A wonderful behind the scenes look at Grandma’s Marathon. Love the stories of how the race got it start and how it has become one of the nations best marathons. A great read for runners and non runners.
It has taken me far to long to finally sit down and read this book written by my Grandpa Scott. For a little over a year this book has sat on my shelf waiting, but not being a running or a fan of nonfictional stories in general, I felt the need to be in the right mindset in order to let it reach is greatest potential in my eyes. It was worth waiting. Though I opened up this book thinking I was only doing this to make my grandpa happy, I did find myself enjoying the building of Grandma’s Marathon. I’m sure as a kid I’d heard the stories many of times, and actually found myself recognizing many of the names and even faces with in these pages. What I also learned was how tenacious my grandpa is. Growing a world wide event from pretty much nothing. It’s truly amazing! Runner, local of the area, admirer of history, this story is one you’ll want to read.
