Troy…oh Troy…. Damaged and scared and oh so tortured…. My kryptonite in a book boyfriend. 😍
Ok, Anna May is the cutest! And Jolene… Jolene… Jolene, JOLEEEEEEEEENE…. (Sorry I HAD to!) is one bad @$$ strong woman! She rocks!
I loved this second chance romance it was full of angst and drama and funny moments and at one point I took a ten minute break from packing to read some more and lost two hours instead of 10 minutes because I was so caught up. This book had me in all my feels and I can’t wait for the next one!
Ah, Jo and Troy. A history of closeness and distance, joy and heartache, love and darkness.
Jo’s past is both beautiful and dangerous as we enter into yet another exciting city in book 4 of the Kismet series.
We find a distraught and hiding Jolene Stewart, Noah’s sister, working in a restaurant in Nashville. Hiding from the ex she put behind bars for heinous crimes. Just as she’s meeting up with a handsome face she hasn’t seen in years, Troy Young-- tall, sexy Navy S.E.A.L.-- need I say more ladies (wink wink) danger is back and her long lost love must come to the rescue, giving all the feels that make me love romance novels. I mean, what’s not to love about a hero coming to a damsel’s rescue...swoooonnnnn.
Journey back into the series, as Ms. Montgomery takes you through a past riddled with both good and bad for both these reluctant lovers. Troy is swoony, sweet and all alpha. Jo is patient, caring and a fierce mama bear. Anna May is just darling and I loved catching up with my favorite couples from the first three books.
I enjoyed the adventure and added suspense in the end of this book. It amped it up and I just love a good twist. I laughed, cried, and thoroughly enjoyed this book. And I can’t wait to read more about Colton and Brittany in book 5.
Troy and Jolene haven't seen eachother in years. When their paths cross again a second time their feelings for one another are still there. Troy's fear is holding him back though. With his duty to his country and a wish for more tomorrows with Jolene. Troy has to decide a future with Jolene and her daughter or a future without them. When nightmares from her past start calling and his next tour is leaving Troy with fear of not returning, he's wondering if he can be the man he promised he would be for her.
This is hands down my favorite book so far in the entire series!! Troy and Jolene's story had so much love and angst. I connected to the characters so easily. I felt so bad for Troy. What he went through while he was on tour changed him forever. He suffered from PTSD and survivor's guilt. I understood the constant fear he dealt with everyday. I loved that Jolene tried to understand Troy better. She tried to be his support during these times. I loved that she made sure to be a constant in his life. I loved the effort Troy made with Jolene's daughter, Anna May. He had a great relationship with her.
Most recently I listened to the audiobook and it's fantastic! Performed in duet by JF Harding and June Deborahae. These two were perfect as Troy and Jolene. Both of them had great southern accents. JF exuded Troy's southern charm. He brought out Troy's self assurance and confidence. In the more emotional scenes JF's tone was heartbreaking. June exuded Jolene's grace and high-spirited demeanor. She also had a great kid voice. June as Anna May had my heart melting and laughing. Together JF and June brought these characters and this story to life with their expressive tones. I highly recommend the audio!!

Thank you to the author and @bluenoseaudio for my ALC and for the opportunity to review and listen.
There is so much about this book I adored! Troy and Jo had so much chemistry and so much holding them back, you could feel the constant attraction and draw to each other while they both still had the brakes on. Troy has so much emotional baggage he is carrying with him, his brothers death, the guilt he is carrying and the thought he doesn't deserve to have a happy life or a happily ever after.. Jo is living life with her young daughter constantly looking over her shoulder. Her absolute scum bag of an ex-husband was a violent man living the life of crime and when Jo is one of the reasons he ends up in jail she is no longer safe when she learns he is out and looking for vengeance. The love Troy and Jo felt for each other years ago never died and never wavered. After years apart their chemistry was still there burning that you could feel when reading. The twists in this book were amazing and just the right amount of suspense mixed with romance to keep you glued to the pages and sometimes even yelling and venting. This was my first book by this author and will definitely not be the last! Fantastic book - 5 stars!
Troy and Jolene were hot and heavy five years ago. Due to his military job, things ended. Life would have been perfect if they reconnected and just got back together. But that’s not how this book works. Unfortunately Jolene meets and marries a monster named Brian who ends up in jail for a horrible crime. Now he’s back but so is Troy who wants a second chance and is willing to protect her at all costs.
Deftly weaving a hot romance with suspense, the author gives us a winner with a host of secondary characters that includes an adorable girl named Anna May. You’ll have to read the book to see how their story unfolds.
This book was such a push and pull of emotions. There were parts that brought me to tears and parts that made my heart feel so full. There were also times I wanted to yell at a certain character to do what I wanted him to. Lol. Evelyn’s book are always an emotional ride and so beautifully written. This one does not disappoint. If you like second chance romance, military, and a great book….you won’t go wrong with this one.
Evelyn Montgomery delivers an exceptional romance novel in the 4th installment of The Kismet Series with Deliverance. Although Deliverance is the 4th installment in the series, the story reads well as a stand-alone, as I had no trouble following the character’s storylines and chain of events. Featuring two outstanding main characters, Troy and Jo, the story’s perspective alternates between the two. Troy Young is a man from Jo’s past. Although the two shared a memorable summer together, Troy has never been able to offer Jo the promise of forever due to his active status as a respected Navy Seal. Jolene, affectionately referred to as Jo throughout the novel, is a single, hardworking mother with sky-scraping determination.
After the heartbreak of Troy walking away several years prior to the present time, Jo meets and marries a man named Brian, and together they bring into the world a beautiful baby girl, Anna May. Brian, though, becomes the man from a woman’s nightmares and ultimately becomes the cause for Jo and Anna May to move away and start a new beginning while he serves a prison sentence. During the coincidence of a lifetime, Troy walks back into Jo’s life at the moment she needs him the most, when her safety is jeopardized by an unexpected intrusion from Brian.
Troy vows to ensure the safety of Jo and Anna May, providing the two with a level of comfort and safety they crave. However, when Troy comes crashing in to save the day, he also manages to come crashing back into Jo’s heart. Unable to stop herself from falling for Troy more and more each day, Jo attempts to break down the walls he has put up to protect himself and everyone around him from heartbreak. He knows there is no guarantee of his return due to his career, and he refuses to allow the thought of heartbreak that would follow without his safe return if he made a promise he couldn’t keep.
Now, does that synopsis set the scene for a completely swoon worthy romance read, or what?
With perfectly painted scenes by the author, the main characters in this story are two of the most memorable that I’ve ever encountered. Jo’s dedication to her daughter and determination to keep her safe is commendable and beautiful. Troy’ dedication to his country and those he loves causes him to be highly respected. While I found myself wholeheartedly rooting for these two to be able to find their perfect compromise, I was completely drawn into the consideration that sometimes our reality is just “wrong place, wrong time.”
Will Troy be able to overcome his fear of commitment, knowing he could be possibly causing more pain by staying? Will Jo be able to continue to provide her daughter with the security and safety she deserves, while also managing to guard her own heart?
Due to a significant presence of intense and passionate sexual scenes and language, it’s necessary to give a reader’s discretion warning, as this novel is certainly only recommended for mature audiences.
I can’t possibly prepare readers for the roller coaster of emotions that will come along with experiencing Deliverance. The characters share compassion, desire, lust, fury, frustration, and love- all in under 300 pages!
Reading another phenomenal piece of work by Evelyn Montgomery, as well as having the opportunity to review, has been an honor and I’m thoroughly pleased with her ability to captivate my emotions with her writing. I am already anticipating the experience to fall in love with more characters from her series.
Not my first read by the author and I was rather really looking forward to this one!! Each book that comes out gets better and better!! What a heartbreaking book! I love reading about military romance and this one GAVE ME ALL THE FEELS! The events the actions…perfected! Emotions, love, darkness for the both of the main characters. It was deep and heartfelt.
Jolene Stewart who is Noah’s sister is a fierce woman, protective of her daughter in every sense. The love she has for her and the need to give her better…really tragic and beautiful. So why does seeing Troy Young again makes her want to revert back to wanting him, needing him…she knows better than to go that road again. Last time it left her run over and shattered. Troy is a broken man, big, handsome, sexy, a savior…that’s what he has always been but protected. This time he is determined to not let Jo slip again…but at what cost?
Heartfelt, romantic, sexy, suspenseful…it kind of has it all. I really enjoyed this and heck wish there was more. Keep you on your toes type of book!
“I love you to infinite and beyond.”
A MUST READ! Rating: ★★★★★ Steamy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Recommended: ☑ HIGHLY! ⇨ H A P P Y – R E A D I N G ⇦
Right as Jo’s world implodes, in walks in Troy. They have a history spanning quite a few years. Well he left her 5 years ago and didnt call, write, nothing. She then meet her ex, Brian, whom she shares a daughter with. While Jo, Troy, and Anna May are getting to know each other again; Jo’s ex, gets out of prison and causes a lot of problems. Troy stays as her bodyguard. We see old friends reunite from previous books. We catch up with them and theirs. How will this all play out? Does Brian gain the upper hand? Will Jo stay in hiding so no one she loves gets hurt? Will Troy be able to commit to Jo and her daughter? Can he forgive himself enough to love the one girl who makes him whole? I love military romances, our support for these guys are just enormous. They fight for our freedom, so that all may be free! Support our Vets!
I choose this rating because I view this story as realistc to what a solider goes through when they experience something traumatic and experience survivors guilt I think Evelyn captured that perfectly. I also thought the built-in family was such a cute dynamic I you love a good military man romance or just want a glimpse into a soldiers mind I recommend this read ... Can't wait to read Brittany and Dylan's story this is one series I really can't wait to read ...
Loved this book! It’s a great page-turning story with wonderful characters and a beautiful romance.
Jo and Troy met a decade ago and have reconnected again 5 years ago, but afterward he deployed he begged her to move on, so she tried. Now she’s a single mom running from her ex husband. Her past is coming with a vengeance and Troy will do everything in his power to save her and her daughter, no matter the cost!
This is my first read from the author. I understand that there are other books from the series but it can be read as a standalone.
The push and pull was a tad frustrating but you can't blame someone who feels guilty about losing a loved-one while on their watch even though the situation was out of their control. I know I would.
In the fifth book Destined hearts series we get Troy and Jolene’s second chance at a possible forever. Can I get out of their own way? Will they destroy each other again? The authors writing flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Deliverance gives you such a roller-coaster of emotions that is delivered exceptionally well. Troy & Jolene's love story is complicated and innocent, but even they can get their HEA!
Jolene (Noah's sister), just ran away with her daughter, Anna May, to escape her crazy ex. He's getting released from prison and being the one to put him behind bars she wants to start over. One night while working he finds her and is threating her life, but she won't give up the location of her daughter. Then Troy comes to her rescue. She hasn't seen him in 5 years since he left her on the front pouch and didn't look back. Troy doesn't believe he deserves love after the loss of his brother Dru in combat in Iraq. Unfortunately, Troy was with him when he died, and he couldn't save him. That guilt ate at him, so he pushes everyone and love aside.
Now years later and seeing Jolene, all those emotions come flooding back for the both of them. They pick off like he never left. She's quickly falling for him again, but can he give his heart to her. She now has to think of her daughter as well. Can she really let Troy back in and not only steal her heart but her daughters as well if he's leaving AGAIN for Iraq. The constant push and pull these two have sends you on a journey. Sometimes you may want to reach in the book and slap Troy like wake up and see the big picture.
Deliverance is steamy, intense and suspenseful, especially towards the end. This second chance romance will have you swooning and falling in love. Especially little Anna May. She just the cutest and is like a perfect comic relief in a book. I even love her little nickname for Troy, SEAL, just because he's a Navy Seal.
Thank you so much Evelyn for this ARC Copy of Deliverance. I am truly honored and can't wait to dive into Brittney and Dylan's story next!
This was a very much anticipated audiobook for me these last few weeks and it delivered. Between needing JF Harding in my ears, narrating in DUET with June DeBorahae who just became a name I will go searching for, and a single mom with a second chance at love storyline, all my boxes were being checked and then some. This was an angsty love story of Jolene Stewart, a mother of an adorable four year old little girl who is a trying to lay low from a toxic ex and Troy Young a navy seal who stole Jolene’s heart one summer, although years have past, he still holds a large part of it. When Troy and Jo reconnect it’s like no time has passed, feelings are rooted deep, promises are whispered and the chance at happiness almost seems too good to be true. But as Troy fights the demons from his past, he’s not ready to put Jolene and her daughter through the same things that haunts him daily, and letting go seems like the right decision. I will continue to say, I LOVE a second chance romance and hearing Jolene and Troy come full circle, back to where their true hearts began, you can’t help but root for them to make the right decision. I loved the way Troy was with Jolenes daughter right away, he never hesitated to love her like he loved her mom, and although Troy pushes people away he knew he needed these two in his future. JF harding and June DeBorahae did a beautiful job bringing this story to life. Setting in the south, the southerness they both expressed was everything I didn’t know I needed. They both expressed the heartache, the friendship, the love and passion so beautifully, I was captivated every minute of this audio. This was my first Evelyn Montgomery book, and I can’t wait to read more of her work. Thank You @bluenoseaudio for the opportunity to listen and review.
Jolene and Troy have history together....one that seems to always end up with them apart. Can Troy protect her from her past? Can Jolene save him from his? Will it all end the way it did ten years ago?
What I love about Evelyn Montgomery's writing is she doesn't waste the first three chapters with back-story filler. She immediately takes you on a journey of the main characters and their love story. She doesn't hold back on the spice either, usually there is a spicy scene or an almost spicy scene within the first chapter! Deliverance is one of the spicier books I have read from Montgomery, and the most suspenseful. The story is not lost with all the spice scenes, it is enhanced because of them. I loved the way Troy immediately connects with Anna May. I could feel every emotion Jolene felt for Troy and her daughter. I became so wrapped up in the story I caught myself more than once reacting out loud to situations! I like that the couples from past books make an appearance in this book. Most of the plot twists were predictable. There is a time jump in this book that left me feeling a little under informed. Overall it is a great book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet love story with a medium amount of spice, a little suspense with a military element, and family values.
This was another amazing book from author, Evelyn Montgomery. I have loved every book in this series and it is nice that they can each be read as a standalone book. I just loved Jolene and Troy. They both come with tons of baggage from their past. Their chemistry just shows their love for each other. The heat level was on fire 🔥.
Jo is learning how to rebuild her life after ending a terrible marriage, leaving her home, and starting over in a new place. Troy is dealing with all the struggles that come with being a Navy SEAL and the trauma of years away at war. A second or third chance at love happens, but not before they have to learn how each has changed from being apart for so many years.
I really loved Anna May, Jolene's daughter. She was an adorable little cutie pie. I loved her so much. Just loved her nickname for Troy (Seal) was just the perfect touch.
"Let me love you, Jo. Beautifully. Just the way I see you."
Evelyn Montgomery completely nailed this story. There is some suspense, happiness, pain, and some heartbreak. I love the terms "beautiful" and "darlin" because when a man says these words to the woman they love, it makes my heart melt. This will definitely be added to my recommendation list for others to read.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Deliverance by Evelyn Montgomery is a romantic suspense. It's the fourth book from the Can't Help Falling In Love series.
Jolene Stewart had a nasty divorce with her ex-husband who was in prison. When she found out he was getting out she took her four-year-old daughter and moved to Nashville. She was trying to settle in when a man from her past immerged. Troy Young was a Navy Seal, five years ago they spent their last night together before he went to Iraq and she never saw him again. Now he was back asking for another chance. Jolene was more than happy to be with him, especially with the love he showed to her little girl. But Troy had his own demons and her ex was after her seeking revenge. Could those two troubled souls have their happy ending?
This book is incredible. So emotional and romantic with a few sweet family moments. It's well written, told from a dual pov and the plot captures your attention from the beginning. The romance is intense and fast-paced but it doesn't feel rushed. Their chemistry was amazing not only in bed but as a family. My favorite moments were with him and the little girl, they were so adorable.
I loved this book from the start till the end. I will rate it with 5 stars.
Talk about a book that will leave you on the edge of your seat!! Seriously every time I think I had Troy figured out, or Jolene for that matter, nope! These two were infuriating and lovable at the same time.
Jolene’s life has been fraught with trouble since she married a man that wasn’t Troy. She uprooted herself to get away from that past, and the man that nearly unalived her once before. With it, she brought Anna May. Her daughter is the most adorable near five year old throughout this book and brought that sense of innocence into it all. When Jolene doesn’t feel like she has a true lifeline, she simply thinks of Anna May and things are right again.
Troy is a Navy Seal. He fell for Jolene a decade ago, and again five years prior. The things that have happened in his life though have led him to get into his own head. His past tries to dissuade him from the future he could and should have, time and again. The love he holds for Jolene is beyond words, but he won’t allow himself to have it.
What if they just tried? If not for each other, for themselves? What could happen to pull them apart? Could someone else be their reason for never realizing what they have?
This was my first read of the author and wow did the story stun me. It was really emotional, it was angsty, I had to stop midway even to take a breath.
So. Troy and Jolene have history. Repeat history. They both have feelings for each other but due to some circumstances during his deployment, Troy's view of HEA is shattered and he chooses to leave Jolene and asks her not to wait for him. 5 years later, Jo is now a mother to 4-year-old Anna May, has just relocated to Nashville after putting her husband behind bars. Troy is just back from his deployment. As usual, when these two meet, sparks fly, feelings ignite. Troy has so many demons he has to fight to find his way to happiness. Jo is really a fierce woman for standing up for herself and her daughter, and a saint for always loving Troy, wishing him back safely, and to her arms. It is very emotional and during my read I have to hold back my tears.
This is standalone and even though there are mentions of other couples from previous books, I can understand the story.
If you love some second-chances, soldier / wounded hero romance, then I will highly suggest Deliverance for you.
This book will leave you believing in heroes again. Troy has been in and out of Jolene’s life because he’s a Navy Seal and his time as a soldier has left him broken, devastated, fearful, and closed off to those he loves. Jolene has been through hell and back with her abusive ex-husband and he is now out of prison and on the hunt for his daughter and Jolene. Jolene knows leaving her family and friends is needed to start new again and keep her baby girl safe. She never knew that Troy Young would walk back into her life after 5 years of silence. No matter the time or distance he is still everything to her. Her body and soul reacts to him like no time has passed. She wants and needs him but she doesn’t know if her heart can take it if he decides to walk away again. She knows he has baggage as does she but their need for each other has to outweigh their fears. Watching them struggle can be heartbreaking at times but when they are together the love and compassion jumps off the page. You will enjoy their love story even through the rough patches; which unfortunately there are many. I know this story will leave you satisfied and their love is one that reiterates heroes do exists! Happy Reading!!
Deliverance is a beautifully written second chance love story that captured my heart, brought tears to my eyes and had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
Jolene and Troy’s reconnection pulled on my heartstrings and kept me smiling and gushing with love over these two. Their back and forth banter was fantastic, funny and filled with an intense desire for one another. Their connection was unbelievable and their chemistry just oozed off the pages. I loved that Troy knew instantly that Jolene needed his protection and his love. But there is just so much these two needed to go through first before they could even come close to a happy ever after.
Another well written story that was packed with emotion and filled with suspense, action, drama, twists and turns throughout and some wonderfully exciting and steamy moments that had me riveted to my seat never wanting to put it down.
Please don't let my rating deter you. Evelyn writes beautiful books and this is my personal opinion.
Try & Jo's love story is absolutely firey. There's chemistry, there's angst, there's drama - everything you'll ever want in a romance book - it's there!
Jo & Troy come with baggage. Jo is starting over from an awful marriage and Troy is dealing with becoming a civilian after being a navy SEAL. They reconnect and on a 3rd chance (which is the charm) they take the time to learn each other and fall in love all over again.
This is a grumpy/sunshine trope along with that second chance, military romance. I'm usually not too keen on military romances (PERSONAL OPINION), so for me - this wasn't as enthralling as the others. I think it's because I, personally, have a harder time relating to those characters.
The story is beautifully written and fits perfectly into the Cant Help Falling in Love series. I would recommend to anyone, it was a miss for me (personally).
This is a sweet romance even though it does have a darker edge in parts A book that draws you in from almost the first page and keeps you engaged until; you torn the last I absolutely loved Troy and Jolene(Jo)
Troy and Jo met and had one wonderful summer together but he walked away he knew his life as a top tier Seal wasn't the type of life he should offer her no matter how much he wanted to Jo moved on and married Brian and they had a daughter but Brian is her worst nightmare and abusive man who ends up in Jail. Now Jo is trying to rebuild her life with her daughter Anna May and who should walk back into her life but Troy. When Brian returns and created trouble for her Troy steps up to protect her and Anne May but in the process he works his way back into her heart Now can she break down his walls and make him realise that it is OK to love no matter what his job his and it is her decision to take the risk he may never return
“I look back at Jolene who smiles wide, and God if it isn’t right here, in this moment that I know walking away again will be the hardest thing I will ever have to do.”
This story had me feeling it all! Jolene is a single Mom to a very cute 4 yr old Anna May. Her ex-husband is in jail for drugs and rape. After taking his abuse for years she turns him in to escape his hell.
Years before her Ex she meet a Navy man out on leave. Troy was everything she wanted, but he refused to have her wait for him because they were so young.
10yrs later, Troy steps in the restaurant she’s working at and the pull he has had for her since the day he meet her is still there. Will he stick around and stay or will the Ex get the final say?
“Just give me now, beautiful. Let me love you now. Let’s not think about tomorrow.”
This book was a great read, conflict on both sides is heartbreaking. A must read! My favorite so far!

Evelyn understood the assignment with this one. She brought all the feels with this one. Ugh. The tears I shed while reading this. Have you ever loved someone who didn’t think they deserved love? Such a heartbreaking story that puts you back together at the end. I want to feel that love that Jo and Troy have. That unconditional love. The way that man loves her and her daughter. How he takes her daughter as his no questions asked. The way this whole gang of friends really behind Eachother is amazing. I can’t wait to read the last book in this series.
Stop the tears Evelyn
We loved our American hero in the book. As well as real American hero’s who fight for us. And honor the ones who didn’t make it back to us.
Jo and Troy's relationship is pretty short/quick but also long awaited! There is definitely a lot more background than most books would have had for the length of their relationship with out it being to much. Jo has had a rough few years and had raised an adorable daughter during that time while also fleeing her ex. Troy has commitment issues but it's not because he doesn't want to commit but due to past circumstances he is petrified to settle down in the beginning. Anna May and Jo both slowly start to crumble his walls. Troy and Jo's daughter Anna May have the cutest most adorable bond ever! She fully trusted her "Seal".
This was my first book that I have read by this author and it was everything and more I could have hoped for. Jo and Troy are just the perfect couple. Even with all their scars and history their second chance romance was written so perfectly. In this book the author really lays all the characters cards in the line and you feel what they feel. I'm a huge sucker for Military romance with twists along the way so this one was just right for me to read. Plus throw in a little girl and a swoon worthy man. My heart just stops.
I started this book and finished it in a single day.
I loved how this book kept me on the edge of my seat, continuously wanting to know what and how everything would happen next. You can feel the love between the characters as you read the story, along with their angst, desperation, fear, and hope.
This book is for anyone who loves a good romance, steamy scenes, and all the feels that only a great book can give you.
Please note that this book contains many triggers. If you have triggers, please read triggers before reading.
Jo and Troy are my new favorites in these sets of characters! I relate to Jo a little bit. She's a single mother trying to do it all. Work and provide for her little girl while keeping them safe. Both physically and emotionally. I went through that mentality for abit till my husband came along and quite literally bonded with my girl like Troy did with Anna May!
Their love goes through some tough situations. And they work it out. They push and make it through and that’s what matters. I cannot express how much I loved their story. I went through long distance due to military, I have family who used to go through it and friends who are still going through it and those men, women and children are some of the strongest families I know!
