Lily Fontaine left the club when she was only sixteen after a traumatic event with her ex-boyfriend and club member, Liam "Spice" McCormick. She's always come second to the club as well as her cousin, Elliot, who her parents took in when he was a child after her aunt passed away. Because she wasn't born a man, she was always overlooked and slowly became invisible.
He never stopped pining for her for fourteen years…
The moment Lily Fontaine stepped back into the Deranged Drifters clubhouse, Phoenix Hankinson knew he was a goner. Not only had he harbored feelings for her for over a decade, he's now the one in close quarters to protect her while she works on the cases building up against them. It may just kill him to have her so close and not touch her.
She hates the club that is her family by blood and his by loyalty…
Now, she's back to save the club she ran away from as fast as she can, and now finds herself falling for the man offering to protect her.
As the fight for the club heats up, so does the threat from their rival club, The Devil's Advocates. The law is also taking a crack at them, and as soon as Lily finds out the Sheriff's secret, her life is in jeopardy. Will the close quarters bring Phoenix and Lily together, or will her past with the club be the ultimate demise of their temporary arrangement?
Logan Gray is a writer and authorpreneur who likes to create books like artists like to create art. Description is important, but she wants to allow the reader to make the story their own. While she wants to give the reader what he or she needs to see the picture she's trying to depict, she doesn't want to fill the pages with unnecessary description to restrict how the reader views the characters or places.
While this may not appeal to all readers, she hopes it appeals to others who like you add their own touch to the story. Maybe they would rather the walls be white instead of gray. Maybe they'd like to envision the person is tall instead of average height. While the description as she sees it is there, it's not written so strongly the own interpretation cannot be made and applied. It gives the reader some creative freedom in a hobby that isn't always as flexible.
At the age of sixteen, Lily decided to leave the club after a distressing incident involving her ex-boyfriend and club member, Liam "Spice" McCormick. Throughout her life, she felt like she was always playing second fiddle, not only to the club but also to her cousin, Elliot, who was taken in by her parents as a child after her aunt's death. Being born a girl meant she was frequently overlooked, leading her to feel increasingly invisible.
Until recently, the Drifters and the Griffin’s Beach Police Department had a mutual agreement. The department would look the other way or give them a heads up when trouble came their way. In return, the club helped take care of problems the law couldn’t fix or failed to protect. It had worked well for over a decade, but it came to a halt when the city council opted to disband the corrupt police department. The city moved under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff’s Department just over a week ago. And they’re hellbent on taking the club down. Well until Lily Fontaine walked back into the club
Phoenix Hankinson understood he was in a tough spot. For over a decade, he had feelings for Lily, and now he was the one assigned to protect her as she dealt with the cases stacking up against them. Being this close to her without being able to touch her might just be his undoing.
You know, living the club life means there's always some sort of drama going on, whether it's with the cops or rival clubs. But wow, I can't believe I'm saying this again—the author really overdid it with the drama in this book. It started off pretty normal, with just a few incidents, like Lily returning to the police raiding the clubhouse…. Then her lawyer brain kicking in
Then out of nowhere, there were a bunch of kidnappings. My question is: How many times can someone get snatched from the parking lot in a week? There was zero protection, no one keeping an eye on the club—. Like, seriously, can’t you protect your own club? But hey, that’s just my take.
And the drama with the Bunnies was just excessive?
So many perspectives! I felt like I was rereading Lexi and Colt's book. And seriously, it seemed like the author was completely infatuated with Lexi. Give it a rest; she's not a superhero…….. I can't even count how many times in the first part of this book the author essentially retold all the so-called awesome things Lexi did in the first book.
Am I just a glutton for punishment? Will my stubborn self check out the next installment to see if the author has learned from her errors, or will I be doomed to repeat her mistakes? Only time will tell
When books have point of views with multiple viewpoints its hard to follow. Also can’t believe another author is writing about a women who was cheated on gets back together with a cheater. Lex is ridiculous for getting with colt again. Once a cheater always a cheater. And have some self esteem find a man that respects you not disrespects you.
Though decent, the other POVs ruined this couple's story. Definitely Phoenix and Lily's relationship will be something the other ol ladies will be jealous of. Her guy is completely in and obsessed with her. Lily the same. Seems to be the only couple with individual tattoos for one another completely leaving the club out. Phoenix told Lily he'd go nomad no problem if she wanted to leave, and I believe him. He's been in love with her for fourteen years. We're still getting Colt and Lex's POV, and they're basically like a ticking time bomb. Colt just isn't that into Lex, and she doesn't trust him anymore with good reason. Just a spoiler they will breakup in future books and Colt will have a whole new girlfriend. Not just an ow. Pretty sure they're even married at that time with two kids as well. He sucks. I'm just going to say.

This is a fairly good book. More a rating of 3.5 stars. There needs to be more editing and labeling when points of view between characters changes. Often this happened without even a break in the page so you’d be reading one character’s point of view, and then immediately in the next paragraph another’s. This club is interesting, but I’ve got to admit it isn’t that impressive - especially with how two of the Original members treated, ignored, and discarded their daughters. Phoenix is a great male lead - except all that we know and learn about him is his love for Lilly lasting 14 years. He isn’t a deep character that has much else too him. There’s lots of action, to the point it becomes highly improbable all that another female lead (Lex) goes through. I’m curious enough to read the next in the series.
This was a fun ole time. Lillian is an absolute firecracker and Phoenix is swoony. I love how he fights for her and truly sees her. Lilly absolutely deserves a happy ending, and I’m so glad she received it with such a worthy man. I do wish we would have gotten to see her family and the club have their comeuppance for the hurt they caused. It felt a bit glossed over and would have had much more of an emotional impact of we had seen some repercussions.
Side note, Lex is an absolute badass and I’m glad we got more of her stealthy hijinks throughout this.
Loved Phoenix and lily’s story ❤️❤️❤️ what a great series these books are, Logan Gray is such a talented story teller. Once again there’s drama and deceit, a club member trying to bring his brothers down and of course the ever present club bunnies trying to encroach on the old ladies men, love the drama. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I like Logan's writing. It's not all rainbows and unicorns. It's believable. Colt and Lex love each other, but they are working through what happened to them. I know this story is about Phoenix and Lilly. They got their love after fourteen years. They had struggles to get through, too.
I enjoyed reading this book. Great characters, lots of action. I couldn't put it down. Keep up the good work. I'm getting ready to read the next hook in the series. Can't wait!!!
I know this is Phoenix and Lily's book, but we get a lot from Colt and Lex too, and I still think Colt is an a$$hole. This book also needs a good proof reader but I still enjoyed the story and the continuing arc.
This is the second book in the series and the pace just keeps on going. You are gripped by the story and the characters. The women are each as badass as the guy's.
