Brute

Never enter a house when no one knows where you are …

Grace is canvasing for the Green Party. Ugh. Knocking on doors in a clearly conservative road. But the first house is a bust, and when the second offers a kindly gent looking for assistance – she can do nothing but offer to help.

And that’s when everything goes so horribly wrong.

Grace is no long free. Grace is a captive. And the man who has her—the vile, irreprehensible Weston—is violent and brutal. He want’s nothing other than to hold her … to keep her. Chained with screams unheard, Grace’s life is about to become unbearable.

Brute is a novella full of sexual violence, vicious beatings, and contains scenes that are horrific and horrendous. It’s certainly not for everyone. Consider this a trigger warning for just about everything.

Grace is canvassing for the green party. In one of the houses on her tour she has to help an elderly man with email issues. When she wakes up, she's a prisoner in the basement. Will she survive the kidnapping? What has the old man in store for her? Violent piece of extreme pulp horror with many intriguing elements and disturbing details. The author really knows how to wrap up a bizarre, spine tingling tale. Fine twist at the end. Recommended!

Eh...not great for me. Not really much of a point aside from rape and torture. No character development or much of a point beyond that. So, it just all came across as very bland and unimportant to me. Believe me, I love nothing more than to dive into an extreme horror story. Much like how most people love sunny days, that's my idea of a good time. However, there is an art to making something akin to a splatterpunk and/or extreme horror come together. Anyone can just write violence, but a truly talented author can create a great story chock full of gore and nausea-inducing content, all with context and purpose. This, unfortunately, did not accomplish that feat. I think that fans of Ash Ericmore will probably have an ok time here, but it probably won't reach much beyond that target audience.

Don’t Go In!!!

This was a great little story, and makes you wonder what the neighbours are doing behind closed doors. I used to deliver leaflets for a friend’s mum when I was a young girl, not knowing that I was dicing with death or fearing being imprisoned and tortured by some crazy person. This was sick and a lot of fun, especially the end.....girl power!! 💪🏼

I got my grubby little hands on this a tad early and was all too excited to get into it.
This was a bit meaner than I've seen from the author. Gritty.
Very well done, loved the whole thing, start to finish. And boy...what a finish.

You know the tale as old as time, you are at someone’s door trying to tell them something, you’ve told yourself, no matter what, don’t go in a strangers home. But then you do. I mean, I would go if someone looked innocent and old. Never underestimate anyone.

This novel follows the well used theme of a woman being kidnapped and then held against her in a basement.
'She tried to glance to the door of the library, get her bearings, but her head didn’t seem to want to do that. It wanted to roll around like she was drunk. She hadn’t been drinking … it was too early for that.'

It is extremely rare that a book leaves me wondering how to review or rate it and also leaves me with so many conflicting opinions on its content. So I have split opinions on this book and will just detail the most prominent of those below.
On the positive side of things, I felt that this a well-written and fast-paced book that managed to keep me riveted to its events right until the conclusion. I guess it was exactly what you would expect from an extreme horror with lots of sex, violence and some downright depraved scenes.
So, now for the negatives. In some respects, I felt there was nothing new here. The plot followed a theme which has been covered over and over in many different guises and ultimately did very little to differentiate itself from the crowd.
Ultimately this was a thoroughly entertaining read which at times managed to garner some pretty extreme reactions from me, and that isn't something that often happens to me. I am not shocked or scared easily.

Would I recommend this? Yeah, I probably would, but with a few warnings to go with the recommendation.

This was definitely a disturbing read...she's partially drugged, head beaten with silver tray. She wakes up beaten and bruised chained to the bed. When she doesn't comply she's brutally attack. Taken against her will after another beating. She's force fed human excrement... All in all this story felt thrown together with abuse, A slight plot twist, ending in a semi revenge. Quick read thank goodness.

Brutal

I don't even read the blurbs anymore. If Ash has a new release I just one click it and get stuck. This was brutal. Ash went dark and full of grit with this one and did it extremely well. I now need more brutality by Ericmore.

3.5 rounded up.

I might revisit my rating when I'm not so tapped out on stories with . This one doesn't have quite the same underlying humor and quality characterization I've found in other Ericmore work but it's still a fast paced gruesome story with a pretty satisfying ending.

Enjoyed

Well I really enjoyed this read, it grabbed your attention from the start and held you til the very end. Loved the story and how it evolved, ending with a great little twist at the end. The characters were great Weston appeared friendly and pleasant but has a sinister side. Grace a young woman doing her job then makes an error in judgement although that little voice is telling her the opposite. A gripping story that is definitely worth checking out. Recommended.

Well, that was 45 mins wasted. I read horror, I like horror movies, I enjoy being scared. This wasn't scary, creepy, or thrilling. There's no real storytelling in my opinion and at least for me that's what makes a good horror story, the ways in which the story is told. If people like it, good, people clearly do, but I don't fancy reading this again and I love re-reads. Honestly without there being a review I most likely would have forgotten I've read it all together. Do with this as you will, no hate to those who like it, its just not my meh-ist thing in the world.

As short as this story was, no time was wasted getting to horror. Aside from editing issues it was a quick and intense read. Once I got started I had to continue just to see how it finished. A little note to remember, when canvassing do not go into the house.

This has been in my TBR for AGES and it’s also my first book from Ash Ericmore and I was not disappointed, but neither impressed.
It is a brutal story of extreme horror with kidnapping, torture, violence, revenge. Basically everything you want from an extreme horror story!
Because it’s a short novella, we don’t get much depths of the characters, but that’s not to expect from this kind of horror! You get what you pay for - extreme horror, nothing more, nothing less.

It’s a 💀💀💀/💀💀💀💀💀 from me, but I will definitely read more from him for sure🖤 You get most of his books on @godlesshorrors ☠️🤘🏽🤘🏽

After having read a few hefty books lately, I was in the mood for a quick read. I took a punt on Brute by Ash Ericmore, and I'm glad I did. I'm kinda fussy when it comes to extreme horror. I've enjoyed plenty, but I hate it when the story only serves to move a character from one awful set-piece to another, like some sort of platform video game. I don't care about the characters, and the story's sole point of existence is to be as 'shocking' as possible. That does nothing for me.
Thankfully, that wasn't the case with Brute. I liked the character of Grace. I rooted for her to get the better of her captor. The story focuses on Grace, so you get a good feel for who she is. The only downside is that the villain isn't quite as fleshed out, but this is a short story at 80 pages, so I guess it makes sense that there isn't time to dive into what makes Weston tick. It's a shame, as he comes off as a little two-dimensional. Still, that's my only criticism. It's a great story that sucked me in from the get-go. I shall definitely be reading more from this author.

Always enjoy a good torture porn. Once again loved Ash's short sharp writing style and the violent nature of the story. An intriguing tale with a massively vile and mean spirited side to it that you'd expect from such a book. A little short, but a good read.

This book is so gross 🤢..that I was this close 👌to puke my guts out 🥴…nd I was eating on that time 😭…..

That’s why it is said not to enter strangers house 🏡…Grace made the same mistake when she entered that old man’s house ..poor girl ..That old bastard beats the shit out of her bcz it was fun for him and his son..

Grace tried to curl into a ball, covering her head, bringing her knees up into her chest, trying so desperately to protected herself. He used one hand to pull her arm away from her. Their eyes able to meet. He punched her, tight fisted, brutally, into the side of the head. The pain screamed out. She felt blood let from the tray wound, re-opened. She tried to scream, but she couldn’t, her throat was tight. It wouldn’t let her scream.

He relaxed his fist and then roughly took both her wrists in one hand. Binding them together with such strength he may as well have slapped cuffs on her. Strength she didn’t think a man of his years could have. Then he back-handed slapped her. She spat blood out, onto the sheet on the bed. She felt her nose close to air. Blood rushing down her face.

that’s not enough when Grace refused to eat ..old bastard forced shit down her throat 🤢🤢🤢

Weston came around the corner. He was holding a bowl. A silver dish like a cereal bowl. He came to her. Not worrying that he’d gotten within her circle, and he placed the bowl down on the mattress. “Eat,” he said. Grace looked at the bowl. It had shit in it. Faeces. The smell wafted up under her nose. She looked at it, wet … fresh. Her eyes jumped up to Weston. Was it … his? She shook her head. “What?” she said. “Eat it,” he said. He was calm. She could feel the anger beneath the veneer, though. She could see he was boiling under there.

Weston suddenly moved. He reached down and slipped his fingers into the shit, scooping out a handful, and with his other hand he grabbed Grace by the hair. So fast, she was unable to do anything about it, her arms a tangle in the sheet, he pulled her head back and slapped his fingers scooped with shit to her lips. She wanted to keep her mouth shut. It was what she wanted most in the whole world, but the instinct to scream was great, and she screamed. Her mouth open, he pushed the shit into her mouth, violating her with his fingers as he jammed them in, sloping shit between her lips. She was unable to clamp her teeth down. Bite, the voice was saying, bite! But he was knuckle deep into her maw, the stink of shit up her nose, she could taste it on her tongue. He pulled his hand out, reaching for another scoop, and Grace retched. She didn’t mean to, but she retched and swallowed, his shit, warm shit, slipping down her throat like mucus being swallowed back.

my whole mood spoiled after reading this book 🥴😭..I know nobody forced me ..but yuck ..m not going to rate this book ..sorryyyy

Grace is canvassing for the Green Party one day when she knocks on the door of an old man who asks for her help. Little did she know, entering his home would be her biggest mistake.

This was a quick read about a kidnapped girl being kept in a sadistic man's basement. It keeps your attention through out the entire novella, and it has some darker themes. I though the final twist was well done, and I hadn't expected it so I enjoyed it!

Most extreme horror doesn’t get a better rating than this from me. This is typical for the genre. Girl gets captured, tortured, raped, forced to eat feces blah blah blah read it all before. I’ve read pretty much everything by Jon Athan, Matt Shaw, Sam West, and others. You aren’t going to shock me. I guess I am numb to this stuff. Still, fun little story with a pretty kickass ending.

“What will you do?”

How far does someone need to be pushed before they lose the line between humanity and devil? Grace would soon come to understand that answer all too well, and become in herself the very monster she faced. Going door to door looking for recruits for the voting campaign, she stumbled upon a new set of neighborhoods; this one seemingly filled with the rich and elite. Someplace safe, somewhere nothing bad would possibly happen to a young woman on her own. Or so she would think. Knocking on her first door brought a disheveled and angry man to the door, irritated by her intrusion. Facing little luck, she knocked to the second house where an elderly gentleman named Weston opened the door. Lulling her in slowly, she went against every screaming voice and followed him into his home until the guise of finding photos of his grandchildren in his email. Offered tea that she refused to drink, it wasn’t until he attached her and best her unconscious would her real nightmares personally begin. Coming to In a darkened basement, her ankle was tethered to a chain on the mattress that would become her prison. Beaten releasable, starved and dehydrated, he forced his own fever into her mouth before eventually raping and brutalizing her past a breaking point. It wouldn’t be until he tried to give her more tea that she would fake unconsciousness, That she tricked him and best him severely with the tea cup before chaining his foot to the bed. Creeping up the stairs, is where she realizes she’s in the house from before, and Justin, his son was lying in wait for her all along. As he ambushed her and attempted to drag her into the basement again, she knocked them both down the stairs leaving his knock broken and him deceased on the floor. Feeling the Hatred and cruelty blossoming in her chest, she leaves the body with Weston and a single cup of Coffee, telling him that’ll be all he has for food and drink. Three weeks after her ordeal she claimed to of forgotten everything, even as she wonders deep inside of he had eaten the corpse of his son.

“It won’t get you anywhere.”

Brute 👨‍🦳

Thank you so much to Ericmore for sending me the code for this on audible! I listened to this within a couple of hours, it was a nail biting read that put me through all the emotions. Weston was a pos 😭

Grace hated doing door to door, it was a tedious job but someone has to do it! The first door she knocks on doesn’t go down very well so when she comes across an old man that’s so very welcoming on the second door & he asks for help inside she’s more than happy to help assist him!

Unfortunately that old man isn’t all he seems & within minutes she’s knocked out & held captive by the most sadistic horrible Weston…

Oh I did feel so sorry for Grace! Her inner thoughts are what kept her going & fighting until the end! The twist though!!! I did not see that coming at all!

Another brilliant read from Ash, this one really did grip me!! Thank you again for the code!

This one is available on KU for all you KU lovers but do check the triggers! 🤎

I was expecting a hell of a lot more from this book, the title and cover stood out at me but I'm afraid to say the contents of the pages didn't. I wasn't captivated by it at all...the story line or the characters. This plot has been done so many times...Girl knocks on door...girl gets kidnapped....girl gets chained and locked in a basement.... girl gets raped, beaten and tortured etc etc...read it all before (boring)!! Maybe I've been spoiled by reading books written by the fabulous minds of authors such as Jon Athan,Matt Shaw and Edward Lee??? It wasn't extreme horror...pretty mild really. If you're just getting into books of this nature, then maybe this is a good one to start off with...other than that... if you're experienced with extreme gruesome horror, then give it a wide birth!!!

Grace is salty af. She’s been roped by her girlfriend, Carol, into canvasing for the Green Party.

She’s in an affluent neighborhood, and she assumes all the residents are conservatives. Strong wealth envy in this one.

When Grace rings the bell at a stunning house, a handsome older gentleman greets her.

The old man seems so nice and kind. He invites her in. His name is Weston, and he needs some help with his laptop. He’s trying to locate an email with photos of his granddaughter, but that new-fangled technology is so confusing!

Could really use some strong editing.

Scary and creepy. Does get a bit repetitive. There’s one super-gross element that…yeah…

This would also benefit from some exposition of Weston.

The conclusion is adequate.

When an elderly man asks for her help, Grace doesn’t see the harm. He’s old; he’s lonely; and he lives in an upmarket area. So begins a brutal tale where underestimation will be your downfall.

This is very dark and disturbing. What stands out in quite a popular trope is the horror in the anticipation; the sharing of Grace’s confusion of what he wants.

Nearly lost the contents of my stomach at one point - so don’t read while eating!
