She was a little mean and a brat all the time. All the while, Wulf - a Viking raiding Saxon lands - thought she was his property and all that. The character development was a little slow and the romance was a little light.
It was an overall enjoyable read, but I felt it lacked something.
