Risking their hearts and their lives while protecting the innocent…

Will they find the kidnapped boy in time?

Sign language teacher Aubrey Clark feels responsible when ten-year-old Lucas goes missing. She’s determined to find her deaf student and knows more than she should from reading the lips of the man involved in the boy’s disappearance. Now she’s in the killer’s crosshairs too. Aubrey has little choice but to accept Navy SEAL Mason Gray’s protection, grateful for his help in searching for Lucas.

Mason’s last op as a Navy SEAL had gone sideways, leaving him deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other. But he’s not going to let his handicap prevent him and his K9 scent tracker, Bravo, from rescuing a deaf child. Mason has never balked at putting his life on the line for his country or to ensure the safety of women and children. But risking his heart? That wasn’t supposed to be part of the plan . . .

Woohoo -- we're off to a great start in a new-to-me K-9 series and I might be a little obsessed. :-) Love the series theme -- retired Navy SEALs struggling with integrating back into civilian life with their special dogs who make that transition easier. And Mason makes for a great introduction to these men and the difficulties they face. An injury has left Mason deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other, so his acclimation is particularly tricky.

That's where Aubrey comes in. She's a Sign Language teacher who works with both children and adults. Mason is a student and a unique set of circumstances draw them together in a desperate search for a kidnapped child. This is very much an insta-love kind of romance, so consider yourself forewarned if that isn't your jam. I enjoyed the splashes of humour and banter between these two in the midst of all the tension and danger.

Speaking of which, this romantic suspense is packed with action and edge-of-your-seat moments. Sometimes I was ahead of our intrepid sleuths and sometimes I was a step or two behind, but I was always glued to the page. And now I'm ready to dive into the second book in the 'Called to Protect' series, 'Sealed With Honor.' I'm in a suspense-y kinda mood, it seems. :-)

An interesting premise. Good work with the deaf characters.

Other parts of the story.... the constant prayers are a serious distraction. This might not be the case if you are religious, but if the character does something or is about to do something really stupid, praying isn't going to help much.

The h was rather... fairly close to TSTL for a lot of the book. I found the ignorance and lack of forethought etc to be very off putting. The H was little better (dude, if the bad guys see your giant SUV... then why the heck are you still driving it around? are you TRYING to get shot at???)

The chemistry between the H and h was inconsistent.

shes a teacher of deaf , sign language. she was born deaf but got cochlear implant

he was seal, he has k9, he got deaf in one ear and cant hear good out of the other from blast so they are no longer working. he met her in class

she reported one of the kids that had bruises, then went to his apt at night when he didnt show up for school 2 days in a row. she lip read the man saying the mother would disappear like her son if she told anyone. he saw her from the window

she took off and the former seal helped her get away

but when they got to her house a drive by shot at them

he took her to his house and they called the police

now they are using the dog to see if they can track the missing boy

this book was a great idea, i just dont think people can go around shooting and no one is doing anything about it when they tell the cops they did it

they found the boy and decided to marry and adopt him

This series is about former Navy Seals transitioning and acclimating to civilian life along with their K-9 partners. Sealed with Courage has an interesting plot line involving the deaf community. Audrey, a sign language teacher for both kids and adults, and retired Navy Seal Mason, who is deaf in one ear, work together to track down one of Audrey's students who has gone missing.
This had plenty of suspense, action, romance, and several close calls.

Christian romantic suspense. A deaf child from teacher Aubrey’s class at the School for the Deaf is missing. She will do anything to find Lucas. A student in her adult class is helping her. Mason is a retired Navy Seal who was partially deafened by an explosion while deployed. Along with his highly trained K-9, Bravo, Mason and Aubrey fight the bad guys and search for the missing child.

This story is awesome! I love ALPHA heroes who are vulnerable in one aspect and in this book, Mason has to deal with some hearing loss after a mission from his Navy SEALs days. He's trying to make the best of it by learning sign language while he navigates his "after life" of the SEALs. His teacher, Aubrey, teaches at a school for the Deaf but gives adult classes. She becomes worried about a 10-year-old boy in one of her regular classes who suddenly stops coming to class after she suspects abuse and goes to his low-rent apartment to talk to his mother only to witness a threatening situation with a man and the mother! Mason happened to follow Aubrey because of where she was going and helps her escape. They decide to team up and find the missing boy. I loved the interaction between these two. Mason, a big SEAL guy and Aubrey, a teacher! Aubrey's character grew so much during the book. She because strong, confident and let go of her past. Mason was almost the opposite. He became tender and sweet, but also let go of his past! I enjoyed the investigation of finding the boy and it had a LOT of action! I can't wait to read the next books about Mason's other SEAL buddies!

Great introduction to a new series

Aubrey is a sign language teacher who is trying to find a student who has not been in school for two days after she saw bruises on his arm. She sees something she shouldn't and turns to run only to run into Mason and his K-9 dog Bravo. When Mason, who takes her adult classes, walks her home someone tries to shoot her. Then he definitely is not letting her try to find Lucas without him. There is a lot of action in this story. Mason tries to keep his distance, but Aubrey's feisty determination is so appealing as is her strong Christian faith.

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character and action oriented storyline that has some kissing but no steam. The characters are vivid and engaging. We hear about some of the future characters, but this story is all Aubrey, Mason and Bravo. The Christian values are woven into the story and don't seem to be just added in. If this sounds good to you, then try this story for yourself and see. Enjoy!

Aubrey, sign language teacher, checks up on an absent student, getting herself caught in the middle of a deadly gang conflict. She is rescued by a Navy SEAL recovering from hearing loss, and his K-9 teammate.

Some examples of issues I have with this book:

“He was sure the [kiss] was meant to be sweet and friendly, but the moment their mouths met,…”
A woman kissing a man on the mouth is never “just friendly.”

“As their mouths fused…”
Sounds creepy.

“He shot the front engine.”
Not the back engine?

“Imperceptibly, the boy relaxed and didn’t look nearly as afraid.”
If it was ‘imperceptibly,’ how did Mason perceive it?

“He gave Bravo the signal for attack. … Bravo grabbed the man’s ankle with his mouth…”
Dogs are usually trained to grab arms.

Contains: Premarital kissing, mentions of prostitution, blood, murder.

A Missing Deaf Child

Aubrey teaches sign language and lip reading to deaf children and to adults. Lucas is a ten year old boy in one of her classes. His mother came to a few of the classes, and then stopped. Aubrey wants her to come back. Then Lucas doesn't show up for class for a couple days. Aubrey goes to Lucas' apartment at night. She looks through the window, and sees Jose, Lucas' mother's boyfriend. He tears out of the building towards Aubrey. She is terrified. From the shadows a strong man and his dog step to help her race away. Mason, a former SEAL and his service dog Bravo are determined to help Aubrey find Lucas. Laura Scott has written a suspenseful book with outstanding characters.

Then again at her home so he takes her to his home.Aubrey, Mason,Bravo starts looking for Lucas while trying not to get killed. Great read😊😁

‘Sealed with Courage’ was riveting. The tense plot focused on Audrey, a teacher for deaf students who visited ten-year-old Lucas’s home to find out why he hadn’t been at school. She was met with hostility in the form of the mother’s boyfriend who appeared to be a gang member. In walked Mason and Bravo, a retired naval SEAL who looked out for Aubrey and his trusted K-9. While searching for Lucas, they encountered Jose, the mom’s boyfriend, and his henchmen carrying guns. Uh oh…this won’t end well. With several mini-adventures ducking and dodging the bad men and their bullets, hopefully, Lucas would be found and the protagonists Mason and Aubrey would get their HEA. Overall, I liked the thrilling narrative.

Good, a little suspense, a very small amount of romance

I liked the story, though there was little romance if any. I don't think mason or the heroine ever talked about anything except Lucas & where to find him. The kidnapping itself & whodunit were good. Most of the story involved Mason risking his life, the heroine not listening & doing what she wanted, Mason caving in, even letting her tell him what they should do. And a couple of things felt off in the story, but overall it was good. I like this author & have read several really good stories by her. This wasn't her best effort.

Loved being with this author again. Mason and Aubrey story was exciting from start to finish. Mason had always been a protector. So his unexpected meeting with Aubrey. Put him into protective mode. He and his dog Bravo made a great team. Aubrey was just the women Mason needed. Aubrey had some what fall in love with Mason before he came to her rescue. They made into a good team looking for young Lucas. Who Aubrey had fell in love with as she was working with him as his teacher. Mason and Aubrey met up with some bad men. But Mason was able to subdue them. So happy this the story ended will read more in this series.

Action, Suspense, and Love. This book has it all! But be warned: Laura Scott doesn't shy away from rough topics! A young boy is kidnapped and they are afraid he is being... Violated. Which is a valid fear in today's world.

Mason and Aubrey need to work together to get the boy back. Can they learn to work as a team?

I also love how deafness is included in this book. I am not deaf so I may be wrong, but it seems like Laura showed how people who either are completely deaf or mostly deaf can still function in the world, but how some things will always be a challenge. It was great to see disability inclusion.

Sign Language teacher Aubrey Clark cares about her students. So, when she notices what appears to be hand marks on one of her students, she reports the possibility of abuse which leads to his disappearance. Mason is an ex-Navy SEAL who has lost partial hearing. He is in her classroom. Together they are diligently looking for her missing student. This is an action packed story on the streets of San Diego. I loved his K-9 partner Bravo. Aubrey’s strong faith is a big part of the story as well. This was a very enjoyable book that was clean and full of action.

SEAL to the rescue

Mason is a retired SEAL with total hearing loss in one ear and 60% loss in the other. He attends a class taught by Aubrey for adults with hearing loss or who have a family member who is deaf. Nanette attends because her 10 year old son is deaf & mute. Then her son Lucas disappears. Aubrey & Mason combine their skills to track down the man who kidnapped Lucas & who then killed Nanette. A very good start to a series about SEALS & their lives after a mission gone bad leaves each of them with varying disabilities.

Suspense and romance

This is the first book in the Called to Protect series. It is Mason and Aubreys' story. It's a great story, with a lot of heart. Aubrey is gutsy and determined. Mason, an ex Navy Seal, is learning to live as a civilian after an explosion left him partially deaf. Their quest to rescue a little boy who was kidnapped is intense. Add in the developing romance between them, and this ended up being a very good story.

Sealed with Courage

My first book by this author and I loved it! This book has two of my favorite themes Military and Deafness and the fact that the author made sure to show that signing did not impede on a persons ability to use a cochlear implant.
The story was well written, even though some parts has obvious lax behavior between the cops and the main characters, it is a very enjoyable read. I will be reading more stories from this author, for sure.

A solid Christian Suspense Romance, Sealed with Courage was a quick and entertaining read. I did get annoyed with Aubrey and her constant need to “protect” Mason when, in reality, she couldn’t and didn’t need to. I loved Bravo, the retired MWD K-9 with the drive to continue to protect and serve. Their desire to rescue Lucas, the kidnapped, deaf boy Aubrey had been teaching, was the driving force behind not only the plot line but the developing romance.

Aubrey and Mason

Aubrey is a teacher at a school for deaf children. She also teaches an adult class in American Sign Language to help parents learn to communicate with their children.

Mason is taking Audrey's class because on his last mission as a Navy SEAL, he lost all of his hearing in his left ear and 60% of hearing g in his. right ear.

They come together to find Lucas a year year old deaf and mute child who has gone missing!

Story that shows

Very good story that has mystery.. Adventure... Love.. Kindness for others ... Two strong willed people learning to work together ... Bad guys ... I really enjoyed the fact the author wasn't afraid to have the characters believing in God and faith that he does answer prayers..... Thanks again for that and it wasn't preachy at all... ! Will buy more

I thought this series sounded good, and put the ones that are out on my birthday wish list - 1-3. I got them on my birthday, May 26th, and dove into them immediately. Awesome reads, great characters and plots....and I love the idea of former SEALS all dealing with some kind of injury and protecting people

Slow to start but just like true love, worth the wait!

Getting to know the characters and their personalities as the first part f the story, then the drama unfolded and then we understand the issues behind a missing boy. You cannot help but be caught up in the developments in this adventure.
