An entertaining and amusingly illustrated book, that tells of the everyday trails and tribulations of a whacky young boy called Weir Do, and his equally madcap family. Nothing is normal about this family.
Weir tries desperately to impress Bella Allen, the love of his life, that he’s really a cool guy, despite his weird name.
After arriving at Bella’s fancy dress party dressed as a vending machine, and losing all the party snacks, Weir’s crazy family step in to provide the party entertainment. His grandpa’s magic vanishing dentures performance, and his father’s vociferous burping songs embarrass Weir, and by the end of the party he wonders if Bella will ever speak to him again.
The use of text within the illustration space drives the action and humour of this engagingly quirky book for six to twelve year-olds.
