Oooh boy. I know what you're thinking. A Severus Snape/Y/N insert? Not in this day and age. But hear me out. I can confidently say, of all the Y/N's I've read on all platforms since 2012, this one is hands down the best one yet. There was actual plot, conflict, and character development. I really liked how Snape and, ugh, Y/N's origin story was set up and how they combated it in Hogwarts. (BTW, it is a student/teacher relationship she is age of consent from the start). It felt genuine and the internal struggle from Snape's behalf felt really believable, where I find it's nonexistent in other fics based on him. I do think the story lagged a bit about 70% of the way through, when it starts circling the war. I feel maybe it could've been cut off sooner than that. But overall I really liked reading this, and would definitely consider it a re-read. My rating stands as such:

1 star- DNF'd
2 star- read through but didn't enjoy a minute of it
3 star- enjoyed reading, may re-read
4 star- fell out of my seat, definitely re-read
5 star- a spectacular work that wrecked my very being and for that fact, may never want to touch again

Oh my fucking god. I'm finally free

Why ? Why the hell did I do that ? I was lowkey enjoying the book at first (for like a good 500 pages). Read them in 2 days. Then it got annoying. Then worst: it became BORING. And I was only 900 pages into the book (mind you that there's 1200+).
I think what made me grow to despise this book was:
- obviously the length for one thing: I usually like long books as they tend to grow on me but this one just didn't do it. It grew on my nerves sure.
- How quickly I've read it. Because no matter what I say I was OBSESSED. I HAD to finish the damn book. Which does not make it good. Just impossible to get it out of my mind.
But it's not the author fault or whatever, I'm pretty convinced I would have been HOOKED if I had started reading it when it first issued and I had to wait for every chapter.
But I was so eager to finish it only to come to realise that.... It's not finished yet........

You know what kept me going ? The promise that Snape would die. (which was never promised but as the author kept sticking to what JK Rowling wrote I figured it made sense to think he would die)

I realise now I haven't yet explained in this review what made me like the book and what totally lost my attention. Well for one thing I LOVED reading about Snape. His character, his background and all of that. And I came to despise the part where he would soften, where y/n would be mad at him or convinced he doesn't like her... 🫩
And if you're reading this (considering anyone's reading this review apart from my future self probably. Hi by the way. Hoped you're reading something good rn ?) you're probably thinking "Girl what you like is just the part where the author paraphrases JK Rowling". BUT I DIDN'T KNOW. I haven't read Harry Potter in such a long time and I thought I remembered it but NOT AT ALL and rn all I'm craving is to reread Harry Potter (which is why I wanted to finish this book first but it seems like the book finished me..)

Overall I would not say it's a bad book and yes I keep referring to it as a book and not a fanfiction I don't know why. But I wouldn't recommend it either as I simply did not enjoy the whole thing...
This review is unuseful, I even hesitated to wrote it as there is not many comments under that fic and I really hope no one's going to be offended by what I say but that's just my opinion anyway.
And idk the author but maybe they stopped writing because they, too, have grown tired of it ? I know I would be running out of ideas atp.
