I’d obviously heard of FIRE before, but this was actually the first book I read on the subject. I found it interesting and informative, but if you’ve already read other books about FIRE, this one might feel a little repetitive.

The author is very thorough, organized, and methodical. He covers everything from setting financial goals and calculating your FIRE number to the different types of FIRE, common myths, and practical tips for reaching financial independence. I really liked how clearly everything was laid out, and I found the book motivating. It was refreshing after some of the latest books I’ve read on the subject where the author makes you feel guilty for not saving and investing over 20% of your income right from 20yo 🙃

These companion/related indie books carry forward the energy of The Money Resolution. They are readable, actionable, and especially strong when it comes to lifestyle design and savings discipline. The idea that one can accelerate retirement by making conscious choices about what to spend, what to save, and what trade‑offs are acceptable is well presented.

What they don’t always offer: deep guidance for retirement income strategies (withdrawals, pensions, taxation in older age), nor always enough scaffolding for someone starting from very modest means. But these are fine complements to more technical works, and beneficial especially for those who need inspiration and concrete steps now.
