As I read this book sitting by the ocean in Hawaii listening to the waves crash, I was whisked away in the story that brought me closer to God and walking in the footsteps of Christ. The authors do an amazing job connecting a contemporary tale with Thomas a’ Kempis’s book “The Imitation of Christ.” The seven steps the authors outlined in this story helped me get closer to Christ and they also included different saint perspectives and excerpts from a’ Kempis’s book that helped connect everything together for this spiritual walk. What an inspirational book for everyone!
I have been intimidated by The Imitation of Christ in the past… this book makes it so applicable and enjoyable! I found myself wanting to enroll in Matthew’s class to have the full experience. As someone who has lost their partner, I identified with Mr. G’s grief and the role this can play with our relationship with God. The authors do such an incredible job discussing difficult topics in easy, short sections. In addition, the application and background of several saints throughout the chapters gave me new insight and a desire to dive deeper into my faith. Highly recommend!
I loved this brilliant book by Taylor & Kroth. It is an engaging introduction to the classic, Imitation of Christ. It’s the tale of two professors working through the book, it introductions to Saints throughout history who have loved and lived by the book. A wonderful read!
