Riverside Lane, Cranberry… just so wholesome. Sigh. I read these books more for the settings and the community than for anything else. Such idyllic, quaint places, that come along with wonderful, wholesome communities. Good places to escape to once in a while.

I am loving this series so much and this was another fabulous instalment.

Mollie is a wonderful character, who has a great story arc over the course of the book.

She is always there for her friends and occasionally wonders if she is a bit of a doormat, until an opportunity comes along that looks perfect for her, if she has the confidence to take it.

Then there is Logan, a man incredibly talented with his hands, and one who is happy to try to do anything to help his grandad out, even while he is generally trying to heal after a painful break up.

And how great it was to catch up with everyone from the previous 3 books. We get to see a lot from all the Cranbridge regulars.

Not to mention lashings of cake, a cosy feel to it, assorted other storyline that caught my attention.

Was able to read this over two sunny afternoons in the garden and I can't think of a better way to have spent the time than curled up with a warm and loving book.

Was a sheer pleasure to read this, and I really hope this wasn't the last we have seen of Riverside Lane.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,

The four-book series comes to a fitting end with this book all about chasing your dreams and finding fulfilment. I always like a baking-themed story so I knew that Molly’s tale would be right up my street.

To be honest, you don’t need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this story. I haven’t managed to read the first book but it was lovely to see familiar faces popping up in this novel, especially Dodgy Del! I liked how Sherlock develops his character – I think it was long overdue – and shows a more supportive side to his nature that helps the community.

In this summery story, Molly has the opportunity of opening a tea garden in an overgrown, unused shop by the river. The description of the setting was once again very idyllic and I loved the concept of Molly’s business. Next door, new arrival Logan has returned to Cranbridge to avoid journalists after a car crash marriage and I loved watching how sparks start to fly between the two characters. The plot development was very formulaic but I enjoyed how the community pulled together to help each other out, even if there is the predicted miscommunication along the way.

Molly is surrounded by very supportive friends and it is evident that she needs this. She has very low self-esteem and confidence: she is a mirror of her mother. Yet, I did find Molly’s uncertainties a bit grating and how she allowed herself to be dominated by her friends and their decisions about how Molly should best run her tea room. I wanted to see Molly have more inner strength and not “roll over” by stronger characters. Whilst she does grow in the story, I think I found the earlier version of Molly somewhat frustrating.

This was a lovely tale and one you can dip in and out of on a summer holiday. Thanks to the short chapters, you don’t need to invest too much time in at and I liked the simple, summery nature of the plot. Although Molly was perhaps not my most favourite of protagonists, I loved watching the relationship between her and Logan, as well as Logan and his grandfather. With the happy ending of Molly finally making herself happy with her baking, this has feel-good vibes all the way throughout.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What you see is what you get with this book. It's sweet, slower-paced, and almost everyone operates with kindness and respect for others. People work through their problems and communicate for the most part, too. If you are looking for a comfortable read, this is your book.

This is more of an observation about this type of book than about this book in particular: I often marvel at the economies of these small villages which seem to be overrun with successful tea shops, caterers, bookstores, cupcakeries, dog groomers, wedding planners, and jewelry designers.

This book is part of a series by Alison, set in a fictional Cotswold Village called Cranbridge. This is book 4 and follows; The Village Shop for Lonely Hearts, The Village of Lost and Found, and The Village Inn of Secret Dreams.

I have enjoyed all of these so far and this book was no exception, it was like returning to a familiar hometown village and I’ve loved watching it slowly breath back to life over the course of these books!

This book is Molly’s turn to have centre stage, she deserves a bit of happiness after the way her ex and best friend treated her - but you’ll have to read the previous books to find out why. Because it focuses on a different central character you can read this as a standalone novel but personally I’d prefer to read the others first as you get to know all the individuals and the village a bit better that way.

It was such a lovely idea that Molly comes up with and as a keen fan of tea and cake (I mean, who isn’t!?) I would definitely be a regular customer of hers. It was great to see her confidence absolutely blossom over the course of this book but even more so when we see the same thing happening for Olivia and Molly’s mum.

As with the others this book has such a strong sense of community that you really feel like you know everyone in reality. You’ve got the 4 main girls and their partners who the books are focused on but I think the older members of the community bring that something extra and just make you smile. I mean Frank, Stanley and Grandma Tilly are a force to be reckoned with!!!

I am so hoping that there is going to be another book or two in this series as I feel like I could read about Riverside Lane, Cranbridge and it’s residents for ever!

I don't know if this is the last book in the series but if it is then it was a wonderful ending as the title suggest "the Village of Happy Ever Afters", and we even get a wedding! I love this quaint village and the way that the community comes together it's like a big happy family. I love this cozy little series!

*Cosy Romance*

With her close friends all having their dreams realised and living their best life, Molly although happy for them wonders if she will ever find her forever love.

She has always been good at baking which is her dream but how to go about making it a reality. Her friends help to encourage her to take the necessary steps although Molly is still unsure.

With effort she dives into it with a temporary pop up Village tea garden that has seen better days. Once again the villagers step in to make it look presentable

On his way down to Cranbridge is Logan who is in need of a quiet life after his marriage spectacularly fails in the most public way with his wife leaving him for another man. He is a cabinet maker and with the help of his grandad he rents a shop and sets about minding his business.

Now we see get to see if Molly can make a go of running the tea garden and whether Logan can finally stop keeping everyone at arms lengths

Will Logan get used to Cranbridge? And will Molly find her dream life?

A great easy escapism read and I love the sound of this feel good community of people who often go the extra mile and the setting sounds idyllic

I have tried to read all of the books in the series, but failed. Did not finish any of them. Honestly, I think the ideas behind the stories are good and have a potential for something readable. Unfortunately, the execution is a huge disappointment. My main problem was "too much information way too soon". One needs only two chapters to know what will happen at the end. There is no suspension, no drama, no nothing.
On a verge of being boring, these books are not "my cup of tea".
Definitely, expected more!

What an amazing story. Molly is a lovely character and I found myself empathising with her and identifying with her. Needing to trust yourself and believe in yourself can be hard, but oh so wonderful when you finally learn how to. I enjoyed seeing her progress and find her strength and confidence. Logan was lovely too, he was trying to hide and forgot the rest of the world existed, but Molly stepped up again and showed him what true friends could be like. Seeing their friendship and relationship grow was wonderful and I loved reading every page of it. The village of Cranbridge sounds like the perfect place to live.

This is the perfect escape read and I’ve loved being back in Cranbridge with the brilliant characters Alison Sherlock has created. This time it’s Molly’s story and I really enjoyed seeing her confidence grow as she started on the Tea Garden in the village. Cranbridge is one of those perfect story settings and I always feel like I can picture the shop fronts with Frank and Stanley say outside with their coffee observing the world going by.

A lovely 4th instalment in the series: Molly, working in the Village Hub, has a dream but no confidence while Logan is escaping an infamous split and divorce.

WARNING Review contains spoilers.

The last couple of shops on Riverside Lane are dirty and unloved: can they make them lovely again... and will they end up with each other???

Of course the answer is yes... spoilers... but you don't really read these books for the surprises. I love the village characters, the community, the location (so familiar in some way, so very Bourton on the Water) and the cosiness of cuddling into a chair, coffee in hand, and escaping every day life for a short while at least. Just the remedy for the world as it is at the moment.

Oh... and there will be cakes in the book. Lots of cakes.

Adorable story! Such an idyllic setting. This book is part four of a series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Heart warming and thoroughly enjoyable. I do love a story where all the loose ends are tied up. Feel good from the start with a sense of community and people pulling together for the greater good. Loved following these women through this stories and this was was a fantastic conclusion.

Very sweet way to end the Riverside lane series. Followed Molly's journey of discovering what she is passionate about and opening her own tea garden. Felt this book was more simple than the previous books in this series and was easy to read, had a lovely development with Logan and I enjoyed the details included. Less drama in this book and beautifully wrapped up all 4 girls stories.

I think Alison Sherlock has a feel for a certain kind of life-affirming (if unrealistic) fiction. Unfortunately, she's let down by poor writing technique and a lack of narrative drive. I'm kept going by a need to root for the secondary characters, who are possibly the best bit about this series.

I have been a fan of Alison’s work for a little while now. I haven’t quite caught up with everything that she has written but I am getting there. I have a particular fondness for the ‘Riverside Lane’ series. I read and loved the first three books in the series and I couldn’t wait to read the fourth book in the series. Well ladies and gents the wait is over because the fourth book in the series is called ‘The Village Of Happy Ever Afters’ and it was released on 31st March 2022. It’s another cracker of a read and then some. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Village Of Happy Ever Afters’ but more about that in a bit.
It didn’t take me long at all to get into ‘The Village Of Happy Ever Afters’. In fact as soon as I started reading, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to put the book down for very long at all. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. I warmed to the two lead characters Molly and Logan from the start and they both began to feel like friends of mine. Both have been hurt in the past and they are trying to build new lives for themselves whilst at the same time trying to heal. I had my own suspicions as to what was going to happen and I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered down the wrong path entirely. I would pick the book up only intending to read a chapter or two but I would become so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the characters, that I would still be sat there reading over several chapters and an hour later. I seemed to race through the story. I found ‘The Village Of Happy Ever Afters’ to be a joy to read.
‘The Village Of Happy Ever Afters’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Alison Sherlock. Alison has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of her books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. Alison creates adorable characters who are impossible to dislike. Alison cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She describes them so vividly and so realistically that the characters seem just as real as you and I. I love the way in which Alison makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. I enjoyed reading this book so much that I was all set to pack a suitcase reading to move to ‘Riverside Lane’ as the whole place and the characters within it seemed so lovely. This book certainly made me chuckle and did more to cheer me up in one afternoon than anything else could have done.
In short, I adored reading ‘The Village Of Happily Ever Afters’ and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Alison’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

It’s such a treat to return back to Cranbridge with Alison Sherlock’s delightful new novel about following your heart, pursuing your dreams and falling in love: The Village of Happy Ever Afters.

Molly Hopkins has decided that the time has come for her to make something out of her passion for baking. All of her friends on Riverside Lane have made their goals a reality and it’s high time she did the same, so she decides to open a tea garden in the village of Cranbridge hoping to give the local community a place to enjoy their summer while sampling delicious bakes and drinking uplifting beverages. Molly will do whatever it takes to make the tea garden a roaring success – providing that she doesn’t get distracted by newcomer Logan Armstrong.

With the acrimonious end of his last relationship, Logan wants to lie low to lick his wounds in peace. Cranbridge looks like the ideal place for Logan to be at the moment and he is determined to keep everyone at bay during this most delicate time. Romance is certainly not on the cards for Logan who intends to keep his heart firmly under lock and key – until he meets Molly Hopkins and he begins to feel emotions he never thought he would experience ever again.

Determined to make his beloved grandfather’s wish of seeing the old watermill working again, Logan finds himself becoming a part of the community as he begins to ask the villagers for their help and assistance. The more time Logan spends with Molly, the more he finds himself falling for her. Will Molly help to mend his broken heart? Or will his fears and doubts put paid to the possibility of a future with the tea shop owner?

Will Molly manage to make a success of her tea garden? Or will she let her lack of confidence sabotage her business? This summer in Cranbridge is going to be one to remember as everybody’s hopes and dreams for the future look set to come true. However, life in this charming village is far from predictable and who knows what further surprises are in store for Logan and Molly this summer…

Alison Sherlock’s Cranbridge books never fail to hit the spot and The Village of Happy Ever Afters is a lovely, warm-hearted page-turner that is absolutely enchanting. Molly and Logan’s love story shimmers with wit, humour and pathos and these two wonderful characters are so meant to be together that readers will be in their corner cheering them on every single step of the way.

As always, the village of Cranbridge is so exquisitely described and the people so warm, kind and generous that it’s made me want to pack my bags and move in permantently.

A feel-good romantic read that ticks all the right boxes and will leave readers feeling uplifted, Alison Sherlock is at her captivating best with her wonderful new novel, The Village of Happy Ever Afters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Believe in yourself and dare to take a chance!

Molly Hopkins is happy that all her friends have found their happy ever afters. Only now she feels like the odd one out, still dreaming of her own happy after.
And one of her dreams is also opening a Tea Garden in the village of Cranbridge. With the help, and not able to say ‘no’ to anyone, she is able to realize her dream, even if it’s only for the summer.
While Molly is trying to make a success out of her dream, Logan Armstrong would nothing more than hide away after the public end of his marriage.
And is there any place better than Cranbridge? He doesn’t want to make new friends, ask for help (as it will end with always wanting something back in return) or just trust anyone in general.
But with his grandfather and his wish to see the old watermill working again, Logan has no other option to ask for help…
However, when Molly and Logan become business neighbours, it’s obvious that they can learn so much from each other, and maybe they are exactly what they need to believe that dreams can come true?

It’s not a secret how much I love the stories of Cranbridge and Riverside Lanes. So obviously I was very eager to reading this new chapter! And I knew beforehand that I would love this, just like the previous parts, but I didn’t expect that I could fall even more in love!

Was it because I could so easy relate with Molly? She has a kind heart, but also finds it very difficult to refuse to do something. And makes her being in situations she really doesn’t want to be (e.g. Easter Bunny…).
She has big dreams, but doesn’t believe in herself. She loves baking, but cannot believe that someone would want to pay for ‘just her cakes’.
And while I felt sorry for her, because we KNOW how amazing she is, I could understand her. Especially in her situation, with a mother having her own problems, brothers to look after and ex – boyfriend and ex – best friend who made her feel so small… Of course any person would not have a great self – esteem. Luckily, she has the best kind of friends now, believing in her and maybe pushing her to do things she rather wouldn’t do, but deep down wants to do.
But how little she thinks of herself, that won’t stop her to help out wherever or whenever she can, even if her help is not always initially wanted. And that shows us again how amazing Molly truly is!

And then Logan enters the scene… At first glimpse, you would think he is the total opposite of Molly. He keeps to himself, doesn’t engage with anyone in the village, and just refuses any kind of help, because he believes it will always come back to him!
So you would think it would easy to dislike him, right? But no, it’s obvious he is heartbroken, and who wouldn’t be? The end of a marriage is never something to be happy about, but the way his ended, was just so terrible!
Of course I understood why he wanted to escape for a while.
Quickly it’s clear how nice Logan really is, despite his initial beliefs of just being invisible. The way he wants his grandfather Stanley’s dream make come true, warmed my heart.
But also once he met Molly, and helps her out when she is being taken advantage of, and makes her believe in herself again… Heart – melting!!!

Obviously, seeing ‘my’ old friends again was wonderful, and reading how they had Molly’s back made me realize again how amazing life is when you have such friends in your life. The unconditional love and belief they have for Molly… can I be part of this group too? Pretty please????

The lovely thing of this book is not only how both characters show each other that it’s not wrong to chase your dreams, to believe in yourself and ask help. But also that when a community works together, any problem can be solved.
From fixing a watermill, making a Tea Garden, but also getting slowly out of a depression, finding something you love doing and in several cases, find love.
I had so many laughs, smiles of contentment, moments that my heart just melted but also a few gasps.

When I finished this book, I felt sad (as a bookaholic, it always breaks my heart when I finish a marvellous book…) but I also had to take a moment, looking straight ahead of me, and realize and digest that I have read an amazing book, showing us that chasing a dream can be scary, but that shouldn’t hold us back, because Yes We Can! And that believing in ourselves and in love is never the wrong thing to do!

In Alison Sherlock’s The Village of Happy Ever Afters, the 4th installment in the Riverside Lane romcom series, this endearing contemporary romance is heart-warming and a tear-jerking. Molly Hopkins works for her community hub and wished she had what her friends had: finding their soul mate and happily ever after. But she hasn't found the right one yet. When her best friend Amber encouraged her to make a wedding cake for her wedding, she wasn’t too sure and confident she could do it, though everybody loved her cake. That’s when she dreamed of having her own tea garden. She also wanted her mother to find happiness again since she lost her job. But when she encouraged her mother to garden at the community garden, she had gotten her happiness and her groove back. When Logan Armstrong arrived in Cranbridge, he wasn’t looking for romance since he had been burned by a failed marriage that made sensational news in London. All he wanted to do was to be alone and work on his furniture pieces, including honoring his grandfather’s dream to restore the watermill like in the olden days. But when he met Molly, they complimented each other to go for their dreams and to be confident to make it right in a small town village like Cranbridge. With a couple of hilarious bumps along the way, they’ve found out they were made for each other and became successful in their dreams with help from a couple of friends.

This heart-warming romcom was moving and inspirational, when it dealt a tiny bit with mental health. I cared for Molly and her mother Rachel, on how they dealt with some harrowing hardships and rough patches in their lives. I also adored Logan, who was lost and later found happiness where he was needed and belonged. Keith the Dog was a hoot too. The location of Cranbridge was mesmerizing and wonderful for the scenic settings. The dual themes of the story are it’s never too late to ask for help and nature heals all wounds.

This sweet romcom is the perfect book to cheer you up if you’re blue. I rated this book, four out of five stars, because for no reason. If you love heart-stopping and heart-warming romcoms with plenty of romantic and dramatic action, and a bundle of feel-good-nature laughs, check out The Village of Happy Ever Afters. This book is recommended for fans of delightful romcom movies and Hallmark Channel movies, and Lilac Mills’ The Tanglewood Tea Shoppe and Holly Martin’s Sunrise Over Sapphire Bay.

I have loved Molly and her fabulous baking since meeting her in The Village of Lost and Found, her nature has always been delightful, but it’s easy to see how easily people could take advantage of her kindness. The book opens with Molly dressed as the Easter Bunny, another situation brought about by her inability to say no. Whilst letting off steam about her ridiculous garb, she meets Logan who is visiting Cranbridge to escape the very public demise of his marriage. Irrespective of Molly’s pretty face, Logan is sworn off women and he’s determined to lay low until the dust settles.
Whilst Molly and Logan may seem to be opposites, their strengths match each other’s weaknesses creating a Ying Yang personality. What Logan lacks in gregariousness, Molly has in spades, and Logan’s confidence is just what Molly needs. Of course, they don’t immediately recognise the symmetry of their personalities, so it takes some gentle coaxing to help them along.
It was lovely to catch up with the fabulous group of friends and a real treat to be involved in Amber and Josh’s wedding plans. The couples from the previous books are very much present, and so are the adorable seniors, including Logan’s Grandad and Grandma Tilly. An interesting element to the story is the much yearned for restoration of the water mill. Abandoned and left to rot for decades, there are very few villagers who remember the waterwheel turning.
Expect the usual shenanigans from Dodgy Del and his minibus, but remember, his heart is definitely in the right place, usually. We also get to know Molly’s twin brothers as well as seeing the early signs of a teen romance.
I often refer to characters being well developed, and Alison certainly gives us a great insight into the villagers, so each book has felt like a visit to see friends. It may seem far-fetched to imagine such a happy place as Cranbridge, but I would happily move there.
I’m just hoping that there are more villagers to meet and that this wasn’t my final visit.

The Village of Happy Ever Afters is a perfect English romance that will leave you just feeling so happy.

The Village of Happy Ever Afters is the fourth book in The Riverside Lane series. I have to admit, I might have done a very big happy dance when I found out we got to be on the book blog tour for this book. I adore Allison’s books, and I was looking forward to returning to Riverside Lane’s world. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would highly recommend reading the previous three books. They are fabulous, and you will not be disappointed.

It’s finally time for Molly’s story, woot! Molly is the last one in her group of friends to find love and figure out what she wants to do with her life. Molly is sweet, kind, and loves to bake. Her story was just so lovely. Molly doesn’t have a lot of self-confidence at the beginning of this book. Her ex-boyfriend really did a number on her and left her doubting her own abilities. Molly also has the bad habit of never saying “no” to anyone, which means she volunteers for things she doesn’t want to. After lots of self-doubting and encouragement from family, friends, and Logan, Molly decides to open up her own little Tea Garden.

Molly’s character really comes to life when baking and learning how to run her own business. I am a sucker for books where the main heroine opens up her own business (especially one that involves food). For me, that transformation not only of the space that the business is in physically, but also the character’s transformation as they try to launch their business is just so amazing to watch as a reader. My heart soars when they finally achieve that success that they worked for. Molly’s journey into becoming a business owner has many ups and downs, but with a lot of hard work and lots of support from the community and Logan, her gorgeous neighbour, she can make her dreams come true.

The Riverside Lane series is one of my favourites and I feel so happy and uplifted to be visiting again. The novels do work as stand alones or in any order however there are a few reasons why reading in order is preferable. First, the chronology of the relationships developed in the book are easier to see and understand and also, the development of the community and main street is lovely to see from the beginning to the current book.
Book 4 is Mollie’s story. Mollie is such a sweet girl. From a young age she has had to take care of everyone in her family and this has continued into adulthood. She looks after her friends and community but is increasingly finding herself doing everything at the cost of doing things for herself. I loved that she found a perfect opportunity to invest in herself and develop her own skills and interest. Logan is Stanley’s grandson who has just been publicly divorced and humiliated by his ex-wife. He has moved to Cranbridge to escape everyone and to build furniture for his business in peace. The last thing he is looking for is love but will Cranbridge work its magic?
I love that recurring characters appear in this series. Stanley is sweet and adorable and probably my favourite. The there’s Mollie’s best friends; Lucy, Amber and Bella who all appear in their own stories in the series.
The village of Cranbridge feels so real to me after visiting several times. I love how it’s developed into a more thriving community since the first book and how businesses and buildings have been revived. It’s such a warm community to belong to and I desperately want to live there and join them.
I love this new addition to the Riverside series and if you haven’t visited yet I highly recommend that you do. Sweet characters, a developing, picturesque and quaint village and some romance is everything you need to provide some escapism.

I was more than excited to go back to the village of Cranbridge and catch up with the locals. This series has been wonderful and to see them all flourish in life and love has been a pleasure. But one has been left standing on the sidelines and that’s the rather lovely Molly.

The book starts with Molly who always has a cheery disposition being in a bit of a grump. Dressed as the Easter bunny on an unseasonably warm day for the egg hunt she’s far from a happy bunny. Especially after she throws the head in the road, only for it to then be run over by newbie Logan.

Logan is fleeing the paparazzi and the scandal of his wife being caught with her television co star. Wanting to bury himself in his furniture making he doesn’t want to socialise but his grandad Stanley has other ideas and I just knew there would be a renovation project as the author does it so well. We have had the shop, the community hub, the pub and now it’s the turn of the non working water wheel. Will it also bring together Molly and Logan as the previous projects have done for all her friends?

As a reader you really feel part of the community, with humour constantly provided by Dodgy Del. He always causes trouble despite his heart being in the right place but he is definitely one of my favourite characters. Then we have the wedding of Amber and Josh too who I have been with since book one and it was nice to see the full development of their romance.

This book like all the others in the series perfectly encapsulates friendship, community, the importance of the older generation, love and above all chasing your dreams whatever they may be.

Perfect end to a perfect series

This series of 4 books is a delightful package capturing the spirit of togetherness in an idyllic village named Cranbridge.

The four books namely The Village Shop for Lonely Hearts, The Village of Lost and Found, The Village Inn of Secret Dreams and The Village of Happy Ever Afters illustrates the life of Amber, Lucy, Belle and Molly respectively who are trying to get back on life and while doing that, develop a sense of self assurance and companionship.

The series is not about strong plotline or major twists rather it’s predictable. Few chapters in and i knew where it’s headed but surprisingly; it didn’t bother me. I was looking forward to reading the next book in line and going back to the riverside village Cranbridge.

Maybe it was the quirkiness of Grandma Tilly, Stanley’s wisdom, Uncle Frank’s intellect, Del’s dodginess, humorous banter or uncertainty of central characters or the whole vibe of the English countryside which collectively pulled me into a heartwarming hug.

These books are those “gentle and feel good factor” reflexes that we all require; atleast i do. I rolled my eyes in some romantic sequences but they were atleast organic and cute (sometimes).

Each book can be read alone as the author orients the reader on previous events and none is sequential, so that’s a relief. Writing is pretty simple and it’s a quick read as well with short chapters.

The series strongly root for engaging friendships, community spirit and revitalizing lives in a way that involves the neighborhood as well.

Overall, the 4 books in the series are comfy, relaxing and perfect getaway for escapism I craved for.

The Village of Happy Ever Afters is the fourth book in the Riverside Lane series. It would work as a standalone but I would honestly recommend reading the series in the correct order to get the absolute best of this wonderful series and the development of the location, the idyllic fictional village of Cranbridge.

In this book we get Molly’s story, as she falls for Logan who moves to the village to escape from the scandal of his wife running away with a tv presenter. Molly is such a selfless character, who always puts the needs of everyone before herself, at the expense of what she might want to do. When the opportunity to turn her hobby of baking into a business, and with the encouragement of her friends and Logan, Molly finally starts to put herself first, and in doing so, finds herself again, and rebuilds her confidence.

Logan is damaged by his past, and vows to never let his heart be broken again, which makes him reluctant to move forward with his feelings for Molly. As their friendship blossoms, they bring out the best in one another, and it was a pleasure to read. As a romance, they are the perfect combination with them both having strengths that counteract the other person’s weaknesses.

I loved seeing the old familiar characters from the series, the friendship group, Grandma Tilly, Stanley and of course Dodgy Del, who never fails to live up to his name, even it his actions come from the best of intentions.

As fictional locations go, Cranbridge will always be one of my absolute favourites, and I love the way in which in every book, changes are made to make Riverside Lane to improve the location, and make it more of a draw to people who might want to pass through. The way the watermill was developed in this story filled my heart with joy!

This wonderful book is filled with friendship, community, love and the encouragement to follow your dreams!

Molly Hopkins has seen her friends achieve their dreams on Riverside Lane and decides to pursue her passion for baking by opening a Tea Garden in the village. She hopes to make it a memorable summer with the support of her friends. On the other hand, Logan Armstrong, who is recovering from a public divorce, only trusts his Grandad. He wants to have a peaceful time in Cranbridge, but his Grandad wants to see the old watermill functioning again, possibly requiring Logan to seek help from the village and putting out of his comfort zone.

Some lines from this book -

It was a small village in the middle of the English countryside, with honey-coloured brick cottages lining the riverbanks and the surrounding green rolling hills peeping through from between each house. Instead of a main street, there was a wide shallow river running down the middle of the village, with three ancient pedestrian stone bridges connecting either side over the clear, bubbling water.

Everyone should make time for other people.

Well, why shouldn't we treat ourselves once in a while. We've worked hard all year. We deserve this. Well, maybe we'll have to get used to it. Not being taken advantage of all the time.
